Thank you!! I’m here :)

Thank you for this @QS90

@Beachbabes There have been a few people who have mentioned having periods after starting MJ - women who were menopausal (or even those who had finished the menopause). So it is possible 😕

I weighed myself on Friday, and was down 13lbs in 28 days. Then had a friend to stay over, and did over-indulge a bit! Didn't want to weight yesterday and bum myself out. But back on the good foods today, and about to do my 5mg pen. If I'm lucky, I might get to a stone loss in a month.

Good morning! Newbie (to MJ, not Mumsnet!) checking in.
I took my first dose of my 2.5g last night and so far no side effects. Am making sure to drink loads of water and have rehydration sachets at the ready in case I need them.

I don’t really feel hungry but don’t know if I actually don’t feel hungry or if my brain is telling me that cos I think I shouldn’t be lol!

I am not planning to tell anyone in real life about this so will be good to chat about it online.

That’s an amazing loss well done! We’ve got a friend staying too and I had a glass of wine and a few mini eggs last night. I’m feeling pretty chilled out about allowing myself to have the odd treat because I’m not scared of falling off the wagon like I have been on previous diets.

👋

The first week is a bit weird because you still know that usually you would be snacking or eating but you don’t actually feel the hunger.
I would say just focus on eating 2/3 healthy meals and drinking lots

Hi @Glitterkitten24 👋I found appetite suppression from only a few hours in too - I think it's quite common! But I was also surprised when it happened to me.

Good luck with your first day :)

Yes, exactly this!

I've done keto quite successfully previously. But any sugar at all, and I was well off the wagon! Lovely to not have that pressure.

I find if I fall off the waggon It doesn’t escalate as it would before

had a cake day Friday - even for breakfast as my neighbour dropped off some birthday cake early - finished the day with magnum and large bag of ready salted crisps

but I wasn’t furiously going at it and then next day I didn’t give it a thought and when back to my healthy food

does make me worry bout maintenance time though 😩

Marmaladelade · 27/04/2025 10:42

And thanks for doing the threads!

SausageRoll90 · 27/04/2025 10:49

I'm putting this here too as it was at the end part of the other thread...

I'm losing slow right now too but I'm feeling frustrated with it. I weigh every few days and the last 3 weigh ins have been stagnant at 16st 4.5lbs which I'm finding hard to see as I'm still tracking calories etc. I'm 5lb down in total so far and currently on W3D2. I know it's early days still.
As I'm writing this, I am thinking about my week and I did have a higher calorie day the other day up to 2000cals as I had a work buffet and sweet cravings due to awful sleep with my toddler. I also went out for a gorgeous special meal on Friday night with my family which was definitely higher calorie (and worth every mouthful) then yesterday although my suppression was high and I only ate 1000cals they weren't the best /healthiest food choices... Hmmm maybe that has had more of an impact than I thought it would.
Plus my cycles has gone awol this month. I have PCOS so they're irregular at times anyway but I'm already on cycle day 24 and zero signs of ovulation (I'm very aware of my cycles from a family planning/prevention perspective) 🤷🏻‍♀️ all I can find online about periods/cycles and MJ is the situation where people are having periods again after a time of not having them post menopause/during peri-menopause.

NotsosunnyShropshire · 27/04/2025 10:49

The 5mg pen I ordered at 4pm on Friday is being delivered this morning. Still have one more dose and hopefully my golden dose to go on my first pen though.

The website said slight delays of 4 days, so I’d figured my order may not be looked at until Monday and possibly not delivered until the end of the week, plus maybe even later due to BH, so, bonus!

My mum did some group counselling years ago, when she became pre-diabetic. She said one of the main obstacles for the women there, had been throwing the towel in, if they had a slip up. As in, if they ate badly for one day, they were like "what's the point?!" and just went back to their old eating habits. Even if they'd previously stuck at it for months. I've been a bit like this myself. Am really hoping that whilst on the jabs, it becomes the "norm" for me to be able to just go back to eating well, after a party day for example. So I will be able to carry the good habit on, after the jabs...

Thanks for the new thread! I’m now W3 D4 and I’ve finally dropped below 76kg…by a whole 100g. That’s the lightest I’ve been in over 3 years (4kg lost so far). I find my appetite suppression peaks over the weekend (yay) - I inject on a Thursday morning. And I start to get the hungry feels on Tuesday/Wednesday usually disguised as heart burn. I’ve had no other side effects so far, which is great.

I’m assuming the subscription I’m on will up me to 5mg in just over a week. I think if I can have it, I’ll go with it. Target weight seems achievable finally. I’ve done nothing new in terms of eating and exercise. The only difference is Mounjaro, so to me it is magic :)

Yes it’s a whole new behaviour for me. I’m going to be on this long term until I can be trusted with my eating habits

I’ve just this last few days stopped tracking and it feels like I’m starting to use my intuition.

im also very beware it’s all very easy with this suspending the food noise and the chuck it all in. But as I say I’m in for the long haul and will have some therapy around eating properly and nourishment before I come off!

PhantomErik · 27/04/2025 11:44

Wk5 D1 first 5mg jab tonight which I'm slightly nervous about as I've been pretty much free from nasty side effects so far but I'm going for it anyway.

SW 16.6
CW 15.11
TW no idea, can't really think about yet.

NSV the bum of my jeans are baggy, they were snug when I started so quite pleased about that!

So 9lbs off & lost 3.5 inches from my waist with 1 x 2.5mg pen. Very happy with that.

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 27/04/2025 11:50

Week 4
D2

Lost 1lb this week but I’m on my period so I’ll take that!
my stats are:
W1: -5lb
W2: -2lb
W3: -1lb

I’m the lightest I’ve been in 18 months atm so I’ll take that as a small win.

MiamiMimi · 27/04/2025 12:00

Hi 👋 I’ve just done my second jab but will weigh on Tuesday at slimming world, which I’m doing alongside.

fox919 · 27/04/2025 12:08

W3d3 here. Feeling pretty positive now which is nice. I’ve been weighing myself every day since Thursday out of curiosity and I’ve been losing like 1lb a day which is a bit crazy! I was 13st7.2 on Thursday and 13st4 this morning. Calories were low on Thursday and Friday, but average yesterday. So since my first weigh in 2 weeks ago today I’m 7.8lbs down 🥳

Icebreakhell · 27/04/2025 12:20

Week 3 Day 1 here.

think I’m getting less suppression on 2.5mg. Weight has plateaued no loss this past week. Have ordered the 5mg pen.
