Couldn't see a thread for may but hoping I can find fellow starters to chat with. I've opted to go with SheMed and have just received my blood test kit through so should be starting within the next week or 2!

Evening all,

My gp won't prescribe me any weight loss injections as I don't fit the criteria. I have no health problems but according to my bmi im obese. I'm on orlistat (week in) but am thinking of buying the weight loss injections.

Where can/do people buy them and at what cost and what one would you recommend.

T.I.A x

I’ve sent you a message x

Seahorsesplendour - thank you so much for that!
delivery is set for tomorrow morning…!! I will try to be sensible until then… i will resist going to the shops to get some munchies!!

when i signed up last week (on an impulse!), i told DP and he was surprised but interested. DP just told me he has signed up for the jab too! Im surprised but im glad he did. If both of us are in the same boat, things should be easier!

Col28 · 13/05/2025 20:42

I've had awful day with diarrhoea after porridge this morning. At 7pm I tried bits of chicken & 3 baby potatoes. I've just had to use loo again but this time it's not as watery but lose & it's sort of dark, dark green & black 😨I suffer with Divaticulur Disease down left side & have a pain there now.
Is this something anyone else has experienced. There's nothing I can do now except go through this, it's my 1st injection & I don't know if I can deal with this.

Seahorsesplendour · 13/05/2025 20:58

@hottubsundays thanks! Good to know it’s not just me!!

@Col28 im really sorry, that sounds horrible, no advice I’m afraid but sending a handhold and hoping things settle for you 💜

Hayley1256 · 13/05/2025 21:01

I'm due my 3rd injection on Thursday and loving it so far! I've lost 7lbs but haven't had time to do much exercise so I'm hoping to increase that as the month goes on. It's amazing how the food noise just goes!

It’s lovely to read all your experiences! Im still waiting for my 1st pen. I went with shemed and est delivery was today but i still havenet received tracking info so inguess its not happening.
also i keep eating and drinking out of fear i soon wont be able to enjoy all of these pleasures… i wonder if im going to feel a bit depressed if i no longer enjoy food and wine… Confused

I'm still enjoying food and wine

Thank you for all the information. That's a great help.
I'm guessing you start on 2.5mg then up the dose each month 🤔

Yes, you start on 2.5mg, but you don't necessarily need to up the dose each month. Lots of people recommend staying on the lowest dose you can while still losing weight as it's cheaper, minimises side effects and gives you somewhere to 'go' if your weight loss stalls in future.

Good luck! :)

AccidentalPrawnYouFool · 13/05/2025 21:46

Has anyone noticed any good side effects?

I have such increased energy. I’m normally exhausted by this time of a night but I’m still feeling fabulous! I have also noticed a reduction in inflammation in my knee joint (bursitis) which I am wondering is linked.

I'm only on week 2, 2.5mg. Loss so far 7lb

MJW38 · 13/05/2025 21:47

Jabbed for the first time this evening - hoping any immediate SE go overnight. Very much a non event and didn’t hurt one bit!
Looking forward to seeing results - all your posts have been very informative and helped me to make the decision.
DH was very supportive and wanted to know more about it - took me by surprise!
2.5 stone to lose 😁

Yes - same here. Increased energy and feeling very positive in general. Glad you're feeling it too 🌟

W2D4 here.

Got to 2.30pm today and realised I hadn’t had any lunch! Normally I’m wondering if I can have my lunch at 11.30am 🤣 This medication is a wonder drug.

Welcome to the new joiners.

Sorry @Col28you’ve suffered that reaction. Hopefully it eases off tomorrow x

Col I’ve had this in the first week of every dose rise - including when I had 2.5 for the first time. I had vomiting too.

When I did my research I found that many many people have the same side effects. After a very bad few days on going up to 5mg I considered quitting I have to be honest. But I came to the conclusion that it was nothing compared to the effects of obesity further down the line.
Please know you are not alone. And it will pass. It may not be the only time you will experience it, but it will pass.

Try to keep your fluids up. Good luck with your journey x

ml512 · 13/05/2025 22:38

Sorry if it’s already been mentioned but I’m just wondering What type of diet is everyone following while on mounjaro? I hate calorie counting 🙈

Weightlossprincess · 13/05/2025 22:40

So this is my day 5. I've done really well all week, but this afternoon I started feeling hungry and found myself thinking much more about food .
Not as bad as before .but I'm thinking it starting to wear off

Will this happen every week, or does this build up over time mean that it then starts to last the entire week.

Thank you all so much. I do feel like not doing 2nd jab. Then I think if I had diabetes my GP would probably prescribe this too.
I just feel so yuk & tummy is going nuts.
I hope tomorrow is different. Thank you all for replying it does help a great deal. I'm alone in life now & being unwell on my own can be scary. I'd never call my children unless it was an emergency, so I just get on with it. Losing weight would change my life but today was horrendous. Thank you all & God bless xxx

Can anyone recommend a good protein shake. DH bought gold standard stuff but I’ve finished the vanilla (which was a bit sweet ) and only his Banana stuff left - even the thought of that is making me nauseous this morning.

I use the nxt beef isolate proteins... they taste like juice and come in a large variety of flavours... fairly sure you can buy a sample pack. My favourite is the pineapple one... adding lots of ice in this lovely weather, and it's really easy to drink compared to the chocolate/ vanilla ones

I think there’s various bits of discussion on it but everyone doing different!

im wk 1 and haven’t made my mind up tbh!! But I am absolutely not calorie counting!! Spent too many years doing that sporadically & just got fatter….

atm I’m just going with what I want when I want it and tbh I’m mostly wanting healthy stuff, have increased my protein Altho again not counting just added in a couple of shakes a day was hoping to mostly avoid processed carbs which seems to be naturally happening!! Also aiming for more veg and adding into shake if needed!

ive naturally been having tea earlier & breakfast later so maybe easing towards 16/8 fasting . I think once I’m further in I might make more of a plan especially if I plateau first, right now I’m just enjoying not obsessing about what I eat!!!!!!

@Col28 Hope you’re feeling better this morning 💐.

Good Morning ElsieJay
I'd love to say yes but I've had a bad night with cramps. I am really regretting ever having that injection now. I read last night that it can take 30 days to leave my system & the thought of feeling like this for that long is worrying. I didn't realise that after long term use coming off the treatment can be unpleasant too.
I hope you & others are doing well & thank you for your message. I'm praying 🙏 today will be better. I'm scared to eat because of diarrhoea but I must try something. xxx

BrienneMonroe · 14/05/2025 06:45

Morning all

Sneaky mid week weigh in and under 200lbs for the first time in years! Couldn’t be more pleased

I’m finding that not eating after 5pm completely stops any of the overnight SE I did have. Maybe I’m going to bed on an empty stomach helps? It helps that I have no interest in late night munchies at all any more!

Sorry if it’s already been mentioned but I’m just wondering What type of diet is everyone following while on mounjaro? I hate calorie counting 🙈

I've not been following a diet as such, but after reading 'Food Noise' by Jack Mosely, I've just made sure that I'm following a Mediterranean style of eating and avoiding any UPFs etc. That includes protein shakes and bars, pasta, bread (apart from very occasional slice of sourdough) and anything even remotely processed. I struggled with that way of eating before, I'd eat the right things but then later feel the need to eat a load of sh*t after! Now it seems to be very easy. I'm still on 2.5mg and not having any side effects at all.
