Welcome to thread 2 never thought we would be posting so much that we have to start a new thread.

I am still hovering around 12 and a half stone. I have been absolutely freezing to the point I have a duvet on the sofa.

I have had one NSV so far I can zip up my boots and they do not feel tight anymore.

Morning all. Definitely think being cold is a side effect - I'm freezing! But I can put up with it for the weight loss - W2D4 and I'm down 6.4lb now. I didn't do any exercise bar walking last week - was a bit nervous of side effects but am now going to reintroduce my usual exercise routine (cardio x3, weights x3) and see how I manage it. Has anyone found it hard to exercise?

GameOfJones · 17/03/2025 09:44

Morning everyone and thanks for the new thread!

I'm feeling a bit out of sorts today (Week 2, jabbed on Saturday). I've been feeling lightheaded and a bit dizzy. It first started yesterday evening and I put it down to having a glass of wine with dinner as I felt I'd eaten OK (fruit salad for breakfast with a milky coffee, cheese and crackers and fruit juice for lunch and a pasta and veg dish for dinner.)

But this morning I'm still feeling a bit lightheaded. I did feel like this last Monday on week 1 so I'm hoping it disappears. I can't tell whether it's the Mounjaro, because I'm not eating regularly enough or because I've pretty much completely cut out refined sugar. I haven't had anything sweet other than some fruit in two weeks.

I've just been approved for my second pen and have ordered the 5mg but I think I'm going to start out with 3.75mg dosing to ease myself into it. Regarding maintenance, I agree with @cmh18 that it is probably best approached from a couple of directions. I do 16-8 intermittent fasting amd have done for the past year. I lost a stone without changing the sort of foods I was eating at all but then hit a plateau. I'm hoping it's a good way of maintaining the weight I lose and has just become my lifestyle now as I feel so good on it.

I'm trying to focus during this time on Mounjaro on improving my diet and including many more whole foods, home cooked meals and less processed stuff. I'm not perfect, but in the main I've really enjoyed my meals and the shopping bill has greatly reduced by buying mainly whole foods and unprocessed stuff.

cmh18 · 17/03/2025 09:03

I'm only on week 2, but regards maintenance I think that working on your relationship with food will help in the long term. Prior to starting I had been working with a dietician to help me deal with my binge eating tendencies and managing the food noise, when I started mounjaro I'd made huge progress with this. The reason I started the jabs was because although my eating was more ordered I was still struggling to lose weight. I do believe that working on the underlying issues is hugely important, and I feel that approaching the issue from more than one direction will help with long term results.p

Totally agree and it’s such a good point to raise.

For me, I’d just like to be on mounjaro long enough to bed in the habits. I don’t want to hit a BMI of 24/25 and then have to come off cold turkey.

Thanks to the previous poster who recommended Oushk - they look great actually. I might swap over straight away, as the prices are comparable.

Checking in on the new thread ☺️

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 17/03/2025 10:12

I oy did my first jab yesterday, but haven't told anyone and really struggling with nit being able to talk to people about it!

With regard to eating, if you don't feel like it, do you make yourself have something small?

springdays100 · 17/03/2025 10:13

Good morning and thanks for the new thread.
Checking in after week 1, and have had a great start so feeling very positive. However, I’ve also had a bad cold at the same time so have struggled to know what’s from that and what’s from MJ!

SW 13st 12. BMI = 31.3
CW 13st 6 BMI = 30.3
TW 10st BMI = 22.6. Although we will see - have never weighted anything like this in about 30 years!!

I do as I don't want my body to miss out on nutrients and I don't want my calories to drop too low. I've got some biscoff protein powder and use that with milk, banana and a few dates to make a smoothie and have that if i dont feel like eating. Over the last 9 days I don't think I've dropped below 1500 cals and I've still lost 6lb.

SmiffyR · 17/03/2025 11:08

Hi everyone, hope it’s ok for me to join late! I’ve just been approved for MJ under SheMed, waiting for my pen to arrive and will start on Friday. Any tips on how to prepare for the first dose much appreciated!

CW: 90kg
TW: 70kg

Hi all! @TheSpoonyNavyReader thanks for thread 2, it's great to have other people on this journey too.

This drug has changed my life! For years I have fought my weight. Tried every diet. Exercised to exhaustion. To lose nothing at the end of the week having had 7 miserable days. MJ has taken away all cravings and has almost reset my body and mind. Instead of reaching for chocolate crisp or biscuits, I'd rather a handful of nuts. I eat my 3 meals but I'm not bothered about food in between.

I have PCOS and this has obviously been a major cause of my weight gain which is all collected around my middle. MJ seems to have calmed all my hormones, how can one drug do this? For those still considering it... DO IT!!! I've had no gastric side effects and currently feeling the best I have felt for years

Firefly45 · 17/03/2025 11:14

Took 2nd jab yesterday. Lost 1lb in the first week which I did with sheer willpower. Had nausea and felt rubbish but not really had any food suppression. Feeling bit gutted but trying to stay positive.

SharpOpalNewt · 17/03/2025 11:14

I seem to be feeling less suppression after jab three, which is odd as I now have 3mg in my system according to Shotsy. I was very active at the weekend though so that would account for being more hungry. Also I guess my body is getting used to it. I have lost 5.5lbs in two weeks though and have had very minimal side effects and I feel pretty good. I will almost certainly need to go to 5mg after the final dose of 2.5mg though.

Whereareallthewellhungmen · 17/03/2025 11:26

Can I just ask you all - those who aren't telling your partners - why? 🤔

KeepLookingUp · 17/03/2025 11:29

Hi all, am a bit late posting but I had my first jab last Wednesday and so far so good. I can’t resist daily weigh ins and looks like I’m 3 lbs down. Only side effects are weird taste in mouth (but that could be the high protein) and feeling cold. Here are my stats…
SW: 208 lbs
CW: 205.5
TW: 140 lbs
I’m 50 and on HRT. Have been on every diet ever invented!
This is going great so far 😊

Whereareallthewellhungmen · 17/03/2025 11:26

For me, I feel really embarrassed that I can't do it on my own. My partner is a relative new one (a year) and has only ever known me being fat. But until a few years ago, I've spent all my life being slim and am really struggling with the "new" me. He's very active, and can eat what he wants. If he puts a bit of weight on, he just stops eating chocolate and loses it. I'm also worried about failing.

Firefly45 · 17/03/2025 11:37

I've not told many friends or family because people are so judgemental about jabs.
Those without any food issues/weight issues often say 'just eat less and move more'.

Those who do have food and weight issues often declare jabs won't work/nonsense/cheating/will put it all back on again.

It's hard enough doing these jabs and changing lifestyle without getting battered with negative comments so easier to just quietly try and see if it works or not.

I know it might not be the answer and it might not work and I might but weight back on but I want to at least know I've tried.

vickypathsofglorysea · 17/03/2025 11:39

Sleepeazie · 17/03/2025 08:39

morning, I am week 2 day 9!
I was a total of 7.1 pounds down yesterday (scale shows a little jump today).

I was due to jab yesterday and didn’t.. I’m not really sure why. I keep building each injection up in my head, and I just couldn’t face it.

As I said earlier in the first thread, the jab quietened my thoughts (strongly suspected AuDHD like my ds). Well, I’ve kind of felt myself sliding into a really low mood. I’m not sure whether it’s the jab (maybe it’s acting on my ADHD but not autistic traits), or my HRT which I’ve only been on a few months.

One of the reasons I started the HRT was low moods, which I’ve never had before and were clearly hormonal.

Up until starting mounjaro I really felt the HRT had made me like my old self. So I’m not sure. It could also just be a point in my cycle.

So I’ve taken my HRT patch off (Thursday) and not jabbed.

Anyway, I have no extra food noise yet, so I’ll decide on the next couple of days whether to carry on.

Has anybody else felt low? I know it can be a symptom.

Yes, I am feeling a little low today. My first jab was on Friday and since then I've had vague nausea, slight tummy pain and extreme tiredness. Today I am feeling a bit low as well. On the up side, it's definitely easier to eat less and eat healthily. I am hoping for good things when I weigh in on Friday.

PlexGirl34 · 17/03/2025 11:42

Morning all thanks for the new thread. Happy to be able to join such a good group and be open about starting my journey on MJ.

half way and 3lb down really please here’s hoping it continues for me and all you lovelies.

Whereissummer24 · 17/03/2025 11:43

Hi, hoping its not too late to join.
Am awaiting delivery of my first dose. Currently 92Kg and hoping to get to 70 something!
Initially i was so skeptical of the jabs but having made a concerted effort to lose weight and seen the odd kg drop and come back I've jumped in.
Mentioned it to my husband who was not in favour - he is of the eat less move more brigade and naturally slim but I'm so fed up of nothing fitting and feeling like crap i've signed up. Am planning to get in the gym and go back to low carb so hopefully i can get some good habits set up.

TheSpoonyNavyReader · 17/03/2025 11:44

Whereareallthewellhungmen · 17/03/2025 11:26

I have not told him, as he believes that anyone that eats right and exercises should be able to lose weight and not get fat… He goes to the gym for an hour a day and has a job where he can be very active. He would also see me as taking WLI as the “easy” way out.

I am peri menopausal, an under active thyroid gland, recent bereavement, 4 kids, a full time job, ) 2 dogs and I don’t have time like him to go into the gym for an hour

I was once very slim probably until CV19 and then age caught up with me and I can’t shift the weight no matter what I was doing.

I am losing weight for myself and no one else and quite frankly I think no one else needs to know.

soupforbrains · 17/03/2025 11:45

On the maintenance side of things. I am using Lloyds pharmacy because they were recommended by my cousin who completed her MJ weight loss journey last year. Lloyds have kept her on a maintenance dose after reaching goal weight. So there definitely are some services which allow and provide for maintenance doses.

Im uncertain about staying on a maintenance dose because my side effects are fairly extreme so if they stay like this I will not be wanting to stay on MJ forever. But I’m confident that once the weight is off it will open many exercise doors which weren’t an option for me before. Which will allow me to to maintain. Especially as although I am massively overweight. I have been maintaining a stable weight for over a year now. So I do have faith that my eating routines and habits as I have them now are able to maintain a stable weight for

Sleepeazie · 17/03/2025 11:45

@vickypathsofglorysea aw I’m sorry you’re not feeling great either. I hope it’s just your settling in reaction and quickly passes.

Mother Nature has made an appearance for me, so i’m thinking it might be an extreme pmt as I was on HRT with no idea where my cycles actually were (and I’m on patches that should follow it, so I guess if they’ve got out of sync - this could explain it).

I’ll see how i feel in the next couple of days. My pen has been open 16 days today and I have 2 more shots - so a bit of wiggle room to delay. On the plus side I’m still not hungry!

Lollzi86 · 17/03/2025 11:46

W3 D1 here. Had my jab and weighed in. 3 pounds off but a bit disappointing as I weigh daily as well and had lost that 3 pounds by Thursday last week so essentially not lost anything since even though I have been really good, logged everything and done lots of walks. Still, fingers crossed for a whoosh effect at some point this week and it’s still 11 pounds off in total in 2 weeks. Just a bit scared as I go away this weekend and we will be eating out and having a few drinks….hoping the steps I will do might stop any potential gain!

LordGaGaisasahd · 17/03/2025 12:06

It's the MyProtein impact soy protein in Speculoos flavour. It's also good in baked porridge. I think the soy protein tastes better than the regular powders
