Couldn't see a thread for may but hoping I can find fellow starters to chat with. I've opted to go with SheMed and have just received my blood test kit through so should be starting within the next week or 2!

Well done! I can’t wait to see a change in the scales 😆

Morning, joining the May crew a bit late.
i've had Mounjaro in the fridge (unopened) since January but have been too scared to take the first step. Yesterday I finally injected.

40 5'5"
SW: 240lbs
GW: 140lbs

I've never been this heavy before but since I started drinking every day during the pandemic, the weight has piled on. I'm hoping MJ helps with the drink noise, and to eat smaller portions. BUT, I have no idea what I'm going to do with all the free time i'll have from not drinking every night.

I need to get a life.

It’s definitely helping my the booze noise too. I started a week ago today and have had a quarter of what I would normally have in week, so although I’ve lost 5lbs in a week I’m definitely happy about the booze situation too.

Same for me with the fatty liver. It showed up on a CT scan for something else and although my GP hasn’t mentioned it (I know she was copied into the results letter) I decided I do something about it myself!
good luck with your first week 😊

Mine was found on ultrasound for something else. I also got a kind of lecture from the sonographer about the amount of visceral fat I have 🙈 So it was definitely time to take action!

Good luck to you as well 😊

SockQueen · 12/05/2025 17:11

Hello! Is it ok for a newbie to join? I've finally made the decision to start MJ, having seen amazing results in some of my friends, and having tried so many other diets/lifestyle plans.

How do you pick a provider? I'd like some psychological support as well as just the drugs, but don't know which ones offer that for a decent price. Still annoyed about Noom tbh, which took my money for longer than I care to admit, and where I was never convinced the "coach" wasn't a bot.

Thanks for your advice!

AccidentalPrawnYouFool · 12/05/2025 18:05

Week 2 day 2 here. Or day 1? Whatever. Second jab was yesterday. Had a tiny lunch today as felt nauseous, realised I hadn’t had anything to drink so got a big water and felt much better afterwards. Can’t even comprehend what to cook for dinner! Would quite happily have a couple of boiled eggs and some cucumber and have done with it to be honest! Really feeling the supression today. Hope it continues, the alternative was wiring my jaw shut 😂 this is much easier!

Big drinker here too - I’ve barely given it a thought since my first jab! My ironing pile is nonexistent though and I’ve got loads more energy and feeling far less tired in the evenings. I wasn’t sure if it was the jab making me feel great or the lack of alcohol flowing through my veins! I had one glass of wine on Saturday at a party (unheard of for me, one glass always equals the rest of the bottle!) and yesterday I poured myself a single gin to enjoy in the garden. Very restrained!

Officially started. Stupidly took me over 30 mins to look at, cry cos I'm in a mess and then the actual injection was easy peasy. Meant to start weeks back start of may but had weekends away planned and didn't want it to interfere.

CW 17 st 6 😔 no idea what my GW will be. Just when I can go into a normal shop and buy something off the hanger without issue 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Feelings of sadness and excitement at the same time. Not told anyone other than hubby and that's only from a safety point of view 😔😔😔

I'm scared of side effects and shitting myself at work say in a meeting 🙄. Maybe a mo day night wasn't the best time but now or never.

Sorry for the rambling nervousness! Also where do you dispose of used needles? I don't have a sharps bin !!!

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 12/05/2025 18:51

@AccidentalPrawnYouFool That is very reassuring and inspiring! I have loads of energy this evening and I'd normally be done in by now. It's crazy. Might be because I'm not hungover OR seriously dehydrated for the first time in four years. Or it's MJ. I'm happy!

Bless you - I started last night but was too much of a baby so had to get my husband to do it but he is a read all the instructions through thoroughly kind of guy and it was taking so long I started to lose my nerve!

Today I have eaten small amounts regularly as have felt myself feeling lightheaded more than hungry. I met my boss for a coffee in Starbucks and also thought I was going to have some kind of toilet drama but it’s been all quiet!

DottyMcDiet · 12/05/2025 19:17

I had my first jab on Sunday, having looked at it in the fridge for a week.
Felt effects immediately.
I recently started a new medication that causes a dry mouth and constipation so I’m expecting that to get worse.
Don’t feel to bothered about food, am tracking on MFP to keep an eye on fibre and protein.
The main effect I need is to stop my wine cravings - so far so good,

And Amazon sells sharps bins for £5 xx

Following on from someone's post...what are you all eating? I'm not sure I'm eating enough.

Just had a (small) baked potatoe and some beans..that was an effort to make let alone eat. And I LOVE cooking.

Thinking some eggs tomorrow? I've boiled a gammon and have been having that cold with some salad leaves too. Made a big effort to rid the house of UPF last year.

Hit me up with some inspiration! 🌟

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 12/05/2025 19:55

Breakfast: High protein porridge - I bought it accidentally ages ago rather than the ordinary kind.

Lunch: My partner made mackerel pate out of mackerel, quark, lime juice & black pepper, and had that with a red onion, tomato and lettuce salad and some toasted olive bread. It was divine.

Apprenante · 12/05/2025 19:58

There are some threads titled If you're on Mounjaro what do you eat. You could look at them for inspiration. Sorry I don't know how to link to another thread.

Yum! Homemade mackerel pate sounds absolutely delicious 😋

Seahorsesplendour · 12/05/2025 20:14

I just had a toasted protein thin with 2 poached eggs & broccoli, spinach & green beans stir fried with garlic. Really hit the spot!!!

day 3 for me and I felt great this morning! Had porridge with added protein powder was lovely!! Then hadn’t planned lunch ended up in cafe but they didn’t have any healthy options so had a banana. Then have really struggled with energy levels this afternoon!! Also felt hungry & cravings creeping in!

finally ate above tea & feel much better now!!

lesson there mj doesn’t mean you can suddenly run on empty!!!! Strange learning new things now about my own body!!

anyway still pretty tired so heading to bed!!

Welcome !
I’m still in my first week but have found this thread very supportive and helpful .
I chose Asda Online, as wanted to pick up my kit - haven’t told DH am doing this, and as we’re both retired he could very easily answered the door to a delivery…..
Found it very straightforward, the usual medical questions , plus needed to upload photo evidence ( full length front and side views, plus pic of the weight showing on my scales ). 😱😱
Did this on the Friday evening and collected from my local Asda in-store pharmacy after 3pm Weds - the Monday was a bank holiday , so thought this was fairly quick .
Loads of info , and a link to demo injection video were in the e mail saying I’d been accepted. I’ve nothing to compare them to , but they seem very helpful without being overly intrusive.

FlatErica · 12/05/2025 21:01

I just injected my first dose, but I think I might have twisted the knob too much. I didn’t see the number 1 appear so I kept twisting until at least half an inch of the screw was showing. I lost my nerve and i gave it a slight press and it shot out everywhere. I injected until the screw clicked down to 0 again.

Did anyone else have this problem? Where is this supposed number 1? Did I in fact do it properly? I’m on Mounjaro 2.5mg.

Edited

When I did mine I had a bit of a panic thinking I was wasting half the super expensive pen as I didn’t see the 1 but it was actually really far and I got there eventually.

so perhaps you haven’t taken a full dose?

FlatErica · 12/05/2025 21:29

@ConfusedMiddleAger83Maybe you’re right! Too late now I guess. I’ll try again next week!

Col28 · 12/05/2025 21:36

I'm also 71, had 1st jab earlier this evening.
I'm hoping I'll be ok but having no gallbladder & hiatus hernia is worrying me. But at 22 stone my knees are suffering & I have dreadful Osteoarthritis too.
Good luck to everyone xxx

Iggy35 · 12/05/2025 21:42

@FlatErica it would have looked like something like picture below....the 1 is all the way down (so the pen is quite long at that point)

But the worst that could have happened is that you probably haven't taken the full dose, which might mean the suppression/side effects might be limited (which can happen anyway even with the full dose).

Good luck for this week🤞🏼

Just finished my second week, definitely a more settled week, had hunger but not over eaten. Lost 1.5lb, so 11lb over two weeks. Just had my third dose, fingers crossed I keep going.

FlatErica · 12/05/2025 21:58

@Iggy35 thank you so much! Yes, I should’ve looked at the leaflet. I think I was panicking a bit!
