Couldn't see a thread for may but hoping I can find fellow starters to chat with. I've opted to go with SheMed and have just received my blood test kit through so should be starting within the next week or 2!

@SussexLass87@AccidentalPrawnYouFool I’ve noticed this. I’m prone to fluctuating moods (peri, hormones generally) but I’m much more even-tempered.

W2 D4. Very mild constipation as a SE but nothing else. I’ve started taking an electrolyte fizzer in the mornings alongside my usual vitamins. The biggest difference is, of course, the lack of food noise. I could go all day without eating and not be phased in the slightest.

I’m not weighing regularly as I don’t want scales in the house (a lifetime of watching my mother weigh twice a day has put me off!) so will do a monthly check-in, but can already see and feel a significant difference.

It’s lovely to read all your experiences! Im still waiting for my 1st pen. I went with shemed and est delivery was today but i still havenet received tracking info so inguess its not happening.
also i keep eating and drinking out of fear i soon wont be able to enjoy all of these pleasures… i wonder if im going to feel a bit depressed if i no longer enjoy food and wine… Confused

I had the first dose on Monday, managed to put on 4lb in a couple of days cos I ate and drank it all incase I never enjoyed food or drink again. I am still worried that I might not once it starts working because I enjoy socialising and now and again getting drunk 😂 not afraid to admit this. It is a big park of my enjoyment in life. Maybe I'll replace it with something else who knows!?!

Bundleflower · 14/05/2025 07:35

I know my scales are shit but they’re reading that half way through my first week I’ve put on 1kg 😡surely not?

SussexLass87 · 14/05/2025 07:35

@ml512 I started off logging calories into My Fitness Pal but realised it was making me think about food too much so I've stopped and focusing on intermittent fasting and eating the Mediterranean way. Like above - I've tried that way of eating before and found it tough to stick to on a longer term basis...this time it just feels easy.

As a family we got rid of a lot of UPF last year so focusing on listening to my body. Dinner last night was a lovely salad with eggs and some gammon. Very small portion and I was stuffed!

ElsieJay · 14/05/2025 07:43

@Col28 - sorry to hear that , also concerning that the injections have such a long term impact : fine if you get on okay with them, but not good news for you .
Look after yourself , if a couple of days of dioralyte and dry toast don’t do the trick maybe a trip to the GP as a precaution?

Yes I’m feeling much less hormonal too. I wonder why this is!

BluNavy · 14/05/2025 08:10

Start of week 3 for me. Just injected.
Really happy with my loss, 3kg. Over a stone in total. Especially happy as I had two restaurant visits and found I needed a lot more willpower on D6 than D3.
Like some others I also feel I have more energy and getting up in the morning isn't a chore.

Wondering how my period will impact this process. Post kids I'm really effected every month so nervous it will make it harder.

Starting to think about when to reorder, with the bank holiday coming up. May do it on Monday. I'm hoping to stick with 2.5mg for the next month if this was weeks suppression is still going well.

Good luck everyone

MyScaredCat · 14/05/2025 08:23

W3D1 here and I just jabbed this morning
crazy how I don’t think about it after worrying so much about the first one!

it was a loss of 4.5lbs this week, combined with last week that’s 11lb so far. I’m really pleased with that. No major SE. Definite lack of food noise, my obsession beforehand is mind blowing to think about. Still hungry at meal times and eating very sensibly.

on we go, 2 stone still to go

LessWeightKate · 14/05/2025 09:24

ml512 · 13/05/2025 22:38

Sorry if it’s already been mentioned but I’m just wondering What type of diet is everyone following while on mounjaro? I hate calorie counting 🙈

Mounjaro seems to have chosen the diet for me. I can't find any appeal in old faves like crisps and sauvignon blanc! Fat turns my stomach, and carbs barely register on my food radar now, but a crunchy salad, stir fry, or fresh berries are more delicious than I ever remember.

It's not me. It's the meds, and long may it blooming well last. 😅I hope it has the same effect on you!

Three weeks in, the calories seem to be looking after themselves. I am keeping an eye on protein and fibre, but that's all at this stage.

I stuck with 2.5 as it’s still doing its thing for now x

LessWeightKate · 14/05/2025 09:31

@BluNavy I think ordering early is a good idea, if you can. I know some of the big providers currently have delays. My next delivery was scheduled for today (with a smaller provider) and they've just messaged to say it's delayed too. I have another jab to go, so not too worried, but I'd hate to be caught short!

Peachblossom25 · 14/05/2025 09:43

Can someone give me a good talking too please?!
I’m W2D5. I got into the habit of weighing everyday as I was excited to see weight loss. I lost 4lbs last week ( stupidly I was a bit disappointed as I keep seeing people losing 7+lbs in the first week )
Anyway this week. I weighed on day 2 and was 2lbs down. Yay! But then the next day it was up 1lb and then today another 1lb on. 😩 I even weighed myself again an hour later in case my scales were wrong and it had gone up again even though I haven’t yet eaten today!! I’m getting obsessed with weighing and it’s really not good for me. I feel so deflated.

My sensible head knows that perhaps it’s just normal fluctuations - Water retention and I’ve been a bit constipated so maybe I just need a big poo! I’ve had great suppression and no food noise really and I’m definitely under my calories.

I know I’m expecting miracles and I’m super impatient so I just need someone to give me some tough love and tell me stop obsessing and that the weight will come off!!

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 14/05/2025 09:51

@Peachblossom25 I reckon it might help to focus on non-scale victories, or NSV. If you're motivated by measurable metrics, what about waist and hip measurements? They're less likely to mess you about than all the stuff fluctuating in your body that could cause the scale to show unexpected numbers.

How do you feel in the morning and evening? What are your energy levels like? What are you hoping to achieve from this other than a certain weight, what does that look like and how does it feel to be on the way there?

I think another perspective is that you're not at war with your body, all the right stuff is happening, you're doing all the right things, and the weight WILL come off.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 14/05/2025 10:00

As for me, this is day four of not drinking like a fish. I'm really not sleeping well, but I woke up this morning feeling mentally very clear and crisp, which is really unusual for a Wednesday.

Yesterday I got in my head because I was super hungry and for about half an hour, I just wanted to binge drink and make a big plate of food. Instead, I had salad and halloumi in a pita bread and a beer. After that one beer, I couldn't stomach the idea of any more (which is good - it was the last one in the fridge). I usually drink 30 bottles of beer a week so that was amazing.

I can't tell if I'm getting any appetite suppression because I feel a bit queasy. I think overall I'm probably eating slightly more than I should be, but the difference in drinking is my main focus for now. I just thought about what it would be like to have a double JD & C and felt sickened by the idea, which is new. Happy days.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 14/05/2025 10:02

Oh, and constipated - not fair considering I'm having salad twice a day!

Mounraine · 14/05/2025 10:38

Hi Everyone, thank you for the kind words. I’ve decided to continue with attempt two and will take my third jab tomorrow). I’m so over being messed around by physicians and side effects and obesity that I just want to go for it.

@Col28 and others with bad side effects, you have my sympathy. Treat each side effect as it comes and play it safe with small, bland meals.

sunshinesandringham · 14/05/2025 10:51

Morning everyone , sorry to hear some of you still having bad side effects . I’ve not had any major to speak of which I’m very thankful for. I think my biggest worry is that I’m not eating enough but for the first 4 days of my jab I just have no appetite whatsoever . I was a little worried about it but after reading quite a bit I think it can be fairly common whilst your body adapts. Trying to have small plates of protein and fruit / veg throughout the day rather than a large lunch and dinner . Regardless I’m still very happy with how I’m feeling , very in control and optimistic.
I’ve also ordered some clear whey protein you add to water - raspberry lemonade flavour! I really struggle with the texture of traditional protein shakes and the fakeness of the flavour so hoping this will be easier to swallow!

AlrightTrouble · 14/05/2025 10:59

@LessWeightKate I’m in exactly the same boat. Last night I had a green salad with tomatoes and cucumbers and some chicken breast, which ordinarily I’d have covered in mayonnaise but had instead with sour cream. I cannot remember sour cream ever tasting as delicious as it did last night. I’d be fascinated to see clinical trials on the use of something like this on drug use: it’s almost as if the WLI has entirely reframed how I view all the food I was addicted to previously.

Good to see you keeping on @Mounraine
It is really difficult for some of us. I’m 3 weeks in to my 3rd 5mg pen and was up all night with bad stomach cramps before vomiting up all my dinner about 5am. The diahorrea has just started.
I wouldn’t mind but I’ve not lost in 3 weeks and suppression isn’t great at all.
Still keeping to 1200 calories max and eating lots of healthy things. So I guess I need 7.5. That means another week of illness while I adjust.
Noone ever said it was gonna be easy… but I do envy the super responders sometimes 😂

Mounraine · 14/05/2025 11:33

Wow @minerva7 that sounds really tough. You must be tough too, to keep going! What keeps you motivated?

Catty123Ma · 14/05/2025 11:39

Hey there, I am awaiting Clinical Review with MedExpress to start. How long does it normally take? Excited but nervous.. I’m debating whether to start in a lower than 2.5 dose.. can’t risk side effects to two smallies and a full time job 😵‍💫

Thanks Mounraine I’m not tough at all. A bit stubborn maybe 😂
My primary motivation is being able to look in the mirror and not be utterly disgusted by what I see. I hide away at home whenever possible as im so ashamed of how I look.
Disability and menopause caused it, I was slim my whole life until 46.
My life can’t be over yet I’m only 54. Not had a relationship in ten years either - not one person is seeing me naked.

54F
First injection Feb 14th
gone up and down between 2.5 and 5 due to severe side effects
starting weight 13 stone 13
current weight 13 stone 3

sigh 😂

Mounraine · 14/05/2025 12:00

Oh, that's hard to read @minerva7 Flowers. I feel sad reading your words about how you feel about your body, but as someone with a similar weight change when hitting perimenopause it does resonate. I mean, whose is this belly and where has it come from?

I wonder whether I'm suffering so much with cramps & diarrhoea is because I have no gallbladder. I have a Hiatus Hernia plus Divaticulur. Maybe, all that has made reaction so bad with me. My pooo is blackish-dark green too. I'm not sure I can handle my 2nd jab next Monday tbh. At 71, I'm beginning to think I just want some peace. 😔
Thank you for listening. xxx

Flowers@Col28 can you chat to your GP or prescriber about this? Do you have a lot to lose?
