Couldn't see a thread for may but hoping I can find fellow starters to chat with. I've opted to go with SheMed and have just received my blood test kit through so should be starting within the next week or 2!

@ScoobyAndScrappy I didn’t have a blood test. I bought mine from the London Pharmacy as the 2.5mg dose was relatively inexpensive, and I already had an account with them.

whattodoforthebest2 · 12/05/2025 06:20

I think it’s diabetics that have to have a blood test first. I didn’t, i ordered on Thursday from Ashcroft Pharmacy, the kit arrived on Friday and i did my jab straightaway.

WhynotJanet · 12/05/2025 07:05

Week 2 weigh in this morning and I’ve lost 5lbs! Decided to keep my jab day as Mondays because it seems to be working. I actually had more suppression through the day yesterday which was day W1D7

SW 15st 3lbs
CW 14st 12lbs
GW 11st 9lbs

FlatErica · 12/05/2025 07:08

Hi everyone! I collect my first dose today. So excited I couldn’t sleep last night. My starting weight is 86.75kg (13st 9.2lbs) and my goal weight is 60kg (9st 5lbs). I’m 58 and 5 feet 4 inches tall. Reading all the threads now but if anyone has recommendations for essential threads, please let me know! X

SussexLass87 · 12/05/2025 07:30

Welcome to the new starters this week! Hope you're feeling okay & the only SE are positive ones 😊

Week 2 weigh in for me:
SW: 16st 13lbs
CW: 16st 7lbs

6lbs down in 2 weeks which I'm pretty happy about. NSW so are feeling more calm & confident in general, skin is better, sleeping better, flatter tummy.

I have a ball with my DH to go to (he's in the Forces) in July and it's one of my short term aims to feel more confident in my dress at that 🙏

Well done! It’s great to have something to aim for isn’t it! I said to my husband I am not buying any new clothes until a month before our holiday which is the end of August so that’s my goal!

Phat2fin · 12/05/2025 08:17

@ScoobyAndScrappy I think SheMed are the only provider that make you do a blood test, but even then it’s not like getting blood taken at the GP surgery or hospital. They have this clever little device that you stick on the top part of your arm, press a button, and wait for the little tube to fill with blood.

Apprenante · 12/05/2025 09:00

ScoobyAndScrappy · 11/05/2025 23:39

Hi everyone. Do you have to have a blood test or do only certain people have to? I hate having my blood taken. I always have terrible problems. I usually have to have it taken from the back of me knee not before being stabbed all over my body looking for blood :(
Please can someone put my mind at rest. TIA.

I didn't have a blood test - Medexpress.
Good luck.

Hi everyone hope it’s ok for me to join. I just started yesterday on mounjaro. Took it in the morning and by lunch time already wasn’t as hungry as usual! I was really tired though and woke up exhausted today, feeling nauseous and I think the sulfur burps are starting 🤢 not even excited about my morning coffee which never happens 😅

Mounraine · 12/05/2025 09:19

May 1st was my second attempt at taking Mounjaro, but my pharmacist and I have agreed for me to take a break. This is because another health issue has emerged, and MJ might be causing side effects that are unhelpful/confounding this underlying condition. I feel a bit deflated.

Thought I would post about it because when I've read earlier threads, I've often wondered what happened to all of the posters who were around when the thread first started but then stopped posting.

Good luck everyone for the rest of your journey!

Thank you so much for putting my mind at rest over the blood test-it is very much appreciated.

Well done to all of you and good luck with your weight loss/getting healthier journey.

I'm so sorry Mounraine, you have tried so hard to keep going through side effects.
You are also such a lovely supportive person to other people on their weight loss journeys.

I hope your health issue resolves soon and you feel better. Your weightloss has been amazing considering what you've been through and I hope it's some consolation that although you've had to stop you've done so well in the most difficult of circumstances.

Goodluckeveryone · 12/05/2025 09:52

First week complete and 7lbs down 🥳😁 will take my 2nd jab tonight.
Hoping for less SE this time 🤞
So lovely to read everyone’s results 💜

U53rn8m3ch8ng3 · 12/05/2025 09:54

Day 3 for me and not remotely hungry. Having to force myself to eat something so that I'm not running on empty. Wondering how long this feeling will last? Its hard work forcing myself to eat, what an about turn lol 🤣

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 12/05/2025 10:13

Morning, joining the May crew a bit late.
i've had Mounjaro in the fridge (unopened) since January but have been too scared to take the first step. Yesterday I finally injected.

40 5'5"
SW: 240lbs
GW: 140lbs

I've never been this heavy before but since I started drinking every day during the pandemic, the weight has piled on. I'm hoping MJ helps with the drink noise, and to eat smaller portions. BUT, I have no idea what I'm going to do with all the free time i'll have from not drinking every night.

I need to get a life.

Mounraine · 12/05/2025 10:25

Thank you so much @Coffeeandallthebooks - that was such a lovely message! (I love your name too 🙂).

I think it does help reduce the drink noise as well.

I have still had some wine at the weekend since starting, but nowhere near what I would have drunk without taking the injections. It's now much easier to have a glass of wine alongside a tall glass of sparkling water and concentrate far more on the sparkling water than the wine!

The only thing I do notice is that the suppression effect overall reduces day 5 and 6. Last night I was tempted to have a piece of cheese after dinner and had to stop myself from doing so. Next jab (3rd one) is tomorrow.

MoggiMay · 12/05/2025 10:32

Weighed myself this morning and ANOTHER lb down!! That’s 7lb in 6 days (9 if you include my weight going up 2lbs after my initial weigh in)

I know it won’t be like this every week but OMG do I feel good!! If I can get under 18st that’s more than I’ve managed all year (I put on 11lbs between March and May). 2lbs a week would do me!

Kipperandarthur · 12/05/2025 10:33

@ Mounraine
I too am sorry to hear that you are going to need to stop again.

But looking at your stats, you can do this without as you've only got 2 stone to shift to get to your goal weight. That is definitely achievable the traditional route. Even 1/2lb a week would get you on track. Good luck going forward.

Well done. Yes I agree even 1lb if consistent would do me. I will be delighted if I can achieve the 2lb a week. But if I can aim for a steady 1lb to 2lb a week over a period of a year it would get me where I want to be.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 12/05/2025 10:41

@Kipperandarthur I'm really hopeful! I had 3 small glasses of wine last night, compared to what I'd normally have on a Sunday. Before the pandemic, bereavement and divorce, I wouldn't drink on a Sunday at all. 4 Years later and on a Sunday I would typically drink:

Four 330ml bottles of beer
2 double Jack Daniels and diet coke (the diet part here just makes me wince)
1 bottle of white wine or prosecco

= a total of around 1,500 calories.

So last night I had three small glasses of wine, around 340 calories.

Wow. Holy shit.

Phat2fin · 12/05/2025 10:55

@Mounraine sorry to hear that, hoping you feel better soon Flowers

Phat2fin · 12/05/2025 10:58

@DidILeaveTheGasOn Wow, that’s fantastic! And cutting down on the alcohol will have so many other benefits too other than less calories
