Couldn't see a thread for may but hoping I can find fellow starters to chat with. I've opted to go with SheMed and have just received my blood test kit through so should be starting within the next week or 2!

Finally took my first dose tonight after work and feeling like a disgrace to my profession! I expected it to be like Insulin which is quite viscous and gloopy and appears almost white in the cartridge so definitely wasted some by priming to vigorously and checking it was actually dispensing! Oh well at least I should be able to extract the golden dose without too much hassle!

Not weighed as it’s too late at night for that but think I’m around 93kg and 5”9. No goal in mind just noticed that increasing exercise isn’t having the effect it used to so looking for some help.

I’ve not told anyone in real life so it’s nice to share knowledge here and follow everyone’s progress.

Side effects have started, I fancied a glass of milk before bed, really shouldn’t have as have felt sick since then, I’ve now had gross burps and an odd taste in my
mouth. Wanting to sleep but feeling quite sick when I lay down.
Do the side effects subside or you have these at all times?
thanks

From the reading I’ve done it’s so individual it’s hard to say but I’ve read a lot of people saying the burps do settle so 🤞🏻for you!

iv also picked up a few people saying not to have anything before bed so might be worth avoiding & seeing if that helps!

Hope you got some sleep!!

Elle771 · 13/05/2025 06:26

Joining as just ordered 2.5mg starter pens 🙏🙏🙏

Trying not to get my hopes up 😅🙈

Any tips for newbies pls?

Also what is a "golden dose"?!

Elle771 · 13/05/2025 06:27

I have a LOT to lose (8st ish!) Just wondered also how quickly people in similar boat have had to move up the dosages??

AlrightTrouble · 13/05/2025 06:54

@Elle771 My understanding is that the golden dose is a small amount left in the pen after the official four. Some people buy extra needles to dispense it.

ScotsLassie6 · 13/05/2025 07:01

Week 1 done, injection due later today.

I feel hungry this morning for the first time, but that could just be in my head because I know I’m due to inject later.

minimal side effects, day after my jab was bad with a migraine and nausea, and I’ve been burping a bit more than normal but not sulphur burps. This morning I got the metallic taste but it seems to have subsided.
I weigh every morning as keen to keep an eye on my muscle mass. Lost 6.8lbs this week. No doubt this will mostly be water weight and loss will slow down but I’m feeling motivated. I’ve not seen this side of 12 st for a while. Hope everyone else is managing ok with the side effects.

Still not told DH he is away this week and not back till Saturday. Wondering if maybe I should from a safety standpoint?

Seahorsesplendour · 13/05/2025 07:01

@Elle771 morning! I’ve also got about 8st to loose. Only just started so can’t comment on the moving up doses but hoping to do it as slowly as possible and planning on going up half doses rather than full doses to make it take longer.

I'm on day 4 and wish I hadn’t waited so long to take the plunge! Good luck & I hope you feel like I do soon!!!

sunshinesandringham · 13/05/2025 07:19

Good morning everyone . Well weighed myself this morning and I’ve lost 7.5pounds. Over the moon with that, appreciate a lot will be water weight but I also have a lot to loose ( at least 4 stone ) so it’s all good! I imagine this week will taper off quite dramatically as due my period by the end of the week. Whilst I’m thrilled with the weight loss the biggest thing I’m happy about is finally being able to eat how I have always wanted to- 3 meals a day , no snacking and not gorging on chocolate. Not thinking about food all day is life changing .
I also listened to/ watched a podcast Oprah did with a dr from Yale university and it was fascinating, would really recommend to any of you who are struggling to maybe accept this is necessary and to silence any “ you just need more will power” thoughts you may have , or maybe that’s just me! Going to head on a big walk after school drop off , managed 5 miles yesterday in just under 1.5 hrs , same again today and then home to second injection!
to the poster asking about burps- mine were HORRIFIC for maybe 2 days then settled to nothing , wondering if they come back after this next injection? Have a great day everyone ☺️

MorrowTreasure · 13/05/2025 07:29

Hi all, did my first injection on Sunday and have felt sick in the mornings yesterday and today but otherwise normal..no appetite suppression yet? Bit of those weird sulphur burps this morning. Maybe 2.5 won’t work for me appetite wise..or is it too early to tell? So impatient obviously!

Anonymousmember25 · 13/05/2025 07:38

Woken up after having injected the first dose last night ..... Hasn't worked yet 🤣🤣🤣

Such a bad night's sleep, kept waking up, bad taste and nausea this morning. Suppose it means at least I know it's in there doing something. Horrific heartburn but that's something I've had for a long time. Big bottle of water whilst being at work, let's see how much I get through!

Elle09 · 13/05/2025 07:47

First injection on Sunday night. No appetite suppression yesterday. Managed not to snack, just used willpower to keep to 3 meals. Woke up today quite nauseous, a litttle like morning sickness.
The nine thing I’ve had though the two previous nights is very vivid and strange dreams. I don’t normally have them so not sure if it’s connected. Very strange!

GeraniumRoseblush · 13/05/2025 08:00

@Elle09 yes I'm having the vivid dreams too! I wondered if it was just me but went on another thread and other people have mentioned it too.

I am attributing absolutely EVERYTHING to the jab currently 😃, I'm W2D5.

GeraniumRoseblush · 13/05/2025 08:05

@ScotsLassie6 do you have body composition scales to check for muscle mass? Do you have a recommendation that isn't too pricey?

ScotsLassie6 · 13/05/2025 08:10

@GeraniumRoseblushI bought Garmin ones last year DH had bought me a new watch and I had a discount voucher with it. Just had a quick look on Argos, looks like there is a few different options for some cheaper ones around £30.

ScotsLassie6 · 13/05/2025 08:12

Can anyone recommend a good protein shake. DH bought gold standard stuff but I’ve finished the vanilla (which was a bit sweet ) and only his Banana stuff left - even the thought of that is making me nauseous this morning.

Elle09 · 13/05/2025 08:30

Glad it’s not just me 🤣

SussexLass87 · 13/05/2025 08:32

On week 2 & also having very vivid dreams. Told DH off yesterday as I'd a very vivid dream that he was cheating on me 🤣

GeraniumRoseblush · 13/05/2025 09:05

@ScotsLassie6 I'm using Myprotein and am currently trying chocolate brownie flavour. Which isn't bad, not sickly sweet. Although I have nothing to compare it to as I've not really had them much before.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 13/05/2025 09:11

Second night of very little sleep. I read that people have a restless night the night after injecting.
However, I think I'm used to going to bed tipsy or, well, drunk. Going up to bed and doing a skincare routine (who tf am I, a skincare routine!) and then getting into bed by 11 sober is so lovely, but then I toss and turn all night. I think I need to go for a long walk in the evening when it's cooler, something to try today.
SE-wise I've got dry mouth and a bit of nausea but nothing major. Just wish I could sleep.

lissie123 · 13/05/2025 09:12

Morning all
Well I’ve just done a sneaky weigh in two days before my second injection and I’ve lost 2lbs. I’m okay with that but it’s difficult not to compare with others who have had bigger losses.

PinkponyclubOG · 13/05/2025 09:50

Hello! 👋🏻

Wondered if I could join, though I imagine if I started the application process now I’d be a June starter.

I have been considering WLI for as long as I can remember but they have just always felt like such a severe way to do and maintain something that a lot of people find easy. Reading about everyone loss’s has really inspired me though and lots of posters have resonated, especially SE being a walk in the park compared to with health complications further down the line and also the mid week wine noise being muffled. I also would love to have more energy and more buzz for life.

I just still have so many questions…

I feel really emotional about it but I don’t think I can tell DH, at least not to start with. I think he will think it’s too much money, potentially not safe and also likely will make some very unhealthy and likely condescending comments about how I just need to do more exercise, he’s a wonderful husband but has a very black and white approach to life and be flippant about the daily trial’s that is us women go through, ie peri, anxiety, burnout from responsibility etc I just think there is a good chance he wouldn’t be very supportive..

Question is for those in similar situations and doing it on your own, how do you pay for it if you have a joint bank account? Our current account is the only one we have and other than my own Paypal account wouldn’t have any other way to buy it without him knowing.

Also (possibly a trait of being ND) how do I pick which company do go with? So many and it’s blowing my mind!! As above I would likely want to go for the cheapest and don’t feel like I would need a lot support from the company I bought it from (lots of apps, support pages and MN for that) but on the table suggested up thread say prices as low as £90 for the first jab however when I click on it and research prices much more, what is the average price for 2.5 starter injection.

What is the golden dose?!

Any specific threads you think would help me to get started?..

Thanks everyone in advance, you’re all doing amazing.

I worry I’m engaged to your husband. Same here. I’ve told him I was going to try Mounjaro and he just gave me a bit of a huff as I’d mentioned it a few times before. So I’ve just quietly bought it and getting on with it. I’m not ‘hiding’ it - it’s just there’s little to discuss.

Reference buying it - you really need your own private means to money. You have a right to some privacy. You need to open a sole bank account for yourself.
Are you able to withdraw some cash and give it to a friend and use their card? Or withdraw some cash and put it on some type of temporary or travel card that may work online? Etc.

Top tips for nausea? Just downed some pepto bismol and have to go to a work meeting 🤦🏽‍♀️
