Mounjaro April 2025 Starters

1000 replies

OpheliaABC · 26/03/2025 19:28

Anyone else starting soon/in April? I've seen there has been lots of threads for new starters for the previous months which looked helpful so I'm starting one too.

Starting weight: 98kg
Goal weight: 75kg

I will be starting either at the end of this week or early next.

I have a huge appetite, lots of cravings for junk food, and I'm hoping to get my portion sizes under control. Three members in my immediate family have now been diagnosed with diabetes and I'd rather not join them.

I'm having full blood work done in a few days to make sure I don't have deficiencies, thyroid problems or overly high blood glucose levels. Trying to give myself a full health MOT but I love my food so it won't be an easy ride. I can only hope this works for me and that my portion sizes will be halved without going hungry as I've seen happen to some people.

Welcome, if you are joining me! 😊

@wordywitch oh dear! Things that helped me: ginger tea with a spoonful of honey and a pinch of salt, a small piece of a banana, ibuprofen! Check in with us. I hope you feel better soon!

W1D7 SW 86.2kg CW 82kg

I am eating more normally now and feel ok, so I think this will level off soon. I will not be taking the next jab tomorrow morning, but pushing it back to Monday night.

I’m only on week 1 day 5 but I think I’ve been telling myself all week that my appetite has been suppressed when it really hasn’t 😆 just will power which I’m struggling with today

Hi, I’m feeling exactly the same and in the same timeframe as you. Using my willpower to get me through but I haven’t had any side effects so it makes me question if I injected properly, but know that must have. I’m hoping the lack of suppression is temporary.

TC4 · 11/04/2025 08:41

@TC4 Fantastic news! Well done xx enjoy the farm

Raffles134 · 11/04/2025 09:42

@TC4 thats fantastic! Are you on week 3 now?

Raffles134 · 11/04/2025 09:50

Week 1 done!
Just done my 2nd dose & weigh in this morning

SW 15st 10lbs
CW 15st

Cant believe I had a 10lb loss 😱
I know it’s water and imagine I won’t lose anything 2nd week.
I will really try and get extra protein in this week and start on doing some weight exercises
Worried that some is also muscle loss and I also worry about hair loss with rapid weight loss as well, so will really be hoping for slow & steady going forward.

Think I need to start taking collagen. Any recommendations?

SquishyGloopyBum · 11/04/2025 09:50

wordywitch · 11/04/2025 07:48

Woke up this morning with mild nausea and a mild headache, tried to have my usual breakfast but could only manage a few bites. Will see how the day pans out.

Same here!

I’m finding peppermint tea is helping. I’ve also had loose bowels (but not full diarrhoea at least).

That’s an amazing loss in a week, can I ask about the collagen, is that tablet form and what are the benefits?

StrikeForever · 10/04/2025 23:25

Do you mean you use them for regular prescriptions, so they give you a 25% discount? I also use them for regular prescriptions, so that’s useful to know.

Yes I use them for my regular prescription monthly. Saves faff of remembering to get the repeat in on time.
free to use and cos I’m old I get them free anyway.
The discount was good , plus on opening the box yesterday they’ve given me 20% off next purchase of WLI

Raffles134 · 11/04/2025 10:19

@TheDutchHouse
I'm not currently taking collagen but think it might be beneficial.
Supposed to help with increasing skin elasticity and also good for hair & nails.
Looking for recommendations from anyone that already takes it!

Incognitoburrito88 · 11/04/2025 10:35

Morning Everyone.
I woke up at 5:30 this morning and did my second jab since I was awake. Then went back to sleep until the toddler woke me up at 8!

I’m not sure I’m feeling much in the way of anything. I was hungry yesterday and went to sleep dreaming of Pringles! I’ve had a small breakfast of chopped fruit, Greek yogurt and muesli and I’m about to go to a cafe. I won’t have cake but not convinced it’s the MJ stopping me!

can’t weigh as I’m on holiday for another ten days - I wonder if my face looks a little thinner but not sure. I guess I will just keep plodding on and waiting for the miracle to come! Already thinking about going up to 5mg!

Incognitoburrito88 · 11/04/2025 10:38

Oh forgot to say. I did have to rush to the bathroom this morning about 3 hrs post injection which I was pleased about because I was a bit bunged up before!

Lostfirsttimebuyer · 11/04/2025 10:48

I am about 16 hours post my first jab - I am tentatively really pleased so far - I didn't fancy dinner after it last night, woken up not feeling hungry this morning, not feeling sick or headaches or anything just yet.
I made sure to eat much less than I usually do in 24 hours before taking my first jab, as I heard that helps with preventing nausea side effects.
Was not sure about whether to get my morning cappuccino on my way to work that I usually do, as I was not feeling "hungry" for it like I usually am. Decided I would get it as I was concerned that going from my usual 3 coffees to none would probably give side effects of its own that I do not need on top of any Mounjaro side effects (and I don't want to attribute things to Mounjaro that are due to caffeine withdrawal!) so I got the cappuccino. Have had about a quarter of it - enjoyed it and was not repulsed by it or anything. However, after that quarter I am feeling like I have had enough! And like I would feel nauseated if I made myself drink more. So I am saving it for later! I have never had a quarter of a coffee and saved the rest for later before!
Doing my best to try and listen to my body.
Have plans to try and wean off the coffees over the next week or two.

I weighed in this morning after my first week. I've lost 9.5lbs Shock. I can't quite believe it, but obviously I'm delighted.

I will take my second jab when I get home from work later.

You’re at the same stage as me!

Glad you had a great first week too. I did my 2nd injection this morning.

Beachbabes · 11/04/2025 11:10

I am starting in 2 weeks, earliest appointment I could get. Its hard to read all the posts, there are so many. Did anyone get their prescription in the north? How long did it take? Also, what is the best day to start? Thank you xx

violetmondays · 11/04/2025 11:13

Brilliant to see all these losses!

I am procrastinating. It's been in my fridge for 2 weeks! I quite nervous and am away a lot this month and think I would rather be at home if I get nasty side effects. So I'm waiting until I have a longish run of being at home so I can see how it effects me. Really enjoying seeing everyone's experiences and it's all very reassuring - hope I can join you all after Easter!

Fellow northerner here! I went through Boots and it took a few days/maybe a week I think from first filling out the form to collection from my local store.

Beachbabes · 11/04/2025 11:17

Sorry I should have stated, I live down south but my GP told me I can send the prescription to a pharmacy in the north and they will courier it to me

SausageRoll90 · 11/04/2025 11:21

Love hearing all these week 1 weigh ins - well done guys on these losses big or small. It's amazing!!!

My pen arrived this morning so I'll be taking it this evening after work. It feels like the longest week waiting for it but in reality it was all very quick given I applied on Monday evening, uploaded my photos in Tuesday evening, was approved Wednesday, pen dispatched Thursday and arrived Friday morning... Here's my starting stats and I'll update them every week 👍🏻

SW: 16st 9.5lb (105.9kg)
BMI: 37.5
Goal weight: 14st (gives me a BMI of 31.6)

50FootWave · 11/04/2025 11:22

We are on our way home after a magnificent city break, stuffed full of amazing Italian food.

Been catching up with all the updates and new people's posts and everyone's progress.

I am working tomorrow and need to do a big healthy shop. Excited to start on Sunday morning! 🤞

I actually did it in the back of my arm! It was because I figured that if I did the place that scared me the most first, the others would feel less scary!

Stomach week 1 right side, week 2 left. It says to alternate on the instructions

Minuethippo · 11/04/2025 11:29

Weighed today after first week on jab and not a single pound down. Hardly ate anything all week and been doing two peloton classes a day! A bit discouraging but must keep going!
