I didn’t expect to need a new thread in under 2 weeks but here we go!

Thanks for all the support everyone. I skimmed the old thread last night and we have over 80 posters (not a typo) starting in the last 2 weeks! I will work out if I can tag regular posters later but the old thread is close to full so wanted to get this up and running for Friday updates.

Jab 2 for me today, I’ve had no side effects so far so bit apprehensive after seeing some posts here, but had a really hard day on Wednesday where I was so hungry all day. Then strangely yesterday I felt iok!

4lbs down though so all good. This weekends challenge is a long standing arrangement to go for dinner tomorrow night, I thought it was a 5 course tasting menu but it’s actually ten - portions will obviously be small but will I make it through it all??

ymemanresu · 02/05/2025 07:36

Morning. I’ve done my 3rd jab this morning 2 days early as i have a few things on Sunday and want to feel well. Down 6 half pounds, was hoping it would be more the second week but it’s got me motivated, i’’m out walking more and cut the alcohol . Good Luck everyone.

wlinewbie0425 · 02/05/2025 07:43

Happy Friday! Happy to report I feel human again after a horrible W2D2 yesterday. Thank goodness that was not nice at all. Interesting though, feeling worst perfectly matched the peak of my levels on the Shotsy graph.

It’s making me rethink next week’s schedule as I have to give an important presentation next Thursday afternoon and could not have done well the way I felt yesterday. May take jab 3 either a day early or a day late.

Checking in for thread 2. I'm going to take second jab today and lost 5lbs in week one.

The first thread was a very popular thread!! I'm glad to have so many people to share it all with.

Chunkysewist · 02/05/2025 07:47

Morning everyone! Weigh day for me too and I lost 4.2lbs 😊 I'm happy with that! Maybe next week I'll get into the next stone bracket 🤞 I don't usually get a big 1st week loss!

Stats now are:
HW 15st 3lbs
SW 14st 6lbs
CW 14st 1.8lbs
GW 10st 7lbs

Well done to my fellow Friday weighers on their losses today 💪 we got this ❤️

I tried out my new electric shaker cup thing this morning for my Protein shake, omg it's so good! Silky smooth!

Anyhoo! Off to my 'sewcial' this morning, catch up in a bit!

I'd love to hear how many courses you manage while on MJ 😊

Especially on day 2 which seems to be peak suppression day - I need all the positive thoughts please! 😂

Wow - so many losses today! Well done everyone!

PeachSnail · 02/05/2025 08:00

Thanks for setting up the new thread @wlinewbie0425!

W2 D4 for me... Felt pretty rough yesterday with nausea. It's pretty energy sapping and kind of spoils enjoyment of food... I'm wondering whether I might need to stick on 2.5 for my 2nd month 😬... Have a little while to decide as I'm planning on doing the "golden dose" and already got a pack of syringes + alcohol wipes.

But the good news is I'm feeling better today. I guess the level of MJ in my system is subsiding

Anyway, enjoy the sunshine today people... It's nearly the long weekend! 😃

Flowerchild547 · 02/05/2025 08:11

W3D3 for me and was floored yesterday. Went to bed at 7:30 and slept on and off for 12 hours. Not like me at all!

Still unsure if it’s a bug or MJ or combination of both but either way it seems like the worst is over.

Thank you @wlinewbie0425 for the new thread!

Selttan · 02/05/2025 08:14

Its been about 24 hours since my first jab.

I was so tired this morning and didn’t want get out of bed.

So far no real side effects. I had a little headache overnight but not too bad.

Based on previous comments I made sure to have some electrolytes before bed and also been drinking plenty of water.

PumpKim · 02/05/2025 08:24

Checking in to make sure I don't lose the thread.
Well done on all the fab losses, and hope everyone with yucky effects feels better soon.
W1D2, woke up early hours with a dry mouth and needing a wee, the perils of drinking loads of water. Kept thinking a headache was starting but I'm fine now I'm up and about.
Going to a gig tonight, I'll be honest I would usually have far too much to drink 🙈 but I'm a bit nervous of over indulging and feeling really poorly, so will probably take it easy. I would also usually get a takeaway on the way home, so be interesting to see if I feel the urge!

Cravingpotatoes · 02/05/2025 08:25

Reposting here! Weigh in this morning….
SW 91kg
CW 87.6kg
GW 68kg
Im so pleased with that! Although I’m convinced now my scales are wrong 🤣

RubyJuno · 02/05/2025 08:29

Morning - 5.4lb down in first week which is pretty good. I’ve never really been much of a dieter apart from a very successful low carbing spell about 15 years ago - lost lots of weight and found it really easy but I got a dreadful hives-type rash which has come back if I’ve ever tried again. Have always been around a 16-18 and not too bothered but put lots more on over lockdown and now in size 20 trousers so I’m determined to give this a good go and maybe get down to a size 14. But I haven’t been that size since I was 19/20 (44 now) so I’m a bit nervous of becoming a different person! Can anyone else relate to that??

Definitely been hungrier the last couple of days and also had a couple of glasses of wine last night so I’m not feeling massively chipper this morning! But had 2nd jab last night and any side effects are definitely wine-related!

My Vidrate electrolytes are arriving this morning - they’ve taken a week, just as an FYI for anyone opting for the trial pack! I’ve been fine with water and had no bowel issues (6 prunes a day has been working!) but every little helps!

Mounraine · 02/05/2025 08:54

I would really advise avoiding things like takeaways and alcohol. Not everyone suffers, but from what I've read of older threads, it does seem to trigger diarrhoea and vomiting in people.

MsRicoletti · 02/05/2025 08:54

@wlinewbie0425 thanks for the new thread. This is my first ever time on mumsnet and the support and community is lovely ❤️

my wicked heartburn last night resolved really quickly with a mega dose of gaviscon and rennies. It’s made me really wary as I haven’t had this side effect before and heartburn isn’t something I’ve ever really struggled with.

im feeling a bit nervous for the weekend, as its a danger zone of crisp and wine usually, and the kids have been talking about a takeaway 😳.

I managed well last weekend (first w/w on MJ) so fingers crossed.

(edited for spelling- dyslexic over here 🤷🏻‍♀️)

I’m not really drinking much and the only effect is feeling a bit more dehydrated and slight headache - probably a slightly heightened effect than it would otherwise have been.

I’m eating pretty cleanly generally, no takeaways, nothing processed apart from a single biscuit on Wednesday! But I think it’s important to “test” elements of your usual diet and learn how to build them in if this is for the long term - it’s about having the things you like but not going mad with them, isn’t it?

dozywelshbird · 02/05/2025 09:15

thanks for the new thread.... was on the other but have namechanged :)

W1D5 today and definitely felt more hunger yesterday, will see what today brings but have read I can take next jab earlier if I am struggling

Have a great day all :)

Agree. I had a (very watered down) couple of glasses of wine the other night and felt dreadful. No D&V but just general nausea and indigestion

Beachbabes · 02/05/2025 09:20

W1 D7 for me today, weigh day and jab tomorrow morning. I can defo feel the effects wearing off, I had a couple of beers last night and usually have some crisps or nibbles with that. I really felt the craving but stayed away. However, I had a very strange night, woke about 4am and felt like I had way more to drink than I did, then I just could not go back to sleep, its gonna be a long day! Its also the first day I have woke up hungry.
Friday's are my nemesis, snacks and drinks. I am thinking of changing my jab day to Fridays! I will have to keep myself occupied this evening and keep strong until morning.

Mounraine · 02/05/2025 09:21

Oops, sorry @RubyJuno that was more in reply to @PumpKim’s post about takeaways and drinks this weekend.

it’s about having the things you like but not going mad with them, isn’t it?

I agree, but after my experience after a Pepsi Max and small bit of Easter chocolate last month I daren’t even risk a little!

violetmondays · 02/05/2025 09:24

Thank you @wlinewbie0425 for the new thread!

Week 2 day 2 for me. And like some of the others on here feeling pretty rubbish today, woke up feeling groggy and shaky and a bit nauseous. Took some Omeprazole and just managed to force down a banana. I remember feeling like this last week and the day 2 night was the worst - woke up shaking several times during the night and in the morning groggy and shaky again. I also had a really bad headache last time but this time I can feel a mild headache but it’s manageable so that might be the electrolytes helping. I’m not sure I’ll want to increase the dose if I get this each time as wouldn’t want it to be any worse. Food for thought!
Happy Friday all and happy bank holiday weekend!!
