I didn’t expect to need a new thread in under 2 weeks but here we go!

Thanks for all the support everyone. I skimmed the old thread last night and we have over 80 posters (not a typo) starting in the last 2 weeks! I will work out if I can tag regular posters later but the old thread is close to full so wanted to get this up and running for Friday updates.

2nd jab last night. So far so good.

I've got the world's smallest bladder and we have lots of plans today (no access to a loo) so I'm not going to have much to drink until I'm home later on. I know its silly but it's the only way I manage on days like this.

Hopefully losing weight helps with the bladder issue? I've always had a weak bladder, even when 8st / size 8 but it's got worse as I've got fatter (although I'm older and have had 3 vaginal deliveries. Sorry TMI at this time in the day 😅)

Will do my 2L easily when I'm home though.

Edited

I've got a similar problem today, we are off to do a walk around a reservoir, only toilets at the start plus it's over an hours drive away 🙈 hopefully there's somewhere I can have a 'wild wee' if I need it 🫣

Coventree · 03/05/2025 09:00

How tall are you @Sweetspinach? I’m 5’4, 206lbs (and 2.5mg doesn’t appear to be having any effect on me, positive or negative (taken 2 injections). Lost 2lb so far (one dropped off this morning!) but feel that would have happened anyway with willpower and the clean eating/no alcohol and have paid £50-odd for the privilege. Feel like I’ll go up to 5mg and be ‘ah, so this is what everyone’s on about’ 🤣

I'm 5ft 1. It's just one of my theories on different effects on different people. I felt nothing until day 2 but it's really kicked in since. I'm w2 d2 and could barely eat a thing yesterday. The thought of alcohol makes me feel like throwing up, whereas the old me would have been counting down the hours til opening a bottle on a Friday night. It's very strange. Quite disconcerting too. I don't really feel like "me"...

MsRicoletti · 03/05/2025 09:09

Coventree · 03/05/2025 09:01

Did you manage to eat okay yesterday?

I actually did ok… I had a protein day as I’ve been struggling to get enough protein in (as just not fussed about food generally).

i had 2 boiled eggs late breakfast.
a protein shake in afternoon.
some cooked chicken and Cottage cheese in evening.
total 750 calories- which I know isn’t enough but I’m not managing many more tbh.

such odd food when I actually write it down … I usually eat salad and veggies with everything, with few carbs.

oooh maybe I’ve slipped into ketosis after days of low calories and a day of just protein ?!

I’ve done keto before and I always felt a bit rubbish in early stages ketosis.

Could it be too much water and/or electrolytes? @MsRicoletti perhaps your washing out certain minerals from your body?

Oh god, I didn’t think of this!!!!!
im just so wildly thirsty and drinking that much is what my body seems to want.

I take electrolytes twice a day, but I’m waiting on my vidrate ones being delivered so am still using the home bargains cheapies.

Sunshineandpool · 03/05/2025 09:02

Sorry you're not feeling good. I really don't know about the dehydration? Have you got scales that measure your body water?

Wow I didn’t even know these existed, no just got a regular scale.

Oh yikes I’ve just googled drinking too much water 😳😳😳
apparently that’s not good to do at all!

I think this is what I did on my first injection. I went from basically drinking no water normally to drinking over 2L on day 1 of MJ and I think that’s what caused my awful night, shaking, headache, and hungover feeling the next day 🫣

Brunocatmon · 03/05/2025 09:35

Morning all.

Well done ro everyone's losses, positive starts. Fingers crossed for no or few side effects for us all.

I've decided not to jab early. My jab day is Sunday night.

Not been hungry this morning but made myself some protein porridge. Ill add pic. 35g protein 449 cals. It's very satisfying.

I've lost 2lb ish since Sunday but I had a d&v bug at the back end of last week so ate nothing and completely emptied my body for 48 hours ( iykwim 🤮) so at the beginning of the week I gained a couple of lb when I started eating again, then relost it. Actually, maybe I've lost 4lb then. 🤔.

Anyway. I'm going to get in the garden later, got a lot of tree surgery work and clearing to do. My dd is coming home from Ireland this afternoon ( she lives there ) as its her 18th birthday tomorrow. So I have to pick her up from the airport later.

I was having a bit of a wobble last night but I've pulled myself together this morning.

SassyLimeHelper · 03/05/2025 09:39

Hi everyone, just checking in at the end of week 1. Just weighed and I've lost 6.6lbs this week - really pleased! I've had 3 meals and 2 snacks per day, staying at 1200 calories and 120g of protein.
I've found it much easier than I thought it would be. I had a migraine on day 2 (but I do get them anyway), however, I've been taking electrolytes since and haven't had any more. My appetite has remained the same every day - never starving but able to eat a reasonable sized meal at reasonable times. I'm no longer clearing my plate just because the food is there. I found meal prepping work lunches for the week really helpful, as I'm just pulling them from the fridge each morning and knowing I'm going to get 25g of protein - no more midweek shopping on the way to work. I've also given up my usual milky, sweet coffee and have stuck to 3.5L of water a day.
I've got two questions, though, if anyone could offer any advice?

  1. I've always struggled with constipation, even with eating more fibre now. I'm going to get some fybogel and prunes today - does anyone have any advice to get things moving? I've only been twice this week.
  2. I'm due my second jab this afternoon but I'm going out with my friends tonight, for the first time in a year. I really don't want to ruin this night out with feeling poorly - can I delay jabbing until tomorrow morning?

Have a lovely weekend all!

This looks yummy! You have inspired me to make some porridge x

Fabulous result @SassyLimeHelper🥳

I’ve been eating a few prunes every day and trying to have watery veggies (like cucumber, tomato’s etc) with every meal. I might need to up the ante too, as things aren’t moving well for me at the moment.

Someone here suggested psyllium husk . In the past chia seeds (soaked overnight in plant milk) have helped me. I would have a few scoops in porridge or blended in a smoothie. I’ve also got some senna tea somewhere that is VERY effective 🫣 so might have a cup of that today.

im interested to see you drink 3.5L water per day. I’ve had a freakout this morning that I may be drinking too much water… as I’m so thirsty all the time… but I’m having similar amount to you.

do you have electrolytes?

Beachbabes · 03/05/2025 09:54

Weigh day today, 4.5lb down, I’m happy with that. Just went for a dip in the sea and off home to do jab #2. Managed to stay off the nibbles last night which is a miracle! Maybe Saturday morning weigh ins are the answer to keeping me focused. Feeling positive for the long weekend.

Have a lovely weekend guys 😊

Thank you so much! It feels so motivating to see an actual change - I've tried for years to calorie count and I think I was eating so compulsively that I didn't even realise I was doing it half of the time.
I'm a bit immune to senna now, after years of constipation, unfortunately, but I'll definitely pick up some Chia seeds too! I tried a Naturya flax seed blend in my morning yoghurt but it was so disgusting I couldn't swallow it😩
I was only drinking coffee and zero cal fizzy pop before but I'm sure they were making me even more bloated. I'm currently having electrolytes in 500ml for my first drink of the day (about 6am), then a 2l bottle while at work, then I keep my 1l bottle by me while watching TV in the evening, just drinking it when I'm thirsty. It has been warm this week, though, so maybe that's why I've had so much! If I've had the electrolytes and the 2l bottle each day, I'm happy.

BeachBodyAim · 03/05/2025 10:36

2nd weigh in and a 4lb loss. So 11lb in total - very happy with that!!!
Doing my 3rd jab in abit - think I’m going to stick to the 2.5mg next month too as the food suppression was huge this week but no SE really (I’m scared the 5mg will have more/worse SE?!)

I was thinking if the food suppression wears off over the following block of 4 weeks I’ll go up to 3.75mg (I’ve got 2 pens of 2.5mg because Medexpress took 12 days to deliver, so me being impatient ordered another one from Ashcroft pharmacy which came in 2 days!!!)
what’s everyone else thinking/planning?! 🤗

GoGoGovy · 03/05/2025 10:50

I’ve just had an email saying my first pen will be delivered this afternoon. 🎉

I am supposed to be going out for a pub lunch today. Do you think I can inject this evening or would it be better to start tomorrow? Thanks

Crikeyalmighty · 03/05/2025 10:51

@BeachBodyAim are you a great deal overweight ? as that isa really big loss in 2 weeks- well done though!! To put it in proportion I am 9lb down at5 weeks and eaten like a saint at 1100 a day, 1400 at weekends.

SkibidiSigma · 03/05/2025 10:51

Well done on the losses everyone!

@BeachBodyAim I'm similar, limited side effects and good suppression on 2.5mg. I think I will buy the 5mg pen and move to 3.75mg meaning I can get an extra dose from the pen without extracting. They are the same price on med express so I might as well. Also that way I can change my mind if the suppression wears off by the end of first pen or I can decide to just stay on 2.5.

@SassyLimeHelper I take Mag07 for constipation. It works like a dream for me. Don't take it every night as it's expensive, just when I'm having big problems - I have IBS and a tendency to be constipated.

violetmondays · 03/05/2025 10:53

@BeachBodyAim congrats on your loss that’s great!!

I am also hoping to stay on 2.5 for as long as possible and will only consider going up if cravings return. I am only in week 2 though…

I’m really happy for you, it’s such a great feeling to see the results ✨

I’ve stopped drinking zero cal fizzy drinks and fizzy water while on MJ and I’m convinced this is why my bloat has gone so quickly!

There is something about zero cal fizzy drinks causing stomach bloating , I recall my slimming world coach (many moons ago) talking about this a lot. Makes sense, I guess those bubbles have to go somewhere 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve stopped because I think the one time I had a fizzy drink on MJ was the day of the heartburn horror!

Not posted for a few days but read the thread with interest.
Coming to the end of week 2 for me. Lost 4lb first week but just 2 this week. Jab 3 tonight.
Good luck to all.

catchingzzzeds · 03/05/2025 11:27

@GoGoGovyI would have a light pub lunch and inject tonight.

Mounraine · 03/05/2025 11:38

@SassyLimeHelper I haven't read anything that suggests there's a problem with having 8-days between two jabs.

catchingzzzeds · 03/05/2025 11:38

I’m following but it’s hard to keep
up! It’s great to have so many on the thread.

I was due to inject yesterday morning but had a special family catch up last night so injected when I got home instead.

I posted on Wk1 D4/5 to say I felt my suppression had reduced but it actually didn’t, even last night Wk1D7 I struggled to eat a third of my meal. Thinking about it now, I think I could have delayed my 2nd jab as my suppression is ridiculous today. I preferred my experience last week where I still had hunger cues and had to use willpower which was made easier by MJ. I don’t want to starve myself to a normal weight I want to change my bad habits of overeating and snacking when not hungry. Hopefully the suppression will settle over the next day or two.
I forced down some Greek yoghurt and raspberries and I feel uncomfortably full, I think I’ll wait to eat anything else until this evening.
