@Poppins17 I panic-ordered my second pen in my second week of the first, mainly because of all the new prescribing rules being discussed (I lost quite quickly in the first week or so and was already getting close to being 'overweight' rather than 'obese', so was worried if the rules got stricter I might be ineligible!). Although the 2.5mg was definitely working I decided to go for a 5mg for a few reasons - firstly, in case I felt I needed to (a few people on this board had mentioned getting a second 2.5mg pen and then basically losing the appetite suppression halfway through); secondly, because my side effects have been minimal so that's not a major concern; and thirdly, because if I DID get bad side effects or something I could always drop down to a half or 3/4 dose by reducing the clicks.

@WelshRarebit79 I switched for my second pen and had to send in photos again, but it really wasn't much hassle. I saved about £50 by switching - so a couple of extra hoops to jump through were worth it IMO!

Has anyone been monitoring their blood sugar since starting earlier in the month? Just wondering if anyone has noticed a positive stabilising impact fairly quickly.

FunnyCrabDance · 21/02/2025 16:22

3rd injection done.
SW - 15 st 8 lb
CW - 15 st 2 lb
GW - 11 stone.
Lost 2lb on week 2, which is kind of what I expected.
I definitely will be going up to 5mg as soon as I can.
I think i saw other people mention period related side effects, mines late, although Im also perimenopausal so might not be mounjaro at all 🤔
Enjoying the thread, everyone seems to be doing really well 😊

Mounjaronewbie25 · 21/02/2025 17:48

Due to take my second 2.5mg injection tomorrow. I feel like suppression had worn off by yesterday.

The food noise thing is weird. Like I’ve no interest in getting say a chippy or a McDonalds (normally that type of craving could consume my thoughts for hours) but after a meal I still feel like I want to have a sweet treat, but it’s not a craving as such, more of a habit and just eating it because it is there, not because I necessarily want it? I don’t know how to explain it.

Anyway I won’t be buying any more biscuits for the house to cut that out.

Will definitely be going up to 5mg for the next pen to hopefully get better effects.

Is anyone else really struggling to follow this thread or is it just me 😂 I keep losing people’s replies and links and can’t quite keep up!

are there any groups on other social sites?(sorry if that is not allowed to be asked)

Thanks xx

I wanna reply to loads but also can't keep up there are 140+ of us on the thread tho so it's pretty tricky and hard without profile photos. I did find groups on FB but they're large and full of repeated questions.

eleanorwish · 21/02/2025 18:15

Just done my second jab. My first was last Saturday morning, but I thought I'd move it to Friday evening so I've got the whole weekend to deal with any side effects.
I've managed to lose 4lbs since Saturday but I think that's down to willpower, as I haven't experienced any suppression yet. It will be interesting to see if I feel any different after this second dose

Acolite · 21/02/2025 18:54

W1D5 here and the food noise has started to come back a bit since yesterday, especially in the afternoon. I have also managed to finish my, albeit small, lunch the last two days whereas I hadn’t managed to prior to that. Have felt empty/hungry late afternoon as well, but still haven’t fancied the snacks I would normally have. Have had a nakd bar instead as they are relatively high in protein and fibre. I could have eaten more but didn't have the drive I normally would have to binge.
By dinner time, the suppression seems to be back in force and I’m only managing a small dinner.
Happy with how it is going and nice to see new people.
Hope everyone manages to keep on going. I don’t think anyone has had unmanageable side effects yet, have they? Fingers crossed we all stay well-ish.

Mounjaroday · 21/02/2025 19:15

Would love to hear anyone’s recipes. I made this for dinner last night it was so good:

https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/marry-me-chicken

It says serve with mash but I didn’t bother with that. Just had lots of green beans to accompany. Could easily have substituted the cream for Greek yoghurt but my calorie deficit was massive yesterday, so just went for the full fat cream. Family loved it too.

Wk2 D2
I lost 9lb last week which I'm chuffed about but God did I really eat that much before?!
I know alot will be fluid and not expecting to lose as much this week and don't really want to. Only side effects I'm having is headaches and difficulty in going to loo.
Can't believe how my urge to eat has just gone, poor hubby gonna be size of a house as I keep giving him what I cant eat 😀
Love reading how everyone is getting on.

Thank you… have you started 5? How’s it been?

I’m after some advice please
my last dose will be 29th February, my renewal date for my next pen is 4th March, my next dose will be 7th march.
Anyone else like this?
I have to take it on a Friday due to commitments and I’m worried it’s not going to be here in time, especially as when I had my first pen delivered the courier wouldn’t leave it as no one was home
Also concerned as I go on holiday in march and I’m not going to be able to take the pen, so I will have it on the Friday go on holiday on the Saturday and then have my next dose on the Sunday/ Monday when I’m home

Can you not order your next pen now?
I ordered mine early with med express (after second dose) it did say somewhere that I couldn't order it until a date a bit further out- however it came anyway really quick.

I wouldn't worry too much about taking it a day or so late either, I would just be extra mindful in what I was eating incase suppression had worn off a bit.

pjsandplants · 21/02/2025 20:16

Hi everyone, I've just had my first dose this evening and am excited to start my journey! It's been great reading this thread over the last few days for inspiration and support.

No, I have to check back into my account on 4th and there will be a renewal form for me to review

Explain to them you are going away and I'm sure they'll help. If not try another provider!

Zibb · 21/02/2025 21:02

I'm w1d6, 2nd dose tomorrow. I haven't noticed any suppression or reduction in food noise yet. I know it's only the beginning but I was hoping! I still spend all day thinking about food.
Work is TOUGH. Serving food all day, being surrounded by cakes and pastries. Boo.

I've decided to start tracking calories. I won't weigh plain steamed vegetables or salad leaves.
Fitbit says I've burnt an average of 3080 calories a day this week (i know it can be wildly inaccurate) and I've eaten an average of 1674 calories a day. I don't "eat back" my exercise calories.

I'm hoping to see the scales shift tomorrow as they've remained the same for a few days now.

MissionToSize10 · 21/02/2025 21:38

Ive just realised ive only eaten 650 calories today- mixture of being busy and no appetite. Myfitnesspal has just told me off when completing my food diary. A one off day like this is fine?? Tomorrow will be three meals and the full calories!

should we be taking any supplements whilst on this? I do take collagen powder but wondering about multivitamins too??

I would
1 buy some syringes and use the bonus dose
2 contact them and say you need to order it now so you know it's there for when you need it
3 switch providers to a more flexible one.

I have never heard of anyone making you take all 4 doses before you can order a pen. Most providers recommend you order after the third dose at the latest. Otherwise it puts a lot of pressure in the prescribing and delivery going smoothly.

incognitomummy · 22/02/2025 01:05

I haven't noticed much noise, suppression or hunger suppression… Do most people go up to the next high dose for month 2 or l stick to the same dose for month two as month one?

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 22/02/2025 03:29

@incognitomummy apparently the starter dose is to get your body used to the medication. It really starts working once you go up to 5mg or above.

That said, I definitely noticed some suppression at 2.5 but it didn't last long. I've now moved up to 3.75 and there's definitely more suppression.

How do you get a 3.75 level please?

Romanswindowcleaner · 22/02/2025 07:39

@Poppins17 you don’t wind it all the way around to 1 : you count the clicks and have less than a full dose. Someone may be able to post a handy table with the exact number of clicks! I’m only on week 1 day 6 but I was planning on trying 5 weeks at 3.75 on a 5mg pen

having had massive suppression for 4 days I woke up feeling hungry on day 5 today.
