Couldn't see a thread for may but hoping I can find fellow starters to chat with. I've opted to go with SheMed and have just received my blood test kit through so should be starting within the next week or 2!

I haven’t heard about taking paracetamol, that’s interesting. Second the advice to drink plenty of water every day!

motherpear · 03/05/2025 22:07

Hi, can I join please? Just placed my order and will be starting as soon as it arrives. Nervous about side effects as get IBS flare ups but aware there are also side effects to being 3stone overweight! 😬

Lonestar1988 · 03/05/2025 22:07

Its been 12 hours since I took my first dose. Not noticed anything yet apart from slightly dry mouth.

I was wondering if other people are being open about taking the injections? So far I have told my partner. I am also finding myself questioning friends who have recently lost a shed load of weight 🤣

I am most excited to feel better for my kids. I am about 3 stone heavier than 5 years ago. I dont know how I have let it happen.

Phat2fin · 03/05/2025 22:44

@Lonestar1988 I’ve not told anyone except my husband and my parents. They are all supportive and my parents even offered to help with the cost. I’m not planning on telling anyone else though.

AlrightTrouble · 03/05/2025 22:57

@Lonestar1988I’ve told one of my best friends. Nobody else needs to know. This is a gift that I’m giving to myself.

tkband3 · 03/05/2025 23:02

I’ve told my husband, who was really supportive (I was quite surprised tbh) and my daughters who were a bit judgmental. So far have only told one friend who I knew wouldn’t judge and may tell one other but other than that keeping it quiet.

tkband3 · 03/05/2025 23:04

I’ve made it through the first day! Haven’t felt like eating much really, but wasn’t sure if that was because I was scared to eat! Made fajitas for dinner and just had a very small portion. Ordinarily I’d have been helping myself to seconds (and thirds) and dipping tortilla chips in the guacamole but just didn’t fancy it. And I haven’t eaten any chocolate this evening which is completely unheard of!!

Phat2fin · 03/05/2025 23:45

Is anyone else getting side effects? I’ve had terrible eggy burps all afternoon/evening along with diarrhoea. I hope the side effects pass quickly!

Hysterectomynext · 03/05/2025 23:47

I’ve told everyone who will listen. Strangers and friends. Everyone. I think that’s because I’m an oversharer. I know it’s not normal to be this way but I have to accept I’ll never change at this stage of life But I hope at least my weight will change.

I’m very seriously unwell which is a lot to do with the extra weight I’m carrying. I cannot lose it no matter what I try so this is a last resort for me. I took first ever injection on Thursday afternoon. I’m weighing myself constantly. Nothing lost so far. Today I was extremely tired and couldn’t go to the gym. But I’ll try to get there tomorrow and keep working on myself.

sorry for rambling but good luck to everyone. I identify with so many people here and really need the support

So far only tiredness and that might not be the injection. I’ve been pushing myself a bit too hard at the gym. I have a full sensation in my stomach but I’ve definitely felt hungry and needed to eat during the day.

Herewegoagain80 · 04/05/2025 06:32

So that’s my first full day over and done with and I’m so hungry. I’ve had no side effects but also no suppression. I feel exactly the same as I did before taking it. What am I doing wrong!

I’ve been drinking lots of water and trying to eat healthily with more protein. Yesterday I had:

scrambled egg & wholemeal toast
chicken salad in wholemeal pitta (I even ate the extra chicken I’d put aside for tomorrow as I was still hungry an hour after lunch)
chicken pie, spinach, peas & potato

I might be expecting too much too soon but so many people have said that their suppression kicked in a few hours after the first jab. I wonder if I’ll have to put up with no suppression for the first 4 weeks and then it might start working when I increase the dose next time round. May is going to be tough!

Iggy35 · 04/05/2025 06:55

I had the jab on Friday, and apart from some burps, and occasional slight nausea, no major side effects. However I do not feel hungry, and Im struggling to eat even a very small portions. Just don't have the appetite at all.

I think the nausea came about after I ate something I didn't fancy (was just trying to get some food down).

I'm down 2.1kg/4.5lbs since Friday am.

Mounraine · 04/05/2025 06:57

You’re not necessarily doing anything wrong. 2.5 just gets the body used to the drug for many people @Herewegoagain80 .
The only thing I could think of is that I wouldn’t be able to get away with eating bread and pastry at every meal.

Lonestar1988 · 04/05/2025 07:46

Morning all. It’s encouraging to see some have had appetite suppressant early on but I woke up this morning with food on my mind. Going to try and just trust the process and its not yet been 24 hours since first jab. I am
alsp due on so not helping the situation. Hope everyone has a good day x

stripesdotsdashes · 04/05/2025 08:18

I have to say I find the lack of appetite unnerving as I only feel like this when I'm ill or hungover! Therefore I'm associating it with something is wrong with me rather than these drugs are working. I need to get something in me before I go for a run shortly with friends but my stomach feels full. I don't like this feeling but know I'll be happy when weight starts coming off.

What did you eat during the day, or even the day before. I read up a lot on sulphur burps as it's one of the things I was worried about. It's all to do with what you eat, so anything containing a lot of sulphur can cause it. Because the food is just sitting there in your stomach, it sort of ferments. So things like cauliflower and broccoli, leeks, onions, eggs etc can all cause it apparently. And anything too carby can as well.

I'm also not feeling too much suppression so far. I'm now on week 1 day 3 and feel completely normal appetite-wise. I think day 1 was the only day I felt any real suppression. Having said that, I'm taking MJ for T2, and my CGM tells me it's really working on my blood sugars, so that's a huge positive.

tostaky · 04/05/2025 08:28

Hello all, im about to start now. I think i’ll go with shemed.

Same. I took my first dose on Thursday night. Friday I was ok (think I was excited) but yesterday I was RAVENOUS! I have ramped up my walking this week and done more steps than I’ve done in over a year as I am sick of feeling 🐖

my next pen is due end of May. I would like to look for a discount (current provider was £170 for 2.5mg without a discount) so I’m unsure when to order if they take a while for delivery

good luck today everyone 🥰

P.S I’m 5ft 6 & 13st 1lb

IndieRocknRoll · 04/05/2025 08:42

Day 2 for me and don’t feel any different yet. Haven’t woken up feeling hungry/or full.
Would quite happily eat something if it was offered.

Coffeeandallthebooks · 04/05/2025 09:18

May I join in please? I had my first MJ jab last Tuesday evening. Have been fine apart from Thursday when I felt nauseous all day and was sick in the evening. Since then just some indigestion. Been trying to stay away from the scales but gave in this morning and I've lost 3 lbs so I hope I can keep going with this!

SW: 15 1
CW: 14 11
GW 10.7

Good luck to everyone and definite sympathy to everyone who has also had side effects, hope they go away and we all continue onwards and downwards!

AlrightTrouble · 04/05/2025 09:25

Plucked up the courage to jab last night, the needle is tiny and as I carry so much weight on my tummy, it was totally fine (for once!). Today will be my first full day on it. I’m not expecting miracles with the first pen, just happy to have finally committed to doing it. No symptoms so far but it’s early doors of course.

GoldieLookingBoots · 04/05/2025 11:00

Hello, I’m marking my place in this thread. I’ve just ordered my first Mounjaro having been looking into it for a while. I haven’t been approved yet, but I have a lot to lose. Can anybody advise how long it took you to get approval from MedExpress?
I already suffer with IBS, so the side effects that I’ve been hearing about are hopefully no worse than that. I’m also going to try peppermint oil capsules to help, as 2 people I know have recommended that for the wind situation.

Ah, that’s annoying. I had cheese and crackers for lunch with strawberries, then a tomato/bean/orzo bake with salad for dinner. I’m really not keen on eating meat so get most of my protein from beans and lentils which are my favourite food! They don’t usually make me gassy though - probably because I eat them so frequently.

My diarrhoea is really bad now literally coming out like water - sorry, TMI! Never experienced anything like it as I’m normally constipated. SheMed included Loperamide (for diarrhoea) and Windeeze in the pack they sent so I’ve taken those.

On the plus side I can’t imagine wanting to eat ever again 😂

Sia9 · 04/05/2025 11:32

So almost 24 hours. Not sure how I feel. I still felt hungry this morning but I couldn’t finish my porridge which is unheard of. Normally wolf it down in 2 mins. I felt queasy. I wouldn’t say full on nauseous though.

Struggling with the water intake. Is anyone adding no added sugar squash ?

To the poster who I asked I’ve only told my mum, husband and best friend. I don’t know why but I feel a bit ashamed. Like why can’t I just lose the weight without it ??
