Couldn't see a thread for may but hoping I can find fellow starters to chat with. I've opted to go with SheMed and have just received my blood test kit through so should be starting within the next week or 2!

After jabbing last night, I feel fabulous today - not sure if it just my positivity for the future now that I am finally doing something about my weight that I think might actually work!

GW: 11st 7lb

I haven't felt hungry yet today, but I am currently sipping a Mindful Chef breakfast smoothie to try and keep any potential hunger pangs/nausea at bay.

@DidILeaveTheGasOn Wow, that’s fantastic! And cutting down on the alcohol will have so many other benefits too other than less calories

I agree. That's a fantastic difference in alcohol consumption.

I too drank far too many calories especially at the weekend. Over the years all those empty calories have led to a lot of weight gain, together with lack of portion control etc.

I'm hugely hopeful that I can get both my weight down and my alcohol intake so that the overall benefits are quite significant.

Is anyone finding that even though you’re not hungry your food noise hasn’t gone? I’m only on day 2 to be fair but was expecting a miracle from what others have said 🙈

Morning, joining the May crew a bit late.
i've had Mounjaro in the fridge (unopened) since January but have been too scared to take the first step. Yesterday I finally injected.

40 5'5"
SW: 240lbs
GW: 140lbs

I've never been this heavy before but since I started drinking every day during the pandemic, the weight has piled on. I'm hoping MJ helps with the drink noise, and to eat smaller portions. BUT, I have no idea what I'm going to do with all the free time i'll have from not drinking every night.

I need to get a life.

It’s definitely reduced the craving for alcohol for me and I’m only one week in - 2nd injection tomorrow . Similar to you - the pandemic , trauma and divorce since 2020 saw me increase my drinking and saw my weight go with it . I’m feeling so enthusiastic and in control of something that little over a week ago felt like it was entirely controlling me and everything I did. Good luck ☺️

@hottubsundays Hope you're off somewhere lovely for your holiday!
@Mounraine I'm so sorry about your troubles - I hope you'll find a solution soon 🙏

Hi, new starter here 👋🏼 I'm on week 1, day 5. Feeling good, sometimes I get a wave of nausea when I am presented with food but I have been able to eat when I need to. Food noise is well suppressed, I work from home and my desk is near my kitchen so a usual day would see me plodding in there every 20-30 minutes. I have not been doing that these last few days so I know it's working!

39F | 5ft 6 | BMI 30.5

SW: 189lb
CW: 189lb
GW: 136lb

I'll weigh in every Thursday morning when I take my next dose. I have a fatty liver which is the primary reason for taking MJ.

Thank you so much for putting my mind at rest over the blood test-it is very much appreciated.

Well done to all of you and good luck with your weight loss/getting healthier journey.

I sympathise, as also have uncooperative veins and need a monthly blood test for others meds I’m on .
So wasn’t looking forward to doing the first jab, but hand on heart I didn’t feel the needle at all - I injected into my thigh as couldn’t bring myself to jab my stomach .
Though I’ve heard absorption takes a tad longer if you do that - does anyone have any thoughts on this, please ?

ElsieJay · 12/05/2025 12:35

@SeasonalDependency - welcome from a fellow newbie !
I’m on Day 4 now.
So far, so good : eating small but sensibly, trying to have protein with every meal and have upped my water intake ( and consequently cut down on my cups of tea ).
Minimal side effects so far, thank goodness .

I read an article that said absorption is indeed slower via your thigh, but side effects are less - side effects were found to be strongest if you injected in your stomach. I will try and find the article again and post it. I would prefer a slower weight loss and less side effects so will continue injecting my thigh.

Same for me with the fatty liver. It showed up on a CT scan for something else and although my GP hasn’t mentioned it (I know she was copied into the results letter) I decided I do something about it myself!
good luck with your first week 😊

Apprenante · 12/05/2025 13:05

I'm sorry about your health issues @Mounraine but obviously you have made a wise decision. Thank you for the support you've offered on this thread. I'm sure that you'll have the will power to lose that last bit of weight now.

Yes, this is me. Only on jab 1 day 2 and while I’m fine with small healthy meals I definitely haven’t stopped thinking about food. Interested to see what happens next.

ScoobyAndScrappy · 12/05/2025 13:14

It’s horrible @ElsieJay 😔 I usually look like a (black and blue) pin cushion by the time they have finished with me!

Glad you are experiencing few side effects and well done on your weight loss so far. Onwards and upwards 🤗

Yes me too, on jab 1 day 3 and have both high levels of food noise and appetite as large as ever. I’m trying to keep going on willpower for now. I’ve made big changes, having much more water and more protein and know I won’t be able to sustain this under my own steam for long as I’m in diet mode…

I have felt a bit nauseous but I’ve always been one of those people that needs to eat when I feel like this so that’s no help 😬🙄

I felt no different for the first 4 days and then the food noise subsided and I felt a mild hunger suppression. I’m on W2 D4 and the suppression is gradually getting stronger. I didn’t have the immediate results like a lot of people seem to have but it’s definitely getting better. Stick with it and it will kick in.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 12/05/2025 13:46

If I injected yesterday afternoon am I on day 2? With no side effects although couldn't finish my porridge for breakfast. I'm oscillating between mildly queasy and quite hungry now. Am tongue-in-cheek saying to myself 'but why am I not fixed immediately? It's been almost 24 hours and I have an APPETITE?' 😅Gah. I know it's going to take longer than 24hrs but GAH I say.

Got a supermarket delivery of salad* and fresh prawns amongst other things today, lunch looks good! Lots of red onions and coriander.

*Pre-pandemic when I was going through an exercise kick in really good shape, in the office we used to refer to donuts as 'salad' and would gleefully ask the others, 'anyone for a spot of salad?' before skipping off to the nearest shop for a bag of custard and a bag of jam donuts. Now I'm briefly confronted by the mental image of a bowlful of donuts with fresh prawns sprinkled on top like some sort of nightmarish croutons. Bleurgh.

ElsieJay · 12/05/2025 13:49

@SilkCottonTree - thank you , that’s very interesting -would love to read the article if you can find it .
Think my info pack suggested alternating your injection sites , but I’m planning to keep to my thighs , especially if it minimises side effects .

lissie123 · 12/05/2025 14:11

Having felt that my appetite has diminished over the last four days since my first injection I’m now feeling ravenous. I’m wondering if the suppression is waning? Alcohol and coffee have been off limits for me too, so that’s a positive!

EDIT : I quoted the wrong post sorry!

It’s so nice to hear I’m not the only one! Day 4 of week one.
I’m getting fuller a little faster but the food noise is definitely still there.
I was starting to think I was broken!

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 12/05/2025 14:15

@lissie123 Interested in the alcohol and coffee part - do you just not fancy it?

lissie123 · 12/05/2025 14:25

@DidILeaveTheGasOn I just don’t fancy it. I did have a sip of my DH’s wine the other night and it seemed bitter. Very odd. Added to which I’m nervous of drinking alcohol in case it makes any SE’s worse- though to be fair to date I haven’t experienced many other than slight constipation.

Hello all

first jab a few hours ago. Delayed as we’ve been away and didn’t want to risk being ill especially as only DH and a friend know I’m doing this. Once I’d done the jab I realised it’s pretty simple and didn’t feel a thing. The video explained everything really but I still managed to bend the first needle. Anyway, all done and interested to see how it works for me. Probably a coincidence but I have terrible heartburn but then do have a hiatus hernia so gaviscon etc are normal for me anyway. Really hoping I don’t get any bad side effects as some others unfortunately have as difficult with work/life in general.

Have a great week all. I love reading all of your posts and will be following our journeys together x

ChimpyChops · 12/05/2025 15:29

I am week 2, day 5 and feeling hungry today. I don't want to binge but definitely feeling more hungry than the last 2 weeks.

On the plus side, did a sneaky weigh in and am 7lbs down in just under 2 weeks, feeling very positive.

Yes to Greece to flaunt my new body (she hopes) 🤣

2old4thisshit · 12/05/2025 15:52

Started today, felt a bit odd about 10-20 mins after injecting, palpitations, they have stopped now. I’m actually hungry though, so I’ve done a shop of good things and the only choc I got was dark chocolate.
