Couldn't see a thread for may but hoping I can find fellow starters to chat with. I've opted to go with SheMed and have just received my blood test kit through so should be starting within the next week or 2!

Phew, after 4 days of not feeling any different (I was even doubting I’d injected correctly), I’ve actually felt a low level of suppression.

I still feel physically hungry after not eating for a few hours and I’m eating 3 meals a day quite easily. What seems to have gone is the urge to snack. My usual craving for something sweet after a meal has disappeared and that was one of my main downfalls.

Although I’m not seeing the dramatic suppression that has happened to a lot of people, I’m hopeful that mine will increase as the levels build up in my body each week.

Stephenkingsbiggestfan · 08/05/2025 07:06

Week 1 done for me:

SW 13st 6lb
CW 12st 13lb

It’s been so easy. Only side effect is a bit of
constipation.

Did start to feel hungry again yesterday so ready for my jab today!

Dontopenthetrapdoor · 08/05/2025 07:17

Congratulations @Stephenkingsbiggestfan that's a good first week loss. I'm on day 6 and today is the first day I have woken up really hungry.

Hi hottubs - I'm type 2 on metformin, though I managed to bring my HB1C down to normal levels last year by being super strict and losing some lumber. But the weight has been creeping on again, and my BG has been steadily rising again. I wasn't prescribed MJ by the diabetes nurse, so am doing this on my own.

When I took the jab on Friday, I put on a Libre monitor to see what was going on. Within a couple of days of taking the jab my levels were really dropping and levelling out. My spikes after eating are loads better than they were before - I don't know if that's the MJ or the fact I'm eating less so there's less of a blood glucose reaction. The last couple of days I've been dropping quite low so I'm probably going to check in with the doc about whether I should cut out the metformin. Are you still going to be taking other diabetes meds alongside the MJ? I'm wondering what your nurse advised (so I don't have to ask mine, who is a super scary woman). Joking. Not joking.

My nurse is lovely totally on my wavelength but I did see another one last year who made me cry 😭 she was mean! I’ve said I won’t see her again! I’m not on any medication at the moment due to side effects from others I have tried and I definitely feel like my levels are not great. Good idea to use a libre do you get them from the doctor? They are super expensive aren’t they!

SussexLass87 · 08/05/2025 07:57

@AlrightTrouble That's amazing! M&S food hall is my absolute weakness (as well as fish n chips, tea, chocolate...😄) So WELL DONE for resisting. Amazing how MJ makes you just not fancy anything.

I'm okay - having very light meals & trying to walk lots. Beans on toast last night for dinner was flipping lovely and I was full after 1/3 of a tin!

@Stephenkingsbiggestfan Wow - congratulations on your loss. That's incredible ✨️

Sending good wishes to everyone 👏

Iggy35 · 08/05/2025 07:59

@Stephenkingsbiggestfan well done on your first week. Amazing loss.
Hope all goes well with your 2nd jab.
I'm doing mine tomorrow morning. Can't wait!.

My pen is here but my emetophobia has taken over and I just can’t bring myself to inject

Needsomeadvice2234 · 08/05/2025 08:06

Mounjaro newbie here- ordered through Superdrug and am picking it up today. Plan to start this Saturday with DH doing the injection because I'm a wimp. 78kg and 5'2 and cannot stop grazing. I'm worried about the side effects but really want this to help me get down to 60kg...

healthjourney · 08/05/2025 08:09

I've ordered my first pen, probably won't start it for a couple of weeks when I'm back from holiday but I wanted it to be waiting for me in the fridge when I get back. It's so helpful to hear everyone's experiences, thanks for sharing

😩 it’s so hard not knowing what side effects you might have but you might have none! I hear of more people feeling nauseous than actually being sick. Hugs x

Hi,

Ive just had my second dose. After my first dose last week, I’ve had almost total suppression for the full week. At times I’ve had to force myself to eat something, I’m recording my meals and I’ve struggled to hit 1100 calories a day. I’ve been eating clean & healthy. No snacks, nothing apart from water to drink. I’ve had no bread, lots of protein and veg / salad. The desire for something sweet has vanished - all I’ve had is one chocolate strawberry. I can feel - and see- a difference in myself, my work uniform is less restrictive for example. I am a lot less bloated, my face looks healthier. I have just weighed myself an I have lost a grand total of….. 3lbs. I am obviously a little disappointed but mostly confused - I don’t want to eat how I used to, the desire is gone which I’m so happy about! And I’m obviously pleased how well I feel. But 3lb in a week, after such drastic change in habits seems like such a small achievement :(

I hear you! I'm due my 2nd jab tomorrow, had a great week of definite suppression, eating just main meals all healthy. I snuck on scales this morning (I want to try and only weigh weekly) and I've only lost 1kg. I have 10-12 to lose, so not a huge amount I guess, but haven't had the weight fall off. I feel slimmer, will do tape measurements tomorrow as another way of tracking, as I've done loads of exercise too.
I've noticed yesterday the effects wearing off, so seems day 5 onwards it weakens.

Sorry you’re in the same boat as me but it’s nice to hear im not alone! I love all these success stories ive been reading on here but it made me wonder if I was the only one without a 7lb+ loss in the first week. Good idea, I think I’ll measure too and then at least I can get a better idea of how / if it’s working. Hopefully the longer it’s in our systems the more effective it will be :)

When I was in slimming world I gained 1lb in week one! But lost 6 the next week so it might just take a while to kick in!

Can I please ask a question?

My pen is arriving this afternoon and I’m going to use it when it does. But I’m super nervous (I’ve been known to faint at injections) and I think I’m overthinking it all.

I’ve watched a video about how to use the pen. It’s a bit overwhelming as it’s not an easy way for me to process information.

Can I just ask, do you prime the pen before each injection or just before the first use?

Thank you

Yes you do prime the pen for each injection. Not just the first.

I know it's hard, I've been there but if someone said to you 'I can make you look and feel amazing but the scale will always say 15st OR the scale will always say 9st but you'll look and feel like crap' which deal would you take?

The scales are just one form of measurement on your journey and they only measure weight not fat loss, you could have lost 5lb of fat and gained 2lb water weight or have a hefty poo waiting in you! Either way it doesn't matter and if the number on the scale affects you so much then just don't weigh at all!! So many people give up because of the scale number and it's such an innaccurate measure of progress on a week by week basis, especially for women with menstrual cycles!

Don't let it throw you off!

Kipperandarthur · 08/05/2025 09:37

To others that have lost 3lb in their first week. That's good.
I have lost 2 and 1/4 lbs week one.
Steady and slow is the best way forward with healthy habits and meal choices.

2lb a week over a year (give or take) is a significant amount and that's what I am aiming for.

I don't want suppression and to avoid eating as I simply don't think that's the way forward long term. It's about eating healthy choices and developing a better way of eating. If we suppress to the point of then not wanting to eat what happens further down the line?

I have noticed that on second jab the effect is strongest the few days after the jab and then gradually it kind of wears off.

Sia9 · 08/05/2025 10:27

Welcome to the new joiners !

Day 6 here. Nausea has completely gone now so that’s good. I did feel slight hunger when I woke up this morning but no urge to snack/overeat.

4lb weight loss. I know it will be mainly water weight, but I’m chuffed all the same.

TimeForTeaAndMe · 08/05/2025 10:39

Hi everyone, I am so glad I found this post 😁
Took my first job of 2.5.
2nd may.
Starting weight of 79.5 kg/ just over 12 stone I believe.
I've lost just over a pound this week. I am a little bit disappointed as I've been dieting for about 3 weeks and I thought that just by cutting out all that sugar I'd been consuming like an animal would have knocked slightly more off 🙈🤷🏻‍♀️

I bought myself a set of scales that have an app that covers just about everything from your weight. BMI, water, muscle mass and everything else in between, I'm drinking so much more water than I ever did before.

So far no side effects that I can tell. Thank God.
Unfortunately I have a disability which affects my spine so cardio is not something that I can freely do. I have however invested in a rowing machine and I'm hoping that I will be able to use this a bit on good days. It's lovely to be able to share And read other people's journeys as well as all the support on here. Good luck everyone! I hope it works out for all of us 🙏💐

Second job due tomorrow. I did start getting my appetite back yesterday but has dimmed a bit again today thankfully.

I used IQ doctor online as MedExpress was going to take weeks to come through due to their backlog. I had it within 3 days. Brilliant service.

This was just what I needed to read after feeling disappointed when getting on the scale this morning, thank you 💐

I'm also seriously considering weighing again after I've done a great big poo 🤣 And I really have been drinking far more water than I've ever done before.
