Mounjaroday · 31/01/2025 13:10

Just started Mounjaro? Friendly chat and support right here!

My starting weight: 104kg
Would love to lose 30kg over time

Have just started the first dose - no side effects so far. Appetite has disappeared. Cautiously hopeful about the future!

Good luck to anyone else starting their weight-loss journey too. Would love to hear from you!

Has anyone noticed it wearing off towards their due day? I’m due a dose tomorrow, but really hungry tonight!

Ke11 · 14/02/2025 19:10

Im 2 days into week 2 and I'm noticing some effects but also craving sweet stuff again. My daily lunch at the moment is steamed carrot slices, chicken breast and a bit of dip, mainly for ease at work. A portion size of this is way less than I would eat before.

I have a big cinema habit thanks to the cineworld pass and go after work usually once or twice a week. Previously I'd make a pit stop at M&S or another food place and pick up a sandwich, big bag of crisps, one or two packs of chocolate and a bottle of Pepsi max. Last night I went and made my usual pit stop but I almost unconsciously made better choices, got the basic egg mayo sandwich on brown bread a bag of "healthy" crisps made of chickpea and lentil flour and a small bag of chocolate raisins. I managed the sandwich, some crisps and the raisins but also felt uncomfortably too full by the end of the film. My next challenge is entirely mental and it's to make myself buy less food, I don't want or need all the stuff but my brain is still running on old programming that says I need x amount of food to take to the cinema.

I did also have a fair few mini eggs today which is my first sweet stuff in about 10 days, again it's a mental thing, today was a very boring day at work and they were just sitting there next to me.

I think some of this might be a reaction to all the restriction and weight loss of last week and it'll balance out over time as I adjust to a new way of food not being the loudest need in my brain.

imdesperatedan · 14/02/2025 19:14

That sounds similar to me, I’ve hardly had much all week then today I’ve had a yoghurt, protein shake, 2 skinny whip bars, skipped proper lunch but had dessert,, then had some chocolate, pizza with mayo and a chocolate mousse. Now snacking on chocolate almonds. I’ve lost something like 7lb so it’s not a disaster but I am disappointed with myself for giving in.

imdesperatedan · 14/02/2025 19:15

I’m hoping once I get the next dose tomorrow after slimming world weigh in, that it’ll settle again. To be honest maybe I shouldn’t have skipped breakfast and lunch!

Thisshirtisonfire · 14/02/2025 19:18

Hi everyone!
I just ordered my first pen today from medexpress... I'm very excited. I've got 6 stone to lose ideally!! I'm going to also be using nutracheck to track calories and count steps.
I hope mounjaro works for me, i struggle with binge eating crap.
I'm a bit anxious about possible nausea and other side effects.. but fingers crossed I don't get any!! It's would be great to not want to eat constantly

viktoria · 14/02/2025 19:34

I feel like a bit of an imposter here, because I actually started 3 weeks and 6 days ago... on the 18/1... but then came across this February starter thread. And I've been fully immersed since then, love reading everybody's updates and recognise myself in so many posts.

So far it's been amazing for me.

My issue previously had been constant food noise, not helped by having had hormonal migraines and always feeling the need to have food available. Added to that a chocolate addiction - even though I mainly ate 70% dark chocolate and sometimes only one square... still - I cannot remember a day when I had NO chocolate. Until I started on Mounjaro.
Food noise has gone, and I haven't had any chocolate (apart from one small truffle from the box I gave to my husband for Valentine's. And it was ok. But I didn't want a second one)

It just feels so liberating.

Starting weight 98.7kg
Current weight 90.6kg
Goal 75-80kg (initially... but now I might actually aim for 70kg)

I lost a lot in the first week and then less in the following weeks. But as a previous poster wrote: onwards and downwards.

I've had no side effects so far, but am slightly anxious when I'm going to 5mg tomorrow

I haven't really started proper exercising other than lifting a few weights at home from time to time but I do quite a bit of walking when I have time

I haven't tracked my food, but eat whatever my husband cooks in the evening, just smaller portions.
I don't fancy eating much and sometimes miss the "comfort" I got from eating chocolate, but not the chocolate itself.

Breakfast now is either two boiled eggs or an apple
I don't have proper lunch, but tend to have some rye bread with avocado and also Greek yoghurt with fresh raspberries as two separate snacks throughout the day.

Only my husband and one friend (who both have been very supportive) know about the jabs.
That's why I love coming here and reading everybody else's experiences.
Well done all of us for taking this step to a healthier weight!

MJSpideySenses · 14/02/2025 21:22

@Ke11 I have a Cineworld Unlimited card too, we go at least once a week and usually eat out beforehand. I have chosen meals that fit in my calorie allowance and taken a small bag of popcorn with me, but it's tough to break longstanding habits isn't it. It sound like you're doing well.

I love how many people are on this thread cheering each other on, but I soon lose track when I finish work and see 50+ new posts 😅

3rd jabbing done. Fingers crossed for a good week. It's half-term and I have lots of plans so it's going to test me.

Yes I have been hungry today and its jab day - doing it shortly

mysparkleismissing · 14/02/2025 21:32

I also have a cineworld card! We tend to get ice cream each time but had just 1 scoop last week and within my calories

QuitChewingMyPlectrum · 14/02/2025 21:40

Mounjaroday · 14/02/2025 15:32

Best Valentine’s ever: I’ve officially lost a stone!

Cannot believe the difference in such a short amount of time: I already feel so much more confident, and can put my shoes on without puffing!

I will enjoy tonight’s steak! Happy Valentine’s everyone ❤️

Congrats! This is Fab to see!

OverTheTopOfTheMountain · 14/02/2025 21:57

Just starting this week.
2 days in and my appetite is slightly reduced but not much. Very slight nausea on the first day but again not much either.
However, I had the WORST night ever just after I did the jab. I woke up at about 2.00am with a massive headache and palpitations. I was just awake and didn’t really get back to sleep afterwards.
Thankfully last night was better but next time, I’ll do the injection early in the am instead.

OldChairMan · 14/02/2025 22:06

Oops, wrong thread.

MountainMama85 · 14/02/2025 23:14

@OvertiredandConfused i feel your pain. No loss my first week despite sticking to TDEE calories, prioritising protein, fibre and water, and regular exercise (spin and weights). Hard seeing others number but trying to focus on long game.

On day 3 of jab 2 and have grim nausea and gas for the first time tonight 🥴

Mounjaronewbie25 · 14/02/2025 23:28

Hi can I join in?

My first pen arrived today, planning to do first injection tomorrow. My DP has got Mounjaro prescribed too so we will be doing this together, we don’t plan on telling anyone else for now.

Feeling quite nervous tbh, have never done anything like this before, and never thought I would need to use medication for weight loss. And I’m sure some of you can relate to this, but it feels a bit like cheating, like Im doing something sneaky and wrong? I don’t know, maybe that’s just me! 😅

But have done my research and it sounds like this medication may be just what I need. Cravings and obsessing over food has always been my downfall when trying to lose weight in the past. Have always been a Slimmingworld girl and have previously done well on it, but having the will power to resist overeating sweet and savoury treats when the cravings hit has always been difficult for me. Really hoping Mounjaro is the answer!

My height is 5ft 4 and was at my highest weight last year at 16st 8.5 (105.9kg) BMI 40.1
I’ve lost a bit on my own over the last few months.

Top of healthy BMI for me would be 10st 5 (65.8kg) so will make that my first goal, but ideally would like to get under 9 stone, I carry most of my weight around my belly and have a short torso. Lowest weight as an adult was 9st 4 and I still had a belly back then, 2 kids later and I’m sure it will be even more jiggly now lol.

Mounjaro SW 14/2/25: 14st 12 (94.4kg) BMI 35.7

Hi, happy you’re here. There’s around 140 of us now.
Super interested to hear how moving up to 5mg goes! Keep us updated? X

If you read the instructions in the box it says to alternate legs / side of the stomach each week.

It would have to be the same side for me every week as due to an accident I’m not able to stretch my right arm over to my left side

MJSpideySenses · 15/02/2025 07:08

I am looking forward to hearing how you get on with 5mg too @viktoria

I have had minimal side effects on 2.5mg so plan on moving up but have heard many say that because it's doubling it's the most likely to cause them. I have just had my 3rd dose so will be ordering soon.

@OverTheTopOfTheMountain that sounds so unpleasant, I hope you feel better and had a more restful night.

Febnewbie · 15/02/2025 07:17

I am a tiny bit disappointed not to have lost anything yet but I realise I am being ridiculous as it day 4.. but it doesn't feel like I am heading towards getting a loss on week 1 at this point. It's strange because I have definitely eaten considerably less than usual.

Ah well, weight loss isn't linear

pinkcow123 · 15/02/2025 07:24

Just weighed in for week 2!

Week 1 loss - 8lbs
Week 2 loss 4lbs

Woohoo!!

Bluehels · 15/02/2025 07:51

@itcouldalwaysgetworse
Im moving up to 5mg and have already got the pen in my fridge. I plan to extract the bonus dose which I have heard should be a bit more than the 2.5mg dose. Im hoping this gives me a slight step up to the next dose. Although I am quite nervous of doing this, this stuff is too expensive to waste.

JennyForeigner · 15/02/2025 08:17

Just placemarking really. I had my first jab last night. 80kg hoping to lose 15kg after years of persuading young children to eat their dinner by modelling eating mine, and then hating throwing theirs away.

Feel OK this morning but with blurry vision, which could be a succession of night wakings and early mornings 🌄

ExplodingCarrots · 15/02/2025 08:21

pinkcow123 · 15/02/2025 07:24

Just weighed in for week 2!

Week 1 loss - 8lbs
Week 2 loss 4lbs

Woohoo!!

That's awesome ! Well done !

OverTheTopOfTheMountain · 15/02/2025 08:48

Thank you @MJSpideySenses
Unfortunately, I’m still getting some bad night of sleep. I’m hoping it will settle down within 2 weeks. Otherwise, I might have to reconsider.

NikkiReader · 15/02/2025 08:58

So yesterday was 3rd injection of 2.5ml and 2nd weigh in. On 1st Jan I did start weight watchers and lost 9lbs in the first three weeks, so this is actually the start of my 6th week of of eating healthy but the start of my 3rd week on mounjaro.

Mounjaro starting weight 17.76lbs
Current Weight 17.06lbs
Week 1 of mounjaro 2.5ml = -3.4lbs
Week 2 of mounjaro 2.5ml = -3.6lbs

I'm really pleased with the above as I know having being doing weight watchers for 4 weeks prior that my my 2 weeks weight loss on mounjaro is definitely not water and actually fat loss!

I took my third injection yesterday morning and have orders my next pen (I've bought the next dose up, so 5ml) I buy mine from IQ Doctor they seem to be the most economical (I think) when you look at the increase dosage and increase costs, and my previous pension got approved and dispatched so quickly.

Side effects wise, none, apart from being flippin freezing the last few weeks. I feel incredibly grateful not to have had any side effects yet. Whether this changes once on the 5ml does time will tell. I did see another lady comment yesterday that lack of side effects seems to correspond with little to no food suppression and I would agree with this. I have had a little food suppression - I think - but I'm absolutely desperate to lose the weight and my head is in 'the zone' so whether it's a little food suppression or just my desperation keeping me going at the moment whilst on this low dose, I don't know.

I haven't told a living soul that I'm doing this, only all you lovely people on this chat! I can't admit this is what I'm doing, one because of the money
and 2 I just don't want to have to explain it and justify myself to people. At the moment it is still quite hard work to keep eating healthy and I don't want that taken away from me.

Anyway that's enough waffle about me. I'm really loving reading everyone's posts and every one of them is helping me to feel like we're all together in this.

Burnserns · 15/02/2025 09:06

Weigh in day for me too

SW 124kg
CW120kg
TW 72kg

1.6kg off this week. Really pleased. I'm not calorie counting at the moment. Just taking it day by day and seeing how I get on.

Currently deliberating whether to order the next dossage at 2.5mg or go up to 5mg.
