Just started Mounjaro? Friendly chat and support right here!

My starting weight: 104kg
Would love to lose 30kg over time

Have just started the first dose - no side effects so far. Appetite has disappeared. Cautiously hopeful about the future!

Good luck to anyone else starting their weight-loss journey too. Would love to hear from you!

Took first dose yesterday and steadily feeling a bit worse. Headache now and feel so sick. I'm hoping it wears off soon. Fingers crossed for me

sc0ttishlass · 14/02/2025 13:12

@Littlebitpsycho I'm feeling same as you. 2nd dose was wednesday and I was looking forward to the same feelings as week 1, but don't feel such a suppression. However telling myself it's actually good as first week I was probably feeling a full aversion to food, but this week I suppose I'm still looking for food but happy to stop at a reasonable quantity,? I almost wondered if i hadn't injected right this time but think it's just the way of it x

pippy1958 · 14/02/2025 13:15

Hello, I’ve just taken the first dose. I’ve told a few people but keeping it to myself otherwise. I have holiday coming up and won’t have seen some people for a while so I’m hoping it will really show by then. I am 12 1/2 stone so about 80kg. I snack terribly in the evening (savoury girl all the way) so hoping that urge goes away! Good luck x

eleanorwish · 14/02/2025 14:17

Hi, I'd like to join you all, my first pen is due to arrive today, so will do my first jab tomorrow.
My starting weight is 15st 3lbs.
I managed to lose 20lbs about 1yr ago, doing the Fast 800 diet, and have managed to keep 1st of that off. I'm finding it harder to keep on the diet now, as I've been gaining and losing 7lbs for several months.
I'd like to lose 4 or 5 stones.

SpiralSister · 14/02/2025 14:40

Hello to all the new starters!

Day 4 week 1. No appetite suppression yet, although I do think I’ve eaten less, because I’m more aware of food, more mindful. I’ll take that for week 1!

Thinking about what exercise to build in now. I already walk a fairly vigorous 1.5-2 hours per day with the dog, plus cold water swimming (it was 6 degrees today! 🥶), but would like to get back into yoga or Pilates again.

Good luck for the weekend everyone!

LollyWillow · 14/02/2025 14:58

Hi everyone. I'd like to join the group please. My pen is due to arrive tomorrow and I am planning on starting with the first injection late Monday or early Tuesday. I've a complicating holiday booked, 4th to 11th March so I'm trying to work with that.
I'm nervous, but feeling optimistic and keen to get on with it.
My starting weight is 109kg and I'm 5ft 8.
I lost 25kgs in early 2022 but found it hard to push past a plateau at 95kg and lost heart. My weight has been slowly creeping up since then. I've been trying to stop the weight gain and get back on track but nothing seems to work and so here I am!

@KittyPup there's a price comparison website:

https://monj.co.uk/discount-mounjaro-price-list/

All the pharmacies listed there are registered with the GPhC.

Current cheapest for the starting dose (2.5mg) is from Farmeci at £88.50 with free delivery, using the discount code quoted in the Discounts column of the table.

The prices and discounts available do change so it's worth checking right before you order.

🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️😳😳😳
I’ve gone through Chequp Health!
such a big jump in price from 2.5ml to 5ml!

BrendaSmall · 14/02/2025 15:25

2nd injection just done.
Done it a day early as I’m working tomorrow and Sunday, not sure if I should have waited until Sunday night after work 🤣 only time will tell!
Done it in the same thigh as last week and area around where I done it to, now feels very cold, didn’t get that last time!

itcouldalwaysgetworse · 14/02/2025 15:26

Interested to know, of the beginning of February starters are you planning on doing another month on 2.5 or moving up to 5mg? Is there any reason why you are leaning one way or another.

Im going into my 3rd week, so will need to do my order soon. At the moment i am loosing with not much side effects on the 2.5, but worried if i re-order it come week 5-6-7 will wish i had moved up and it is a lot of money if i make a mistake..... chronic overthinker as well as overeater apparently :)

Ke11 · 14/02/2025 15:27

@Littlebitpsycho yep, same here, not feeling anywhere like last week. I guess it's good in a way because I'm getting used to the medication. It is, after all, the absolute minimum dose. I'll just keep going and order 5mg pen for dose 5+ as planned

Mounjaroday · 14/02/2025 15:32

Best Valentine’s ever: I’ve officially lost a stone!

Cannot believe the difference in such a short amount of time: I already feel so much more confident, and can put my shoes on without puffing!

I will enjoy tonight’s steak! Happy Valentine’s everyone ❤️

I'm going to move up. My GP prescribes my meds and my diabetes nurse oversees me. She is very clear that the 2.5 is a starter dose to help you build tolerance for higher doses. I don't find i get much suppression and am surprised by the number of people in this thread who say they do.

I had bad side effects with my first jab although have been fine with subsequent ones. I'm worried that I might get a similar issue with my first 5mg jab but am not sure how to time it. Ideally I'd stay very close to a bathroom for 48 hours after taking it but I'm due to move up on Monday and am going to a funeral on Wednesday. I'm then not home again until Friday so am weighing up whether I take it on Monday and risk the funeral (which could be disastrous) or wait until Friday - but then we are out almost all weekend.

Just got in from work, and my Mounjaro has arrived. I've done the first dose. I'm so keen to see if it will work. Can't imagine not constantly thinking about food. Did tell DH last night. He had no idea GLP1s were even a thing. Hadn't even heard of Ozempic! He's used to my diets as I lost 60 lbs on Noom 4 years ago. I've gained 20lbs back, but he claims not to have noticed. To be fair, he's never commented on my weight in 25 years. Thanks for letting me join the thread. SW 185 would like to be 154.

Oh wow!! That's amazing. In less than a month? Manifesting this for me too Smile. Have a brilliant Valentines Day.

Thank you so much @Feb2025start and @Choux for your replies - super helpful.

I'm already with Oxford Pharmacy so, fingers crossed, should be fairly smooth.

Could you do it Friday in the evening before going to bed, that could possibly give you 12 hours more on the chance of side effects?
I’ve injected a day earlier as I’m working Saturday and Sunday

Feb2025start · 14/02/2025 15:49

Yay @Mounjaroday! That's amazing 😊. I'm dreading my week 2 weigh in tomorrow - have been quite hungry this week in comparison to week 1, and have dinner at a fancy steak place booked for tomorrow for Valentines... not to mention the box of chocolates DH gave me this morning 😱. Trying to be as good as possible but as steak & chocolate are two of my favourite things I'm not sure I have much faith in my willpower!

Feb2025start · 14/02/2025 15:55

@itcouldalwaysgetworse I'm moving up and have already got my 5mg pen waiting in the fridge. I had really strong suppression in week 1 but I've felt more hungry this week so I think I'd regret sticking to 2.5mg! I haven't really had side effects so far other than some leg cramps and feeling a bit cold on 2.5mg so that is one thing that's worrying me a bit, but if I do get them on 5mg I can always go back down to a 1/2 or 3/4 dose until the 30 day pen expiry cutoff. The 5mg pen was only a few £ more than the 2.5 so I think it makes sense for me to go up.

If you read the instructions in the box it says to alternate legs / side of the stomach each week.

It's so interesting how different everyone is.

I have had basically total suppression after jab 1, obviously very early days but I have not felt a single hunger pang.

It's also really dialled down some of my seeking a dopamine hit behaviour- not just caffeine and alcohol but I am also reaching for my phone less. I have ADHD but am not on medication for that but it's almost like this is doing it for me

billysboy · 14/02/2025 16:41

nearing the end of my first week , food suppression has been great

Itsbathtime · 14/02/2025 17:08

It is so interesting how it effects everyone so differently - I have been listening to some interesting podcasts and there’s a lot of doctors talking about how for diabetes it’s necessary to go to the higher doses - but that some people trying to lose weight find 2.5 fine for long stretches. Personally I seem to be having a very strong reaction - I had such a yucky tummy last week (diarreah every morning) that I injected only 1/2 a dose last night (1.25) and today have felt awful. Bad nights sleep and then ended up staying in bed all day - though tummy got better by lunchtime I have been tired and thought I might as well take it easy. I hope I’m going to be able to keep it up - and that my body adjusts - as I’m losing well. And - because of my thyroid - this feels like it could be really helpful - but only if I can manage the side effects. Disappointed that 1.25 has made me feel so rough (and I injected my thigh) - have bought some Imodium and praying that might sort me out.

LilacMoose · 14/02/2025 17:11

Week 1 Day 4 for me. Still not feeling any suppression but doing well on just willpower. I will just have to do my best this month and hope that the 5mg works better for me.

SpiralSister · 14/02/2025 18:19

It sounds like a bit of a pattern - side effects more common with good suppression? I have no suppression so far - but also no side effects!
