New thread for all of us.
Thank you for allowing me to rant, share our ups and downs. Our group blows my mind of how we are so supportive of each other.

Some of us are now hitting the 12 week mark, some of us are nearly at their goal, some halfway and some still have a way to go, but we are all losing even if it’s half a pound a week. We have all come so far and are making a difference to our health.

Omg I’m so itchy too!

Ingangoolie · 15/05/2025 19:36

@TheBossOfMe have just had a lovely 10 minutes filling a basket at allbeauty.
Just me??
I may actually go back and do it for real tomorrow, great price on usual moisturiser, thanks ☺️

seasidehunter · 15/05/2025 19:45

Aveeno (oat based) products are really good for itchy skin - they were the only bath and moisturising products that ever relieved my k
son’s itchy eczema. Worked wonders when my daughter had chicken pox too!

GameOfJones · 15/05/2025 20:00

I'm slightly relieved I'm not the only one feeling itchy although you have my sympathy because it's so annoying!

I was speaking to DH about it and he suggested I'm not drinking enough water. That's very possible, it's not something I track and I live on black coffee in the mornings so I'm going to focus on upping my water intake and some of the suggestions for moisturising.

Sort of NSV - I saw a photo of myself from before I started losing weight and even I could see that I was much fatter previously than I am now. It has spurred me on. I never want to go back to how I was.

Ingangoolie · 15/05/2025 20:23

@GameOfJones more water likely will help. I’ve found food noise gone and thirst noise gone a lot of the time as well so I really have to make an effort to drink

Fatmumslim01 · 15/05/2025 20:26

@GameOfJones yes to the itching! I actually have scratches on my legs I've been itching them so much, I find this flares up when I forget to do my magnesium spray for a few days so will get back on it tonight.

@TheBossOfMe I've just ordered some Elizabeth Arden capsules they were a good price on Amazon. My usual night serum is about to run out so I'll try these. Love a little nighttime wind down serum, and I usually do my magnesium spray and also a pillow spray and hand cream it's a little routine !

TheBossOfMe · 15/05/2025 20:33

@Ingangoolie (love the new user name although you've given me an ear worm!) - and @GameOfJones also having to remind myself to drink water. I have one of those bottles that marks recommended water volume per hour, and having to track using that.

And @GameOfJones that is a cracking NSV! Amazing!

TheBossOfMe · 15/05/2025 20:35

@Fatmumslim01 It didn't even occur to me to look on Amazon, great recommendation, thank you!

Yeah, nah, still looked like puffy death warmed up in the hair cut mirror of doom. Bit too soon for that one. 😂

HOWEVER. I did have a little wander in some shops and tried on a size 20 top in Next. I haven't bought stuff in person from them for a while because the shops don't go above 20 and quite often don't have many even at that size.

And, I venture to say, it was too big! I decided this is completely to wrong time to buy things so stopped at that point but I was quite chuffed. I found myself looking at any clothes I liked the look of the way I used to 15-20 years ago, with interest and excitement, instead of with simmering resentment.

The hairdressers mirror is a scary scary thing.

I may be going a little against the tide here but buying yourself a few things that fit really nicely makes a huge difference and means you can see the changes you have made. My original plan was to buy clothes for work every two size so planned to skip size 16 and just buy 14s. However the difference on trousers that are the correct size is enormous! My old size 20s didn’t flatter me at all and gave me a saggy backside when they got too big. I’m currently getting clothes I really hope will do two sizes and still look good - oversized shirts, wrap dresses. The expense of replacing underwear (especially bras) feels like it is going to be painful and can be put off for as long as possible!

Purplebeag · 15/05/2025 20:47

After a few weeks of not much loss - I think partially plateau and partially being away from home quite a lot this last half week then weight has been dropping off - I seem to have gone down 4/5 pounds since Sunday so I must have been retaining alot of water from all the eating out!

I also went to the hairdresser and had a comment about my weight loss for the first time because she noticed which felt very satisfying.. I can't say the mirror of doom felt any better though sadly.

TheBossOfMe · 15/05/2025 21:00

@Purplebeag I have a semi-regular pedicure with a woman who works from her rather lovely home in Islington, she's really good, from Bangkok so isn't afraid to tackle my runner's feet with a cheese grater. I only go once every two months usually - but might now need to up that to once a month because my hair and nails are growing like a weed. Last time I saw her was a couple of weeks ago when she told me I didn't look so fat anymore. Asians can be brutal with the truth 😂

Not sure if they are the exact ones you mentioned but I'm sure they will be fine

Oh, I think that's a very good point and I'll definitely give myself a boost like that with some new clothes before long. I thought I'd wait until I was solidly down 2 stone and that would be time for a treat. But I've also got a fair few things I slowly stopped fitting into but optimistically kept, particularly jeans, and that's going to feel so good too.

Yeah, pants and bras, that's a long game.....😬

TheBossOfMe · 15/05/2025 21:38

@GiveMeWordGames @Puddingpiper My pants almost fell down this week so maybe not such a long game - I used to size up a lot because the amount of body fat I had gave me a really visible line where the elastic went into the fat and now that is disappearing. I'm thinking I need an interim M&S multipack of granny pants.

Bras can't wait - cup volume isn't changing but I've moved from the loosest hook and eye setting to the tightest and they're still not fitting any more. If I lift my arms the band moves with me and cuts my boobs in half when I put my arms back down.

I think I was in denial about how fat I was😂

Temu is really good for pants I buy the period pants from there and they are surprisingly decent quality.

I was just about to mention this too!

DS has severe dry skin excema and when not using prescribed creams I use aveeno on him to keep it at bay and reduce itching.

i have dry face skin in winter and now on MJ and use his aveeno on top of my day and night moisturiser and good as gold

both aveeno creams and shower gels are good for dry and itchy skin

Love the honesty 😂

one of the reason I went on MJ is because my south Asian in laws told me I was too fat after attending a family wedding in February , the honesty killed me at the time but made me turn things around and I rather have the truth. Now almost 2st down I realise how bad my health actually was so I am glad I got the truth to start this journey

I have noticed nails growing fast but my nail bands are in so bad condition considering a manicure this weekend

my hair however is shedding more and more by day , and is so dry and frizzle (looks like haven’t cut it for years despite it being last month) . I can grab a handful of losse hair from the tips. If I brush it , m clothes is covered in hair. I have always had thin hair and lost a lot of hair last time I had a massive weight loss after Ds1 (17 st to 13 st) in 1 year. so I’m not surprised considering I now lost almost 2st in less 2 months, just hope it comes back when weightloss is stable again .

Overjiggly · 16/05/2025 07:01

@TheSpoonyNavyReader you look fab, that side view wow lovely figure! And thanks for new thread

@TheBossOfMe amazing on the waist measurement this is one of my goals to get out the danger zone but I'm a loooooong way off yet

Week 11 weigh in

SW 18st 7lb
CW 17st 0lb
1st Mini Goal 16st 13 (so close)
Ultimate Goal 11st 7

Another -2 for me so 1.5 stones lost. 1st Mini Goal is very close, I have a couple more Mini goals in the 16 bracket so exciting to be close now.

Had an upset tummy this week (bloating/pains/wind) and I think it was chilli that caused it.

TryingMJ · 16/05/2025 07:12

Weigh in 11 and I’m sooo happy to be in a new stone bracket!

Start weight 13 stone 6.5lbs

Current weight 10 stone 13.0lbs

Loss this week 3.6lbs

Total loss 2 stone 6.5lbs (34.5lbs).

TheBossOfMe · 16/05/2025 10:23

@seasidehunter I forgot all about Aveeno, it is indeed amazing for itchy skin. They also do a spray that gets to the hard to reach back area, spray it on straight after a shower.

@Bipaloss Asian honesty 😂I think hairloss is really common when losing a lot of weight, there's a supplement called Viviscal which is supposed to help a lot. And taking glycerin capsules. But as you say, when the weight loss slows, hair comes back anyway.

@Overjiggly So close! I've had to start making chilli with cumin and paprika rather than actual chilli powder now, my stomach can't take it at all.

@TryingMJ Well done, so amazing!

I seem to have started back on a downward trajectory after a mini-plateau. Even after the Hakkasan blow out! Another tiny bit closer to the goal.

SW 10st 4.6lb/144.6lb BMI 25.7 (prescribed MJ because of diabetes risk and hideous waist measurement)
CW 9st 0.5blb/126.5lb BMI 22.5 - 18.1lb down, 80% of target achieved.
GW 8st 10lb/122lb (22.6lb total target loss, 4.5lb to go) BMI 21.6

Loss by week:
W1 5.5lb
W2 1.3lb
W3 0.7lb (ate out loads)
W4 3.3lb
W5 0.5lb gain (ate out loads)
W6 3.8lb (Post Easter weekend plus period)
W7 2.6lb
W8 1.5lb gain (BH weekend away, ate out loads)
W9 1.1lb
W10 1.8lb so far

I'll gain a bit over the weekend because I'm out a lot I suspect, but going into the weekend with 1.8 in the bank feels like a good place to be.

Spoke too soon about the wonder of 7.5 suppression. It lasted all of 48 hours and then I was back to being ravenous. Spent most of yesterday, pre-jab, talking myself down from wanting to eat the chocolate bar hidden in the DS's treat drawer. But I resisted. 🙏

On the plus side, after no loss last week, I managed about a pound and half loss for this week. Roll on jab 2 of 7.5...

Week 13, nearly 10kg down. 👍

Nsx - put on a t shirt, fitted, the arms aren't tight and my boobs look great 😂

I don't know if it's a thing for you but fluctuating hormone levels definitely play a part for me in hunger levels and craving sweet things, even with mounjaro though it is much less so. And even though ostensibly my periods seem to have stopped now (fingers crossed).
