Couldn't see a thread for may but hoping I can find fellow starters to chat with. I've opted to go with SheMed and have just received my blood test kit through so should be starting within the next week or 2!

@Sia9 There is a post somewhere in this forum about a medical article by Gary Taubes. It isn't too dense to read, but it does offer some really interesting insight as to why some of us can't/don't lose the weight. Reading it helped me to reframe my internal negative self talk quite a bit!

Mounraine · 04/05/2025 11:51

@Phat2fin sorry to hear about your side effects, that sounds miserable. Does it make you consider coming of the MJ?

LessWeightKate · 04/05/2025 11:51

I am ridiculously tired today, which links to this weekend being the highest point of medication in my system.

@GoldieLookingBoots Med express took five days to get back to me last time, and then only to let me know they were busy, so I went elsewhere. I think demand is VERY high right now.

wantmorenow · 04/05/2025 11:59

Hi - looking to join. Have ordered MJ for first time and waiting for DHL to deliver today. Was a spur of the moment order on Thursday. Am only just into the BMI for this, but just been diagnosed with arthritis in hips and knee after being told it was an injury and I just needed to be patient and exercise back into health :-(.

Have finally given up on will power and need to shift at least 15kg if I am to be able to walk around again without the debilitating pain I'm currently in.

Questions - I have gone with Simply Online Healthcare (just came up in google), I have got the jab easily and swiftly but am now wondering whether I am missing out on something as have not got a blood test as others have mentioned, not the graph thingy someone here also mentioned earlier? Have a missed out on something important?

Yeah, definitely. I’ll give it another chance on Friday when the second dose is due but if it doesn’t ease up I’ll probably stop after that. I’m just desperate to loose the weight, not only that but the research suggests it helps reduce inflammation and I have chronic inflammation (my CRP and ESR are always mildly raised). I just want to feel healthy.

I have to say I find the lack of appetite unnerving as I only feel like this when I'm ill or hungover! Therefore I'm associating it with something is wrong with me rather than these drugs are working. I need to get something in me before I go for a run shortly with friends but my stomach feels full. I don't like this feeling but know I'll be happy when weight starts coming off.

I feel the same way. It’s quite disconcerting. But I’m on day 3 now and the effect is starting to fade a bit - I don’t feel constantly stuffed (and bloated). I’m still quite full but not uncomfortably so.

Phat2fin · 04/05/2025 12:36

@wantmorenow different providers provide different things with varying levels of support. Most basic being just getting the MJ. Some providers like Voy and Juniper also offer support but are much more expensive. I think it’s just SheMed who do the blood test (I went with SheMed) but I think that’s largely because they want to collect the data for trials.
I think the graph that was mentioned is an app you can download to track your injections called Shotsy.

I've said this before, but back in April when I only managed one jab, I felt so lonely and rubbish about my side effects. I felt like I was a bit of a failure and also let down by my body. I finished the month with just 1mg jabs, to build my confidence up again. May is my second attempt and if it goes bad it'll be last. I hear what you're saying though, the promise of finally losing this weight and getting back to being Me is huge.

Thank you - super helpful. Will check out the app - I do love an app especially with a graph :-) I just plunged in without over thinking which is my normal default. Still not quite taken it in lol but I knew the status quo isn't working. Hoping for a reduction in alcohol attraction and I think I saw somewhere some people get reduced inflammation?

On day 3 now and have a slight headache. Not sure if it’s just coincidence as I’m suffering with a bit of hay fever and a sore throat anyway.

I made prawn linguine for dinner last night, had a tiny portion and could only manage half. Haven’t thought about food really at all. Had my food shopping delivered this morning, felt like I couldn’t be bothered to eat anything. Is this what it feels like or is it, again, just a coincidence?

Had no wine last night with dinner, didn’t even think about it. My husband was surprised when I said no. Injustice had a large glass of water with lime and lemon slices and ice.

I weighed myself just. I was 84.3kg on Friday, I’m 83kg now, but I’ve barely eaten anything I suppose.

Is anyone else getting side effects? I’ve had terrible eggy burps all afternoon/evening along with diarrhoea. I hope the side effects pass quickly!

I hear you. No diarrhoea yet but I was doing errands on my bike this morning and everytime I went over a bump or bounced through a pothole I burped. I’m drinking buckets of peppermint tea now and I think it might be helping!

Everyone seems to have secured their prescription really quickly. I applied to medicine marketplace on Monday. Got a video consultation on Thursday but not likely to receive my 2.5mg pen until mid next week. What was everyone else’s experience?

I applied with Juniper last Sunday and received approval on Thursday, so a little later than I’d expected. Received my first box yesterday though and started on 2.5 immediately as I just want to get going!
SW 13st 12lbs
Target 9st 12lbs
Good luck 😊

Mounraine · 04/05/2025 14:07

Thats pretty much how it feels for me at the highest levels. Doesn’t last all 7 days.

Woodywig · 03/05/2025 10:42

Hi ladies,

finally plucked up the courage / took the plunge- signed up with shemed & started my first dose of Mounjaro yesterday. (After keeping in the fridge for a week!)

I’ve got a lot to lose - starting at 124 kg yesterday.

I’ve always been bigger - but during my twin pregnancy I piled on a lot of weight. My twins are nearly 8 now - but I’ve not been able to lose the weight - and have yoyo’d between 117 and 127kg.

A couple of years ago I stopped dieting and have focused on being fit and healthy - rather than slim. I walk lots (15k steps a day) and I do strength & cardio session twice a week so my fitness isn’t too bad - underneath all the insulation I’ve got a lot of muscle now.

food wise my meals are pretty healthy but portions too big - and the unhealthy snacking is my main downfall.

my main reason for starting is because we’ve booked a holiday abroad (first for 10 years) and I’m scared about not fitting in the plane seats 😔. The holiday is 12 weeks away so hoping this world for me & I can drop a good few kg by then. First goal is 115 kg.

Anyway I just wanted to say hi. This is my first ever post on mumsnet! Look forward to
Joining you all on this journey.

Good luck @Woodywig I know what you mean about seats on plane!

Sia9 · 04/05/2025 14:31

This is so weird. I’ve not eaten anything since my porridge (9am) and I’m not hungry or even thinking about having lunch.

Thinking I should probably eat something though!!

SussexLass87 · 04/05/2025 15:40

Hiya - can I join?

First jab yesterday...feeling apprehensive and excited?!

Not hungry at all today - might be all in my mind - but a good start? She says hopefully...!

Starting weight 16st 13lbs

Weeblenomore · 04/05/2025 16:56

Getting ready to go out for a family meal & this is when it really hits how much I need to do this … trying to find something which (a) fits comfortably (at least tolerable until I get back and remove!) and (b) I don’t look too bad in 🤦‍♀️ It’s a challenge 😂

wantmorenow · 04/05/2025 17:01

Well the DPD driver apparently couldn't deliver as I wasn't home but I lterally left the front door wide open as I was so on edge about waiting for the delivery so now it's gone back to the depot until Tuesday. Not sure how that works with a chilled medicine. Absolutely fuming. No-one at DPD to take a complaint and a stupid chat bot arguing with me :-( Gutted and grumpy as I was all psyched up for the jab.

Oh no! How infuriating.😩

wantmorenow · 04/05/2025 17:07

@DottyMcDiet thank you. Think my diet's started early as i'm so wound up by the stress of ordering and receiving it that I don't feel like eating lol. DPD sent me a pic of some random place and said I wasn't in. FFS! Will the pen still be usable for the full 4 weeks now I wonder?

Starlightstargazer · 04/05/2025 17:14

Hi! I’ve just done my first injection this lunchtime. Bit nervous about it all / side effects. Looking forward to losing weight after so many years of being big and calorie counting etc not working.

LessWeightKate · 04/05/2025 17:39

@wantmorenow Oh, no! I'm pretty sure your provider won't want you to use the pen when it eventually arrives. If you haven't already, maybe message them with the DPD details so they can get the ball rolling on sending out a fresh pen. Such a pain for you!

Thank you. Seems my provider don't reissue pens or refunds for failed delivery if I was out. Which I wasn't but driver says I was. 😥

Oh, no! Even with the photo of the wrong address? That's really harsh.

If you have any social media, maybe tag the provider and DPD with the photo and ask why that's acceptable. One of them might relent!
