Mounjaro April 2025 Starters

1000 replies

OpheliaABC · 26/03/2025 19:28

Anyone else starting soon/in April? I've seen there has been lots of threads for new starters for the previous months which looked helpful so I'm starting one too.

Starting weight: 98kg
Goal weight: 75kg

I will be starting either at the end of this week or early next.

I have a huge appetite, lots of cravings for junk food, and I'm hoping to get my portion sizes under control. Three members in my immediate family have now been diagnosed with diabetes and I'd rather not join them.

I'm having full blood work done in a few days to make sure I don't have deficiencies, thyroid problems or overly high blood glucose levels. Trying to give myself a full health MOT but I love my food so it won't be an easy ride. I can only hope this works for me and that my portion sizes will be halved without going hungry as I've seen happen to some people.

Welcome, if you are joining me! 😊

I weighed in this morning after my first week. I've lost 9.5lbs Shock. I can't quite believe it, but obviously I'm delighted.

I will take my second jab when I get home from work later.

Woahhhh!!!! That’s super amazing!!! Well done!

Brilliant to see all these losses!

I am procrastinating. It's been in my fridge for 2 weeks! I quite nervous and am away a lot this month and think I would rather be at home if I get nasty side effects. So I'm waiting until I have a longish run of being at home so I can see how it effects me. Really enjoying seeing everyone's experiences and it's all very reassuring - hope I can join you all after Easter!

Im in the north. Using a pharmacy I found on monj. Didn't require photos, just a short video call. Took less than a week from first applying to receipt.

SquishyQuokka · 11/04/2025 12:48

I survived the night too. No nausea or GI issues, but I don’t half ache, in all the places I would like to lose weight 🤣 maybe my body knows the Mounjaro is coming for it! Otherwise all ok, not feeling particularly hungry, but ate a small lunch. Can still taste last night’s dinner when I burp!

I am starting in 2 weeks, earliest appointment I could get. Its hard to read all the posts, there are so many. Did anyone get their prescription in the north? How long did it take? Also, what is the best day to start? Thank you xx

I’m North East, I chose Asda because I thought it would be easier to just pick it up and if there were any issues I could just go in. I ordered it on the Thursday and was ready to be collected on Friday. I will probably change providers when I increase though because I’ve seen the 5mg is over £200!

GRCP · 11/04/2025 13:14

I’m feeling impatient - I requested it yesterday and uploaded photos straightaway and still haven’t heard (I know, it’s only one day!) now I’ve made the decision I just want to start. Got a nice healthy food shop coming tomorrow morning.

SusanSometimes · 11/04/2025 13:17

Oh no @Minuethippo! Keep going, you'll probably lose a huge amount next week and I'll lose nothing. Two peloton classes a day is amazing!

ymemanresu · 11/04/2025 13:25

Can i join please?Ordered today from MedExpress, just need to upload a photo and ID. 12 stone 9, goal 10,7

@TC4 thats fantastic! Are you on week 3 now?

Thank you, I am just about to start week 3 tonight x

Skinni · 11/04/2025 13:32

I have just had this message towards the end of week 2 from Zava:

"Is it time to increase your dose?

If you last ordered 2.5mg of Mounjaro and have taken at least 2 doses without SE or with manageable side effect, you may be ready to move up to 5mg.

If you’re experiencing side effects that are difficult to manage or interfere with your daily routine, it’s usually best to stay on your current dose a little longer before increasing."

Anyone else jumping up to 5mg after 2 weeks? I lost 9lb week 1 but zero this second week.

Kaylazoey · 11/04/2025 13:35

First full day after taking yesterday - definitely feeling some slight nausea and tummy ache but nothing I can't handle. Super relieved as I was so scared of potential serious side effects. Appetite has completely gone which feels quite mad - think it would be very easy to not eat but I'm looking to lose sustainably so not doing that!

Pandimoanymum · 11/04/2025 13:39

Minuethippo · 11/04/2025 11:29

Weighed today after first week on jab and not a single pound down. Hardly ate anything all week and been doing two peloton classes a day! A bit discouraging but must keep going!

That's quite a bit of exercise, though. Maybe you're building muscle, which weighs more than fat, and it's offsetting the fat loss?
This happened to me when I used to go jogging 3/4 times a week. I only lost about 8lb in weight but my hips, bum and tum really toned up and I had to drop a dress size. I looked like i'd lost more than I had.

wordywitch · 11/04/2025 13:56

I only felt a bit off for a couple hours this morning, took some painkillers for the headache and drank loads of water and it went. Finally had a bit to eat around 11am and felt much better. Went on a long walk with DH after that and am just having veggies for lunch as that’s all I want.

@SkinniI’ve not heard of anyone being offered or suggested to go up to 5mg after two weeks, I’d be interested to know if that’s something anyone has done.

66babe · 11/04/2025 14:35

I think they start to offer the 5 mg after 2 weeks as you start to think about ordering your next pen
the recommendation is 4 weeks at 2.5mg then consider the 5 mg with the information below
I’ve ordered 2.5 again as 2nd pen but don’t need it for another week as about to do 3rd jab tomorrow morning
Great to see these losses
Personally I’ve had no side effects at all and definitely lost again this week so we shall see AM
Keep going all - and good luck

Hi folks. I’m on holiday in Morocco. I cannot tell you what it means to have a holiday without food noise inside my head. Truly a first and it is so liberating.

I've send you a PM as I have a discount code you can use for Zava which is the medical company that Asda use.

I did try to put it in a comment but MN deleted it so it must not be allowed 🤷🏻‍♀️

JMSA · 11/04/2025 15:09

@ymemanresu thank you so much x

Alipetals · 11/04/2025 15:09

To be honest, I was dreading the injection [despite being a blood donor for 20+ years] but it was totally painless. No symptoms so far either, I know it's only been a couple of days but feeling very positive.

ymemanresu · 11/04/2025 15:10

Just ordered today, what dose are you on and how long for? I imagine there must be some amazing food in Morrocco too !

StrikeForever · 11/04/2025 15:13

TheDutchHouse · 11/04/2025 10:17

Yes I use them for my regular prescription monthly. Saves faff of remembering to get the repeat in on time.
free to use and cos I’m old I get them free anyway.
The discount was good , plus on opening the box yesterday they’ve given me 20% off next purchase of WLI

That’s great. I might move to them for my second order. Not sure how to date stamp a photo though.

I just held a piece of paper up with the date in my photo, bit like a hostage situation 🤦‍♀️

Week 1 done!
Just done my 2nd dose & weigh in this morning

SW 15st 10lbs
CW 15st

Cant believe I had a 10lb loss 😱
I know it’s water and imagine I won’t lose anything 2nd week.
I will really try and get extra protein in this week and start on doing some weight exercises
Worried that some is also muscle loss and I also worry about hair loss with rapid weight loss as well, so will really be hoping for slow & steady going forward.

Think I need to start taking collagen. Any recommendations?

I have been taking the Applied Nutrition marine collagen (endorsed by Colleen Rooney! lol). Only really because it was on offer in Holland and Barrett (quite a big discount). I bought the original one and put it in water, smoothies and porridge which has been fine. I have seen other people also recommend Ancient and Brave but that was a lot more money. My skin does look okay at the moment (very glowy) but hard to know yet if it's because of that or all the water? Let me know how you get on please? Saggy skin was something I was worried about before starting. Thanks.
