Mounjaro April 2025 Starters

1000 replies

OpheliaABC · 26/03/2025 19:28

Anyone else starting soon/in April? I've seen there has been lots of threads for new starters for the previous months which looked helpful so I'm starting one too.

Starting weight: 98kg
Goal weight: 75kg

I will be starting either at the end of this week or early next.

I have a huge appetite, lots of cravings for junk food, and I'm hoping to get my portion sizes under control. Three members in my immediate family have now been diagnosed with diabetes and I'd rather not join them.

I'm having full blood work done in a few days to make sure I don't have deficiencies, thyroid problems or overly high blood glucose levels. Trying to give myself a full health MOT but I love my food so it won't be an easy ride. I can only hope this works for me and that my portion sizes will be halved without going hungry as I've seen happen to some people.

Welcome, if you are joining me! 😊

Finally, I’ve been approved! It says it will arrive Tuesday or Wednesday, which is the best part of a week before I go back to work, so pleased with that. Really looking forward to starting.

Please can someone link the new thread once it’s been started - then I can find you all!

That's exactly how I'm feeling too. Although I'm finding it easy not to eat, I just don't know what to do with myself instead to gain that emotional hit. I got so much pleasure from planning and preparing lovely meals, treating myself to sweet snacks, having a pastry with a coffee in town, etc. We need to retrain our brains somehow as well as our bodies.

It’s so nice to hear someone else say they feel the same way. I feel like understanding this is the key to sustainable weight loss and also maybe to just being a happier person. I hope I can train my brain to get the dopamine hit elsewhere during this process.

QS90 · 12/04/2025 08:49

I spelt the title wrong 🤦‍♀️ but new link ahead. See you there all!

Incognitoburrito88 · 12/04/2025 08:50

@QS90 has made a new thread!!! Link to it here… (I’ve never done this before - hope it works!)

I have mine sitting in the fridge.. Debating when to start. I'm off work for Easter holidays from Wednesday so thinking Tuesday night in case I feel rough, especially the tiredness people are talking about. Got from Med express as my daughter's friend is on it from there and gave me a code. Feeling a bit nervous.

I had a bit of heartburn from eating grapes in the evening but other than that I didn’t have any problems. With regards to tiredness, I would say I had more energy for most of the days. I think it’s a good idea to have it before the holidays, just Incase

Also, I think everyone is nervous. I prepared my own and then thought ‘shall I?!) but in a few seconds I thought I’d all the other medical conditions I am at risk from and went ahead. I thinks everyone will tell you that it’s fine and it is!

I’ve reported it to change the name so it can be found!

Pepperwaggytail · 12/04/2025 16:03

Hello fellow WLI lovelies!
I think I’m on track for another 1.8lb weight loss this week. The app I use to track my weight (Happy Scale) has never looked so positive. I weigh daily but previously my weight would have tracked up a bit, down a bit, up a bit more, followed by stay the same for a day or two…then hopefully a small drop and repeat! this would go on for weeks. It’s so amazing to see fairly consistent drops, even if just 0.2 lb.
This is week 3 on 2.5mg for me and I’ve lost around 4.5lb (next jab is Monday evening). I’m currently 10st 13lb and want to see how I feel at around 10st.
Is anyone noticing more weight loss from one injection site than others? I feel I get slightly better loss from injecting in the thighs, with no difference in any side effects. I’ve been really lucky here, it’s mostly been feeling very tired, especially after 7pm and feeling cold in bed and slightly headachy.
Im going to do my next jab of 2.5 on Monday and then try and get the golden dose out of the pen for week 5. I’ll only increase the dose if I stop losing or start to feel unmanageably hungry.
i definitely do still feel hunger, but i get full really quickly and have no desire at all for chocolate, wine, cake or cheese! I used to live on cheese! I had a curry last night (chose a korma in case of any unexpected side effects) but only really ate the chicken pieces and maybe a third of the rice, normally I could eat the whole thing!
I really do think Mounjaro is a miracle drug, and I know that if I do inevitably put a bit of weight back on in the future, I’ll be able to get it off again. I don’t want to take a maintenance dose if at all possible, mainly due to the cost. But I might investigate micro dosing.
What are your plans for maintenance everyone?

Skinni · 12/04/2025 17:37

In my head I am planning maintenance for at least a year - if not two as for me this is where it all goes wrong. I have been boom/busting dieting for 20 years - I always gradually start to put the weight on within weeks and back up to my standard 3 stone overweight within a year. I am 58 now with high BP and high Cholesterol and pre-diabetes - I want to reverse all of those an hold on to my health to avoid cancer, dementia and CVD caused by obesity. I cant be trusted - so taking no risks.

I could honestly have written this myself.

vl888 · 17/04/2025 10:05

Took my second dose this morning. Can't believe the difference since I started last week.

I have always had an unhealthy relationship with food - I tended to eat out of boredom rather than actually being hungry. I also seemed to have an irrational fear of being hungry, so would just eat and eat. I tried dieting multiple times, but the food noise and temptation ALWAYS won. I am quite an active person, so my excess weight definitely was food related/being greedy 😬

I took my first 2.5mg dose last week, and I noticed a difference the next morning. My appetite drastically reduced. Instead of counting down the minutes until the next thing I could eat, I had to force myself to eat. But now, I am able to make healthier food choices and am not craving sugary unhealthy things. If there is cake at work, I can happily say no, whereas previously I absolutely could not say no! 😅

I weighed myself on 7th April and was 14st 0lb
I weighed myself today (14th April) and am 13st 6lb
So down 7lb in the first week! I understand this will probably calm down, but I am so happy so far. I feel healthier and happier already.

So far, I have been lucky enough to have no side effects. Fingers crossed this continues, although I have read sometimes they arise when you increase dose. Fingers crossed I am one of the lucky ones!!!

Conundrumseverywhere · 17/04/2025 10:28

I am interested to know what the results have been for people who don’t have ‘food noise’. I don’t. I just eat too much when I do eat and don’t take enough exercise clearly.

Crikeyalmighty · 17/04/2025 11:01

@Conundrumseverywhere that’s my issue - I’ve never been a food noise person - I’m on my 3rd dose and hate the SE- feeling totally off for 2 days post injection- nausea, burps, bit of acid reflux in bed and just an off tummy - but no diarrhoea etc - it’s like having a very long lasting hangover.

im doing the 4 doses and then going to use herbal appetite suppressants- i am loosing albeit slowly - down about 6lbs so far but have been on strict 1150 cal a day and think in all honesty i can do this without the jabs if i am consistent for months on end - thats my problem before- i lose some and then revert back to around 2k a day and gradually gain. I actually eat very well and little sweet stuff, I just like big portions of proper meals at dinner time and I like wine a couple of times a week .

its made me realise if the main benefit is suppression I am capable of this without the jabs - I just need to be more consistent and keep a constant eye on portion control and to be fair if people come off jabs that’s what will need to be done anyway as there’s no way I could use this for life as maintenance -

I think if people get no SE then I can see it’s of great use if they do get food noise, but for me the SE are just unpleasant when balanced against something I think I can do with consistent willpower -

Bagpuss2022 · 17/04/2025 12:15

3rd weigh in and 4th jab today and I have lost 4lb this week which takes my loss to 14.3lb I’m so happy with that

I don't have food noise but I dopamine seek through food, I snack or don't eat and then get really hungry and crave carbs/sugar and eat huge portions as I haven't eaten for hours.

I have ADHD and this has been amazing for me, I generally sleep better, my mind is not as chaotic and I eat smaller portions but more regularly.

I’m exactly like this.

Lost 4lbs week 1. Lost nothing week 2. Now in week 3 and dying of the side effects which is the like the worst stomach flu ever.

Really feeling down about it all as was hoping for a magic bullet.

Crikeyalmighty · 17/04/2025 22:14

@TimeToGetThin yep - see my post earlier - was crap on 2.5 and I’ve even tried 1.25 split dose - still feel really sick and stomache ache- except twice a week now for 2 to 3 days - as mentioned I’m going to back off for a month and use Berberine herbal appetite suppressants - I did manage 2st 4 off 18 months ago in 9 months with these and no side effects- just felt full much more with a heavyweight 1150 a day calorie controlling and far less alcohol - will see if I get same results as before- really not trying to be a negative nelly but clearly I’m very suspectible to pretty unpleasant SE on even small doses of this - and as I don’t get food noise that aspect isnt the biggie for me - good luck to those doing well on it though!!

Sorry you went through the same. I don’t get food noise either these days as too busy with a young family.

My problem is large portions, fizzy drinks and a metabolism that is shot to shit. 10yrs ago I ate double the calories but was 4 stone lighter.

Crikeyalmighty · 18/04/2025 14:14

@TimeToGetThin yep my metabolism is crap too and I’m 63 - 20 years ago I would have had a stone off in 5 weeks if I was very careful - these days it’s more like 10 to 12 weeks - and that’s at1100 cal a day in week -1500at weekend ( I refuse to not have a glass of wine at weekends) - however I had dropped half a kilo this morning from yesterday morning - so can’t say it doesn’t work albeit slowly - I just hate feeling totally awful several days a week - I do realise though not everyone does
