@DidILeaveTheGasOnoh bless you darling, wishing you better soon xx

ConfusedMiddleAger83 · 29/05/2025 19:32

Oh @DidILeaveTheGasOn i really feel for you. I had to have ankle surgery a few months ago and was stuck not able to shower for 5 weeks as I couldn’t manage it when non weigh bearing plus the same issue with the stairs, it is rotten but you will heal and get back to it all. It was sort of my motivation in all this as I kept thinking how my ankle would thank me for having to bear less weight.

i hope you can get that MRI and then onto treatment very soon.

Mounraine · 29/05/2025 19:51

@DidILeaveTheGasOn vent away, you really are going through a lot at the moment Flowers

LittleNoosh · 29/05/2025 19:53

Sending get well wishes to you @DidILeaveTheGasOn I’m lightly hypermobile and have done what you did with my knee. Do take care of it, I didn’t and had a number of recurrent injuries and slower recovery as a result.

No loss for me this week 😞and I’m having a flare up of my fatigue so exercise is off the table unfortunately. I’ve bought some small dumbbells and will look up some gentle arm exercises that I might be able to manage despite the fatigue. Got to be careful not to exacerbate it.

I’ve not really seen any suppression from a 2.5 dose. Had my fourth dose today so going up a level next week and hoping that makes a difference. Losing weight with fatigue is hard.

On the plus side, I have managed to cut out snacking with my willpower so that’s good. And I’m trying to stay positive in the meantime.

Does anyone else eat for health as well as weight-loss? I'm thinking whole foods, plant diversity, fibre, protein and low UPFs? I think MJ really helps me with this, but reckon more people are focusing on calorie-counting?

Absolutely!! I rarely have UPF, cook from scratch (mostly) and love pulses, lentils etc. I'm trying to up my protein and love a slow cook bean chilli. I do eat meat but try not to eat too much red/pork meat. Spinach and broccoli is my favourite go to... I'm not calorie counting but follow the slimming world speed foods as a rule. Saying that I'm only W1D5 so perhaps will need to look at calorie counting if needed 🥴

I’m having my first time of the month since starting the jabs and my god it’s not fun! I’m on day 5 and it’s still as heavy and painful as day 1. Is this a thing??

It was for me! First period on jab was longer ans heavier for longer too...

wantmorenow · 29/05/2025 20:04

Hi all. Would love to recommend the Food Noise by Jack Moseley to help with learning what to eat. I found it really easy to read and it's almost written to accompany weight loss injections. He explains about overfed but undernourished diets. I found about the book from another thread here on MN.

Thanks so much. I could do with some guidance on this. Since reading this thread I’ve been conscious of enough protein but also the fibre aspect! Have been sort of IF-ing (as I never eat breakfast) but also trying to ensure I fit in with my family (have two young impressionable girls who I don’t want to have my food issues!) so hoping this will be really helpful.

OhPolly · 29/05/2025 15:40

Afternoon,

I might actually go and get myself something to eat shortly. I've not felt like eating much today except a bowl of cereal this morning.

We took DDog for a Pup-cup and chicken nuggies earlier. She's not allowed to eat after 8pm tonight and then clear water only.

I think we've found the extendable lead and going to take her on a slow walk later. Maybe on the beach, if the weather holds off.

It will be good to get some exercise for myself too.

I've been working from home today and it's been quite a slow day thankfully. My head isn't in the right place and I just want tomorrow over with.

This year is definitely having it's up and downs!

Oh she is just adorable. I really hope tomorrow goes well for you all. What a sweetheart x

Seahorsesplendour · 29/05/2025 20:14

@DidILeaveTheGasOn you have every right to moan and here is a great place to do it!!

Really sorry there’s no quick fix for you!!

You will get there though & we are all behind you cheering you on to weight loss during recovery !!!

@Samuraipizzacat @Elle771 i also had a much more painful & heavier period than normal I was hoping it was just a fluke but maybe not…

almost the weekend guys!!!

AccidentalPrawnYouFool · 29/05/2025 20:15

I’ve had a bit of a result this week. Have got down to 11 stone 5 so 13lbs total loss - and am back in a size 12. Am busy updating my wardrobe and rinsing my Next account - also got a lovely new dress on Vinted that fits perfectly and I’m so delighted with myself.

AccidentalPrawnYouFool · 29/05/2025 20:18

@DidILeaveTheGasOnim so sorry you’re having a shitty time. Please let your DH help you though, it’s probably nothing to him and everything in your brain. Hope you get a nice soak in the bath.
I fancied rose in the garden today as the weather is lovely and I’ve accidentally nearly had the whole thing. As well as dinner. Is it really that many calories!? Shit.

dc82 · 29/05/2025 20:21

@DidILeaveTheGasOn so sorry you’re going through the ringer. I hope you are getting some tlc - you deserve it!

Fatrosrhun · 29/05/2025 20:29

Oh @DidILeaveTheGasOn im sorry for what you’re going through. Rant away. You’ve made me laugh several times..(not about your leg). I know I’ve not been here long but I’d like to think we will become each other’s supporters- through the easy days and the not easy. I’ve dislocated my shoulder several times, not for awhile since I had my last op, but I remember how much it hurts.

It’s times like this, when we’re feeling a bit crap, that it’s easy to come off the rails. I say have a wash at the sink for a couple of days, get lots of rest and be kind to yourself. In a couple of days, if you rest it and perhaps ice it, you’ll be in a different place and might just get up to the shower - hey and it will burn off some calories too going up on your bum/one leg. And re your partner seeing you naked - well you’ve started your journey to a place where you can feel confident again. A lot of us understand where you are/what you’re saying. I’m just saying we’re here for rants and wobbles as well as clapping losses at the scales (well at least I am!). A lot of us have got along journey and might be around for a while (sometimes someone posts a start weight and I think, gosh I’m miles off being that!). So for me, I’m happy to chat about other things going on in our lives a bit too, because they might have an affect on our progress.

Anyway, I suggest another little glass of wine, a cry if it helps, and an early night. Then pick yourself up again tomorrow and carry on.

ElsieJay · 29/05/2025 20:42

@DidILeaveTheGasOn - you aren’t talking shite , you’re saying how you feel (which IS shite , understandably ) - and if you can’t say it here, in our Safe Space, then where else can you vent ?
Im so very sorry you’re having a rotten time, agree with @Fatrosrhun that a glass of something nice , and a few tears might help tonight, because it IS bloody unfair and you need to acknowledge that to yourself .
Then onwards and downwards tomorrow, or when you feel ready.
Your other half sounds a sweetheart , and very supportive - lean on him for a bit . xx

SussexLass87 · 29/05/2025 20:59

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 29/05/2025 18:50

@OhPolly I want to give you and your lovely dog a cuddle.

@WeeBean hello! Very similar starting stats to me! Welcome!

Can I have a bit of a moan/rant?

Today's been a bit of a mess, mentally. Four hours at minor injuries waiting to be x-rayed but they said it looks like I need an MRI and they can't do that because my leg is so swollen, so they've booked it in for two weeks' time. They gave me crutches and painkillers and told me to rest.

I still feel really upset and defeated. I feel... fragile, like my resolve is thin glass, ready to shatter. I had an entire bottle of wine last night and no dinner, so with the wine included I had 1100 calories. And I'm like, yay. Wtf? That is not a yay. Shit's sake.

And here's something. Our shower is on the top floor, 2 flights of stairs away, and I can't get there. I can shuffle on my bum up one flight of stairs to the main bathroom, which has a bath and no shower, but it's a big tub and I can't get in it alone.

My partner hasn't seen me naked in over two years.

He is a very lovely and compassionate guy and he'd be sad if he thought I wouldn't ask for help out of shame over my body, but also, during sex he's asked me to leave a top or dress on a couple of times because he liked the dress or the top, and it just didn't feel like he was making a sartorial decision.

There's so much shame and awful self talk bubbling away inside today. I feel exhausted and starving (due my injection tomorrow so no suppression left) and dehydrated because in the melee, my new lovely stanley cup got left behind at the gym.

I'm going to end the rant here, and thanks if you made it through, and sorry if I brought the mood down. I want to do a separate post about self talk in a bit because I was thinking a lot about it today so I guess gird your loins for more of my shite.

Oh DidI...I'm sorry about your utterly SHIT day. Rant away...we're all here listening and nodding along.

Sending you the biggest squeeze - your posts have brought us all so much laughter and joy - I'm so sorry this is happening ❤️

I avoid UPFs and eat protein, fruit and vegetables and whole foods. I've always done that but have also had too many carbs and smacked on sweet things and drank wine. Since I started mj five and a half weeks ago I've had no snacks, nothing containing refined sugar and no alcohol.

@DidILeaveTheGasOn really sorry to hear that you're struggling. You have been so supportive and honest with advice.

Could you call the gym and ask them to look out for your bottle? Just a thought- i hate losing stuff.

Keep going, not long till your next jab xx

Phat2fin · 30/05/2025 00:34

This thread moves really fast! I’ve got my 5th jab tomorrow and I’m still trying to decide whether to go 3.75mg or 5mg. I don’t really get much appetite suppression and I still think about food all day - the only thing I notice is when I’m eating I’m full faster and can have a small portion without getting grumpy. I’ve not really lost any weight this week which is frustrating. Maybe a 1lb - I’ll do my official weigh in for the week tomorrow before I jab

flyawaybirdieboo · 30/05/2025 06:28

What alcohol does everyone drink on MJ? There are times I have coming up where I will need to socially drink. I hope people understand what I mean when I say that, and other than those times I’m off it but I need to be able to make this part of life, but what do people drink? I’m normally a wine drinker but can’t bring myself to drink that, I was thinking very weak G&Ts? any experience drinking on MJ even though I know you shouldn’t. Many thanks 🤗

Edited

I tried a white wine spritzer last night but had huge hot flush straight after with moisture seeping from every pore! Not sure if menopausal or MJ triggered but not keen to go through that in public again 🙈.

flyawaybirdieboo · 30/05/2025 06:37

Oh no @Foreveronaplanethats not good. Thanks for sharing. I had a bottle of Coors last Sunday and it was fine but I’m not much of a lager drinker so need alternatives as going on holiday next Saturday too and want to be able to enjoy the odd drink 🍹

SlipperyLizard · 30/05/2025 06:48

@flyawaybirdieboo I’m usually a cider drinker but it is pretty calorific so I’ve been trying to switch to gin & slimline. I haven’t drank anything like as much as I used to since starting MJ, but I have had no side effects when I’ve had a few drinks.

I don’t think alcohol is a total no-no on MJ, but obviously it is empty calories so I make sure I account for it to avoid sabotaging my weight loss.

flyawaybirdieboo · 30/05/2025 07:12

That’s reassuring @SlipperyLizardwill see how I go and try not panic about it, and continue to log which should be easier as will be drinking less that I normally would!! Thanks
