@aylis you shouldn't be bleeding after injecting. Maybe watch some videos about how to do the injections?

I didn't bleed tge first week and injected into my stomach. But this week I did it in my thigh and bled 😟

Bluehels · 22/02/2025 13:31

After yesterdays disappointment with gaining on my third week I picked myself back up and got on with it.

I toyed with increasing my dose early but the thought of having side effects put me off, so I stuck with it and did my last 2.5mg dose. I had a brief play with the pen to see if I could get another dose out but I could only turn it for another 9 clicks. I think if I could have clicked it further I might of risked it. My syringes turned up today so next week I can try and get the bonus dose out.

Last week I had injected into my stomach however I had no suppression. So I tried my thigh again. Today I have suppression again?!?!

Has anyone else found a different suppression from different injection sites??

Bluehels · 22/02/2025 13:32

Feb2025start · 22/02/2025 08:48

Not yet no. I have a 'bonus' fifth dose left of the 2.5mg pen which looks to be about one full dose, so o was going to do that plus 15 clicks of the 5mg pen next week to get 3.75mg, then the other 45 clicks for a second 3.75mg the following week, then up to 5mg. I've been lucky with side effects so far and I'm a bit worried jumping straight to 5mg will cause me to get the dreaded gastric issues others have had! Plus obviously don't want to waste the bonus dose 😆

This is what I was considering doing next week. Although Im feeling a bit nervous of using an actual syringe.

I injected into my thigh too. I used to get similar pen injections in my stomach after my c-section and didn't bleed so wonder if it's site-related

Would love to hear anyone’s recipes. I made this for dinner last night it was so good:

https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/marry-me-chicken

It says serve with mash but I didn’t bother with that. Just had lots of green beans to accompany. Could easily have substituted the cream for Greek yoghurt but my calorie deficit was massive yesterday, so just went for the full fat cream. Family loved it too.

This is one of our favourites!
I love cooking and have tonnes of recipe books

SilentRetreat · 22/02/2025 13:50

1st week done and 6lbs down. Zero side effects.

@Feb2025start tells about this bonus dose..... how do I get that?!
(Am very new to this it seems!!!)

Lots of people do it, and there are threads here on how to do it with forcing the pen and using syringes and all sorts. What it does is force the buffer liquid that is left in the pen out and use as a 5th ‘dose’. The buffer is actually there to make sure you have 4 equal doses and enough spare to prime the pen.
It is definitely not recommended to do it though, as you’ve got no way of ensuring that the ‘extra’ dose is measured, plus you risk infection with extra needles apparently.
I won’t be touching it with a barge pole.
You choice though - loads do and seem more than happy with it! Plus obviously it saves cash!

partyfoodpickingpiggy · 22/02/2025 15:51

@SpiralSister

Each to their own on the bonus dose it's a personal decision. I wasn't interested at first but now as I have got used to injecting with the pen and from what I have read I'm going to give it a go.

My syringes have been delivered from med basic (clean and sterile)and ready to go for Tuesday.

You mentioned about there being no way of ensuring that the extra dose is measured.
My syringes have measurements on them so I will be taking and ensuring I have the correct dose of 0.60
Perhaps if you forced the pen it might be trickier to tell what dose you were having.

Oh absolutely. I imagine it’s probably all fine, I was just reporting what the official guidance is. It just happens to be a risk I don’t want to take, especially as a new starter, but as you say, each to their own.

Febnewbie · 22/02/2025 15:59

@partyfoodpickingpiggy same here - I personally wouldn't force the pen as I am a bit nervous about the dosing amount, but the syringe takes care of that

I also feel more comfortable with a proper medical supplies site like med basic not some random Amazon seller on the syringes

But with those caveats in place I feel fine about it

OverTheTopOfTheMountain · 22/02/2025 15:59

Well today I’ve bought a new set of scale. Weight myself today and realised what I’m getting is all over the place. So I actually have no idea if I’ve lost weight or not or how much.
😂😂😂

billysboy · 22/02/2025 17:07

Took 3rd jab this morning I have lost 6lb over two weeks
I am just about to re order
no side effects other than a bit of constipation

CarBootQueef · 22/02/2025 17:57

SW 15st 8lb
CW 14st 10lb

Week 2 weight in and jab today and I've lost a further 4.6lb off this week totals 12lb in 2 week.

I am so pleased with the progress but can't help think it's all a little quick and I might be at risk of gallbladder issues. I'm trying to make sure I hit at least 1000-1200 calories a day and plenty of protein.

Marypoppinsisnosaint · 22/02/2025 18:18

Evening all,

Trying to fight the urge to get in the scales everyday 😂

Only on w1D4 but I do feel like I'm changing shape. My coat definitely fitting better as I can comfortably do it up now ☺️

Question... Has anyone not told a soul? I've not even told my husband. Everyone I knows opinion on the jabs is quite negative.

Everything is currently hidden in the box it came in the outside garage amongst all the garden ornaments. I know for a fact he'll not go in them 😂

I've told one friend and my daughter. Lots of other friends are really judgy, to the point of being unkind about anyone who even considers it so I'm not telling anyone else.
I've managed to stay off the scales other than weekly but it's tempting. I've put the scales behind the tumble dryer so it's a faff to get them out, it's worked so far!

MJSpideySenses · 22/02/2025 18:25

I'm a bit of a rule follower so probably won't be taking the bonus dose 😅 I get why people do though.

My lovely DS has just made me some cornflake chicken thing he saw a recipe for on TikTok because it said it was high protein and low calorie. I had it with jasmine rice, katsu sauce and fresh chilli slices. It was delicious and very filling.

I'm loving fruit at the moment and usually have fruit for breakfast and then some more with lunch.

0987654321q · 22/02/2025 18:27

I haven't told anyone. I weigh every day. Everyone I knows who maintains their weight really well, does.

After lurking on another thread I'm going to try The Family Chemist and stop using Oushk.

Oushk is too branded and you can't say a negative word in the FB group before the fans come out in force.

I also don't like their discreet branded is packaging covered in Os. You can pay 50p more for no Os which I don't care about but I don't like the direction they seem to be heading.

MJSpideySenses · 22/02/2025 18:32

I've only told DH. He's been great and likens it to using gum or nicotine patches to quit smoking. He asked a few questions when I first told him as he didn't know anything about it and that's it.

I suspect my sister is on mounjaro too but I won't be asking her. She's about a month ahead of me and is doing great with her diet 😄 She probably knows I am but doesn't want to ask outright.

Mounjaronewbie25 · 22/02/2025 18:36

DP and I are both doing Mounjaro so he knows I’m doing it, but have not told anyone else.
I will admit I was one of the judgey negative people before I understood what the drug actually does and how it helps weight loss.

OntheTrainX · 22/02/2025 18:50

I’ve told no one.

I was a bit wary of it myself until recently. Maybe the long-term impact is unknown, I get that argument. But my thought process is that obesity is often a life-limiter, scientists know that for sure, and we all know that it can be a hindrance. So….

aylis · 22/02/2025 18:54

I don't know if it's a placebo effect or if I'm already experiencing a benefit but I've not been hugely hungry today. I've made sure I've eaten and it will total about 1600 calories which I'm really good with. I had to eat my dinner in two sittings as I was feeling too full. I would love to know if it is the mounjaro or if the act of taking it means I'm listening to my body.

I've had a headache since this afternoon, again not sure if that's mounjaro or a coincidence.

Feb2025start · 22/02/2025 18:54

@aylis @Febnewbie I'm definitely seeing the loss in my face and stomach! My double chin has nearly disappeared and my general face bloat. I have an actual waistline again, and realised on getting out of the shower earlier that a 'normal' size bath towel (not the massive 'bath sheet' ones I usually use) actually went round me without my belly poking out the front 😆

@0987654321q I used Oushk for my first pen as I'd heard good things and wanted to be sure that it was a reputable/well established provider and that I'd get guidance/support if I needed it (I was pretty nervous initially!). However it turned out that I didn't really need any extra support and I've switched to Pillsorted for my next pen - saved about 50 quid compared to Oushk and the whole switching and ordering process was quick and easy. Think I'll switch again for the next pen too, possibly to Medicine Market Place. I don't really see what Oushk offers that makes it worth the price tbh!

Feb2025start · 22/02/2025 19:03

@Marypoppinsisnosaint I have told my DH now, but didn't for the first couple of weeks as he can be pretty cynical about 'fads' etc - plus I wanted a bit of time to see how I got on with it without any external pressure! Luckily I've had minimal side effects and a good loss right from the start (which he'd noticed and commented on) so I told him a few days ago - he's been really positive and decided to go for it himself too, which I'm VERY happy about as he's got a lot more to lose than me.

Now I'm feeling the pressure/anxiety (after singing its praises to him!) that it'll either not work as well or quickly for him, or he'll get terrible side effects... we're on his day 2 so fingers crossed 😬

ThursdaysMonkey · 22/02/2025 19:11

Ooh gish I've got to mive into this thread already and I've only done my 2nd jab this morning!

Can I ask- if you find 2.5mg is working well, are there any disadvantages or advantages to moving up to 5mg?

Marypoppinsisnosaint · 22/02/2025 19:17

I'm so glad it's not just me!

I will eventually tell him I think but I guess I'm waiting for the results to mainly justify the cost of it 😂😂

At the beginning of the year I did make a real effort around food, not just for me but the family. I started making more homemade meals, more filling meals and was more mindful of what I was putting in my mouth (finishing kids teas, eating stuff in the work canteen) so I had lost just over 10lb doing that. I'm using that as my excuse if anyone asks 😂

Properly tracking now though, so we'll see how it goes ☺️
