Couldn't see a thread for may but hoping I can find fellow starters to chat with. I've opted to go with SheMed and have just received my blood test kit through so should be starting within the next week or 2!

That’s interesting @AlicesMum2025, the issue was that the longer I left it (which was a while due to lack of appetite) the thicker it got and by the end it was pretty grim.

It is a protein smoothie made with cottage cheese, strawberries and milk and chia seeds so isn’t that great to start with (it could do with some sugar but I’m reluctant to add it as I usually have a terrible sweet tooth).

I could have written your post! Week one done yesterday, lost 5lbs. Not seen this side of 14st for a long time. Lost another 2lbs between weighing myself yesterday morning( jab day) and weighing myself this morning. Sure it’s still water weight but I’m not aiming for huge weight losses each week. I had some burps last night which didn’t happen last week. Also I haven’t told my DH or anyone yet, he’s also away working and doesn’t fly back until the end of the week. Think I am going to tell him when he comes back. What about you?

Sorry this was meant for @ScotsLassie6 . Too busy rushing around.

It’s lovely to read all your experiences! Im still waiting for my 1st pen. I went with shemed and est delivery was today but i still havenet received tracking info so inguess its not happening.
also i keep eating and drinking out of fear i soon wont be able to enjoy all of these pleasures… i wonder if im going to feel a bit depressed if i no longer enjoy food and wine… Confused

ElsieJay · 13/05/2025 17:35

May I request a few high-protein ( and ideally low-carb) meal suggestions , please ?

Breakfast is fine, have 0% Greek yoghurt with berries and mixed seeds - but lunch and evening meal getting a bit same-y.
Not overly fond of red meat or pulses, never tried protein shakes - are they a quick and easy way to boost your intake ?
Thanks in advance ! x

@ScotsLassie6 I'm getting the high protein shakes from lidl. They have quite a few flavours. They also have a high protein coffee by arctic coffee that is really nice and a high protein yogurt pouch by Graham's that is tasty.

They also have high protein bits in Aldi if it’s closer to anyone than Lidl!

Me again!
Is anyone managing weight loss with still having some wine?
Ive had an absolutely shit day and have nobody to talk to really so sat on the sofa in between my jobs with some white wine and a packet of rice crisp things (basically knock off snack a jacks) sulking.

Yeah I think I should tell him but this way I am seeing and can show him it’s working. I don’t even know if would be judgmental about it, I’m just scared he might be. Doing jab 2 shortly

I really don’t think it will make you depressed. You can still enjoy tasty things you just won’t want to eat as much and will stop when you are full.

You will still be able to eat sensibly. You can still have some treats and you can still have some wine. I just drink a few glasses at the weekend now together with a side glass of large sparkling water.

Yes I am still having some wine but limiting it to a few glasses at the weekend.
I've still lost weight.

Yes I am! I am currently having a small glass of wine in the sunshine and thoroughly enjoying it!

Hello All!
I have finally started 🙌 ! It was a real non-event!!

Now just waiting for the side effects...

BluNavy · 13/05/2025 18:56

@ElsieJay today I had:
2 boiled eggs, edamame and cucumber with soy sauce for lunch. 17g protein
Cod tray bake (tinned tomatoes, onions, asparagus and chickpea) over sweet potato 39g protein

I'm also enjoying boiled eggs in high protein yogurt and flaxseed with a little olive oil.

Ah well done! fingers crossed you won’t get any side effects. The only ones I got were headaches on days 1&2, but the urge to snack and or overeat disappeared almost immediately after injecting. Make sure you stay hydrated and try and eat regular meals with protein.

BerfyTigot · 13/05/2025 19:14

@SilkCottonTree thanks, was quite nervous, particularly after hearing about that poor Scottish nurse.

But it's also dangerous to be obese, so 🤞

Funnily enough I woke up this morning (pre jab) with headache and nausea! I'm glugging back the water now.

The chia seeds will cause it to thicken as it rests, starting to become chia pudding. I've heard flax is a good substitute and doesn't thicken.

I would never have thought about cottage cheese for a smoothie. I can't stomach it though, with the lumps 🤢. I guess once it's blended it smoothes out but still don't think I could bring myself to do it 🤣

I’ve told my DH and my sister, DH is very supportive of it makes me happy (I earn more than him so thankfully no money worries). My sister was also happy for me.

I feel like I shouldn’t hesitate to tell people, but a weird part of me doesn’t want to. I will likely tell people who would reasonably be upset if I lied to them, once the weight loss becomes obvious.

Took my second injection yesterday, still no real side effects. I’m hoping I can stay on 2.5 for a while as I’m getting good appetite suppression but no food revulsion and I’m able to eat without any issue (I just don’t really have much of an appetite and can’t overeat!).

I bought some psyllium husk at the weekend to help with fibre, and saw that it said you can mix it into a smoothie so I did that this morning and it was soooo grim, I will do it just with water next time and down it asap!

I buy the psyllium husk capsules (need to be full husks) way more palatable to swallow that way!!

someone asked for protein powder recommendation up thread I’m new to the world of protein powders so nothing to compare it too but I’m using this one atm. I liked the sound of the additions to it!!

It smells overwhelmingly strong but I’m enjoying the taste!! Have had it in porridge, yoghurt & a smoothie and it’s gone down well I got the vanilla one

interesting day here! Been sat in front of computer all day which normally means I eat none stop! I’ve thought about it more than yesterday but was mostly fleeting thoughts!! I did have a snack this afternoon but then didn’t want tea so just had a smoothie with the protein powder added and really enjoyed it!!

honestly feeling better than I have felt for years despite only being on w1 d4 it’s fascinating the changes I’m noticing!! I’m excited about next injection day!! 😂

I could have written your post this time last week!! I even said to my dp once I’d ordered my first jab I treated every meal like it was the last supper!! 😂
i put 2lb on between ordering & starting (unintentionally) I just lost all semblance of control …

everyone’s journey is different but all I can say is read my other post too but I haven’t even thought of having a glass of wine or a bar (and I’m not talking small ones…) of chocolate since the night before I did my jab (had plenty then!!!) and after 30 years of either wanting it and feeling deprived or just giving in and having it I feel free!

This week my biggest fear is that this won’t last!!!

I feel like I have been given a new chance at life & it’s the strangest feeling!!

all those people that over the years have said just make a different choice this must be how they feel, I still have fleeting thoughts of Oohh I’ll have wine or chocolate etc then it’s gone and it’s ok.

sorry I’ll stop raving now I know not everyone gets on with it as well and I’m sorry for that and there’s no telling how it’ll continue but I’m grateful for today and hope it goes well for you too!!!

hottubsundays · 13/05/2025 19:57

W1D2 here - definitely felt queasy this morning but sipped a sprite all morning it helped. Have noticed I start to feel really lightheaded and that’s my cue to eat something, unsure whether it could be related to my blood sugars dipping? So ended up buying a chicken and bacon salad at the work hub I was at today and ate it over the course of an hour! Had a chicken burger (meat only) and some salad for dinner but even that felt massive, I probably ate a quarter of what I normally would. I have a protein shake in the fridge I am going to try for tomorrows breakfast in the hopes i don’t feel sick afterwards.

welcome to the new starters! Love hearing how everyone is doing.

the scales said I had lost 5lb this morning can that be possible?

Seahorsesplendour · 13/05/2025 19:58

Anyone else feeling annoyingly happy about it all? I think I’m starting to bore my family so need to not do the same on here!!!! Sorry!!!!

Shesellsseashellsh · 13/05/2025 20:01

Week 2 day 1 and I'm feeling great! I feel so positive about taking control of my weight - I was really spiralling before I started. I lost about 1.5kg last week which feels about right; I'm not in a massive rush and want to try and minimise muscle loss.

I ate some sweet potato noodles in very spicy broth yesterday and definitely felt it in my stomach afterwards so will be sticking to blander food from here on.

I've not got complete suppression of food noise or appetite, but it's all definitely a lot quieter, and I'm finding it effortless to stick to smaller portions / low carb.

@ElsieJay I'm eating a lot of tofu - Aldi does a small block of organic tofu that has 14g protein per serving (133 calories). If I'm pressed for time, I just put cube it and put it in the microwave with a dash of soya sauce and sesame oil and a teaspoon of peanut butter. I'm also eating lots of Eat Lean protein cheese. I know you said you don't like pulses, but have you tried the Bold Bean Company ones? I really recommend them. They're pricey, but so delicious!

Evening all,

My gp won't prescribe me any weight loss injections as I don't fit the criteria. I have no health problems but according to my bmi im obese. I'm on orlistat (week in) but am thinking of buying the weight loss injections.

Where can/do people buy them and at what cost and what one would you recommend.

T.I.A x

Shesellsseashellsh · 13/05/2025 20:24

@lw88x

I would check this website out in the first instance to find out where you'll get MJ cheapest:

https://monj.co.uk/discount-mounjaro-price-list/

I'm with Voy. They're not the cheapest but they provide lots of wrap around support - coaching with a human coach, an AI coach on the app, food logging on their app, lots of support for changing nutrition. Feel free to message me if you'd like a discount code, but they still wouldn't be the cheapest even with it as the table linked above shows.

Speaking of which, Voy accidentally sent me an extra sharps bin and pen / needle holder. Happy to post (for free - I'll cover cost) on to anyone who wants them! Not sure if you get those as standard with other providers.

Thank you for all the information. That's a great help.
I'm guessing you start on 2.5mg then up the dose each month 🤔
