March 2025 starters Thread 5

TheSpoonyNavyReader · 14/05/2025 08:21

New thread for all of us.
Thank you for allowing me to rant, share our ups and downs. Our group blows my mind of how we are so supportive of each other.

Some of us are now hitting the 12 week mark, some of us are nearly at their goal, some halfway and some still have a way to go, but we are all losing even if it’s half a pound a week. We have all come so far and are making a difference to our health.

First shot on 1st March 2025, now up to last 7.5mg, to start 10mg next week

SW: 13st 4lbs (BMI 29.2)
CW: 11st 13lbs (BMI 26.2)
GW: 11st 0lbs (BMI 24)

Just casually slipped into the 11s this morning...

I'm delighted. Hardly any side effects either.

We started at the same weight but if I remember rightly you are taller than me.

I am debating going up to 10mg and starting to feel that I should.

Thanks for the new Thread! This is me checking in

NSV this morning, wedding ring now loose , 3 months ago I had to wet my finger and push it in

someone posted loose tummy skin on old thread. Similar here my tiger marks are now very wrinkly but have another 4st to loose and I know I will have to have skin removal/tightening surgery when I reach my goal (been wanting the surgery since DS1)

You are taller than me, I am only 5’4.

I have now hit the 10’s but only just as I now weigh 10st 13lbs. These last few weeks I have been bouncing around a few pounds. This is why I am thinking of going up to 10mg.

Oops - posted on the old thread before seeing we had a new thread, so reposting here.

Morning all, midweek accountability weigh in.

SW 10st 4.6lb/144.6lb BMI 25.7 (prescribed MJ because of diabetes risk and hideous waist measurement)
CW 9st 1.9lblb/127.9lb BMI 22.7 - 16.7lb down, 73.9% of target achieved.
GW 8st 10lb/122lb (22.6lb total target loss, 5.9lb to go) BMI 21.6

Loss by week:
W1 5.5lb
W2 1.3lb
W3 0.7lb (ate out loads)
W4 3.3lb
W5 0.5lb gain (ate out loads)
W6 3.8lb (Post Easter weekend plus period)
W7 2.6lb
W8 1.5lb gain (BH weekend away, ate out loads)
W9 1.1lb
W10 0.4lb so far

Got rid of the gain weight from W8 now, which is good, although it takes a lot longer to get it off than it does to put it on 😂

Oddly feeling not that much suppression on 7.5ml - nowhere near as much as I felt when I first started MJ. Maybe that's just my brain getting used to what not wanting to giant portions feels like and adjusting to a new (actually old) normal for me? Either way, it's probably good because I'm eating enough to keep nutrition levels in a good range without having to force myself, hopefully that'll help with maintenance when I get there.

Tonight is going to be a challenge though - I'm going to a retirement dinner at Hakkasan and it's a set menu in a private room, with a stupid number of courses. I got the menu from the lady who is organising it, and even if I pick at the food, it's pretty calorie dense, and the sheer number of courses is going to make it really hard. Plus Chinese food always makes me retain water. So I'm expecting a bump tomorrow even with a lot of willpower.

I'm realising how much my job is a bit of an issue when it comes to diet! Typically in a work week I'll have two or three client/supplier lunches, and then one or two dinners on top. That's a lot of eating out - lunches aren't so bad, because they're alcohol free and nobody blinks if you just have a salad with dressing on the side as a single course (long lunches are a thing of the past in my industry), but the dinners rack the calories up pretty quickly. And then at least one social dinner as well. I've started taking my own food in for lunches in the office - I usually have working lunches, but in London a lot of people bring food in Tupperware and we don't order in for it, so they're better than NY working lunches. I did a really rough calculation of total calories consumed across the week - and eating out for three dinners and two lunches is a large percentage of my overall calories for the week!!! I think it's fine so long as I'm really mindful of that, and balance the rest of the week out well though.

@SharpOpalNewt Love how casually you slipped into the 11s! Well done.

@Bipaloss I think a lot of people will need surgery - skin is elastic but it has limits to how much it can shrink back. Nothing wrong with giving it a helping hand.

@TheSpoonyNavyReader Thanks for repeating those super motivating words in the OP, love reading it every time I load this page.

Puddingpiper · 14/05/2025 09:13

Thank you for setting up the new thread.

Currently I am 0.3kg off 100kg which will be a 10kg weight loss. Official weigh in and jab day is Friday.

Im close to the 30 BMI point now. Does anyone know if you can still change provider when you go under the 30BMI?

Ingangoolie · 14/05/2025 09:23

Hi, IngoGreen here, checking in with a name change, why not

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 14/05/2025 09:29

Morning, thanks for the new thread @TheSpoonyNavyReader , these threads move so fast but are bloody amazing for support.

I'm in two minds about goal weight. I'm 5ft 7 and would love love LOVE to be low 11s. But, at my heaviest I went up to 17st 5 a d I worry about loose skin. It's OK atm (15st 2) but I'm wondering if a slightly higher goal weight would look better. I'm not sure I could cope with loose skin.

I'm very lucky though that although I had 2 big babies/bumps, I didn't get a stretch mark. Obviously was younger, but maybe this bodes well for my skin springing back?

taylorswift1989 · 14/05/2025 09:40

Thanks for the new thread.

Not able to keep up with posts most of the time, but I'm grateful to everyone for being here, sharing your wins and worries, and giving support.

I'm currently waiting to hear back from pillsorted who apparently have some delays. I may go elsewhere and get another pen in the meantime. I just went with pillsorted because I used them last month but I guess I shouldn't have been so lazy and should have shopped around!

GiveMeWordGames · 14/05/2025 09:59

Morning! Thanks @TheSpoonyNavyReader for the shiny new thread. Checking in.

I'm in my 8th week, took my 4th 5mg on Monday and will be staying at 5mg for the next month. Height 5ft 8.

SW - 17st 4
CW - 15st 11.5
GW - somewhere between 11-12st

Total loss so far, 20.5lbs

@Bipaloss NSV this morning, wedding ring now loose , 3 months ago I had to wet my finger and push it in.

This is brilliant. So, of course, I went and got my wedding and engagement rings resized about 6 months ago. And they're now getting ever looser. Still, given that the price of gold has shot up in the meantime I suppose it was a good investment anyway. 😂

EchoNova · 14/05/2025 10:04

Thanks for the new thread @TheSpoonyNavyReader

Week 10 Weigh in (Just took 2nd 7.5 mg Jab)
SW: 13st 7lbs
CW: 11st 9lbs
GW: 10st 5lbs (ish)
Total weight loss: 26lbs ( 2 lbs off 2 stone!!)

BMI is now 27

Had a loss of 3lbs this week which I'm thrilled with. However I was severely blocked up the last week (hasn't been this bad since 2.5mg) so started taking lactoluse again (that will teach me for stopping) and my god I was on the toilet for about an hour on Tuesday night and safe to say I'm now cleared out 😆

SE's are a bit worse today (week 1 on 7.5mg was fine) - very tired and a bit nauseaus but it's also TOTM so that could be the cause of it. Hoping to spend a couple of months at 7.5mg once I don't plateau as I've steadily gone up every 4 weeks since I started and the supression is really good.

NSV today also had to put a new hole in my belt this morning as I had used the last one, And I can remove my trousers without undoing the button. However - I'm finding it very hard to see a difference in myself although I know there is ......body dysmorphia is very real.

I love Hakkasan and think I would make an exception and eat it all.

I miss client lunches and dinners, but when I attended them I was young and never put on weight, oh how times have changed.

Losing slowly and steadily - took the 5th dose out of my pen on Monday, really hadn’t realised how easy it was! Have ordered another 5mg. I think I’ve got a good year on the injections to get to goal but I’ve made peace with it. Have started to do hand weights at home but need to stop procrastinating and join the gym!
goad to see everyone is doing well.

TheBossOfMe · 14/05/2025 10:58

@TheSpoonyNavyReader I might be hoovering it up tonight - it is a great place! I think this might be a fuck it night, enjoy the food and good company, eat light during the day and same again tomorrow. And I hear you about never gaining in the past - I used to be able to do 3/4 lunches a week and same number of dinners, plus dinner parties at weekends, and never gain a pound.

GiveMeWordGames · 14/05/2025 10:59

Oh, yeah, Hakkasan would properly test my resolve. And I'd probably give in!

Flaitch · 14/05/2025 11:05

Great to hear everyone’s ups and downs. I’m feeling a bit stuck at the moment. @TheSpoonyNavyReader i was the same start weight as you and same height. Started 4th march and now at 11.8. Well I say 11.8 I’m bouncing between that and 11.10 since 26/4 can’t seem to get past this was hoping for a woosh but no luck. I’ve never been very “regular” so hoping that’ll push me when it happens. Was on 3.75mg but decided next pen that’s due next week I’m going up to 5mg. The thing is I’ve still great suppression on 3.75. Just feel I’m stuck ! Target is 9.7 for my holiday in mid July as this would allow for gaining but at this rate feel I’m not going to even reach 10.7 by mid July!

Christmashope19 · 14/05/2025 11:20

So I started on 24 march
week 1-7 on 2.5mg
then week 8 did 3.75 on a 2.5 pen
just used my first 5mg pen but only took 3.75 and boy do I feel queasy - took it on Sunday am but still have a sicky feeling meaning I have not managed to eat much at all
Still able to function and go to work but feeling ‘off’
biggest meal I have had since Sunday is some homemade veg soup!

I knew it was someone that had exact same starting stats as me

I am also at a stall, I keep bouncing around 11 stone. I lost 2 stone in 8 weeks and it has taken me 3 weeks to lose 5lbs and only 1lb last week and this week it looks like I won’t have lost a thing (weigh in on Friday)

I am sure that it will happen for us both. My goal weight is 9st 7lbs but I think it will take me months to get there as well.

OP posts:
TheBossOfMe · 14/05/2025 12:08

I think I'm also at a bit of a stall - I've been largely bouncing up and down a couple of pounds since 26/5. I've been reading a bit about plateaus, and they seem to happen around this time into the journey for a lot of people, around week 7/8/9/10. Apparently it's your body adjusting to a new "set weight" and conserving energy by slowing your metabolism as the weight comes off - so I'm not going to worry about it too much. On some of the threads of people who started over a year ago, they've talked about plateaus going on for weeks at a time, and then suddenly the body adjusts to a new set weight and the weight starts coming off again. Hopefully!

ilovegreenbeans · 14/05/2025 12:50

Hello! Can I join, please?

Started March 25th and currently halfway through my second pen, 5mg.

SW 98.2kg bmi 32
CW 89.4 kg bmi 29
GW 77kg bmi 25

I'm 5'10 so 77kg is pretty slim for me! I'm so pleased with my losses so far, and minimal side effects. My face looks slimmer and less jowly, my rings fit better and I'm now wearing loads of clothes I put away because they looked awful.

However... I have been about 1 pound either side of this weight now for 2 weeks... sounds similar to others so I'm trying to trust the process, keep eating well and moving as much as I can!
