Couldn't see a thread for may but hoping I can find fellow starters to chat with. I've opted to go with SheMed and have just received my blood test kit through so should be starting within the next week or 2!

Hiya. First jab was Friday. Was fine all day until last night. Bloody hell. Woke up around midnight feeling nauseous and stupidly dizzy. Made it to the loo not knowing which end to aim at the loo….far tmi….sorry!

Made the right choice with two episodes of diarrheoa. Not overly watery but gross. Had to lay on the cool bathroom floor for 20mins until it passed.

Woke up feeling ok this morning had a very plain brekkie. Had another bout of much more fluid poop but not the nausea/dizziness. I can handle the runs but if the dizziness/nausea is a regular thing I don’t think I’ll be able to stick with MJ. It makes me feel so panicky, honestly like I am going to pass out - anyone know why? I am not a panicky person at all!

Have lost 3.6lbs so far…couldn’t resist weighing myself

I feel dizzy and worried a lot too. No diarrhoea but I vomited a bit in my sleep on second night and feel very nauseous today. Terrible insomnia. Worst ever.

BrienneMonroe · 06/05/2025 15:04

@Hysterectomynext So frustrating. I really want/need this to work. Will see how the rest of the week goes and possibly try the 2nd jab on Friday. Will be so disappointed if I have to stop.

To add, I had my gallbladder removed 10+yrs ago so can have a bit of an upset tummy at times. Possibly had too much fat over the 3day period.

Get some rest and I hope it passes soon

Hysterectomynext · 06/05/2025 15:21

@BrienneMonroe thank you. I had major surgery quite recently and I’ve been very unwell. I’ve also been in this obese state for 5 years and I’m now 60. I’m hoping I can get my life back. My Bluetooth scales tell me the age of my body and it says 70 years old. I have young children. I’m in a desperate state to be honest. Stresses galore. Good luck to you too

SignedUpAgain · 06/05/2025 15:32

I'm on week one, day 6
Have had quite a few days of nausea, which means I don't feel like eating, so a bit worried I haven't eaten enough.

Also felt unusually tired which is unusual for me. Maybe that will go away.

Have only told my DH and DC who are early 20s. Can't decide if I can tell a friend yet, kind of waiting to see if there is any results in a month. I suppose I'm worried this will not work for me.

I'll be the only person it doesn't work for.

SignedUpAgain · 06/05/2025 15:34

@BrienneMonroe I had my gallbladder out in March!
I'm also a bit worried how this will all work out, based on the lack of it.

Had one night when I woke with such awful cramps like you describe about 4 hours after eating.

But nothing too bad since. And on day 6

Early days. So want this to work.

BrienneMonroe · 06/05/2025 15:39

@SignedUpAgain it was a very similar feeling to pre-surgery, that urge to rush to the bathroom as something very unpleasant is coming.

Will definitely keep an eye on fat levels going forward. Feel absolutely fine today, except for the one bout of runny stools. Fingers crossed you’ll be absolutely fine and your best self in no time at all (with zero side effects!)

Mounraine · 06/05/2025 15:43

He told me that even though I'm not diabetic, this medication does something to our levels that might clash with fasting. He saw me being quite low and shaky one morning and suggested a few gulps of OJ first thing would help.
I almost instantly felt so much better, but I understand that you might want to keep fasting!

I've pretty much stopped fasting beyond 14 hours TRE (and an OMAD on D2 when suppression was high). This is because I daren't "feast" in case my nausea turns to vomiting. Good to hear I might be on the right track.
Also, I've hugely reduced the amount of sugar I eat because I just can't face it. I did wonder if that's messing my body up somewhat, just because it was a massive change.

Mounraine · 06/05/2025 15:47

Sorry to hear about others suffering from nausea, dizziness and toilet troubles. It's not fun :(
I have tried anti-sickness meds, travel sickness meds etc. and they haven't helped. All that helps is sitting very still, which obviously isn't always possible. Even lying in bed leaves me feeling terrible and seasick.
The only advice I've read is to keep your diet bland - no caffeine, spicy, sugary, fatty food or bubbles. I've pretty much stuck to that apart from the odd Pepsi Max and homemade curry, because we eat curry almost every day.

Mounraine · 06/05/2025 15:50

In terms of collagen and protein powder, I personally try to minimise UPFS. So, I am aiming to get my protein from foods that don't bring the damage of UPF but the benefits of whole foods - oily fish, eggs, fish and lean meat, beans and lentils, seeds, Greek Yogurt etc.
I have compromised though and am trying collagen powder because I'm concerned about hair-loss. The science isn't massively convincing, but I was convinced enough to try it. My hairdresser reckons it takes 3 months to take effect (and of course you have to keep eating it).

I sometimes get vestibular migraines which sounds similar to what you describe. I don’t have a headache but I feel a heaviness at the back of my head and like the world is spinning even if I am lying down. I wonder if some painkillers might help?

Mounraine · 06/05/2025 16:25

(Apologies to anyone getting bored of me discussing this, it might not even be Mounjaro-related). @Dontopenthetrapdoor thank you, that sounds like what I've had from a quick google, only it's been consistent for four full weeks solid now. Possibly less vertigo and more dizziness/nausea. I'll add this suggestion to my next appointment.

Day 4 for me and I feel like I am thinking about food more today 😩

Day 4 for me and I feel like I am thinking about food more today 😩

I did notice that the effect wore off as the week went by. Yesterday day 6 especially.

LittleNoosh · 06/05/2025 17:28

Sorry to hear about people struggling. My first pen is being delivered Wednesday. Im so worried that I’ll get similar side effects. I need the help to lose weight so much.

Mounjaronew · 06/05/2025 17:29

day 2/3. Had small bowl of porridge and grapes in morning and then I ran 5 Km (quite tough hilly) and swam in sea. Had no appetite at all all day. Usually head for shop-bought unhealthy sandwich at lunch but no notion at all. Forced myself to have small salad and salmon fillet for dinner. So far so good!

SlippySausage · 06/05/2025 17:49

Day 5 here. The effects are starting to wear off. For the first time since I injected on Friday, I am tempted to have a glass of wine. Normally, I'm a bit of a boozer, so the loss of cravings has been great. Just need to rely on will-power tonight!! Sorry to those who are having bad SE.

OnA17Mission · 06/05/2025 18:17

@sunshinesandringham I ordered multi vit from Holland and Barrett as was 3 for 2. And I’ve ordered vegan collagen powder (Rheal) and protein powder (protein works). Just from some things I had read, and if I don’t have an appetite some days maybe having a Protein shake to sip on during the morning would be ideal?

SussexLass87 · 06/05/2025 18:19

Just checking in - sending well wishes to those struggling with the SE.

Day 4 for me (injected on Sat) and really having to force food down. It's made me realise how much I thoughtlessly grazed or snacked which has been a shock.

My weakness is crisps, I absolutely adore them. Snuck one earlier and it was horrible! I gave up sugar about two weeks ago and haven't drunk booze in 8 years but horrified to I'm going off (decaf) tea!? Don't know what I'll do without my cuppa 😄

My advice is see how you get on, but do not compromise your journey to health and wellness for a holiday. Yes, you absolutely want to be able to enjoy yourself, but not at the cost of your health and progress.

I had an all inclusive holiday booked exactly 3 weeks after I first started, it did not cross my mind not to take my dose while away, so I did as usual. I ended up feeling great, I had almost this superior feeling for being and feeling so in control of my eating and drinking. I enjoyed everything but within reason and had prepared for a week of maintaining but to my surprise I came back and had lost weight! Absolutely unheard of for me while on vacation.
I just made sure that the breakfast mirrored what I had at home (coffee, fruits, yog or eggs); lunch was relatively light (seafood, soups, salads); I had ice cream in the afternoon every single day; and then was more lax at dinner- always a cocktail or wine, pasta, pizza or whatever I fancied and a taste of the desserts.

Thank you! Just what I needed to hear. 💖

Moneyordream · 06/05/2025 18:25

My pen arrived today going to take my first dose on Saturday. I am so excited to start, I can deal with sickness etc if it helps curb this constantly food noise. I just graved like hell today for no reason and it's only after seeing the wrappers I realised. I am going on my first holiday abroad next summer and want to actually wear some nice clothes not large baggy figure hiding ones

Mounraine · 06/05/2025 18:48

And it's not all bad news. This is my progress so far:
F46 5ft 6.5
SW May 2024 14st
SW MJ April 2025 13st 2lb
CW MJ W5 12st 5lb
CGW 12st

So, I took my first injection at the start of April and then had to pause due to pretty bad side effects. Had a couple of jabs of 1mg and 1.25mg to build my confidence and then decided to try again in May. All-in-all I've lost 11lb in less than 5 weeks, including a couple of weeks at my usual plateau where nothing moved. To finally be below 12st 7lb is huge for me and what keeps me going through the side effects.

That’s what I’m planning to do. Just to keep trying various systems to help myself.

also I hope I haven’t put anyone off this treatment because I was talking about some quite severe side effects but truly not to put a damper on things. I was just wanting the solidarity and camaraderie. I am still extremely hopeful and excited about this new hope for my health and my life.

AlrightTrouble · 06/05/2025 19:13

@SussexLass87I’m exactly the same, injected on Saturday. I’ve not found anything I can’t eat but I’m not snacking, and the food I do eat, I’m not really into it, if you know what I mean? DC wanted a McDs earlier so we sat in, but I opted for a wrap and left my fries, which is absolutely unheard of for me. 😅

@Hysterectomynext I don’t think you will have put anyone off-
certainly not me.

it’s interesting to hear everyone’s experience, and you’re right- I’m sure we are all here to share in this and have some support

Same here! The DC had fish and chips by the sea this weekend which is my absolute favourite thing and my DH was very amused to see me eat 4 chips then not want anything else.

Think it's got him thinking about starting MJ himself now.
