Couldn't see a thread for may but hoping I can find fellow starters to chat with. I've opted to go with SheMed and have just received my blood test kit through so should be starting within the next week or 2!

D4 and I feel dreadful - nauseous, dizzy and just generally like I'm coming down with the 'flu. Difficult to know what is the exact cause, but I'm starting to think I'll have to give up on the MJ as this is my second attempt.

Oh this is rubbish - I'm sorry. Did you have the same side effects last time?

CatG021024 · 05/05/2025 10:09

So first weigh in before 2nd injection later, 9.5lns lost X

Sorry that should say 9.5lbs*

Starting to think ahead to ordering the next injection pen, as I don’t want to risk a gap with delivery times etc.

I was really hoping to try other companies to take advantage of first time customer offers ( to keep the cost as low as possible). When the weight starts to drop, and BMI reduces, is there a risk of being rejected or do companies accept you are on an ongoing weight loss journey when you show proof of your last order (from a different supplier)?

Incredible! You must feel so motivated. How are your side effects, if any?

Sorry to read this. I spent all of yesterday flat on my back with exhaustion but woke up fine, so maybe see what tomorrow brings. Really feel for you.

Mounraine · 05/05/2025 10:41

Thank you @SussexLass87 and @LessWeightKate . Yes, same symptoms as before and now you mention it I slept a lot yesterday.

I had a full, uncomfortable feeling initially. I had a evening with sulphur burps but that didn't last. I've had some heart burn and I've struggled to eat. But that waned by day 4/5 and I've eaten more and felt more like myself towards the end of the week but eaten less and not constantly thinking about food.

Lonestar1988 · 05/05/2025 11:02

@CatG021024 well done that’s amazing! Such a great boost. I think I am slightly less bothered by food now on day 3!

So that’s my first full day over and done with and I’m so hungry. I’ve had no side effects but also no suppression. I feel exactly the same as I did before taking it. What am I doing wrong!

I’ve been drinking lots of water and trying to eat healthily with more protein. Yesterday I had:

scrambled egg & wholemeal toast
chicken salad in wholemeal pitta (I even ate the extra chicken I’d put aside for tomorrow as I was still hungry an hour after lunch)
chicken pie, spinach, peas & potato

I might be expecting too much too soon but so many people have said that their suppression kicked in a few hours after the first jab. I wonder if I’ll have to put up with no suppression for the first 4 weeks and then it might start working when I increase the dose next time round. May is going to be tough!

Stick with it. I was exactly the same.

Saturday, day 4 after my first injection, I realized it had reached 7.30pm and I had only eaten a banana at breakfast time,😲 and I had to force myself to eat my dinner (and I only managed half of it).
Since then I've had no food noise, that I've noticed, and am feeling satisfied after 3 small meals per day with no snacks....unheard of for me!
Good luck!

Hello, after reading so many inspirational stories here, I just booked my online appointment and hope to join you all next week. My BMI hit 30 a couple of months ago-I was horrified to see the scales tip 80kg (I'm only 163cm). A couple of months of dieting and I managed to get to 76 kgs but have suddenly put almost all of it back on again and now have a BMI 29.5 so Ive bitten the bullet and just admitted that it is unlikely I can do this without some help. I do apparently carry my weight well, despite now almost being officially obese by NHS standards, so am worried I won't get approved because of photos. I used Assure Pharmacy and couldn't get a phone call until 9th. I wondered if anyone else has been in a similar situation with photos?

GoldieLookingBoots · 05/05/2025 14:49

I’ve just been asked to upload a better picture for MedExpress, tbh I think it’s a delaying tactic because they’re overwhelmed with orders. But off I go to change into some figure hugging clothing. Lol, I don’t own any because I’ve been living in tents for the last 20 years!

Mounraine · 05/05/2025 16:31

I slept for about two hours and feel much better. At the moment I'm thinking to grit my teeth with the dizziness, nausea and tiredness and just focus for the sake of a few months that I can lose this weight. But I'll take it a pen at a time.

@Labellenoir I was just over BMI 30 when I started (2lb over I think) and my photo was accepted no problem. Think I was in leggings and t-shirt and not my worse look.

Anonymousmember25 · 05/05/2025 16:36

Hoping to join you all. Very nervous but this can't go on. Although desperate, already know I need to change my mindset as I am sitting here wondering if I can skip weeks say for holiday as I've booked all inclusive and have an awful mindset of I've paid for it so I'm gonna eat and drink it.

17 st 5 so a long way to go. Will be having my first does next Sunday as I'm away for the weekend....

I'm sorry you're feeling so bad. Have you ever gone on a keto diet? I ask because some of those symptoms sound like 'keto flu'. If you have eliminated carbs from your diet, or reduced them drastically, you may have gone into ketosis, which can make you feel awful. I haven't started MJ yet obviously, so I may be talking rubbish. I have done Keto diets though, and it feels pretty awful for a while.

Mounraine · 05/05/2025 18:00

@Labellenoir I haven't done keto, and I do eat small portions of rice or a wrap most days. However, your comment made me think that this is very similar to how I felt after a gym session when I first started weight-lifting. That was also a 'flu-y feeling and I did a small session yesterday. Nothing that would have fazed me pre-MJ, but could be a factor.
One of the biggest changes since my first jab (and getting really ill) a month ago is that I haven't touched refined sugar once. Before this I was regularly eating a packet of biscuits or chocolate bar (or both) every single day. When I was really ill my blood sugar was checked and it was fine though.

Thank you for your post, it's encouraged me to try to stick with this a bit longer and hope the SEs diminish.

My advice is see how you get on, but do not compromise your journey to health and wellness for a holiday. Yes, you absolutely want to be able to enjoy yourself, but not at the cost of your health and progress.

I had an all inclusive holiday booked exactly 3 weeks after I first started, it did not cross my mind not to take my dose while away, so I did as usual. I ended up feeling great, I had almost this superior feeling for being and feeling so in control of my eating and drinking. I enjoyed everything but within reason and had prepared for a week of maintaining but to my surprise I came back and had lost weight! Absolutely unheard of for me while on vacation.
I just made sure that the breakfast mirrored what I had at home (coffee, fruits, yog or eggs); lunch was relatively light (seafood, soups, salads); I had ice cream in the afternoon every single day; and then was more lax at dinner- always a cocktail or wine, pasta, pizza or whatever I fancied and a taste of the desserts.

AccidentalPrawnYouFool · 05/05/2025 19:25

I had some trouble sleeping last night, not sure if MJ related or just a coincidence. I do feel like the supression has kicked in, I’ve eaten two small meals today and feel stuffed. I’m hopeful this will work. No side effects so far but this is only day 2!

I had this too. First pic was a selfie in the mirror. Second one was accepted I got someone else to take it. It was shipped really quickly though. I did chase them up to check they’d got the second pic on the online query form.

AlrightTrouble · 05/05/2025 20:56

End of day 2 for me and I have to say, I’m quite impressed. I’m only on 2.5mg but no side effects so far, and I’ve no desire to eat at all really. I’m sticking to regular meal times with DC but the constant desire to snack has just…gone. Even when I have been eating, there’s no bright warm fuzzy bit of my brain melting into the feeling of food, it’s all a bit dispassionate - fuel, that I can take or leave. Really fascinating from an objective point of view.

I'm the same...had a lovely, homemade bbq earlier and it was nice but "meh". Whereas usually I'd be tucking in and loving every mouthful. Like you say - really interesting.

AlrightTrouble · 05/05/2025 21:08

@SussexLass87Tonight, ordinarily, I’d have succumbed by now to a bar of chocolate or some kind of snack (crackers and chorizo is a firm fave!) but I’ve no desire to do it.

Lovecycling · 05/05/2025 21:38

@3wDavid thanks for your inspiring posts! Can I ask what calorie deficit you had and how long you stayed on 2.5mg and 5mg? Thanks.

@Mounraine I felt like that when I did fast 800, it was awful. I wonder if you would feel better if you upped your food? Are you tracking macros?

Ive had a good day 4. I feel a little less suppression but no urge to overeat and even went to my strength training class when I had already decided I would miss this week in case it was all too much.

AlicesMum2025 · 05/05/2025 22:31

End of day 4 and I felt hungry this evening.

The past few days I couldn't decide if I felt nauseous or hungry 🤣 but I didn't have an appetite. I ate when it was time to, but if I opened the fridge I didn't get that 🤩 look when I saw what was in there. Does that make sense? (Is that what food noise is?)

Have had a headache off and on but that is as likely due to no caffeine than MJ. I don't drink tea or coffee so I'm going cold turkey from Pepsi Max!

Only other SE so far has been a constipation but I added a fibre supplement to my smoothie this morning and it was successful 😁

But dinnertime couldn't come soon enough today. I ended up taking the dog for an extra walk to distract myself 🐕‍🦺.

Hopefully the next few days will be busy at work so I can make it through to 2nd jab day on Thursday without too much difficulty 🤞

SlipperyLizard · 05/05/2025 22:52

I’ve just done my first injection, I got the pen on Saturday but I’m away next weekend and didn’t want the hassle of taking the pen/disposing of the sharp so waited until today.

Was v nervous about doing it but actually it was fine & next week will be a doddle.

I’ve been reading through my Fast 800 recipe book as they tend to be high in protein which I’m keen to get on top of as I weight train 2/3 times a week and am generally quite active.

I’m hoping it just gives me the willpower I need to ignore the snacks and focus on decent meals/ proper portion sizes. Fingers crossed!
