Couldn't see a thread for may but hoping I can find fellow starters to chat with. I've opted to go with SheMed and have just received my blood test kit through so should be starting within the next week or 2!

Braved the scales this morning (eek!) so here are my starting stats :
F, 72 years
Height : 5ft 1.5inches
SW : 12st 6lbs
TW: 9st 12lbs

Dry mouth and a bit of a headache, but didn’t sleep well after getting up in the wee small hours to do my first injection. Resolved to up my water intake from today , so hopefully that will help .

Welcome to the thread. I'm 71 and it's great to see someone else here in my age bracket! Good luck.
I'm W2 day1 so have just done my second WLI. Lost 8 3lbs in the first week. I was worried about having worse side effects being older but so far that's not the case - just a bit of heartburn.

Height 5 ft 2
SW 14st 8
Current W 14 st
Short term goal 13 st

Lovecycling · 09/05/2025 14:39

Week one done and down 6.5lbs. Really happy with that. Last couple of days had less suppression but it was fine. I think I’m not eating enough though so will need to think about that. Just done second jab so hoping to avoid side effects this week again.

AlrightTrouble · 09/05/2025 14:45

@SeahorsesplendourI went for a Saturday night as I reasoned if I had symptoms they’d be happening when I was asleep. 😅

Herewegoagain80 · 09/05/2025 17:17

I’ve just done my 2nd jab. Week 1 was a bit strange and seemed to go the opposite way to most people. I had no suppression at all for the first half of the week and then a mild suppression which got slightly stronger as the week went on. I’m still eating 3 healthy meals per day but not snacking. I had no side effects either so I hope that continues for week 2.

At the end of week 1 I’ve lost 3 lbs. I’m happy with that considering lack of suppression at the start.

MrsCreek · 09/05/2025 17:31

Delivery is now 1hr 20mins past the 1 hour window. Bloody parcel will probably turn up at the same time as DH at this rate!

Phat2fin · 09/05/2025 17:41

Just took my second injection. Weight loss for first week was 3.5kg (7.7lb). I’m hoping for less side effects this time!

MrsCreek · 09/05/2025 17:42

Well done! That is a great result Smile

Phat2fin · 09/05/2025 17:48

Yes - although in fairness I was pre-menstrual right before I started last last week and was retaining fluid, my ankles were pretty swollen and they aren’t now

ElsieJay · 09/05/2025 17:58

Some impressive Week One losses , very motivating!
Well done, everyone.

Dontopenthetrapdoor · 09/05/2025 18:32

Week 1 done for me and I have lost 2lbs. SW 14st 8lbs, goal weight 10st.

Needsomeadvice2234 · 09/05/2025 18:52

Just done my 1st jab (well DH did lol). Can't lie - am feeling a bit apprehensive but trying to stay calm and not obssess over side effects. So nervous!

PumpKim · 09/05/2025 19:05

LessWeightKate · 09/05/2025 13:14

@GeraniumRoseblush I was surprised to see that raspberries have twice the fibre of kiwi and strawberries and more too per serving than the bran flakes I was struggling to eat!

They are on sale in Lidl this week, so I am making the most of them. Also, they taste better than I remember, which I think is the MJ working its taste buds magic 😅

This! I thought I didn't like raspberries but really enjoyed a punnet full this week 🤣

PandyMoanyMum · 09/05/2025 19:08

Hi there, hope it’s ok to join you?

I’m hoping to start over the weekend, I ordered from cloud pharmacy and delivery is on Saturday but I’m not sure when! Too worried to go out in case I miss the delivery! Will I get a text or something?

SW 5’6 and 14 stone

Feeling nervous but excited. I’m really hoping this is going to work and I can feel good about myself.

WhynotJanet · 09/05/2025 19:08

What amazing losses, well done!

WhynotJanet · 09/05/2025 19:09

@Lovecycling Are you calorie counting?

Lovecycling · 09/05/2025 19:20

WhynotJanet · 09/05/2025 19:09

@Lovecycling Are you calorie counting?

@WhynotJanet yes. Counting calories and macros. I’m managing to eat 1600 kcal a day with at least 100g protein but I’m burning between 2800 and 3200 according to Apple Watch. I’ve been cycling and weight training and think that deficit is too much to sustain when exercising. I don’t fancy eating more or feel particularly hungry but I think the deficit is too much to stay healthy. Or Apple Watch calorie burn could be way out!

What deficits are others working to?

Shesellsseashellsh · 09/05/2025 19:42

I picked mine up in Lidl, but most supermarkets stock it. The brand is Two Chicks and it’s in a little carton. It’s also fairly cheap - £3.30 for 15 free range egg whites

Sorry - it missed off the quote. This was in response to the question about where I buy egg white!

AccidentalPrawnYouFool · 09/05/2025 19:50

I’ve lost track of days. Jabbing again Sunday so I’m on day 5 or 6? 6lbs down now, and now noticible 🥳 I am feeling slightly more hungry today than earlier in the week, but still eaten very healthily. I am hoping the next jab will top up the suppression a bit? Has anyone found it wears off a bit towards the next shot?

LessWeightKate · 09/05/2025 19:54

It's so bizarre (but delicious!)

My order is finally despatched and due to arrive tomorrow 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

BETTYBOBBO · 09/05/2025 22:12

Had my first 2.5mg last night. Had vivid but very strange dreams and interrupted sleep. Went to bed at 10.30 pm and had to get out of bed at 4am and again a
at 5.30 to go to the bathroom with diarrhoea symptoms. Felt OK this morning. Went on a 3 mile dog walk at 6 am. Felt a bit nauseous for a hour but haven’t really felt hungry all day. Has some wine tonight with a small dinner but felt full very quickly. Have had no desire to eat snacks during the day. I have felt really cold all day but not sure if that is connected. I feel very positive and am looking forward to see what the rest of the week brings.

lissie123 · 09/05/2025 22:15

It’s my second day after my first injection. Yesterday was awful in the evening- I had trapped wind and bloating. Today less so but now gave a metallic taste in my mouth. Not sure what to do about the bloating and taste. Stuck to three meals and no snacking so far.

SeaEssence · 09/05/2025 22:23

Week in, 6lb down (part water though), no side effects (phew!). I struggle to eat, especially protein, need to make more effort prepping and scheduling myself as this is not a sustainable weight loss I'm after.
On another hand, I'm wondering if there is any need for stronger dose if 2.5mg works so well for me...is it worth asking the pharmacist?

From lurking on other threads with people further along their journey, the advice I most often see is to move up the doses as slowly as possible - so to stay at the lowest dose you can where you’re losing weight to both minimise side effects, give you somewhere to ‘go’ if you’re on MJ for a long time, and save money. That said, if the price difference between your 2.5mg and 5mg pen isn’t massive, you could buy a 5mg and just do half the clicks of a dose before injecting (again saw this recommended on other threads). That way you can move up to 5mg before the 4 weeks is up if you need to and you can squeeze 5 doses out within 30 days without needing to use a golden dose
