Couldn't see a thread for may but hoping I can find fellow starters to chat with. I've opted to go with SheMed and have just received my blood test kit through so should be starting within the next week or 2!

Tonight I'm taking my first dose. I hate injections but my mother in law is diabetic and is going to show me what to do.
F39 5ft5"
SW 16st 9lbs
GW 11st.

After years of no motivation and food noise I'm seeing this as my ultimate goal. I WILL get my weight down, I WILL buy nice clothes for our first holiday abroad, I WILL better myself!

BrienneMonroe · 09/05/2025 08:29

1st weigh in this morning. 5.2lbs down.

Will be doing 2nd jab tonight when I get home.

Sleeping really well. Think my side effects were down to eating later than I normally would. Been fine (fingers crossed) since.

Shesellsseashellsh · 09/05/2025 08:34

I’m week 1 day 5 and loving it so far. I’ve not got massive suppression, but am finding it so much easier to not mindlessly snack. I weighed myself yesterday and had lost 1.6kg which I’m delighted with as I’ve been trying to do this sustainably (and modelling good eating for my daughter) by eating 3 proper meals and a snack or 2, just adjusting down portion sizes / increasing veg and protein. I’m aiming for at least 80g protein a day - so lots of tofu, high protein cheese, skyr, and eggs (I’m mixing liquid egg white into scrambled eggs / frittatas to up the protein content).

I’m still thinking about food a lot, but more in terms of planning what I can eat that fits in with my health goals rather than obsessing about where my next food hit is coming from. How have others experienced changes in food noise?

GeraniumRoseblush · 09/05/2025 08:43

Well done to everyone having good results their first week. It's very motivating to read 👊

Week 1 is done for me, 2nd jab today. 2lbs down which tracks with the calories I'm aiming for a day but the loss others are mentioning made me question for a split second what I've got wrong - and then I had a stern word with myself 😁

I've not had the type of suppression where I can only eat a small bit of food - mine is more I eat a meal and then that's it, I don't snack or want more. Which is great. And I haven't felt that effect wear off over the last few days which I'm happy about.

Side effects calmed down after the first few days but wondering if anyone has any suggestions for bloating?

SilkCottonTree · 09/05/2025 08:43

I did my first jab around 24 hours ago and by dinner time yesterday I was feeling some appetite supression. This morning I woke up with a slight headache, but no other side effects so far 🤞

Edited to add: in terms of telling anyone, only my friend whose discount code I used knows. I did tell DH that I was thinking of doing this, but haven’t explicitly told him I have started. I guess I want to wait and see if it works first :)

Gingefringe · 09/05/2025 08:52

Week one done, I took my second jab last night and didn't sleep very well. Overall though I have very little side effects and I'm very pleased with results as I've lost 5lb in first week.

SW 12st
TW 10st 7lb
CW 11st 9lb

I'm not thinking about food at all, although I'm still managing to eat my normal portion size at mealtimes and don't feel full or nauseous.

I'm also adding marine collagen powder to my morning porridge, taking multi-vitamins, and upping my skincare with facial/body oil to try to minimise any more wrinkles and sagginess.

I've found it really inspiring to read some of the other threads from the previous 'cohorts' to see where they are in their journey. There seem to be a lot of adjustments to the doses (is drawing 3.75mg on the 5mg pens then a fifth dose with syringe etc.,) so I may explore this further down the line.

Good luck fellow May starters.

GeraniumRoseblush · 09/05/2025 08:53

BluNavy · 30/04/2025 20:26

Really interesting to hear others thoughts.
I'm using my fitness pall and have set a target of 35% carbs 35% protein 30% fat and it's hard to achieve the protein.

@BluNavy I'm using My Fitness Pal and basing it on 35% carbs and fat and 30% protein. Very much focused on trying to hit the protein as I do weights 3x a week and don't want to lose my muscle mass. I may switch the protein and carbs around though, I'll keep an eye on it. I'm aiming for 500 cals under maintenance cals a day.

GeraniumRoseblush · 09/05/2025 09:10

@Shesellsseashellsh loving the liquid egg white idea - where do you buy that?

AlicesMum2025 · 09/05/2025 09:36

Week 1 done. 2nd jab last night.

I'm happy with my first week, losing 3.3kg ~7lbs. I haven't had many SEs; nausea and headache first few days but it didn't last. I have been a bit constipated but I started adding psyllium husk to protein shakes and that's got things moving. Definitely noticed that I was feeling hungry days 4-5 but 6-7 were ok which I found strange but 🤷‍♀️.

I'm not a big snacker, portion sizes are my main issue. I've found that although I still have an appetite, I have been feeling full quicker. I'd like more suppression but I'm hoping that will come as MJ builds up in my system.

I've been tracking food in Nutracheck and felt really in control, which isn't something I'm used to with food. I highly recommended the app and think it's worth the price. I have been trying not to eat my exercise calories as well as staying 500 in deficit.

That said, I'm prepared that I may not lose as much in week 2.

AlicesMum2025 · 09/05/2025 09:40

If anyone is thinking they are not losing enough, that other people are doing better than them, just remember that everyone's circumstances are different and we all have our own journeys, even though we share similar goals. Comparison is the thief of joy.

I'm not comfortable yet sharing my SW but I need to shed 50% of my body weight. In that context, my 3.3kg/7lb loss in week 1 may be less in percentage terms than someone that has less weight to lose. It's all relative.

LittleNoosh · 09/05/2025 09:41

Great to hear everyone’s positive experiences. I’m still struggling with side effects after starting yesterday.

Nausea and bad reflux overnight. DH hopped over to Sainsburys to get me some mint tea and gaviscon this morning so hopefully that will help, but I’m feeling a bit down after a hard night.

ElsieJay · 09/05/2025 10:26

Braved the scales this morning (eek!) so here are my starting stats :
F, 72 years
Height : 5ft 1.5inches
SW : 12st 6lbs
TW: 9st 12lbs

Dry mouth and a bit of a headache, but didn’t sleep well after getting up in the wee small hours to do my first injection. Resolved to up my water intake from today , so hopefully that will help .

LessWeightKate · 09/05/2025 10:28

I took my third dose today (I started right at the end of April) and I couldn't be happier to be out of the BMI obese zone!

I did have some brain fog and exhaustion last weekend, but the rest of the week was okay. Suppression stayed pretty much at the level where snacking didn't appeal but I could enjoy my actual meals.

I think the water weight loss must be over now, so I won't expect anything more than a pound a week going forward. If that's the case, I'll be at goal by September, when my kids are taking me to Greece!

I've never been there before. Never gone on holiday without feeling uncomfortable in a cossie. And I've never been so excited to get my kit off on a beach 😅

This drug really is quite something!

Week 2 Weigh-in:
5 ft 2.5
BMI 29.5
SW: 12 stone 4
CW: 11 stone 10
Total loss: 8lbs

AccidentalPrawnYouFool · 08/05/2025 22:13

Ah that’s annoying!! Where did you order from? X

From PillSorted. No update today so have emailed them to chase it up. Really wanted to start this weekend!
Stupid question...at what point during the month do people reorder? Do you have breaks or make sure you always have the next dose ready? Is there a certain amount of time you have to wait before ordering your next dose?

JantoDec · 09/05/2025 11:15

So far no side effects after 1st jab yesterday. Sure it must be the placebo effect so soon but felt no desire to snack yesterday afternoon/evening and not fancied eating so far today. Just coffee and water.

So far so good, if I could feel like this every day it would be amazing!!

SlippySausage · 09/05/2025 11:18

Morning! Second injection done! Weigh in results are confusing as I logged my starting weight with the scales sent by Juniper which are giving me erratic results! (I’m a daily weigher because my weight can fluctuate wildly from day to day so I look for trends not a single ‘weigh day’ number.). Going forward I’m just going to use my own scales but by Junipers scales I’m down three pounds and by my own scales I’m down six. Either way I’m happy!
So SW 12.08/12.10 CW 12.05/12.04 GW 9st 07

Leveluplou · 09/05/2025 11:33

Day 1 for me today, first jab was last night. I don't feel hungry but I'm eating some breakfast now as I've gone a bit shaky so I obviously need a bit of food! No side effects yet :)

Welcome to all the new joiners. So many posts I've not read them all yet!

@AlicesMum2025 - congrats on your weight loss this week! And thanks for the tip on psyllium husk as I've got some mild constipation / bloating. I keep eating kiwi fruit as I was assured that would move things but so far, nada 😅

@LessWeightKate woop to being out of the BMI obese zone! Losing 8lbs in 2 weeks is great progress! 👊 You and I seem to have pretty much the same stats - same weight and I'm half an inch taller.

MrsCreek · 09/05/2025 12:04

@ScotsLassie6my pen is arriving today! I plan on jabbing asap, husband will be home later. I am hoping for no bad reactions. I would like to tell him, but he has heard so many of my “diet plans” that I predict a load of eye rolling and “you just need to eat less” helpful comments.

stripesdotsdashes · 09/05/2025 12:27

TIP FOR NEWCOMERS! Don't forget to do your tape measurements!
Today is 2nd jab for me, and although I've only lost 1kg I've lost an inch off both my hips and lower abdomen.
As far as side effects go, I felt waves of nausea the first few days, but realised these coincided with not eating enough, so I've been mindful since to stick to 3 meals. Snacks have been totally cut out, unless I'm about to exercise and have a long gap before tea (I do a lot of exercise - 8-10 hours a week).
I weirdly had period pain yesterday even though Im 50 and on the mirena coil with no period in a year, really hoping that doesn't come back!

I saw a post just yesterday about new guidance for anyone on HRT/PROGESTERONE about bleeding! Not sure if that applies to you, but apparently it's a thing doctors received new advice about this week regarding WLI!

LessWeightKate · 09/05/2025 13:14

@GeraniumRoseblush I was surprised to see that raspberries have twice the fibre of kiwi and strawberries and more too per serving than the bran flakes I was struggling to eat!

They are on sale in Lidl this week, so I am making the most of them. Also, they taste better than I remember, which I think is the MJ working its taste buds magic 😅

Thank you for the tip! Just taken my measurements now as I’d forgotten to do it

whattodoforthebest2 · 09/05/2025 13:55

Can I join too? I ordered from Ashcroft Pharmacy yesterday lunchtime and my first pen arrived at noon today! It was approved in about half an hour! I’ve just done my jab, having decided that I’d get more stressed about it the longer I left it, so fingers crossed for no SE.

65
5’10”
CW 96kg
BMI 30ish

@LessWeightKate - I’d love to go to the beach and not feel embarrassed about my size. I’m planning all the slinky stuff I’ll be wearing this Summer. I’ll be a vision in white skinny jeans and mules! 😂

I don’t plan on telling my DH either, plan is to keep schtum as far as friends and family are concerned. Hope your pen arrives promptly so you can get started !
