Welcome to thread 2 never thought we would be posting so much that we have to start a new thread.

I am still hovering around 12 and a half stone. I have been absolutely freezing to the point I have a duvet on the sofa.

I have had one NSV so far I can zip up my boots and they do not feel tight anymore.

Hello to all the bigger losers! I guess we are in for the long haul :) thanks for saying hello @akafrosty @Puddingpiper and @Illbefinejustbloodyfine I feel a bit less alone! Hoping this drug really does work for all of us.

To pp saying my post sounded a bit judgemental, I apologise - not my intention at all and I do understand that being overweight at any weight is very hard. Being very obese (my bmi is 44!) is just a different experience to being a couple of sizes bigger than is healthy and I was feeling a bit alone.

It's great that MJ is accessible to so many people and I personally think at some point we will see these and or the next generation of these drugs rolled out to many more people, including those with a healthy BMI - and I'm all for that. Especially when the side effects look set to become much less problematic in the next generation GLP meds. So I'm not judging anyone's choice to take MJ at all! I hope it will work for all of us as safely and with as few risks as possible.

My starting weight was 17st 2. I'm aiming initially for 12st 2, I know I don't look "fat" at that weight. Ideally I'd lost another st after that but really can't imagine being lower 11s anymore.

It's hard to imagine being super slim, isn't it? My sister who is the same height as me is a size 6 - it would just feel completely weird to me to be that slim! Even at the top range of healthy BMI I feel I looked too skinny. I guess a part of the appeal of MJ for me is the hope to be on it long term so that my brain can catch up with my body and accept that it's safe and okay to be slim!

Flaitch · 01/04/2025 13:58

Good god 🙈 tried golden dose, managed to force twist so did that but unsure if it worked as liquid didn’t seem to go down🤷🏼‍♀️ so extracted with a needle easily enough. I can’t think that there would be 2 x 2.5mg left ? So dosed again with needle extraction - worse case scenario I’ve given myself 5mg which didn’t really want to do!

still no side effects as such, food noise been more this week but managed by will power and actually just no urge to reach for the crap! I’ve never been very “regular” but had diarrhoea on Sunday. I had been trying a kiwi a day and had just bought prunes the day before.

Well done everyone on their journey so far!

Ofcoursehesthefkingfarmer · 01/04/2025 13:59

Argh I had a subway chicken salad for my lunch and without thinking had jalapeños on it. Almost instantly I feel absolutely shit and I’m in the office, what can I expect next?!

Bipaloss · 01/04/2025 14:15

taylorswift1989 · 01/04/2025 12:21

I'm surprised at how little weight some people on here have to lose! I'm not sure I'd risk all the side effects and expense for the sake of a couple of stone. But I'm glad if it's working for you and feels sustainable, and I know it's all relative!

Has anyone on here got a bit more to lose? I'm hoping to lose at least six stone, and could probably go to eight to be at the lower end of a healthy bmi. Would be great to connect with others who have a bit more of a journey!

I’m on a journey to loose 40kg (6st) which would bring my BMI to 24 (I’m 5’8) From SW I have 20 kg/3 st to over weight category. I am also surprised how many are here in the lower weight category especially reaching a healthy bmi within 2 weeks on the jab, having said that I think many has been recommended due to other health issues but may not have been mentioning it, I think it’s all very personal choice and up to the individual and let’s not judge. I personally don’t have any other health issues but will if I don’t shift the weight I will get. I wouldn’t give up the jab personally for minor side affects as it’s truly remarkable way of supporting my journey as I have lost same amount of weight in the last 4 weeks as I did in 4 months prior to MJ.

GameOfJones · 01/04/2025 14:31

@Fatmumslim01 I have ordered some syringes but am still unsure as to how to approach the golden dose. I'm a bit nervous about messing up extracting so I may try the hard twist method first BUT I also thought if I could get more than 0.6ml out with a syringe then that may be an option to step up the dose e.g 0.9ml may be 3.75mg (I think.)

I'm worried about doing a hard twist and then not knowing whether the jab has worked but I suppose I could mark on the pen where the liquid level is before I jab so I can check that some went in. Sorry that's a waffly way of saying I'm undecided! But I do want to do a golden dose as I'll be within the 30 days so it seems mad to throw money away if there's a dose left in the pen.

@taylorswift1989 my starting weight on Mounjaro was 14st. I was 15st 1lb last summer but had lost weight through intermittent fasting....just very slowly and had stalled for ages. To get to a healthy BMI I need to be under 10st 7lbs which feels like a long way away and I can't imagine being that weight. It's the weight I was when I was a teenager.

There's probably just over one dose left after each pen is officially done, not 2. If you managed to twist it all the way round to "1" then you'd have just administered 1 dose. Sounds like it didn't work, the most you will have extracted is maybe 0.8ml. Did you look how much was in the syringe before injecting?

I did the hard twist last week after a few attempts! Hope the next pen does it for you!

soupforbrains · 01/04/2025 15:12

Hello lovelies. Sorry for the slowness and I can’t remember who it was who asked after my well-being and how Sunday went.

it went well. A little bit grumbly tummy but no more than that. No vomiting or any other illness so definitely an improvement! I did my second half dose this morning and am feeling good too. So fingers crossed this the the solution I’ve been waiting for.

I'm still having good suppression and am losing weight. So things are looking up in the world of soup.

SharpOpalNewt · 01/04/2025 15:20

Having good suppression on 5mg but my brain/body is fighting back against the weight loss and I have stayed the same this week- after losing 10lbs in 3 and a bit weeks it's probably no bad thing.

After feeling great on 2.5mg I feel quite tired, achy and cold on 5mg. Maybe just my body adjusting to being lighter and I probably need some more magnesium and iron. Or it could be low oestrogen as I've also stopped taking the pill to see if my periods have actually stopped naturally.

soupforbrains · 01/04/2025 15:22

Oh and @taylorswift1989i am aiming for a total loss of 8 stone. I started at 19st10 in my first 4 weeks I lost 1st2lb and I’m now in my first week of my second pen (same 2.5mg dose).

I have little rewards planned for milestones. At 2 stone I am going to buy myself the Chanel sunglasses I’ve wanted for a while. 4stone I will buy myself a handbag. At 6stone I will buy something else but I haven’t decided and when I reach target I will buy myself a whole new wardrobe. assuming I can afford it!

Flaitch · 01/04/2025 15:23

Measured out just over 60 in the syringe then let it “leak” til 60. Only time will tell 🤣

That's a brilliant loss! I'm excited for you and look forward to hearing about your celebrations when you achieve all these milestones!

Honestly am excited for everyone losing weight and especially for the NSVs of feeling better and fitter and regaining lost confidence and all of it. Really hoping it will work for me too!

FrozenFractal · 01/04/2025 16:15

@taylorswift1989 I have 5st to lose, starting at just over 16st. Although if I get down to 11st, at 5ft7, I will be at the very top of healthy range. I do remember feeling great at that weight though and can’t imagine being another stone or two lighter but we shall see when we get there! I’m also mindful that BMI is a massive oversimplification.

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 01/04/2025 16:22

Day 2 after my first injection and I’m starving! When does the suppression kick in? 🤣 I’ve been trying to drink as much water as I can but our tap water isn’t that nice.

GameOfJones · 01/04/2025 16:33

@soupforbrains that is great news that you weren't sick, I'm really pleased for you and hope it continues to work well for you splitting the dose!

PoundsLost · 01/04/2025 16:41

@taylorswift1989 I have 5 stone to lose - it will get me into the very top end of BMI and I’d be happy with that. Could lose another 2 and be firmly within healthy parameters but it’ll never happen.

That is what I am treating myself to Chanel sunglasses, I think a little treat is needed.

I need a new pair of leggings as mine are now falling off me.

hi everyone, end of week 4 for me today, total weightloss is 11lb. but got measured in my gym and metabolic age has gone from 59 to 39 (im 44), muscle mass from 58.4kg to 62kg, bmi from 45 to 43 and body fat from 46% to 41.2%. I am so happy and look forward to the next 4 weeks. i will be attempting the golden dose tomorrow morning.

You never know! But yes, I know what you mean - I'll be happy if I get to the top of the bmi range for my height. Anything more is a bonus!

soupforbrains · 01/04/2025 18:21

@GameOfJonesthank you. Fingers crossed.

@AintNobodyHereButUsChickensit really varies from person to person. Remember that these injections are made up of hormones which the body is supposed to produce naturally. How fast, how strong and at what dose you feel the effects will depend on what level your body normally is producing the hormones. For example people whose bodies basically don’t produce it at all tend to see immediate efffects on the 2.5mg (although they also tend to have more side effects) while people whose bodies produce the hormone but not at a high enough rate may not see significant effects until they are on a higher dose. And of course for some people they never see an effect (because they aren’t actually missing these hormones normally).

As a general comment I’ve been meaning to make in this chat for a couple of weeks I just wanted to warn people about putting too much value on the assorted ‘measurements’ that their smart scales are doing.

We all know that BMI is a basic height weight calculation and that it’s not a reliable indicator of fitness or health. But it’s important that you all know that the ‘percentage body fat’ your scales tell you is basically the same. Your scales are only capable of measuring one thing. Weight. They are not scanning or measuring anything else. All they do is stick the weight into a calculation with. Your height and using the ‘expected’ weight of muscle/organs/bones etc. in an ‘average’ person of that height, it calculates the difference and decides that’s all fat.

I only mention this because a few people have said things like ‘I’m struggling to eat enough protein but my scales are still showing that body fat percentage is going down’. In short as long as your weight is going down your scale will tell you that your fat % is going down. It CANNOT assess accurately or know if you are losing muscle mass or fat. It just assumes that all weight lost is fat.

soupforbrains · 01/04/2025 18:25

Oh and @AintNobodyHereButUsChickensi also live in an area with awful tap water but to be honest I’m crap at drinking unflavoured water anyway. I’ve been drinking tons of the Volvic sugar free strawberry water. In Food Warehouse you can get 6x1.5L bottles for £6 and sometimes they’re on offer from that. I’m basically drinking one a day and then ‘topping up’ my fluids with other drinks.

alternatively squash is good. So long as you’re getting the fluids in and staying hydrated then it doesn’t actually matter what it is you’re drinking. (Although obviously super calorific, high fat and/or acidic stuff would be problematic).

Overjiggly · 01/04/2025 18:59

@taylorswift1989 I have 7st 2lb to lose if I want to be in the top end of healthy bmi. Seems a long long way off especially given the side effects I had last week.

Well done everyone on their losses.
I did a sneaky weigh and despite not jabbing so I could recover a bit I've still lost weight. 1lb off a stone. I did say upthread I'd treat myself to a new moisturiser for 1 stone so thinking of Jamaican bum bum cream or a collagen one maybe clarins, something firming anyway!

Day 2 after my first injection and I’m starving! When does the suppression kick in? 🤣 I’ve been trying to drink as much water as I can but our tap water isn’t that nice.

Bottled water!! I hate our tap water and drink so much squash making it palatable. I now go to Aldi and get 2 packs of 6x2L of bottled water. It is sooooo much nicer.
I'm on week 4 day 3 and I find my supression comes and goes. I was gardening earlier and could have eaten a scabby horse. Dinner is on Tue stove so had a date to tide me over and I'm fine again... It will come.

Edensnapz · 01/04/2025 19:49

Well done on all the great losses so far.

Week 4 check in

SW 14st 2lb
CW 13st 1.5lb

I've lost a smidge over 1stone in 4 weeks!!

I'm amazed it's so much and to be honest I would like this to slow down (which I'm sure it will after water weight loss etc) as i want sustainable not quick. I don't think I've been eating enough and need to put more thought into daily intake to ensure I'm getting enough.

Supression still consistent and no cravings, so I'm staying on 2.5mg for the next month.

NSV alert 🚨- I've just managed to get my eternity ring off, which I haven't been able to take off for over a year. Almost cried with relief, but I now have an unsightly indentation where it was 😶‍🌫️

Next goal, to be able to get my wedding ring back on! Haven't worn it for well over a year and I miss wearing it.

TheSpoonyNavyReader · 01/04/2025 11:24

Hi all

I would like to know if anyone is going to treat themselves to something when they hit a target or goal.

When I hit 2 stone loss, I am treating myself some new sunglasses and some Botox which I have had a few times before.

I am looking back over photos from the last 2 year or so and I am shocked how I have let myself go. I always took great pride in my appearance, wore well cut clothes that looked good, put make up on, did my hair but looking at the few photos in the last 2 years I can see that I was hiding behind leggings and sweatshirts, and generally not liking myself perhaps even hating myself. I have tried to diet in the last 2 years and nothing would happen (thanks HRT)

The last 5 weeks have been revolutionary for me, I am finally putting myself first and doing something for me, and it is bloody working. Sorry for the long post but you guys are the only people that I have told that I am doing MJ.

Spoony, talk to me about Botox.. I’ve never had it and I’m interested for further down the weight loss journey. I’m 39 (40 in the summer) and my face is quite round and plump- definitely a moon face! But I’m worried about sag/“ozempic face” as I lose, now I’m older than I have been when I’ve been slimmer before. My neck in particular is the first area showing signs… can one get neck Botox?! What’s the cost like, the pain, how long does it last?
