New thread for all of us.
Thank you for allowing me to rant, share our ups and downs. Our group blows my mind of how we are so supportive of each other.

Some of us are now hitting the 12 week mark, some of us are nearly at their goal, some halfway and some still have a way to go, but we are all losing even if it’s half a pound a week. We have all come so far and are making a difference to our health.

Currently testing my nutrition geeks collagen in coffee and it is not whiffy - yay! I did only go with a half dose though, just in case.

Amjam2025 · 12/06/2025 11:39

@TheBossOfMe Fantastic! Huge well done, you've worked so hard to get to this point. I'm tailing behind you and currently at 9 stone 1lb but I am aiming for 8 st 10lb then perhaps 8st 7lb to give me a bit of wiggle room as I am also a short arse foodie lol.

Would be great to hear your maintenance plans after your appt, I need to get myself on some maintenance threads as hopefully i'm only a few weeks away from it myself.

Well done again Boss and well done to everyone else - whatever point you are at.

GiveMeWordGames · 12/06/2025 11:49

Fantastic @TheBossOfMe , bloody well done. I hope you're super proud of yourself and I would similarly be interested in your maintenance journey.

I've lost track of when I last posted my stats on here so, anyway..

So, at 11.5 weeks I've just edged over 2 stone loss. I've now got the 14s in my sights!

Earlier this week I discovered what happens when I ignore MJ telling me not to drink more than a glass or two and do it anyway. It was a warm night, perfect for sitting in the garden with some fizz, and I'd had a stressful day. Well, on the plus side, I don't think any of the calories in the Cava bottle made it into my fat cells because they all reappeared in the middle of the night along with the (perfectly reasonable amount of, definitely not the problem) food I'd eaten that evening.

Live and learn. 😐

@Fatmumslim01 3lb loss after a stall is great and if you still feel the 5 is working for you then maybe stick with it? I'm about to start my 3rd 5.

TheBossOfMe · 12/06/2025 12:58

Those mini-goals are such an important part of this journey, they help keep motivation going. Well done all of you, and glad to hear you've kicked that stall @Fatmumslim01

@GiveMeWordGames Silver linings re calories not staying in, maybe?

I'll definitely be staying on this thread, if that's ok. Some of the maintenance threads are a bit odd (some really disordered eating issues), and here is such a lovely supportive community. And I'm not sure how maintenance is going to work for me because MJ worked in a really odd way for me. Food noise never really went, it's been loud all the way through, but my food noise has always been related to actual meals, and not snacking. Appetite suppression was also pretty non-existent after the initial jabs, I had to think hard most of the time about when to stop eating because I could easily have eaten pre-MJ portion sizes in the moment. The only reason I didn't is because I knew that about 30 mins after eating I'd feel really, really full, so had to think hard about what was the moment of stopping that would mean in 30 mins I'd feel full but not so overfull that I felt sick or couldn't sleep. There wasn't really anything much I couldn't eat because it didn't agree with me anymore or that I stopped fancying eating, just had to dial spice levels back a tiny bit.

So really the changes I made were related to delayed fullness signals - much smaller portion sizes, higher levels of protein to keep muscle mass up, a bigger percentage of plate given over to vegetables to get nutrients in and fewer to empty carbs. I didn't really do much in the way of diet food - which is what I term food that I don't really like but used to try and eat all the time when I was trying to lose weight (which is obvs why that was never sustainable).

So I suspect on maintenance what will happen as I titrate down is that the delayed fullness feeling will also taper down, and I'll have to rely on more willpower and the better knowledge that I've learned on this journey of what the right portion size and dietary mix is for me to keep the weight off, plus continue to deploy the same kind of strategies when in the "danger zones" that contributed so much to my weight gain (summer holidays, I'm looking at you!) Hopefully my prescriber can give some good advice on how to taper down (not necessarily off for now though).

Puddingpiper · 12/06/2025 13:03

@TheBossOfMewell done you have been tantalisingly close the past couple of weeks. I’m looking forward to following your maintenance journey.

Yellowsubmarine55 · 12/06/2025 13:11

Congratulations @TheBossOfMe you must be chuffed to bits!

Ingangoolie · 12/06/2025 13:27

Chilldrill · 12/06/2025 13:37

@TheBossOfMe fabulous!!

soupforbrains · 12/06/2025 14:58

@TheBossOfMecongrats on reaching goal!

@Beinthepresentmaking it Uber 200lbs is a huge milestone too. Well done! I’ve still got a log way to go to that one!

@Fatmumslim01well done on getting through the stall to a loss.

TheBossOfMe · 12/06/2025 15:00

Well I can confidently report back that my prescriber is clueless about maintenance advice apart from saying stay on your current dosage for two months and then let's review. No advice whatsoever on titrating down, on how to gradually introduce more calories, nada. I'm with Juniper (I had real problems getting anyone to prescribe with a starting BMI of 25.7 even with a doctor's letter flagging that they were recommending it because of fat/waist/diabetes issues) - they're really expensive compared to other providers, but try to justify the cost with a load of bells and whistles. None of which have been in the slightest bit useful, so I'm now really annoyed that their maintenance advice is so basic.

So here's what I think I'm doing, based on what I've read elsewhere, which is a mix of dose adjustments and diet/lifestyle adjustments.

In terms of range - I'm giving myself an acceptable range of 2lb either side of goal as a weekly fluctuation, but with the aim to always return back to goal within 2 weeks of any gain. Never gaining isn't realistic, there will always be weeks when some weight goes on, so the focus needs to be on consistently returning back to baseline rather than accepting the new slightly higher weight.

I will weigh daily. I know I need that as an important tool in my toolbox - not least because it will allow me to track any weight I need to put in the bank ahead of social occasions or weekends away etc.

I'm going to introduce calories back at the level of approx 100 calories removed from deficit per week over a 5 week period. It seems that people who immediately start eating all their calories back, getting rid of the deficit in one go, have had harder problems maintaining at the beginning than people who gradually introduce more over time. If I start doing that now, I shouldn't go too much beyond the 2lb below goal bank weight.

That means I'll have to go back to tracking again for a few weeks, I'm good at estimating calories by sight, but I think for a few weeks MFP will be my friend.

I'm going to remove two cardio sessions a week from my exercise routine and replace them with weights sessions.

I am not going to change much about the nutritional composition about what I'm eating, I've actually really enjoyed most of my meals on this journey, and haven't really denied myself much. So the extra calories will come in slightly larger portion sizes of what I've been eating anyway.

I will continue to photograph all my meals, because it's an easy way for me to track whether I'm being honest about how much I'm eating, and understand why any gain weeks happen.

I'll stay on my current 7.5mg split dose until I'm down to 2lb below goal, because almost everybody seems to have a small bounce when they start to titrate down.

Once I've hit that 2lb below, I'm going to drop down to 5mg once a week, so no second dose, and see if that works at keeping my weight steady (bar that 2lb fluctuation) for 4 weeks.

And then will make a plan for titrating further down, probably first reducing dosage and then increasing time between jabs.

Based on that conversation though, this feels like this is all going to be a bit of an experiment to see what works for me!

Flamethrowers · 12/06/2025 15:23

Thank you everyone for the bra advice!

Justformounjaro · 12/06/2025 15:53

You have done so well @TheBossOfMe and been so clear in your aims to get to where you are and stay there. You remind me very much of a lovely friend I have from south east Asia who works at a million miles an hour and is a mother hen to all. When I read your posts, I hear her voice.

I am glad you will continue posting here 🤗

Fatmumslim01 · 12/06/2025 16:12

Thanks all for the well wishes on my breaking through the stall I don't know how I did it as literally didn't change anything but such is the randomness of our bodies!

Ah @TheBossOfMe that all sounds a bit frustrating with juniper.

Do you want to carry on longer than the 2 months they have suggested?

I am a long way from maintenance but it's something I've been thinking about and I've heard that oushk take lower BMI people so might be worth a look. I haven't used them at all myself but heard alot on here.

soupforbrains · 12/06/2025 17:04

I’m going away for the weekend tomorrow. Just to visit my favourite cousin in Lincolnshire. Is it weird that I want to bring my scales with me? Would it be really weird to do it?

Ingangoolie · 12/06/2025 17:29

@soupforbrains maybe a bit weird. Is it as weird as working out how to take my creatine and collagen powder through check in without looking really suspicious?

Ingangoolie · 12/06/2025 17:33

@Fatmumslim01 I’m now with oushk, got a video call check in with them in a couple of weeks and will ask about maintenance, though I’m a way off that, only half way with weight loss. They do offer it, the main reason I switched to them before my BMI dropped into merely overweight.

Sloelydoesit · 12/06/2025 17:48

I did my first 7.5 dose on Monday. Omg - it's like the first week of 2.5. I don't want to eat a thing! Hoping I get used to it quickly and can get enthusiastic about meals.
I did 2 months of five and was quite enjoying making good choices by myself and using the MJ to not overeat.
Only side affect this week was fatigue the day after. I went to bed at 8.30pm!

TheBossOfMe · 12/06/2025 18:29

@Justformounjaro How very lovely of you to say that. I am indeed a bit of a mother hen to my friends 😂

@Fatmumslim01 Bodies are absolutely random, on some of my slow weeks I did nothing much different from the big loss weeks. Go figure! I don't know how long I want to stay on MJ, but I did think my stupidly expensive supplier might have some actual advice!!!! I'm going to start looking at other providers and see if someone will accept me for maintenance given I'm already on MJ.

@soupforbrains @Ingangoolie You're both making me laugh!

soupforbrains · 12/06/2025 18:34

I think I’m going to do it. I’m packing my scales.

It’s weirdly. Not because I’m fixated on weighing myself. But more because my weigh in day is Saturday and I’ve not missed a single one. And although my cousin will have scales I want my scales because my scales are the best. Obviously.

(but actually it’s because my scales are smart scales which autolog into my app)

I have obviously gone a bit mad.

on the topic of of feeling like we’re smuggling things. I’ve just bought an insulin pen travel case for taking my MJ on holiday. I’m going on a cruise. Not sure if I've mentioned that 😉 7 days in the Greek islands and then a week in Corfu…. In case you hadn’t heard.

@Ingangoolie so what was your BMI when you switched to oushk please? Mines currently 36 down from just under 40 yay! I'm thinking of switching to oushk around 30 but I know they are one of the more expensive suppliers even with discount codes etc so I may wait until more like 26 and continue swapping suppliers each month until then to keep costs down. I can't even imagine being BMI 26 tbh!

Ingangoolie · 12/06/2025 19:19

@soupforbrains mmm think you might’ve mentioned your Greek odyssey, not jealous at all.
And weird is cool and interesting.

@Fatmumslim01 BMI was around 31 when switched to Oushk

soupforbrains · 12/06/2025 20:16

@Ingangooliereally?! I don’t recall that. Did o mention its luxury all inclusive? And the islands? The hopping? The cruise? Grin
