Couldn't see a thread for may but hoping I can find fellow starters to chat with. I've opted to go with SheMed and have just received my blood test kit through so should be starting within the next week or 2!

First dose done Friday evening and so far no side affects (touch wood), I literally feel like I have no appetite, I usually am wandering around in the kitchen looking for snacks over the weekend. The food noise just seems to have stopped.
I made a conscience effort to try to be active, it's an international walking weekend in our local area and today with my youngest we enjoyed a 10km walk. Sunshine, and lots of water. She says to me 'I am proud of you for trying new things' my 7 year old making me nearly blub 🥺

BluNavy · 11/05/2025 15:34

@GeraniumRoseblush
How many shots have you taken?
I see an estimated level on the summary page, alongside "shots taken" and "last done". I think it only showed me an estimate level once I had taken my second shot. I'm using the free version

Mounjaronew · 11/05/2025 15:53

Just had dose 2 there now after a swim in sea. I was quite hungry before I injected. I am interested to see if that hunger disappears.

GagaBinks · 11/05/2025 16:21

Hello! I took my first shot on Thursday so today is day three. Friday I couldn't believe how little I didn't want food. I had to basically force myself to eat a little lunch and a small dinner. Saturday I ate 3 meals but much smaller than normal. Today I woke with diarrhea and sulphur burps. Mostly gone now.

Got about 4 stone to lose.

GeraniumRoseblush · 11/05/2025 16:39

@BluNavy 2 shots. And I've found it now. I was too focused on the estimated medication section and didn't see it above it 🤪

SilkCottonTree · 11/05/2025 17:28

Day 3 for me too. No side effects apart from good ones i.e. no food noise and no hunger outside of meal times. I did a gym class this morning and the air con wasn't working and I did start to feel a bit nauseous then realised I hadn't eaten anything so had some toast soon afterwards and was fine. I did wake up last night with some mildly painful trapped wind, which went away quite quickly.

I want to say on 2.5mg for as long as possible. I am not looking for hardcore appetite suppression, just enough that I don't snack or over eat. Also I want to lose weight fairly slowly, ideally at around 1kg per week to try and avoid gall stones, hair loss and the dreaded mounjaro face!

Hope everyone has been having a good weekend :)

Having done my first injection this morning I’ve been surprised how little I am craving food in the normal situations that trigger me. Out at a cafe today - usually that would be a mocha and a cake - I just ate a sandwich as I thought I should as it was lunchtime. Is this the drug or a placebo???

Same! I went to the pub with some family earlier and a glass of wine and crisps is just ‘what I do’. I slowly munched through the packet but no part of me was interested. Also not sure if that’s placebo or not.
I’ve been up since 6am and I’ve had a toastie and half a packet of crisps. Much less than usual.

Yes, I had a very dry mouth at first but it went away after a few days and it hasn't returned. It will help you get your water intake up 🤣

That's so true , I've never drunk so much water!
I have zero appetite, like nothing. I'm having to force myself to eat something because I can't stomach the thought of food.

hottubsundays · 11/05/2025 18:37

I got the prescription from my diabetic nurse on Friday but then I couldn’t find a pharmacy that was open or stocked MJ, was driving everywhere! Then when I finally found it in my big Boots, I realised I hadn’t been prescribed the needles, even the pharmacist was confused. So a last minute call to the gp Friday evening and I collected the prescription. Then sent my husband on a wild goose chase around all the pharmacies again to find needles yesterday! So determined to take my first dose tonight, nothing was going to stop me!

Hoping next month will be less dramatic, she is prescribing me the 5mg dose after 4 weeks. Going to get my husband to jab me at bedtime 😜 wish me luck!

I knew this was impressive when I threw a Belgian bun away the other day because it had gone stale. 😅

Are people sticking with the same provider or switching about for the best deal? I started with SheMed but I’ve just cancelled because I found the weekly check-in really uncomfortable.

Peachblossom25 · 11/05/2025 08:04

Apparently it does build up in the system. I have the Shotsy app - if you click on the calendar and then the date it will show you the predicted levels for that day. You don’t need the premium to do this.

Ooh thanks I’ve downloaded this app and put my data in. Have you noticed it build up and then drop off later in the week when nearing next dose? I will be obsessing over this data this week 🤓🤓

I’m really interested in this too, as I went with a provider that gave no support whatsoever and am wondering if I need a bit more hand holding going forward…… But how does it work if you are asking a new provider for 5mg - do you have to provide proof that you did the 2.5mg jab? Do you have to start again with 2.5?

JantoDec · 11/05/2025 20:50

Day 3 and I’m amazed! Luckily no side effects other than being thirsty all the time but just drinking loads of water.
I’ve managed between 900 and 1200 calories for three days, not really fancied food or thought about it but just ate sensible portions of healthy food and felt easily satisfied.
Before this I was secretly scoffing crisps, chocolate and cakes and now I have no desire for them at all.
Long may it continue!

I ordered with Numan this time as had a £100 off code, but will be going with a different provider for next month, as Numan full price is over £200, and I don't think I'll use the support coaches etc they offer.

First dose this morning. No side effects as yet, just feeling very 'flat'. I love food and think about it all the time...but today I am not thinking about it, and it turns out that's all I was thinking about! I am completely empty headed and feeling a bit lost. I must spend most of my time eating, as today I haven't known what to do with myself. Going to bed in a minute with a book just to escape the aimless feeling. Could this all be in my head? It seems ridiculously early to have silenced the 'food noise'.

MrsCreek · 11/05/2025 21:40

I finally did it! Long story short, pen arrived mid afternoon yesterday, DH and DMil and DFil all sat around watching me taking delivery Confused So I fessed up to DH and gave him strict instructions to be supportive, popped it in the fridge, enjoyed a BBQ yesterday, roast cooked my DMil today and am now in bed after jabbing the (miniscule!) needle. It’s a bit like the Covid tests used to be. Lots of steps to follow, but actually very straight forward and no drama. Now eagerly awaiting positive effects and am sending out vibes that nasty side effects are not welcome! Grin

Your daughter sounds like a wonderful girl. I would have teared up for sure!🥹

I’ve been thinking of starting Mounjaro for a long time but been a bit wary of any negative side effects and other peoples opinions. However, I’ve got 2 DC and I owe it to them to get healthier so I’ve just done my first jab. fingers crossed this works with minimal SE. I’m just hoping that this helps with the food noise.

Good luck Ellie09! Your reasons for doing this are exactly as mine - we have to be there for the kids for a long time to come!!

I’m 5 days in and 6lbs down (well, 8lbs as I put on two after I did my initial weigh in). I’m using Voy with the app and the coach combined and that’s really helping too. No side effects so far either! Hope your road is as trouble free too!

2old4thisshit · 11/05/2025 23:10

i spoke to my chemist on Friday and I’m booked in for a consultation and first months supply tomorrow. I feel excited but really apprehensive, not sure what the side effects may be, majorly worried about dodgy stomach issues, I’m a teacher and it’s going to be awkward if I have the runs.

Not in your head! This is exactly how I’ve been this week - day 5 for me. Food noise went for me the very first day! Wishing you loads of luck

Thank you! You sound like you’re doing amazing so far, 8lb is an incredible loss in a week!

Hi everyone. Do you have to have a blood test or do only certain people have to? I hate having my blood taken. I always have terrible problems. I usually have to have it taken from the back of me knee not before being stabbed all over my body looking for blood :(
Please can someone put my mind at rest. TIA.
