Couldn't see a thread for may but hoping I can find fellow starters to chat with. I've opted to go with SheMed and have just received my blood test kit through so should be starting within the next week or 2!

Hi, can I join you all? My first pen arrived yesterday and I have taken it this morning. I am really overthinking things, oscillating between anxiety about terrible side effects and convincing myself this will have no effect at all for me.

i have a lot to lose to get to a healthy BMI, over 10 stone, and have spent most of my adult life dieting and doing the latest fad without any lasting success so really need to make a big change. I can’t think that far ahead so just going to have the next BMI category down as my first target.

Planning to focus on the protein (no idea how I will get the 112g I apparently need due to my weight) and upping the hydration for now.

I can only talk from my experience, but I just went for it as soon as my pen arrived. Literally 5 minutes laters there I was, stabbing myself with it. I figured I won't know how the side effects will be for me until I try it ...also remember the side effects come and go, and some people have very small ones.

In my eyes I could only win.

I'm now about 8lbs and I just wish I started months ago (instead I put on another stone on since January).

I have PCOS so weight loss felt almost impossible for me (would take me 2 weeks to lose 2 lbs, only to put that back on after 1 dinner out)

Obviously do it at your own pace, but hopefully all the success stories on this forum will help.

Good luck on your journey 🤞🏼

Hi all,

I have been following this post for the last few days - first time posting.
I have a pen in the basket ready to go - been thinking of this and researching for months now but yesterday we lost a family member suddenly and that has spurred me on to doing something about my weight.

My reason for not doing it so far is because of my daughter (2yo) I wouldn’t want any horrible side effects to mean I am hospitalised or worse (although ironically I am obese on BMI and so I’m putting myself at risk anyway so then I think just do it!) I would also be paying for it (simple online pharmacy unless there are better recommendations?) so cost is a factor.

My question is - weighing up side effects/cost etc, would you recommend Mounjaro?

Thank you for reading and good luck everyone with your journeys xx

Delivery finally arrived! Ice packs were defrosted but still very cold. Pen is now in the fridge and I will give it an hour and then - jab time!

Glad it’s with you now - better late than never but still annoying !
Were you able to avoid telling DH ?

Mounraine · 10/05/2025 16:02

I think everyone on this post is going to give you advice to try it :) My first jab on Mounjaro either caused or coincided with something that left me incapacitated for three days and in hospital for 17 hours. I took a break but was willing to give it a second go. I'm taking it a pen at a time, knowing I can stop if/when any side effects don't feel worth it.

Onceuponatimethen · 10/05/2025 16:35

@Apprenante thank you! We’ve just been for a long walk as he’s also trying to up exercise as well. I will try to keep up so I can support him with any side effects and encourage etc to the extent he wants me to be involved.

GeraniumRoseblush · 10/05/2025 17:00

@PandyMoanyMum haha I was also scared to jab the first time and it turned out to be a massive non-event 🤪 Good luck when you do go for it.

I drink fizzy water and was definitely bloated the first week which may have been linked to that. Or may not, who knows. In any event, I'm feeling less bloaty so far after my second jab. And my sulphur burps have stopped which I'm very happy about! 😁

TimeForTeaAndMe · 10/05/2025 18:07

Omg I made a mistake when calculating my loss the other day, I was gutted as thought I'd only lost just under 2lb,

Took second jab yesterday. Checked on scales again
Was only after checking my app I realised I'd actually lost 7lb 😲 gob smacked. I can't really see it or feel it yet but it definitely spurs you on to keep going.

I am struggling with food though.
I've decided I'd best getting recipes for veggie meals as I can't eat things like "chicken" Eggs" or fish 😔 I have to get my protein from my diet protein shakes twice a day. Any ideas welcome 🙏

Sorry for your loss. I just wanted to say that you are right that you being obese is a bigger risk factor than side effects from Mounjaro. I say this a someone also in the obese BMI category. I also
have pre diabetes and high blood pressure so more of a reason to focus on losing weight and getting healthier, just as your young child is you focus. Also make sure that you are storing the pen in the fridge until you have started using it. Then you don’t need to.

I am at end of the first week. Will inject again tomorrow. I lost 8 lbs which I am very pleased about. It’s been quite a strange week. I gave up sugar, cakes, biscuits anything like that with no effort really. I am only snacking on healthy things. I easily gave up the shop bought midday sandwiches. All good. I got hungry today for first time but found myself craving salad!. Only problem really is that the wine cravings are back. One of my reasons for trying this is to reduce those. I won’t beat myself up though. It has been tough few days with first grandchild madly overdue. Born today and all well :-). So when I take second dose tomorrow I will focus on wine reduction! I know I will get even better results when I do that.

Mounjaronew · 10/05/2025 19:59

I also would add I had no real side effects.

FreeHugZZ · 10/05/2025 20:21

so I’ve just done my second injection and a sneaky weight check (official weigh in day is tomorrow) and I’ve lost 8lb! DH is also losing weight but not using MJ and he’s 26 stone 😳 he lost 9lb it’s great doing it together it’s making meal times a lot easier. I feel really good I’ve not had any stomach/bowel pain since I’ve stoped all the crappy greasy food, I’ve been buying home gym stuff so will start that on Monday also going to drag my DD13 to swimming next week as moral support 😂

Needsomeadvice2234 · 10/05/2025 20:37

I'm only a day in and zero side effects so far. It's like I can feel my stomach is hungry but the noise is very far away and I just can't be bothered to eat - disconnect between brain and stomach which is brilliant. I've done a 30min walk and 460 calories so need to up this tomorrow. Can't wait to weigh myself before my next jab...

Apprenante · 10/05/2025 20:53

Congratulations to you and your family @Mounjaronew ! Enjoy being a granny - I do.

Can I join? Have lurked for a couple of weeks while I waited for my SheMed pen, then had a work trip away but got back this evening and thought I should get on with injection. Have weighed this evening on new scales, so am at a new high weight. That’s motivated me to get on with first injection so all done. Hoping no immediate severe side effects as eldest has a few friends coming round for his birthday tomorrow. Well done everyone- your stories have inspired me. Starting weight 101.5kg. Aiming for 75. Let’s see what happens!

BerfyTigot · 10/05/2025 22:12

Finally ordered it after months of deliberation. Due to start in Tues and really looking forward it!

sunshinesandringham · 11/05/2025 06:46

Morning! Hope everyone is feeling ok and side effects lessening . I’ve work yo today and THINK I felt hungry for a short time and that’s the first time this week! 2nd jab is Tuesday so would make sense I guess. As a total chocoholic the biggest surprise to me has been the total lack of any want for anything like that . Not even remotely interested. Have a great day

Seahorsesplendour · 11/05/2025 07:04

Good morning all!! After a week on the thread I did my jab yesterday!!! Felt huge in my head - the reality was a lot less 😂didn’t feel a thing and no bad side effects as yet!

I didn’t even consider chocolate last night which is very unusual!! Not sure if placebo effect but whatever it is I’ll take it!! Mildly hungry this morning so off for some yoghurt oats and fruit with some protein powder mixed in!

At a party later for a birthday & intrigued to see what happens there!!

hope everyone has a great day!!

ConfusedMiddleAger83 · 11/05/2025 07:33

Morning all. I woke up on day 2 here with a mild headache and starving hungry, not feeling any suppression yet and the food noise is at peak levels, feels like starting yet another diet and obsessing over what to eat/drink. Know I need to be patient and it could be weeks before I get to an effective dose but after so many failed diets in the past the defeatism is kicking in.

Managed to eat really well yesterday though when the rest of the family had takeaway and hit my protein and hydration targets so need to try and take the wins…

U53rn8m3ch8ng3 · 11/05/2025 07:39

Morning all, did my first jab yesterday mid morning. Ate a salad for lunch and no word iof a lie was full for most of the day. Fancied a bowl of cereal in the evening , having missed tea earlier, and couldn't even eat it all. Not feeling hungry yet today...anyone else got a reeeeeeeeeally dry mouth?! Slight headache yesterday afternoon but that's all 😄

keeponplodding7 · 11/05/2025 07:58

Morning! Day 5 here and all good. No side effects really - had sore glands on day 1 and felt a little tired with a bad nights sleep. But all good now. Suppression is not strong exactly - but I don’t want to snack/eat sweet stuff at all and I don’t tend to finish my meals which I’m pleased with. I was already eating very clean and healthy (but really wanting the bad stuff) and exercising a lot to be honest since Jan so I think that’s helped a lot as cut the cravings completely . I did have some wine last night which I enjoyed but stopped after a couple of glasses and feel lovely and refreshed this morning! I’m down 2lb so far on the scale this morning - happy with this

wantmorenow · 11/05/2025 08:01

W1D4 few side effects thankfully. Extreme tiredness on day 2, slept at teatime for a few hours. Have been thinking a lot about food, shopping for healthy high protein stuff but little appetite. No alcohol attraction at all and I was drinking a lot of wine daily. Now drinking a lot of water and herbal teas. So far so good.

Did 2nd jab on Friday pm and first weigh in. Lost 4.4lbs which I’m fairly happy with.
Had no side effects from 2nd jab at all so far really so all good.
I was out yesterday at family get together where there was lots of food. Found it really easy to say no to all the sweet stuff, I don’t feel like I’m missing out at all if I don’t have it.
Looking forward to seeing how this week goes.
