Leveluplou · 29/04/2025 14:21

Couldn't see a thread for may but hoping I can find fellow starters to chat with. I've opted to go with SheMed and have just received my blood test kit through so should be starting within the next week or 2!

morning! first week done for me and had minimal side effects and moderate supression.

SW: 14 stone 9
CW 14 stone 6
GW: 11 stone
BMI: 31.6

looking forward to week 2.

SussexLass87 · 10/05/2025 07:21

Also doing a check in - first week over and I'm due to inject later today.

Been lucky and had minimal SE, but had a migraine yesterday (get them anyway)

NSW so far have been less anxious, more focused, bra fitting better (anyone else hate having big boobs?!) and more energy at the gym.

I need to up my food though and definitely concentrate on getting more protein in. Haven't had sugar all week!

Hope everyone is doing well and got nice weekend plans ahead? I'm taking the DC to the beach ⛱️

SilkCottonTree · 10/05/2025 07:31

Day 3 for me and have woke up with a headache again. Feels like a hangover headache when it hurts when I move my head, but will
drink some salty water and take an ibuprofen later which did the trick yesterday. That’s the only negative side effect so far. The positive side effect is that I didn’t actually realise I suffered from ‘food noise’ until it has now gone, absolutely amazing!

Have a good weekend all :)

sunshinesandringham · 10/05/2025 07:40

Morning everyone ☺️ day 5 for me . I had awful burps day 1/2 but they seem to have gone now . I’m amazed at having no “food noise” , I’ve just entirely stopped focussing on food and all that it entails. I don’t know if the suppression is as strong today as it was days 2/3 ? Does mj build up, as in will there still be some in my body when I take the next dose? I’ve downloaded the Shotsy app but not paid for the premium service - that apprently shows you the levels of the drug predicted in your body so I may do that . I’m about to start work , hope everyone has a lovely weekend in the sun

@WhynotJanet yes. Counting calories and macros. I’m managing to eat 1600 kcal a day with at least 100g protein but I’m burning between 2800 and 3200 according to Apple Watch. I’ve been cycling and weight training and think that deficit is too much to sustain when exercising. I don’t fancy eating more or feel particularly hungry but I think the deficit is too much to stay healthy. Or Apple Watch calorie burn could be way out!

What deficits are others working to?

Ok. I should be on 1400 ish which is my TDEE minus 500. Actually averaging between 1300-1400 this week. Protein intake about 60-80, but will start using shakes to help. I also don’t do anywhere near as much activity as you do.

lissie123 · 10/05/2025 08:51

Felt nauseous this morning. Dh made me a cuof tea and I had a couple of dates. Felt better and managed some breakfast just now but didn’t finish it.

MoggiMay · 10/05/2025 09:01

Weighed myself today, first injection was Tuesday 6th May. 6lb down so far (I’ve been calorie counting too)

feeling ever so positive!

AlrightTrouble · 10/05/2025 09:06

End of first week for me, I will be jabbing again this evening. The food noise has mostly gone even at 2.5mg. I don’t have scales at home so haven’t weighed - I don’t think I’ve lost a great deal, though I’m looking thinner in the face I think and my boobs are smaller (the first things to change when I’ve dieted in the past). For me, the impressive change is looking in the fridge and not fancying ANYTHING. DC bought a cake that they hadn’t eaten and I threw it out because it had gone stale. That would’ve been fantastical two weeks ago. No side effects beyond feeling a bit dehydrated even after 2L of water, and a feeling of tiredness.

MrsCreek · 10/05/2025 09:16

My delivery did not arrive Angry it was scheduled for 3-4pm yesterday, it was showing as delayed and eventually I had an email saying it would still arrive later. But it didn’t. I have just had a text saying it will arrive between 12 and 1 today! Isn’t it meant to be refrigerated??

U53rn8m3ch8ng3 · 10/05/2025 09:20

Just done my first dose!
Confused though, now that one dose has been done it can be kept at room temp? It's only before the first dose it has to be in the fridge?

FancyNewt · 10/05/2025 09:26

I've just ordered my first pen of 2.5mg. I am expecting to start next week.

Is it better to start on a particular day of the week?

IndieRocknRoll · 10/05/2025 09:47

Did my first weigh in this morning after week 1 and I’ve lost 4lb!! I was 10st 6 last Sat and 10st 2 today.

Realistically I know a lot of that will have been water etc but even so I was only expecting to lose around 1lb a week as I’m 4ft 11 and don’t have a lot to lose. It tends to come off very slowly so I’m really with happy with that.
I’ve been sticking to around 1200 calories a day. Sometimes less, sometimes more.

My suppression has definitely worn off today though - woke up starving! I’ve just taken jab number 2.

I chose Saturday morning as if there are side effects, it gives me 2 days before I’m at work on the Monday.
I’ve also found suppression wears off over the week so doing the jab at the start of the weekend when there’s lots of temptations around will hopefully help me stay on track.

Onceuponatimethen · 10/05/2025 10:03

Does anyone mind if I join to support my dh who has just ordered mounjaro? He is nervous and when I showed him this thread he’s keen to have some company but doesn’t want to post himself as he’s quite shy. He’s scared about doing the injections but feeling positive about having taken the first step.

I started on a Thursday as I work from home on Fridays then had the weekend in case of any unpleasant side effects, so it depends on your schedule :)

Apprenante · 10/05/2025 10:12

@Onceuponatimethen What a great support you'll be for him! Tell him to stop worrying about the injection. It is so much less painful than he'll be thinking. The anticipation is the the only problem.

Woodywig · 10/05/2025 10:27

Morning all May starters,

week 2, day 2 for me.

luckily I’ve had minimal effects so far. Just a slight metallic taste and a few more burps than usual - not sulphur burps thankfully.

I haven’t really had much / any? suppression or food aversion - still feel peckish and eating three meals a day. But I do feel full more quickly so have been eating smaller potions. I’ve also managed to cut out all the empty calories from unhealthy snacking which is my downfall.

I'm eating 1300 - 1500 calories a day (based on TDEE for a 1kg per week loss) and am upping protein and limiting processed carbs.

lost 1.7 kg in my first week - so not as much as many are seeing - but in keeping with my TDEE eating plan.

sorry to everyone feeling rough or having bad SE. Hope you start feeling better soon.

wishing everyone a lovely weekend.

@Lovecycling I'm working to 500 cals below maintenance which is around 1300 for me and aim for 30% protein. I do weights 3x a week but don't track calories burned from exercise.

I lost 2lbs last week (my first week) so I think that tracks about right - 1lb linked to the lower food calories and then probably 1lb for using up more calories from exercise? Not really sure.

In any case, hoping for a consistent loss of around 2lbs a week. Someone reminded me that one of those packs of sugar is 1kg so I'm using that as a motivating thought 👊

Weeblenomore · 10/05/2025 11:09

W1 over and going to do 2nd jab today. Lost 2.5lbs which I’m pleased about. Got the dreaded sulphur burps on day 5 but they had gone by day 6. I’m hoping they don’t happen again as I felt really self conscious at work 🤦‍♀️ No other side effects so far.
The suppression has been strong all week for me - in fact I’m struggling to eat enough tbh, I just don’t feel hungry. Main thing I’ve noticed is that I have no thoughts of chocolate, biscuits and all the other snacks I used to crave which is miraculous as I was a serial snacker!
Good luck all and I hope SE lessen for those of you suffering.

ConfusedMiddleAger83 · 10/05/2025 11:20

Hi, can I join you all? My first pen arrived yesterday and I have taken it this morning. I am really overthinking things, oscillating between anxiety about terrible side effects and convincing myself this will have no effect at all for me.

i have a lot to lose to get to a healthy BMI, over 10 stone, and have spent most of my adult life dieting and doing the latest fad without any lasting success so really need to make a big change. I can’t think that far ahead so just going to have the next BMI category down as my first target.

Planning to focus on the protein (no idea how I will get the 112g I apparently need due to my weight) and upping the hydration for now.

Edited

Just realised that I’ve actually lost 4lbs since starting last Saturday!
SW 13st 12lbs
CW 13st 8lbs
Target 9st 12lbs

Sia9 · 10/05/2025 11:55

Morning all. Just did 2nd jab.
Suppression definitely wore off by day 6/7 but I managed to stay on track.

4lb loss for the first week Grin

We were out for dinner last night and I was very impressed not to have even had 1 glass of alcohol.
I shared a chicken shish with my son, didn’t eat the pitta and had a very small side of chips plus salad.
Normally would have eaten the whole thing to myself, plus dessert and a fair few glasses of wine so proud of myself !

W2 D1
H 5ft
SW 11st 7lb
CW 11st 3lb

MrsCreek · 10/05/2025 13:22

Delivery finally arrived! Ice packs were defrosted but still very cold. Pen is now in the fridge and I will give it an hour and then - jab time!

PandyMoanyMum · 10/05/2025 13:53

My first pen has just arrived too. I’ve just been reading that I should avoid oily and/or spicy food, and also anything fizzy. I’ve just eaten some vine leaves which were a bit oily. Now I’m too scared to jab! Should I wait until tomorrow? Anyone know 😬

Mounraine · 10/05/2025 13:58

I’ve not had problems with oily or spicy food, but avoid deep fried foods and bubbles.
Edit - eg today we stopped at a pub on a walk and I had lime and soda (really didn’t fancy anything else) and got heartburn on the rest of the walk.
