I didn’t expect to need a new thread in under 2 weeks but here we go!

Thanks for all the support everyone. I skimmed the old thread last night and we have over 80 posters (not a typo) starting in the last 2 weeks! I will work out if I can tag regular posters later but the old thread is close to full so wanted to get this up and running for Friday updates.

I chose a Caesar salad at the hotel last night, and pushed myself to eat most of it despite not being hungry at all (I’d eaten a wrap about 6 hours beforehand for lunch, no breakfast before that ). I didn’t eat the croutons but ate most of the chicken and lettuce.

wow did I regret that salad… stomach ache all night and felt truly awful 😭

im still feeling weird this morning, gurgling tummy that feels like it’s got rocks in it!

I’m still clearly getting the hang of balancing getting nutrition and regular fuel , with managing the lack of appetite and my body’s limits to how much I can actually eat in 24 hours.

On reflection , I probably should have eaten half of the wrap at lunch, then half of the salad at dinner??

Anyone else still working this balancing act out?

Oh no, you’d think a Caesar salad would be okay 😱

Sorry, @crunchymum getting doses mixed up 🤣

catchingzzzeds · 16/05/2025 10:21

@TeatimeForTheSoul oh lovely 🩷 There’s lots of good coming your way, enjoy that feeling of hope- you’re investing in yourself and your future

catchingzzzeds · 16/05/2025 10:23

@Crunchymum yes you need a syringe with a needle attached, if you search on YouTube you’ll find videos of users extracting leftover meds from their pens

catchingzzzeds · 16/05/2025 10:26

@MsRicoletti I’m trying really hard to eat in a balanced and nutritious way but it’s not easy as my appetite comes and goes. I find eating the protein and veg on my plate before anything else helps. Hope your stomach settles soon

catchingzzzeds · 16/05/2025 10:28

@PeachSnail I have read about people splitting their weekly dose and doing jabs twice a week, that may help you?

catchingzzzeds · 16/05/2025 10:30

@Steala fingers crossed the next dose is the one for you

Coventree · 16/05/2025 10:33

@Crunchymum not being dense - it’s a learning curve for us all! Yes, if you’ve done 4 full doses of 60 clicks, the pen will lock and you have to use a syringe to get the remaining liquid out and inject into you (a process I didn’t enjoy doing ☹️ [but fully aware it was my choice to do so!]).

Crunchymum · 16/05/2025 10:34

I'll also try stomach today I think. Will be interested to see if it makes any difference.

The past week has made me realise I definitely need to move up and I have absolutely no qualms to do so.

Here's hoping my final week on 2.5mg isn't too difficult.

Thank you so much.

I think I'm understanding now.

The left overs / golden dose is totally different from changing the amount from a working pen (taking 3.75mg instead of 5mg for example)

I've decided for my own convenience that I'm going to stick with the pen doses.... unless I have any horrible SE on 5mg and then i'll be back with more questions 😁

Coventree · 16/05/2025 11:06

Yep, if you go under a full dose (i.e. do 45 clicks on a 5mg pen to get a 3.75mg dose), you can use those unused clicks after your fourth dose to get another dose out (i.e. 15 unused clicks per week x 4 = 60 clicks so one full 5mg dose or another 3.75mg dose, or however you want to split it).

You just can’t go over 4 full doses without using a syringe 😊

Wondering if anyone has any quick high protein/low carb lunch ideas? I've been eating ryvita with cottage cheese pretty much since the beginning and I enjoy it but would be grateful for a bit of variety. I don't want to cook anything, very often I only have time for a quick grab and go.

Meal prepping a bean salad has been my go-to lunch since starting this.

@TeatimeForTheSoul your post really touched my heart. I can relate to this so much.

Having lost a bit of weight and seeing the small changes in my body (and importantly how I’ve felt as a result) has given me a lot to think about in terms of my self esteem and generally emotional wellbeing.

I just wanted to say thank you for being so honest and sharing this, and how relatable and helpful it is to hear others are also feeling this way.

we have got this! We are all in this together and I agree the support of this group is EVERYTHING ❤️

TeatimeForTheSoul · 16/05/2025 12:50

@violetmondays I have a box with mostly chopped salad veg (radish, pepper, cucumber, tomato, spring onion, celery, etc), add a few seeds, toss with olive oil and balsamic, then top with chicken or salmon etc. For a treat add a tiny bit of Parmesan on top.

TeatimeForTheSoul · 16/05/2025 13:07

Thank you @catchingzzzeds and @MsRicoletti ❤️
This anonymous space is so valuable as it feels safer to show a vulnerable side.

However just discovered it’s not wise to be feeling emotional when picking up a DC after a GCSE. They’ve had a really tough time through High School, and before, so when they were telling me how they’d managed tricky questions … I burst into floods of proud mum tears!
Suffice to say they are now feeling very loved and appreciated 😍

bridgetreilly · 16/05/2025 13:22

Saw the nurse practitioner this morning on W4D2. Have lost 11lbs. Very happy indeed. She has increased me to 5mg from next week.

Extremely grateful for an NHS prescription (diabetes) - I think those of you doing syringes to get your money’s worth are much braver than me!

I find I only need one meal in a day, and just a small snack for the other. But two half-sized meals is probably a better way of doing it.

Hawkmoth · 16/05/2025 13:29

I am eating 3 to 4 very small meals a day. Lucky if I manage to eat the volume of my fist. Really focussing on protein and trying to bulk out with veg/ pulses.

Coventree · 16/05/2025 13:36

Aw, how lovely @TeatimeForTheSoul and @MsRicoletti! This is a great supportive space and I love that we’re all going through it together!

Re lunches, I do prep ahead for things I can quickly combine together for lunch. Firstly, boiled eggs, I do about 6 of them and then put them in the fridge so I can grab and peel one. Secondly, cooked chicken - I cook a pack of mini fillets then when cooled, put 2-3 (about 100g) into separate zip-loc bags and freeze them. Means I can grab a pack out of the freezer at night when sorting lunches and it’s defrosted and ready in the fridge when needed. And finally I cook a large bowlful of quinoa (which is a complete protein when cooked…not entirely sure what that means but it sounds good!), then add a chopped onion and a chopped pepper, zest and juice of a lemon or two, a glug of balsamic vinegar, and a glug of extra virgin olive oil. Mix it all up, cover with foil and put in the fridge to grab a spoonful or two on salads, vegetables, most things really.

Then with other stuff like a handful of nuts, a 20g-ish chunk of cheddar, some salad leaves, an apple, satsuma, grapes, etc, I pick and mix bits to make a quick lunch.

Crunchymum · 16/05/2025 14:43

Is anyone staring a new thread? I think we only have space for 30 or so posts left.

wlinewbie0425 · 16/05/2025 14:44

On it @Crunchymum🙂 literally just came back and thought omg!
