Please could you say what the reported side effect is please ? There is no way to see what you replied to?

Unexpected periods.

Women on the implant, or who are post-menopausal, who randomly get a period when starting MJ.

End of week 7 for me and another 3lb loss has taken me comfortably into the 12stone bracket. I’ve just come on my period so not expecting to lose much, if anything, this coming week.

Start 200 lbs
Wk 1 - 7lb
Wk 2 - 3lb
Wk 3 - 1.5lb
Wk 4 - 1lb
Wk 5 - 1.25lb
Wk 6 - 3lb.
Wk 7 - 3.25lb - 180lbs 😃

and my BMI a .1 away from moving into the overweight instead of obese category!

I have stayed on 2.5mg and it’s working for me, I can still eat but eating less than I used to. I’m eating lunch and dinner everyday, occasionally I’ll have breakfast/a piece of fruit.

I am tracking calories & didn’t realise how much I was overeating with small snacks and treats, I won’t track forever but I’m trying to get into good eating habits.

Incognitoburrito88 · 16/05/2025 07:06

Wk 7 D1

SW: 13st 7
CW: 12st 5
GW: 9st 13

wk 1-3: -8
wk 4: -4
wk 5: -1
wk6: -3

Yay! Jab day today and after refusing to move all wk the scales were down 2lbs for a 3lb loss this week! Feeling really pleased. Got an interesting weekend - I’m off to Manchester to run a 10k - staying with a friend and not sure what food options will be like but not too worried as suppression is usually pretty high for me on a Saturday so I’ll just make the best choices I can.

was going to write more but the toddler just got up!!

QS90 · 16/05/2025 07:45

On a side note @Incognitoburrito88 I'm so envious how late your toddler was up 😂 Ours rose 5:15am today (although I didn't get up!)

W6D1 Had my first 5mg jab last night before bed. Fingers crossed for not too many side effects.
Nearly 1 stone down but keep losing and putting the same 1lbs back on which is frustrating!
On a positive though, I have not had any craving for chocolate at all. Not had any since I started which is really good. I have also lost all interest in alcohol. Not that I drank muc, but I am really not interested at all. Just drink water, coffee and the occasional glass of kefir.
I do find it hard to meal plan dinners. I am often not very hungry but as I have an anorexic child I need to eat a full plate.

I have an anorexic child too. I tend to eat very small meals during the day when she’s at school and I’m at work and then do my best to eat the family dinner - it’s tough though. If I’m serving up I often give myself less carb and we’ve been working with her psychologist on the fact that not everyone at the table will eat the same size of portion but she does still comment if she sees I’ve got less than her. Sending sympathy - it’s really tough.

@QS90 In fairness she’s 4 in June so I suppose not a real toddler any more. I just don’t understand why on her nursery days I have to prise her out of bed at 7:30 but on my days off she’s up at 6:45!! But I’ll take that over the 5 am starts!

DrMonjo · 16/05/2025 09:10

I'm finding meal planning, shopping and cooking for the family really hard. When the suppression is strong I'm almost revolted by food. Feels like morning sickness ina menopausal body.
I look in the fridge and just don't want to see any of it.
I think my weight gain has not been because of food noise but due to food responsibility combined with periods of poor sleep.
I'm still in charge of 'food' of whether the cereals are stockpiled on special offer, do we have crisps, is there ice-cream. Does a home coming uni student get a fully stocked snack selection of chips and dips. I never applied for this job and I now feel physically revolted by it.

MJafterWLS · 16/05/2025 09:20

My week 6 weigh day today - only half a pound off this week! I knew last week’s big loss would catch up to me 😅 Also had my period this week so have been mega bloated all week.

Jabbing later, going to stick to 3.75mg as still having good suppression and minimal side effects.

SW: 15st 8.6lbs
CW: 13st 11.8lbs

Total loss: 24.8lbs

I was the same just before I increased to 5mg - kept losing a lb, then gaining a lb. Since taking 5mg (2nd one yesterday) I seem to be losing again - 3lb this week.

SausageRoll90 · 16/05/2025 10:07

Good morning 👋🏻 sorry I've been a bit MIA the last few days. Life has just been busy and I haven't been keeping up with the thread well BUT I've done a mammoth catch up so we're all good 😊

Well done on all the losses (big or small) and the NSVs too 💪🏻 amazing achievements!!!

It's end of week 5 for me. It was also my period week which was my 1st cycle on MJ and it's been surprisingly light and short period, after a long (40day) cycle. I have PCOS so that might be a coincidence about MJ and just be a weird for me to be light. We'll see as time goes on.

End of Week 5 (5mg)
SW: 16st 9.5lb
CW: 16st
W1: -4lb
W2: -1lb
W3: -1lb
W4: -2lb
W5: -1.5lb🩸
Total loss on MJ: -9.5lb

(Loss overall: -1st 2lb 🙌🏻)

Incognitoburrito88 · 16/05/2025 17:41

@DrMonjo i totally feel your pain. I have four kids - one who is anorexic and a full time job - the mental weight of cupboard and fridge management along with meal planning and packed lunch production is overwhelming. Luckily, I’m not repulsed by food so I don’t think it’s been worse for me. My husband and I see a couples therapist and she’s started getting us to communicate a bit more around food / meal planning / shopping and my husband has taken over a bit of this - it’s early days yet but it’s taken a massive weight off my shoulders….

RhaenysRocks · 16/05/2025 19:55

Has anyone else had an issue with their vision? It's probably unrelated but in the last few days my focus is slow and slightly blurred.

Lundier · 17/05/2025 06:54

@RhaenysRocks that sounds concerning. I think there are some possible reported complications with GLP-1 and vision, on top of diabetic retinopathy. Please call your optician? 💐

Musermum · 17/05/2025 07:10

Husband kicked my shin this morning and woke me up with a bang, so thought I'd get the weigh in over early 😂. I moved up to 5mg last Saturday and had very good suppression and few SE, only a bit of burping. Happy to have lost 1.7kg this week, so 6.5kg in total. Jabbing for W6 this evening after a day in the big smoke (well, Belfast... Not that big)

RhaenysRocks · 17/05/2025 08:00

@Lundier on it...I did a bit of research and dehydration can be a cause so I downed a few glasses of water last night and it seems a little better this morning. I'm v short sighted and am in the opticians a fair bit so I'll definitely give them a call. Thanks

SquishyGloopyBum · 17/05/2025 08:47

Nearly time for thread 4!!

I didn’t lose this week having been working away. But I didn’t gain either. No SE yet on 3.75 which is good for me.

GRCP · 17/05/2025 08:55

After a mid-week weigh in I’m one stone down from my starting weight. So pleased. I’ve decided I’m going to continue for 4 more weeks and then stop and try to maintain where I am. It’s been so nice getting rid of all the cravings and food noise for a period of time so I can just breathe and re-educate myself on what foods make me feel good and what foods really don’t. I’ve been listening to the Zoe podcast which is so interesting.

MiamiMimi · 17/05/2025 08:56

First 5mg dose for me this morning and I’ve gone the whole hog so fingers crossed I don’t get side effects! D1 W5 for me and 9lb in total which I’m pleased with.

Schoolsec · 17/05/2025 11:18

First 5mg dose for me last night after 4 weeks on 2.5mg. Definitely feel it fizz in my tummy when DH injects 😳 still losing but food noise coming back, so decided to move up. So SE yet, except a bit of nausea this morning. Next goal is to inject myself. Still can’t quite manage it 🤢

I'm sure you'll be fine :) Absolute worst case you do get a few, you can always go lower next time. It won't be forever x

W7D1
SW 80kg
CW 70kg
GW 58/60kg

I am really liking the 5 and don't think I'm going to go up on my next pen as I'm getting good suppression (sometimes too good and I have to force myself to eat) and losing steadily.
