Couldn't see a thread for may but hoping I can find fellow starters to chat with. I've opted to go with SheMed and have just received my blood test kit through so should be starting within the next week or 2!

I’m doing okay, I think it’s day 5 for me (did my first jab Friday teatime). I’ve not had any more diarrhoea since I took Imodium on Sunday, I’ve actually not had any bowel movement at all since then!

I do still feel hungry and have a lot of food noise but I’m satisfied after eating just a small portion. Normally when I start a diet I get pissed off that everyone around me (I have three teen boys) has big portions and I have a teeny tiny calorie controlled portion but now I’m quite happy.

I’m nervous about taking the second dose Friday incase I get the side effects again

Mounraine · 07/05/2025 17:48

W1D6 and this afternoon I am feeling very, very hungry for the first time. So far I haven't minded the excuse to practise my willpower, but today for the first time I'm tempted with takeaway and chocolate. I wonder if it's because I'm due on my period?

Mine should be tomorrow, and I am too Flowers

Hysterectomynext · 07/05/2025 17:56

I’m so excited for everyone.

Today I saw a reflection of myself in a full length mirror. I was so shocked at my size. I’m so obese. I also started talking to the reflection because I didn’t know it was me - genuinely thought it was a stranger waiting for the bathroom. I don’t have mirrors at home and I don’t look at myself in reflections very often.

I’m on day 6 week 1 and I’m cautiously optimistic although I feel I need a miracle

SilkCottonTree · 07/05/2025 18:18

I was approved yesterday, so waiting for the pen to arrive. I am excited and nervous, I have 3 stone to lose to get into a healthy BMI. Love reading everyone's experiences this month so far :)

Hi everyone

I’m due to start this weekend. I’m T2 diabetic and having tried a few medications the nurse has now recommended Mounjaro. I do have about 4st to lose but I guess I need to focus on sorting my sugar levels (weight loss will be a bonus for me!)

Is there anyone here taking it for their diabetes? Interested to know how it’s been improving sugar levels. I eat pretty healthily and I’m hoping that the side effects won’t be too bad but I’m not sure there’s any rhyme or reason to it from everyone else’s experience!

Thanks for posting all your thoughts it’s really helpful 😁

Hi hottubs - I'm type 2 on metformin, though I managed to bring my HB1C down to normal levels last year by being super strict and losing some lumber. But the weight has been creeping on again, and my BG has been steadily rising again. I wasn't prescribed MJ by the diabetes nurse, so am doing this on my own.

When I took the jab on Friday, I put on a Libre monitor to see what was going on. Within a couple of days of taking the jab my levels were really dropping and levelling out. My spikes after eating are loads better than they were before - I don't know if that's the MJ or the fact I'm eating less so there's less of a blood glucose reaction. The last couple of days I've been dropping quite low so I'm probably going to check in with the doc about whether I should cut out the metformin. Are you still going to be taking other diabetes meds alongside the MJ? I'm wondering what your nurse advised (so I don't have to ask mine, who is a super scary woman). Joking. Not joking.

@SussexLass87I’m fascinated by the process. I’d never have said, prior to this, that I was someone who thought a great deal about food, but having that turned off I realise that I really did. My own eating is complicated by my childhood fear of being hungry and being made to clear my plate even when I was full, because we didn’t know when we might eat again, and so food has become a really emotional thing for me. This has just shut that all right down.

I hope that the MJ helps you - especially the emotional side of eating. Wishing you much strength, but also that it allows you some peace of mind. Hears to the food noise being quieted!

Day 5 here. Not too many side effects so far. Headaches for the first couple of days but that’s it really.
Overall I’ve had good suppression. I thought it was wearing off a bit yesterday as I ate breakfast and lunch with ease and I felt hungry in the afternoon but when it came to it I couldn’t face eating much of my dinner and this morning I still feel full so I feel like the suppression is high again now. Can it go up and down during the week? 🤔 There’s been no snacking or wanting to which is unheard of for me! I’ve been wanting to eat more healthy foods too, don’t fancy the usual junk at all.
So overall, so far, so good! Excited to see where this journey leads…

I'm the same - on Day 5 too - and thought the suppression was wearing off yesterday. I started craving wine and felt hungry, but then I completely forgot about the wine and got really full at dinner time. Today I'm back to not being hungry at all. It's weird. I was expecting it to be wearing off by now.

Hi,

I’m due to pick up my pen from boots tomorrow. I’m really scared as I have massive eemetophobia but I’ve got no other option I can’t say this unhealthy x

lissie123 · 07/05/2025 19:05

Just waiting for Dh to return from his cycling before I do my first injection. I am ridiculously nervous.

jp35 · 07/05/2025 19:11

This is day 5 for me. No side effects yet, not really felt hungry at all. Still forced myself to eat something. I got on the scales this morning, after being determined to only check weekly, and my weight had gone down from, just under 85kg to 80.6kg.

I’m feeling good, appetite feels satisfied, I’m not thinking about an extra food at all. I’m drinking plenty of water and having a few hot drinks throughout the day. I’ve had no alcohol, sugar or bread and I’m just sticking to healthy foods. I really hope I carry on like this 😀

GherkinsOnToast · 07/05/2025 19:37

I'm on day five - is anyone else totally parched? my skin is super dry and my lips are crispy, I'm not drinking less, just have no appetite for fizzy drinks and my water needs to be little and often.

I'm struggling with others expectations of my eating than my own right now . We went out for coffee earlier and was grilled by everyone for only having a small latte and not wanting a cinnamon bun. No-one knows I'm on MJ so I when I say I'm not in the mood no one believes me as my love of food and flavours is well known (cafe owners often ask me to try new recipes etc. when I pop in for coffee) Its really testing my tolerance for bloating and reflux! 😁

Good luck! I was honestly so surprised by the injection - I didn't feel it going in at all (a little bit of stinging at the site later though) and I've been pleasantly surprised by lack of negative side effects so far. Hopefully you'll experience the same

wantmorenow · 07/05/2025 19:46

Hi all. Finally able to join. Got pen today and took it straight away with help of DP. Am binge reading Food Noise by Jack Moseley to help me prepare and take my mind of it all. My BMI is relatively low and only just scraped into the qualifying number but my waist is over 40 inches and I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in one knee and both hips 2 weeks ago. I need to see if weight loss can preserve my mobility which is already going. Good luck everyone. 🤞

AlrightTrouble · 07/05/2025 20:23

@SussexLass87Well I’m at the end of D4 W1 and I wandered through M&S earlier with no idea what to eat, despite being surrounded by lots of yummy things that a week ago I’d have leapt on! Thanks for your kind words. How are you finding it so far?

lissie123 · 07/05/2025 20:41

Well I’ve done it. First injection done. I’m still alive so thats a plus!

wantmorenow · 07/05/2025 20:51

@lissie123 well done. You and me both started W1D1 today. Fingers crossed no side effects for us both. 🙏💯

ScotsLassie6 · 07/05/2025 10:20

So here goes. Did my first injection yesterday and woke up this morning with a terrible headache that took a good few hours to shift. I do suffer from caffeine withdraw and only had one coffee yesterday so that may have been the cause.

Decided to start as I felt like no matter what I was eating my weight was increasing rather than decreasing. Tracking calories and increasing exercise has helped me in the past to lose weight but over the last couple of years, it’s been a struggle, perhaps due to my age.

Age - 41
Height - 5ft 1
SW - 12st 6lb

I am nervous and very self conscious about starting this process so haven’t told anyone, including my husband. Wondering if I should?

We do on holiday in 7 weeks, so my intention is to take my Tuesday before we leave on the Thursday and then skip a dose while we are away and start again when we get back.

Having somewhere to read others stories, ups and downs has been reassuring this morning while I’ve been feeling a bit rubbish. Here’s to having more ups than downs and the weeks and months go on

Hi! I have been approved and am now waiting for my first pen. Excited and nervous, but like you ScotsLassie - I don’t plan on telling anyone. Not even my husband - not until it works. If it doesn’t he will never know! I’ve even ordered myself a tiny fridge to keep in my office Blush

U53rn8m3ch8ng3 · 07/05/2025 21:49

Ordered my first pen today, it's approved and awaiting delivery I'm so nervous but excited.
5ft2 and 12stone2 with pcos so I'm really hoping this helps.

@U53rn8m3ch8ng3I am 5’2 (and a half!!) and was 12 stone 4 last week. I’m now 12 stone 1 - it has fallen off me. Hoping it continues! Fingers crossed for you

Leveluplou · 07/05/2025 22:27

My pen arrived today, eek! Anxious and excited to start. I think Friday evening will be when I inject

@CaitlinRo not yet… but it’s still early days. I keep thinking I have ill effects- but I think it’s panic. I’ve put my Dh on watch to double check I’m still alive and healthy 😆

Goodluckeveryone · 07/05/2025 22:48

I took my first jab on Monday night, Tuesday felt a bit nauseous and slight headache and for some reason couldn’t sleep last night at all even though I was shattered!!
Today had a protein shake for brekkie and brought it up 10mins later! 😩 felt queasy all day - reminded me of being pregnant!
Been ok tonight. Let’s see what joys Day 3 brings tmrw 😂

tostaky · 08/05/2025 06:09
