Leveluplou · 29/04/2025 14:21

Couldn't see a thread for may but hoping I can find fellow starters to chat with. I've opted to go with SheMed and have just received my blood test kit through so should be starting within the next week or 2!

This was just what I needed to read after feeling disappointed when getting on the scale this morning, thank you 💐

I'm also seriously considering weighing again after I've done a great big poo 🤣 And I really have been drinking far more water than I've ever done before.

My advice, don't weigh again, however hefty the poop (sorry everyone!) what you are doing is working and it's a long game! Some weeks it will be half a lb some weeks nothing, some weeks maybe a little gain, but as long as you know the actions you are taking are correct, you are in a reasonable calorie deficit and are trying to move/walk/exercise regularly then the fat will go eventually! If after 4 weeks of no scale progress AT ALL (not just a bit less than you'd hoped) then you need to look at your energy in and out and make minor adjustments to make sure you are still in a deficit - that's all! It's a numbers game the mounjaro just helps us stick to the deficit!

It's about 3500 calorie deficit needed to lose 1lb a week. That's 500 cals a day under what you burn. What you burn is different for everyone. At the moment I burn roughly 2400 a day (if I get at least 8000 steps in). I eat around 1600 cals a day. That's 800 cals a day deficit or 5600 a week. So I should expect to lose about 1.3lb a week. If my suppression gets higher and I go down to 1400 cals a day I will have a deficit of 1000 a day or 7000 a week so can expect to lose around 2lbs a week. (I'm 192lb and 5ft 5 for reference)

People with massive losses beyond the first two weeks are either eating barely anything (not good in long run) or have a lot of fat to lose. For most people it is a long game of 1's and 2's and some 0's consistency is key! This is for life!

Hope that helps, it helps me be more logical when the scales piss me off!

I remember when I was on slimming world. Being sat in the loo desperately trying to poo before I went in.....i was 20 mins late 🤣

So here I am about 20 hrs post first jab. Only side effect so far is sore boobs bizarrely. I'm 57 and been on mirena and hrt for years so not something I've felt for years. Not the side effect I was expecting. Anyone else had similar?

SignedUpAgain · 08/05/2025 11:09

Completed one week, took second jab last night.

Weight off 2.8kg

Feeling pretty pleased with that. But not sure I'm drinking or eating enough.

Onwards and upwards

JantoDec · 08/05/2025 11:15

Hope it’s ok to join. Just took my first 2.5 injection 😬 Excited but a little nervous about side effects.
SW 11st 9lb
TW 9st 9lb

Im 42 and 5ft 4 with high cholesterol that needs to come down!

2 stone to go!

SilkCottonTree · 08/05/2025 11:32

Mine just arrived and I decided to just take it straightaway rather than waiting until the weekend as I had originally planned. Didn't even feel the needle going in.
SW is 91.5kg
GW is 70kg
I'm 166cm tall and have been slowly putting on weight over the past few years. I can lose quite easily, but then always give up after losing 5kg. I have been losing and regaining that 5kg for the past decade I would say, but each time I regain, I add a few more kilos on top of that. I had gestational diabetes, so I am terrified of getting type 2, hence finally deciding I need to try something new and accept I need some help in the form of Mounjaro.
I'm tracking calories on MyFitnessPal.
Good luck to us all!

Also tracking on mfp. In the past I’ve needed around 1200 calories to lose weight but really struggled with it. Will be interesting to see if it feels easier 🤞

I just took my second injection an hour ago. I’m so happy to be on this path to better health. Good luck to you!
I’ve lost around 2kg in the last week. So so excited

OnA17Mission · 08/05/2025 14:43

I’m absolutely gutted, Asda have just declined my order!
I was so looking forward to starting this.

Susan14 · 08/05/2025 14:46

Mounraine · 06/05/2025 18:48

And it's not all bad news. This is my progress so far:
F46 5ft 6.5
SW May 2024 14st
SW MJ April 2025 13st 2lb
CW MJ W5 12st 5lb
CGW 12st

So, I took my first injection at the start of April and then had to pause due to pretty bad side effects. Had a couple of jabs of 1mg and 1.25mg to build my confidence and then decided to try again in May. All-in-all I've lost 11lb in less than 5 weeks, including a couple of weeks at my usual plateau where nothing moved. To finally be below 12st 7lb is huge for me and what keeps me going through the side effects.

@Mounraine How did you limit the dose to 1mg? Congrats on your progress. Xx

I hear you! I'm due my 2nd jab tomorrow, had a great week of definite suppression, eating just main meals all healthy. I snuck on scales this morning (I want to try and only weigh weekly) and I've only lost 1kg. I have 10-12 to lose, so not a huge amount I guess, but haven't had the weight fall off. I feel slimmer, will do tape measurements tomorrow as another way of tracking, as I've done loads of exercise too.
I've noticed yesterday the effects wearing off, so seems day 5 onwards it weakens.

Don’t be too disheartened and def do waist measurements.

if you have increased your exercise and protein it could be that you are building muscle so the overall number on the scales won’t be reflective of your total fat loss. I have body composition scales which show a body fat % and muscle mass so should be able to see muscle gain.

Try to focus on how you feel and how your clothes feel. Taking photos each week can help you to see the difference as well.

LittleNoosh · 08/05/2025 15:01

My first pen arrived from Asda and I used it straight away. Well I say I used it but I had to get DH to inject me.

Im still feeling very proud of myself as I’m really scared of needles to the extent they I went lightheaded at the sight of it.

I’m hoping that alongside losing weight that I also start to get a little less needle phobic as I get used to it.

AlrightTrouble · 08/05/2025 16:10

@OnA17MissionWhat reason did they give for declining your order?

AlrightTrouble · 08/05/2025 16:10

@OnA17MissionWhat reason did they give for declining your order?

Medical history- teenage bulimia. Even though it’s not a problem now they said I’m not suitable for remote consult and should speak to gp… but the thing is, that’s what waiting for it to go on nhs and then a huge waiting list when I wanted to start next week :-(

Mounraine · 08/05/2025 16:53

W1D7 and taken my "second" jab. Because I'm using the pen up from my challenging first attempt last week, I only got a dose of 1.9mg. Not sure if that was the right thing to do. I suppose it was partly financial and partly still nervous about side effects and wanting to give my body a rest. I might take next week's jab early.

Official week's loss has come in at 2lb.

Mounjaronew · 08/05/2025 18:20

W1D5. Weirdest thing I find is that I have gone right off sweet things which isn’t like me. I bought some crisp breads and will have them with cream cheese and tomato if I need a snack. I had small small piece of fish with salad and home made dressing for dinner. Perfect. I am really hoping this is new habits forming. It feels that way.

I can't help thinking a slightly lower dose is a smart idea, given how responsive you have been so far to the medication!

I'm planning to go up to 3.75 when I get to the end of this pen for the same reason. I'm in no rush.

Mounraine · 08/05/2025 19:05

Thank you @LessWeightKate any reassurance is much appreciated!

I can't imagine going up any higher than a 2.5mg pen. But then it's not much fun, so part of thinks just get the weight lost as quickly as possible.

Mounraine · 08/05/2025 19:23

Could I have a bit of advice on transporting an unopened pen for up to 75 minutes outside of the fridge? Would it be ok to pack it in a cool box with ice packs and cold food?

Apprenante · 08/05/2025 19:30

Just done my second 2.5 dose.
Re-reading the instructions, much more calmly than last week, I now realise that when I primed the thing I squirted out a whole dose. Ggggrrrrrr. So now I've used up a total of 3 doses on 2 injections. What a waste of money. Should I a) get some needles and try to get the golden dose out as my 4th dose, or b) put up with the results of my own stupidity?

I was very against fiddling about for a golden dose but now ......🤔

LittleNoosh · 08/05/2025 20:20

Took first dose just after lunch today. Had bad reflux after a small dinner.

i know there’s no guarantee about how each person reacts but can anyone reassure me that their reflux got better over time?

I just need a bit of hope to hold onto.

AlrightTrouble · 08/05/2025 20:35

@OnA17MissionAhh that’s a pain. I can completely understand why they’ve done it from a risk management perspective on their end, but it’s disappointing for you when you’ve got your hopes up.

AccidentalPrawnYouFool · 07/05/2025 22:22

@U53rn8m3ch8ng3I am 5’2 (and a half!!) and was 12 stone 4 last week. I’m now 12 stone 1 - it has fallen off me. Hoping it continues! Fingers crossed for you

I'm 5ft2 and half technically too haha
I'm still waiting for my pen to be dispatched, says it's delayed 😡

Mounraine · 08/05/2025 21:11

@LittleNoosh i would treat the symptoms as quickly as possible. Eg pepto bismol or rennies for acid reflux. And avoid any suspect ingredients that may have caused it today.

AlrightTrouble · 08/05/2025 21:17

Today is the first day since I jabbed last Saturday evening that I’ve felt even the tiniest bit hungry and as such, it’s the most I’ve eaten on any day so far this week.

No breakfast, had a quinoa, sweet potato, red cabbage and hummus salad for lunch with a ginger shot and a protein bar. Dinner was homemade spag bol but I knew I was in danger when I reached for the garlic bread. 😅 Snack was a yoghurt and I’ve just finished up a leftover sweet chilli salmon fillet (which felt like a somewhat better option).

I’m roughly 350 calories over my TDEE daily amount to cut, so whilst I’m a bit cross with myself it’s my first week, I’m on a 2.5 dose, and I’m working out the kinks. Need FAR more protein!
