Thank you… have you started 5? How’s it been?

Not yet no. I have a 'bonus' fifth dose left of the 2.5mg pen which looks to be about one full dose, so o was going to do that plus 15 clicks of the 5mg pen next week to get 3.75mg, then the other 45 clicks for a second 3.75mg the following week, then up to 5mg. I've been lucky with side effects so far and I'm a bit worried jumping straight to 5mg will cause me to get the dreaded gastric issues others have had! Plus obviously don't want to waste the bonus dose 😆

Feb2025start · 22/02/2025 08:52

Poppins17 · 22/02/2025 07:30

How do you get a 3.75 level please?

3.75 on a 5mg pen is 45 clicks (as a full dose is 60). Or if you have a full 2.5mg dose as a bonus dose, that plus 15 clicks of the 5mg. I think somebody has a table somewhere which is handy for those of us not so great at maths (ie me 🤣)

Feb2025start · 22/02/2025 08:56

Congrats everyone on their losses! I'm on week 4 but my weigh in will have to wait until tomorrow as I'm away today with no scales. Haven't seen much change over this week compared to the previous two, and suppression is definitely lower, so am anticipating very minor losses (if at all...). I'm so ready for a higher dose now!

Choux · 22/02/2025 08:58

Romanswindowcleaner · 22/02/2025 07:39

@Poppins17 you don’t wind it all the way around to 1 : you count the clicks and have less than a full dose. Someone may be able to post a handy table with the exact number of clicks! I’m only on week 1 day 6 but I was planning on trying 5 weeks at 3.75 on a 5mg pen

having had massive suppression for 4 days I woke up feeling hungry on day 5 today.

Feeling hungry on Day 5 is not a sign that Mounjaro isn't working or the dose is too low. Feeling hungry is normal and no one should be looking or total suppression / trying to eat zero. That's not healthy.

Ideally you will still, feel hunger but be satisfied by 2-3 small meals a day and will not need snacks, treats etc and the mounjaro helps you to make better choices when you do eat.

Because you do the injection weekly and Mounjaro has a half life of 5 days almost everyone feels less suppression and more hunger on days 5-7. Even on 15mg. Over the course of a week you might eat 7-10k calories (equivalent to 1,000 to 1,500 a day but it probably won't be evenly spread each day). I've finished my weight loss now but I always found I ate less on days 1-4 post injection as the suppression was strongest, got my lowest weight of the week on day 4 and then ate a bit more on days 5-7. I timed my injection so days 5-7 were the weekend so I could see friends, attend events etc and eat a bit more normally (they didn't know I was on Mounjaro)

Month 1 can bring some big losses but, as you move up the doses you are looking for a dose that gives you some but not total suppression with no adverse side effects and that allows you to still be social / live your life. It's a marathon not a sprint.

aylis · 22/02/2025 08:59

First dose today! Found it a bit weird as I don't see any liquid in the pen but also I didn't expect to bleed so much at the injection site 🤣 Made me feel a bit woozy and normally blood doesn't bother me 😬

Acolite · 22/02/2025 09:13

Well done on the losses.
@Choux thank you, I think your post was really helpful. I’m only on W1D6 but I am certainly finding this. I want to be able to be able to loosen the reins a bit at the weekend. I injected on Sunday evening purely serendipitously.

We usually have a takeaway Saturday night, which we will still have. Daughter’s choice today, so I think it’ll either be curry or Turkish. I am hoping she will chose Turkish, then I can still to falafels, hummus, couscous and salad. Not sure I can stomach much curry yet.

I haven’t started exercising yet. I do walk a fair bit but want to add in a bit more cardio and do some strength training to try and minimise muscle loss. I’m trying to get my motivation up to start today. i don’t really have any excuses not to.

Herefordian · 22/02/2025 09:24

@Choux - that's a really balanced way to look at it, thank you for posting that.

4th injection for me today
SW 13st 11lb
CW 13st 1lb (bmi 30.5)

I'm very happy with that. My neighbour has noticed I've lost weight but she is very weight/image conscious. My clothes feel slightly looser and the tape measure reckons I've lost 2 inches from my waist.

I will try 5mg next week and see how I feel. Like everyone, I'm desperate to reach a more healthy weight but I want a permanent shift in my relationship with food and alcohol even more.

WLINewbie · 22/02/2025 09:25

Day 8
AKA Week 2, day 1
AKA injection day 😁😁😁

Felt quite hungry when I went to bed last night but I'm usually ravenous despite eating enough food for a small family so I can live with that.

Although I still have an appetite and am eating properly, the freedom of not feeling starving and thinking of food constantly is euphoric.

I've spent all my life eating vast amounts (e.g I could easily eat a whole bag of cooked pasta with sauce, cheese etc) and my stomach feeling empty and hungry 30 mins later. I'd eat at least 200g protein daily as they say it makes you feel full, never for me. I could eat a family size dairy milk as a snack and want more.

I've hated myself for this all these years, never understood why I felt that way, was disgusted that I couldn't just choose health. I'd run 10km and get a mcdonalds on the way back.

I'm now enjoying meals, my stomach doesn't hurt, it's incredible.

RememberDecember · 22/02/2025 09:27

@Acolite im same as you at W1D6 and definitely noticed the effects waning on day 5. I suppose good that it can make for a more normal weekend though!
I was considering jabbing today as I ideally wanted to move jab day over time to a Thursday but I don’t think I will try that, maybe further down the line. Now need to just not eat half the sourdough loaf sitting on the side!

Febnewbie · 22/02/2025 09:37

Has anyone else noticed that they have lost differently to normal on a diet?

My tummy fat usually really clings on but that's where it seems to have come off first with MJ

SansaClegane · 22/02/2025 09:48

@Febnewbie I've noticed that too, although I think it might be down to not eating so much bread / bready products anymore, as they really bloat me?
It's a nice side effect though, as the big stomach is what I've hated the most in the recent months (years? 🙈)

Yes!!! A not unwelcome side effect.

My under-eye circles have reduced a bit also. I’m assuming all the water has helped. I drink loads.

incognitomummy · 22/02/2025 11:37

@Feb2025start tells about this bonus dose..... how do I get that?!
(Am very new to this it seems!!!)

Mounjaronewbie25 · 22/02/2025 12:26

Weigh in time for me.

Mounjaro SW - 14st 12
CW - 14st 8

Loss this week: 4 lbs
Total loss: 4 lbs

Happy with 4 pounds off in my first week. Had already lost some weight myself before starting Mounjaro so wasn’t expecting a huge number.

DP has done really well too and lost 11 pounds this week. Makes it a bit easier that we are doing this together.

Off to go and give myself my second 2.5mg injection now.

I've got a new indent on each knee, trust me to lose weight from the weirdest place first 🤣 My chin (s) seems a bit sharper, so maybe I'm starting from the top and bottom and eventually we'll get to the middle section....
My skin seems to be liking all the water, prior to this I shamefully drank only tea or coffee all day long!

SpiralSister · 22/02/2025 12:29

Hello! So the lesson is, I can no longer have 3 glasses of wine after not drinking wine all week 😂

Feeling a bit despondent as the scales haven’t moved, on the other hand I’ve off for a cold swim and my tum definitely looks flatter in my bathers this week. So something has happened!

Have a good weekend, all!

Haha!

I also noticed last night that my shin bone is poking out more which is a weird place to lose from.

I seem to be losing from my tummy (hurray!), face and err shins

Usually I lose from my boobs.

It's weird.

When I was researching Mounjaro and trying to decide whether to try it, I saw quite a lot of before/after/in progress pictures and I really noticed that it seems to make a difference on stomach fat, like it really jumps out. I would love to know why that is!

For me I've read people say their face is less puffy as well as slimming down and I really hope for that.

Edited

I am fascinated by it. I am not exaggerating when I say I felt like my tummy visibly deflated overnight after my first dose. I haven't even lost weight really but my tummy is so much smaller.

Is it inflammation? I am thrilled but I guess there is part of me that worries it will come back when I am eventually off the medication

Horseradish001 · 22/02/2025 12:45

I took my first dose last night. Feels like I've got a lot of weight to lose (I'm 96kg bmi just under 35 and I'd like to be mid healthy bmi).
I found the pen really fiddly, but I presume it will get easier.

Things have definitely kicked in overnight and I've got decent appetite suppression already, which I wasn't expecting so soon. It's so weird not just thinking about what I'm going to eat next constantly.

Hi Horseradish001. I am a few days ahead of you. 98kg and around 35 bmi. I want to lose around 30kg which will take me down to my ideal healthy weight. Anything else would be a bonus. I felt the same as you for the first few days and 4 days in I'm worried I might be constipated. Would advise to drink loads!

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 22/02/2025 12:55

@aylis you shouldn't be bleeding after injecting. Maybe watch some videos about how to do the injections?

Ragdollmummy1977 · 22/02/2025 12:56

What’s this magic dose everyone is talking about. I am only on my second week so not sure but keep seeing everyone talking about it.
is this safe ?
How do you get it ?

TIA

Crunk · 22/02/2025 13:19

3rd dose yesterday for me, so 2 fulls weeks in.

SW: 15,7
CW: 14,13

very happy with an 8lb loss. Time to think about the next dose and I’m happy with how I’m feeling so a bit worried about a move to 5mg. Will have to hop on to the January thread to see how they found it.

wont be messing around with “bonus” doses even though I’ve got spare needles.

I did - also in the leaflet it mentions just to press with gauze. It stopped quickly so I'm not worried!
