Couldn't see a thread for may but hoping I can find fellow starters to chat with. I've opted to go with SheMed and have just received my blood test kit through so should be starting within the next week or 2!

@SussexLass87I’m fascinated by the process. I’d never have said, prior to this, that I was someone who thought a great deal about food, but having that turned off I realise that I really did. My own eating is complicated by my childhood fear of being hungry and being made to clear my plate even when I was full, because we didn’t know when we might eat again, and so food has become a really emotional thing for me. This has just shut that all right down.

Starlightstargazer · 06/05/2025 21:21

Sending solidarity to those of you who are suffering. I did see people suggesting nairns ginger biscuits and peppermint tea on another thread.
Day 3 here and my appetite suppression is definitely wearing off (already?!) and I’ve had to really struggle not to overeat.

GeraniumRoseblush · 06/05/2025 21:34

End of Day 5 for me. Commiserations to those of you suffering with some crappy side effects. Mine have been sulphur burps to the max (!), bit of nausea on Days 2 & 3 - but felt better after food - and a stonking headache today (which might be more likely linked to a 2-day work event I've been at). I'm tracking calories and macros as I really want to ensure I eat enough so that my metabolism doesn't slow too much - thank you @3wDavid for the reminder. I'm so glad I've found this thread for support.

Sia9 · 06/05/2025 21:36

Day 4 here and the nausea has gone, woo!

Still no hunger / appetite but food no longer made me feel like I was hungover/in first trimester Grin just ‘meh’

Had 2 meals (skipped breakfast) and only managed half a tuna sandwich for lunch, 1 digestive, and a very small portion of chilli (350cal) + 3 teas + 1.5l of water - really struggling to drink more water than this (I’ve literally gone from 0l!). Will increase slowly until I’m up to 2l.

Need to start planing a food diary which I stick to. Which is hard when you’re not thinking about food !

2lb loss, couldn’t resist weighing. I’ll be happy with 3/4lb for my first week.

Sorry to hear of those really suffering with side effects Flowers

IndieRocknRoll · 06/05/2025 21:48

Day 4 here and zero side effects. Wish I’d started earlier as they were the one thing that really put me off. I am at the lowish end of BMI with about 1.5-2st to lose and had convinced myself this would mean they’d be worse.
I’m not sure I have quite the level of suppression mentioned by some though. I don’t really feel hungry but find by lunchtime I’m ready to eat something. I’m sticking to 1200 calories a day but not having to force myself to eat - I could definitely eat more if I felt like it. Will be interesting to see how well the suppression continues as I feel like it could wear off over the next day or so.

Shesellsseashellsh · 06/05/2025 21:58

Hi all! I joined the April thread originally but didn’t end up injecting my first dose until yesterday so would love to join here instead.

I’ve got a lot to lose - c.35kg to reach BMI 25 and am so excited to finally be taking control. My appetite and food noise went wild after having my most recent baby.

Day 1 has been good. I’ve avoided mindlessly snacking with minimal effort. I’ve still got an appetite, but definitely felt fuller more rapidly (possibly due to feeling so attuned to hunger signals). I’ve had a nagging headache, but I think that’s due to going to a swim and cricking my neck doing breast stroke rather than MJ.

Tomorrow I need to work out my plan for supplements and meal plan for the pinch points of the week.

Leveluplou · 06/05/2025 22:54

Welcome to all the new joiners. Good luck to those injecting soon. I've been approved by SheMed so I'll be starting this week I hope! Just waiting for my first dose to arrive.

Woke up this morning after injecting yesterday- haven’t had a great sleep at all but nothing new for me in all honestly, feel a bit sickly this morning but again when I don’t sleep well I often feel like that so who knows! Fingers crossed il perk up as the day goes on . Hope everyone else is feeling better!

hottubsundays · 07/05/2025 07:36

Hi everyone

I’m due to start this weekend. I’m T2 diabetic and having tried a few medications the nurse has now recommended Mounjaro. I do have about 4st to lose but I guess I need to focus on sorting my sugar levels (weight loss will be a bonus for me!)

Is there anyone here taking it for their diabetes? Interested to know how it’s been improving sugar levels. I eat pretty healthily and I’m hoping that the side effects won’t be too bad but I’m not sure there’s any rhyme or reason to it from everyone else’s experience!

Thanks for posting all your thoughts it’s really helpful 😁

PumpKim · 07/05/2025 07:52

Morning all, I'm new to this thread, I've been on the late April starters but most are a week or so ahead of me.
I'm due my second jab tonight. Luckily no real side effects to speak of. Was a bit bloated yesterday but that's normal for me when I up my fruit and veg intake.
Enough suppression to stop me overeating but I can still manage my meals.
So far so good, fingers crossed I stay lucky with this next jab 🤞

So yesterday I got the munchies but made good choices and had good old cucumber it did feel like it was wearing off but I’ve woke up this morning still full from dinner 12 hours ago and it feels horrible, I need to go out today and now I’m terrified I’m either going to be sick or crap myself 😅 I did a sneaky mid week weigh in and I’m 3lb down!

Peachblossom25 · 07/05/2025 08:00

Day 5 here. Not too many side effects so far. Headaches for the first couple of days but that’s it really.
Overall I’ve had good suppression. I thought it was wearing off a bit yesterday as I ate breakfast and lunch with ease and I felt hungry in the afternoon but when it came to it I couldn’t face eating much of my dinner and this morning I still feel full so I feel like the suppression is high again now. Can it go up and down during the week? 🤔 There’s been no snacking or wanting to which is unheard of for me! I’ve been wanting to eat more healthy foods too, don’t fancy the usual junk at all.
So overall, so far, so good! Excited to see where this journey leads…

Coffeeandallthebooks · 07/05/2025 08:09

Good morning everyone!
I did my 2nd jab last night and feel OK, have swapped a coffee for mint tea this morning as I had nausea and vomited day 2 first week so want to be as sensible as possible for the first 2 days this time.
I lost 4lbs in my first week!
I'm very pleased as have been dieting since January and lost a stone, so MJ definitely makes a difference.

My order is on its way. Not bad. Seeing as I only made the order on Sunday afternoon. I won’t be starting for another week though as we’re going to be away for the weekend and I am also due on very soon. I suffer with extremely bad period pain with nausea etc. so don’t want to make it worse initially. Hopefully weight loss will also help this in the long term.

I get really bad pp too I’m hoping that losing some weight will make it less painful. Sounds like the right decision to hold off until you are ready. I have a seriously busy weekend so waiting for Sunday night I can’t afford to feel anything other than ‘normal’ at the moment!

BluNavy · 07/05/2025 08:58

I've officially weighed for my first week and lost 4kg. Really happy about that. I'm throwing myself into this during May before I start a new job in June and hopefully will have started some good habits to keep up momentum.

Taking second dose shortly.

On balance it's been a positive week. I'm really hoping to keep this mindset as the weeks go on.

I have three restaurant outings in the next 10 days which has me nervous. Already looked at the menus so hoping it won't have a negative impact.

Thanks for this thread. I've been reading every day and it's keeping me motivated.

keeponplodding7 · 07/05/2025 09:43

Morning - first day done. Slept quite badly. Lots of dreams and was a bit sweaty but that could be hormonal. Had my two coffees this morning. I don’t normally eat breakfast so not sure how I feel yet!!!

ScotsLassie6 · 07/05/2025 10:20

So here goes. Did my first injection yesterday and woke up this morning with a terrible headache that took a good few hours to shift. I do suffer from caffeine withdraw and only had one coffee yesterday so that may have been the cause.

Decided to start as I felt like no matter what I was eating my weight was increasing rather than decreasing. Tracking calories and increasing exercise has helped me in the past to lose weight but over the last couple of years, it’s been a struggle, perhaps due to my age.

Age - 41
Height - 5ft 1
SW - 12st 6lb

I am nervous and very self conscious about starting this process so haven’t told anyone, including my husband. Wondering if I should?

We do on holiday in 7 weeks, so my intention is to take my Tuesday before we leave on the Thursday and then skip a dose while we are away and start again when we get back.

Having somewhere to read others stories, ups and downs has been reassuring this morning while I’ve been feeling a bit rubbish. Here’s to having more ups than downs and the weeks and months go on

Weightlossprincess · 07/05/2025 10:56

Hello, thought I'd join you.
After being on the waiting list for over a year and being told there was no funding, ive ordered from medexpress.
Need to loose about half of my total body weight, so a huge challenge.
Have just had notification that the prescription has gone through, so hoping to recieve it by the weekend .

I'll put my stats up the day I start as my weight changes daily..

sunshinesandringham · 07/05/2025 11:41

considering I only had my first jab yesterday , I’m finding I have no hunger whatsoever , I’d normally have a few cups of coffee and biscuits with them throughout the morning whereas I’ve just had to force myself to eat a chicken salad wrap before I start work. Not sure if it can already be the drug in action or just a mental thing knowing that I’ve taken it? No craving for sugary snacks at all , it’s really bizzare in a great way!

SussexLass87 · 07/05/2025 12:29

Just made my first "new me" purchase and it's a thermal vest as I'm so flipping cold! 😄 Not grumbling at all, but it made me laugh as I'd thought I'd be buying something new and fun.

Day 5 and its really helped my intermittent fasting and those sugar cravings.

Just did more weights and longer on the X-trainer at the gym than I've managed before which felt brill.

I've been reading some of the older MJ threads and they've been really inspiring, plus full of good advice!

keeponplodding7 · 07/05/2025 12:38

It’s lunchtime day 2 and I’m not hungry but about to make my standard chicken salad……very odd! I have 2 stone to lose but am only 5ft 1 so it’s very noticeable on me. My bmi is 30.

Apprenante · 07/05/2025 14:18

@BluNavy about eating in restaurants - I'm on Wk 1 day5 and have had really good appetite suppression. Last night ate in a restaurant and had melon and prosciutto then a chicken breast in a sauce. I had to give up after eating the carrots, which would be unheard of for me. The restaurant kindly put the rest of the meal in a doggy bag. So - good luck!

BluNavy · 07/05/2025 15:09

Thanks @Apprenante
