Mounjaro April 2025 Starters

1000 replies

OpheliaABC · 26/03/2025 19:28

Anyone else starting soon/in April? I've seen there has been lots of threads for new starters for the previous months which looked helpful so I'm starting one too.

Starting weight: 98kg
Goal weight: 75kg

I will be starting either at the end of this week or early next.

I have a huge appetite, lots of cravings for junk food, and I'm hoping to get my portion sizes under control. Three members in my immediate family have now been diagnosed with diabetes and I'd rather not join them.

I'm having full blood work done in a few days to make sure I don't have deficiencies, thyroid problems or overly high blood glucose levels. Trying to give myself a full health MOT but I love my food so it won't be an easy ride. I can only hope this works for me and that my portion sizes will be halved without going hungry as I've seen happen to some people.

Welcome, if you are joining me! 😊

Excited/scared/relieved I've made the decision!

This about sums me up too.

I need to do this. What are the first steps? Do I need to take photos and supplied weight? I dont have scales - just weigh at Drs or chemist.

I am on high BP & high hcolesterol meds. Anti Deps. HRT and most recently meds for Hypothyroid.

Different pharmacies have slightly different approaches I understand. But, yes, you provide a photo and your current stats. I was also asked for medical history, current conditions and medication. Nothing difficult though.

Thanks - can anyone recommend the cheapest to start - or are they all the same?

RhaenysRocks · 27/03/2025 18:37

Mine hadn't asked for photos. They have asked for a 5 min video call though (which they failed to do as arranged today). Irritating start.

Peasinthefreezer · 27/03/2025 18:37

I will love to join!

My first order arrived on Tuesday, but as dh is away I wanted to wait until he came back to start in case I had any bad side effects!

Probably start on Sunday or Monday.

I’m looking to lose around 4st. I’m 51, 14st, 5ft3 & a size 18 the heaviest I’ve ever been.

I’m on meds for high blood pressure and HRT.

Mounraine · 27/03/2025 18:49

I’ve been doing a bit more reading and disheartening myself with stories and stats of lack of success and regain. @diian you must be a super responder! Would you mind saying a bit about your lifestyle before (how you got to be overweight) and your lifestyle since starting (and stopping) the pens? I guess everyone says this, but I want to throw everything at this and maximise my chances of success.

lovemycbf · 27/03/2025 18:56

Hello
I had my first jab on Tuesday.
I had terrible eating habits and couldn’t eat sensibly all my life
so I’m really hoping this jab does the trick for me
so far it’s been great I’ve eaten very sensibly and less overall and the only side effects I’ve had is a metallic taste but that’s it
good luck to everyone starting

Hi. Just ordered my first jab so hopefully start this weekend. Hoping to lose about 30 kgs. From 90-60. I'm only 5ft so it shows. 49 and v keen to not be fat and fifty. Thing is, I genuinely don't eat terribly or lots, especially through the day, but later night snacking on savoury stuff is my downfall. It's got so much harder to lose weight as I've got older and stuff that used to work doesn't. I'm a SP to two teens, one of whom is AuADHD, had EBSA and just starting on meds.

I was going to a CrossFit place but I just can't make the space in my days for it right now and whilst it's probably good for me, it wasn't doing anything weight wise. This is my big hope. Happy to keep checking in to cheer each other on. What provider are you using?

PillSorted. I found a discount code for £50 off first order and £20 off subsequent orders so it seemed to work out a decent value.

How about you?

Good luck on your journey. 🙂

Me! I’ve just ordered today. Hoping to start by Monday latest. Starting weight 89kg goal weight 63kg. Nervous but excited. Not told anyone except my best friend who is doing well on it already. Not told DH either.

Oh, hi. Thanks for starting this thread - I’d be delighted to join!
I guess you could say that I’ve always had a tricky relationship with food, to put it kindly! I’m that person who’s on the plane going on holiday thinking about what the food’s going to be like. I’m the person who gets too much of their enjoyment in life from food. I’m the person who could be 4 stone heavier or lighter over the course of a year. The person who would consider a cinema visit pointless without treats Blush I find it really hard to strike a healthy balance with food and my portion sizes are INSANE. Either I’m dieting strictly or going nuts. I have a fairly obsessive, ‘all or nothing’ food personality.
I’ve always said that my food vice is the most fucked thing about me. Everything else is normal and rather lovely Grin
I was horrified when I stood on the scales on Sunday. I really had reached rock bottom. So I ordered Mounjaro and it’s due in a couple of days. I’d like to lose 6 stone and even then I won’t be skinny, but I’ll be happy with that weight.
Looking forward to it!

I totally relate to this. Food is life for me. I love nothing more than snacks in front of the tv, biscuits with my tea or coffee, takeaway to celebrate the weekend… you get the idea. I need to know there will be food coming sometime soon. 😆 And I can’t stop and just have a little. Food brings me so much joy but it’s going to ruin my health soon so I have to do something.

I used the monj website that lists all the providers and current discount codes. I intend to swap about as needed to keep the cost down as I really don't have £100+ a month spare but my kids each have more spent on their hobbies etc per month so I feel like I need to prioritise me. Im hoping that the fact I'm investing in this will help me stay on track.

I noticed in previous threads that lots of people said they were saving a fortune on food as they were eating less. I hope that will happen for you and I too because I’m not exactly finding it affordable either.

I wouldn't bother starting.
It doesn't work.😞
(I learnt this the very expensive way)

Oh no! I know it doesn’t work for everyone. How long were you on it?

OP posts:
50FootWave · 27/03/2025 20:10

I've started with Medexpress, simply because (a) you can get a £40 discount (lots of other threads here on that) and (b) a friend used and liked them.

I'm 52, active but menopausal with an appetite that won't quit. I lost 3 stone during lockdown as I gave up drinking the Christmas before, and never started again. But then the menopause hit, my joints seized up for a year prior to starting HRT, and I put the 3 stone back on.

All my usual go to's for losing weight no longer work. So, after lots of reading, research, talking myself out of it, in to it, more research, more procrastination, worry about side effects, stigma, shame, guilt and what people will think of me...in the end I just thought...try it for one month. What's the worst that can happen?

So here I am. Waiting for approval. I have told no one, other than a close friend. DP will think I'm being daft, but he doesn't understand how debilitating the menopause has been for me, and how desperately unhappy I am with my weight and how I look.

I'm pleased this group is here, and hope we can support each other.

OpheliaABC · 27/03/2025 20:11

RhaenysRocks · 26/03/2025 21:00

@diian that's a good way to think of it. If I add up what I've spent over the years on gym membership, boot camps, slim fast shakes, Noom subscriptions etc and am heavier than I've ever been, it's awful. I'm doing a short term one off job next month that will earn me about £800. I'm ring fencing that, or most of it, specifically for this use. Otherwise it will just disappear into the black hole of my finances. Im at the point now where I don't want to exercise because my feet hurt, I feel crap. If I can shift a decent amount I can maybe get back to swimming, walking, even running again.

Exactly! And how much money I’m spending on food too. I hope I see this decreasing if my portion sizes get smaller.

@OpheliaABC I posted more information about my experience at 07:57 this morning, if you look at this morning's posts on this thread you'll see what I said.
I'd love to explain more to you, but I have been told by @RhaenysRocks not to post about my experience on this thread.

100%. We will be there for each other all the way.

I’m willing to take the gamble. I might be a non-responder, but what if I’m not? What if it really makes a difference and I just wish I started sooner?

I just need to find out.

@50FootWave what you wrote really struck a chord with me. And I'm also feeling grateful to have everyone's company here.

50FootWave · 27/03/2025 20:32

@OpheliaABC and @Mounraine exactly!

Assuming my prescription is approved and arrives in time for me to hide it in the fridge, then I'll start around 13 April.

We're on holiday the week after next, but a delayed start is less about wanting to eat with abandon, and more about not wanting to have the nausea (aka diarrhea) abroad...

When are you starting again?

50FootWave · 27/03/2025 20:44

Oops, sorry @OpheliaABC and @Mounraine , just scrolled back and found that out for myself!

I'll post my stats when I start, but I'm 5.7 and as of this morning, 15.11.

Skinni · 27/03/2025 20:51

Is this a good deal - buying 3 months up front 2.5 + 5 + 7.5 = £406 (includes £40 discount)?

Skinni · 27/03/2025 20:53

Maybe I should just go for the first month in case I am a non-responder?

MrsB2389 · 27/03/2025 20:54

Hello, I’ve just ordered tonight after weeks of thinking about it. Have been trying to loose weight since new year and only managed 6lb by myself. Utterly fed up. I’m 14 stone and size 16. I’d love to get to 11 stone but would be over the moon at 12, so really feel I haven’t got a huge amount to go!

I’ve got 4 kids and I just feel I eat whatever I can get my hands on as I’m so busy constantly. I eat too much for sure. I graze all afternoon. I’m so crossed with myself that I can’t stop grazing so I’m hoping the jabs will take the temptation away.

thank you for starting the thread, I’d love to post on progress and hear how others are doing. I think I’ll start on Monday (eek that’s still March isn’t it - but just by a day) if my jabs have arrived in time.

Skinni · 27/03/2025 20:57

I just ordered the one month -- if anyone wants my code for 25% off DM me.

I am 84kg, 5ft 3inches, 58 years old.
