Mounjaro April 2025 Starters

1000 replies

OpheliaABC · 26/03/2025 19:28

Anyone else starting soon/in April? I've seen there has been lots of threads for new starters for the previous months which looked helpful so I'm starting one too.

Starting weight: 98kg
Goal weight: 75kg

I will be starting either at the end of this week or early next.

I have a huge appetite, lots of cravings for junk food, and I'm hoping to get my portion sizes under control. Three members in my immediate family have now been diagnosed with diabetes and I'd rather not join them.

I'm having full blood work done in a few days to make sure I don't have deficiencies, thyroid problems or overly high blood glucose levels. Trying to give myself a full health MOT but I love my food so it won't be an easy ride. I can only hope this works for me and that my portion sizes will be halved without going hungry as I've seen happen to some people.

Welcome, if you are joining me! 😊

Pen arrived yesterday and I just took my first dose just now! Was fairly nervous about injecting myself so was worried I would freeze whilst trying to do it and wouldn't get the balls to do it, but I did it! The needle is so tiny! So proud of myself. I can definitely do that again. Excited and nervous for whatever is to come!

Well done , just about to do mine … did you do it in the stomach or leg ?

Potato1234 · 10/04/2025 18:59

@Skinni im pescatarian and don’t eat cheese so protein is difficult too. I eat loads of eggs, nuts, seeds, legumes. Sometimes snack on edamame as well - I put chilli flakes on them for more flavour. I find weighing nuts and seeds into portions at the beginning of the week helpful as it’s so easy to go overboard

ItsLikeClimbingAMounjaro · 10/04/2025 19:01

Week 1 done. It only seemed to work days 1-3. Today (day 7) I'm starving.

Only lost 2lb So far.

Have tracked food and water and upped protein.

Bit disappointed Tbh

Slow losses are much much healthier! Less chance of serious side effects like gallstones or loose skin or piling it all back on again once at target!

TheDutchHouse · 10/04/2025 19:37

1st dose done.
Into stomach, didn’t feel a thing. In fact doing a finger prick for sugars is more painful.

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 10/04/2025 19:38

Bad day at work so reached for my usual chocolate- and I couldn’t stomach it. Made me feel SO sick. I definitely did not think I had an emotional eating problem but clearly I do! I’m going to have to find alternative methods for coping with stress 🤔

Snap! Just did mine 6 minutes ago. Figured I may as well start straight away.

I think we’re now Mounjaro twins 😁

Echoing what PPs have said about slower losses being more sustainable! In my first week the jab had totally worn off by day 4, but today on week 2 day 4 I still have some appetite suppression and less food noise. In another fortnight the effects should hopefully last for close to the full week.

TC4 · 10/04/2025 17:58

Thank you for this, so did you have and documents off the doctor for the medication or have to declare it was in your case at all?? My only issue is I’ve not told some of the people I’m with so don’t want to have to make a big deal out of it I’d rather leave it home if I have to 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

I never mentioned that it was in the case, just like I did not mention other medication - OH's blood pressure tablets etc! I kept it in the box with the prescribing label on inside a make-up/wash bag. So no one would know what it was in the fridge. The epi-pen insulated pouch is even more discreet.

EllaSaturday · 10/04/2025 21:43

Just did my first jab as well. Was so nervous but it was absolutely fine. Easy to do and didn't feel a thing. Fingers crossed now!

Kaylazoey · 10/04/2025 21:58

Hi all, just took my first jab about 30 mins ago! Have felt so anxious about taking it with potential side effects and scare stories etc. ultimately I got over myself and really looking forward to seeing what this journey brings

Namerequired · 10/04/2025 22:06

Anyone moving/moved up to 5mg before the 4 weeks? I’m week 3 day 3 and the 2.5 really isn’t doing anything. I’m thinking of starting the 5 a week early.

I actually did it in the back of my arm! It was because I figured that if I did the place that scared me the most first, the others would feel less scary!

I did mine in the stomach as I guessed that was the chunkiest part and maybe would hurt less

Potato1234 · 10/04/2025 17:52

Good to know I’m not alone. No idea about my cycle, still no period since giving birth in December!

You are still really early days postpartum so
dont beat yourself up for needing to eat more some days x

TC4 · 10/04/2025 22:46

So today I’m week 2 day 6 so next jab tomorrow evening, at the start of week 2 I was convinced it wasn’t working but even though I was eating more than i thought I should I was definitely making better choices. And today I still actually feel like I have some suppression although I’ve eaten what I think is a lot today - blueberries, yogurt, protein granola and honey. A banana. A satsuma. A packet of wotsits. A small portion of rice, veg and salmon, I then did a bootcamp/circuit training session (my first exercise in years - I will not be able to move tomorrow) and then had a small chicken and lettuce wrap with a little bit of mayo.

I feel like my weight is going down but not too quick but that’s what i want, official weigh in tomorrow morning (although will probably have some water weight from exercise) but as of today I’ve lost 8lb in total and just over 3lb of that is this week.

SausageRoll90 · 10/04/2025 23:08

Yay to all the 1st jabbers today!!! My pen is due to arrive tomorrow 👍🏻 I'm a bit nervous about how my body will respond but ready to give it a go.
Someone was asking about what people are tracking on and I'm going to be using Nutcracker app for the food tracking and weight tracking. I've also got myself a Pinch of Nom food tracker/journal new from Vinted to help with my food planning and tracking.

StrikeForever · 10/04/2025 23:25

TheDutchHouse · 10/04/2025 15:33

I applied Monday via the P2U app , as I already use them I got a 25% discount. I was then asked on Tuesday to resubmit my photos with a date stamp . It’s been delivered today !
except my neighbour took it and she’s out now… very frustrating lol

Do you mean you use them for regular prescriptions, so they give you a 25% discount? I also use them for regular prescriptions, so that’s useful to know.

NotsosunnyShropshire · 11/04/2025 06:31

Well, I survived the night, but already I’m really thirsty.

wordywitch · 11/04/2025 07:48

Woke up this morning with mild nausea and a mild headache, tried to have my usual breakfast but could only manage a few bites. Will see how the day pans out.

I survived too , but slept very heavily, normally I’m awake for at least an hour or two . I’ve just made a cuppa as very thirsty and automatically reached for the usual accompaniment of a biscuit or three !!
I resisted but still have the desire lol

Do you think it’s dehydration? They are awful headaches to get !
