Couldn't see a thread for may but hoping I can find fellow starters to chat with. I've opted to go with SheMed and have just received my blood test kit through so should be starting within the next week or 2!

Hi everyone
@Sia9 your stats are very similar to mine. No SE except mild nausea at times & mild diarrhoea, which is normal for me.
Just haven't felt like eating, but had a bereavement in the last week & even though I knew it was coming it has affected me more than I expected. Maybe losing weight a bit too quickly

Hey all,
can I join this group? Been trying to shift weight for some years after being immobile for health for a fair period, just never been able to get back on track being a busy working mom with the joint problems 🫠🫠
I did my first jab last night (14th 6pm), I am nervous about side effects as generally a bit iffy in reactions to medications. The jab itself was a breeze I felt, pleasantly surprised how small the needle is actually. Woke up this morning with an icky tummy, which I definitely expected, so hoping that wears off a little.
Super excited to see if this helps me in anyway shift some unwanted weight <3

Bundleflower · 15/05/2025 07:37

W1D4 currently 14 stone 10 pounds so a loss of 5 pounds so far.
Aware that’ll mostly be water but I’ll take it. I’m starting to feel that getting into the 13 stone range may be a shorter term goal than I expected which is making me feel really motivated. Must keep moving.

ElsieJay · 15/05/2025 07:38

Welcome, @selfesteemsearcher!
Hope everything goes well for you - plenty of support on here if you need it .

BerfyTigot · 15/05/2025 07:57

Day 3 and I've woken up to amazing eggy burps 😆 and mild diarrhoea, but I'm prone to that anyway.

Otherwise no major side effects and I'm managing to avoid jumping on the scales every few minutes 🙌

Hope everyone else doing ok 👍

lissie123 · 15/05/2025 08:13

W2D1
well it was a massive struggle between me and the fridge yesterday before I took my second injection. I was starving!! I have had very low suppression if any in the last 2/3 days and it’s been a challenge not to overeat. After the doing the jab later yesterday things calmed down but I would say my suppression is still light. Hopefully this will improve as I go up the doses.SEs have been mild constipation metallic taste and slight headaches

I've just had my first dose!

I am 5 ft 4 ins.

SW 13 st 10lbs

Waist 41 in 😳

I noticed there was a bit of liquid on the end of the needle when I pulled the pen away. Does everyone else get that? I'm a bit worried that it hasn't all gone in!

lissie123 · 15/05/2025 08:16

@FancyNewt well done . I was terrified doing my first jab. Second one I was more relaxed. I think there was a tiny bit of liquid at the end of the needle when I pulled away but I’m not sure. Did you count for five seconds once the dose was dispensed before taking the needle out?

NikkiRiverFree · 15/05/2025 08:25

Hi All,
I'm so glad I found this forum.
I'm going to collect my first 2.5mg Mounjaro pen this morning. I'm off work today but at work in a very demanding physical role tomorrow but then I have the weekend off.
Can anyone advise me if I should take my first jab today or wait until tomorrow evening?
I am very worried about side effects but I need to give this a go as I have been very overweight my life try just about every diet going! Any advice would be fantastic, thank you.

Weightlossprincess · 15/05/2025 08:27

So my end of week 1 weigh in.

I've actually just cried a little..... lost 8.25 pounds!!!!

I know that level won't and wouldn't be healthy to sustain, but I've struggled with my weight my entire life ( remember being put on " diets" in primary school even), and i can actually see that this may change it!

So
F, 5"5"
Sw: 21 stone 2.25 pounds
w1d7: 20 stone 8.5 pounds

Thank you. Yes I did hold it there for 5 secs.

Well done @Weightlossprincess

Hi, can I join please? You've all given me such motivation as my first week has gone on. My 1st weigh in this morning before 2nd dose tonight. 5lb loss! I'm over the moon!

Took the 1st dose last Thursday night and didn't feel the needle at all (husband helped :) Complete suppression from Friday to Tuesday midday (I had to push myself to eat, but no cravings at all for sweets, crisps and really put off by the thought of wine!). No SE, a bit of a dry mouth but makes me drink more water which can't be a bad thing as I usually forget. From Tuesday afternoon, some thoughts of food started creeping in but still very manageable, and when I did eat, I felt full very quickly. I kept on with healthy choices, motivated by the Thursday morning weigh in looming. And result! So happy right now.

Checking in, love catching up with everyone's progress! Hoping for a bit of downtime from work so I can catch up properly.

Start of week 3 for me on the 2.5mg.
SW: 15st 0
CW: 14st 5lbs.

Am absolutely buzzing! Had a bit if a day off yesterday, but regretted it when the full feeling came, bloating, nausea, urgh.
Back on it today with tracking and water. Drank over 3L yesterday 🤐

26dX · 15/05/2025 09:02

@NikkiRiverFreei tend to do mine nearer to the evening just incase of any SE, i only had a slightly mild headache on day after! Good luck xx

DBatteryBand · 15/05/2025 09:24

Week 1, Day 5 and just had the most unusual experience. Went to the supermarket for one specific item and instead of rolling around, chucking stuff into the trolley just because I wanted to eat it, I only bought the item I'd gone in for. Very unusual. I looked at all the biscuits and cakes but just turned my nose up at it! Totally out of character.

Suppression really good so far. I have taken to having a small glass of cold chocolate milk (no fancy protein stuff, just chocolate milk) when I get in from work as I start to feel a bit odd by that point in the day, as not eating much between breakfast and dinner.

Sia9 · 15/05/2025 09:27

@Optimum19very similar !

Similar weight loss too. Was you quite surprised? I assumed being shorter weight loss would be more like 4lb over the 2 weeks

@DBatteryBand Doing the food shop is WILD on MJ 😅 I had a moment last week where I looked around at all the heaving shelves in Tesco and wondered how the heck I'd ever eaten any of it. Or wanted any of it. Didn't even make it to the wine aisle!

I already knew about UPFs, but something about MJ has absolutely turned me off anything that isn't fresh, or as close to whole as possible.

WILD!

BerfyTigot · 15/05/2025 10:03

Just vomited and had several episodes of diarrhoea. No longer mild 😥
I'm driving 5 hours across the country later on today. Can't leave the loo atm.

Hoping this is a temporary problem while I'm getting used to the drug.

Hearditonapodcast · 15/05/2025 10:06

3rd jab day for me, just weighed and I've lost 11lb in total over 2 weeks! 7lb the first week and 4lb this week. I know it will slow down, but I'm very pleased with that!

I've had no SE other than a bit of heartburn, which I'm prone to anyway due to some of the meds I take for other conditions. Interestingly, although I have heartburn most nights now, it's actually much better than before I started MJ.
I've stuck to a wholefood, Mediterranean style diet, not counting calories, and eating 3 meals a day, but not needing to snack in-between at all. And, so far, it feels easy as anything.

Sorry you're experiencing this :( Have you identified what might be making it worse? Have you tried loperamide? I don't use it myself - I've not really ever suffered from diarrhoea and generally think "better out than in" - but DP swears by it.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 15/05/2025 10:19

Blimey @BerfyTigot that's horrendous, you poor thing. @2old4thisshit How are you holding up? I was reading through a thread of folks that started MJ last year and it was really useful - lots of people have made considered, slow increases rather than going from 2.5 to 5 to 7.5 and so on - they've gone for quarter or half increases each week to help with the side effects. It makes a lot of sense and could really help those that are hit by awful side effects.

How are you @Col28? And @Mounraine? I'm conscious that this is a fast-moving thread but didn't want those that are having a hard time to disappear in amongst other posts.

I'm on day ... 4? Injected on Sunday afternoon? and I woke up bright and early and had a shower before work, unheard of - usually shower in the evening. That bright-eyed, bushy-tailedness has gone now, I feel rough, almost like I'm due on. I'm not though but I've got cramps into my thighs.

Painkillers and coffee and water.

Catty123Ma · 15/05/2025 10:22

Hey there! I am still waiting on my clinical assessment to be complete with MedExpress. I really wanted to start today.. I dropped all my information in on Monday.

@DidILeaveTheGasOn this terrifies me also. I have. Two very small kids and work FT.. I was thinking of starting in half the dose. I know it might be a waste of money but can’t risk the side effects and happy to lose very slow! Do you know anyone that started on lower than 2.5. That being said a very low dose might not have any effect.. but I suppose you could move up the folllwing week or whenever..
