Just started Mounjaro? Friendly chat and support right here!

My starting weight: 104kg
Would love to lose 30kg over time

Have just started the first dose - no side effects so far. Appetite has disappeared. Cautiously hopeful about the future!

Good luck to anyone else starting their weight-loss journey too. Would love to hear from you!

Hi @Zazu44, according to the manufacturer (Lilley) you can change the day you inject so long as you have three days between the jabs so you should be fine. I posted a link to their page earlier this afternoon upthread.

I also get the dreaded food noise coming back towards the end of the week (on week 2 now, jab on Friday and spent far too long loitering in the chocolate aisle of the shop today...). I was contemplating jabbing every six days (which some people apparently do) but actually I think having a bit of a willpower test is no bad thing! I have pretty good suppression for the first few days so hopefully that'll balance out any minor slip-ups 😬. And once we've built up the meds in our bodies (and move up to 5mg if needed) it'll hopefully be less of an issue anyway!

wk2 day5
After experiencing only mild fullness, today I’m really full. I ate all of my lunch which I think was a mistake because Im still really full now nearly 5 hours later.
I think I'm going to push dinner back and see if i fancy something later.

Littlebitpsycho · 12/02/2025 17:38

First weigh in and 2nd jab this evening

SW 13st 11lb
CW 13st 6lb

So 5lb loss this first week, happy enough with that. Glad it's second jab day as I was starting to feel hungry!

Weirdly when I removed the needle this time it looked like some of the dose kind of came back out onto my skin - i hope I did it right!

Mounjaroday · 12/02/2025 17:46

What’s everyone eating tonight? Please give me some inspiration I feel totally out of ideas!

And ideally something the kids and DH might eat too. I may actually cry if I have to be in the kitchen for an hour+ preparing lots of different options after a full day at work.

Can I get some thoughts please?

Week 2, jab day was Sunday evening.

Before jab, I felt a bit sniffly (got pre schoolers at home who constantly had runny noses and colds) and family have been unwell with cold like symptoms. Typically, if I'm unwell it goes to my sinuses.

Roll on Monday, felt like I had been hit by a bus, sinsues really painful on one side of face, headache on that side, blocked / runny nose.

I had attributed this to a cold (still sniffly today, but headache has gone!)

Also felt nauseous, but felt that last week after first jab - so put that down to the jab.

I'm trying to assess whether this was all the jab or a cold mixed with jab reactions.

I'm hoping both, as I can't go through that each week. I had to have a nap and could not function! What do you guys think?

I've had a headache coupled with sinus pain since my jab on Saturday. Today is the first day I'm managing without painkillers. I normally have a monthly headache and did feel it starting before I had my 1st injection on Saturday but never normally have sinus pain like I've had.

MJSpideySenses · 12/02/2025 18:14

@Mounjaroday I was very indecisive tonight too. Decided on a bowl of soup and a piece of garlic bread.

I had an hours session of yoga after work today. It was intense but good.

Still going ok. Don't think I'll lose much this week. Aside from constipation, it's also TOTM.

Ragdollmummy1977 · 12/02/2025 18:22

Hi I took my first 2.5 last night but I am not going to lie I am finding I am more hungrier today than normal. Maybe it’s all in my head but I just feel nothing is filling me today 🥲

partyfoodpickingpiggy · 12/02/2025 18:22

A burger (a nice quality one) - don't know why I needed to say that. Actually I do, when I think of burgers I think of those horrible cheap ones. (no bun) a heap of green salad with malt vinegar as a dressing and some beetroot for me.

Great idea to ask @Mounjaroday I would love some different ideas.

Zazu44 · 12/02/2025 18:23

@Mounjaroday I was feeling hungry tonight and had pan fried salmon and peas - quick and easy

partyfoodpickingpiggy · 12/02/2025 18:23

Forgot to say kids having buns and chips so works for everyone!

pinkcow123 · 12/02/2025 18:33

@MogHog I hope it was a cold for us, rather than a reaction! Be interested to see how you get on post jab 2!

pinkcow123 · 12/02/2025 18:35

@Mounjaroday tonight we are having Cajun chicken breast with rice and veg!

I recently got a 6 ingredient slow cooker book (bored of lunch) which has been a game changer in helping me stick to / feel inspired for dinner!

Interestingly I had a spag Bol for the first time last night since starting MJ and had heartburn!

imdesperatedan · 12/02/2025 18:39

Patient called me fat today which has knocked me for six. I know I am, he can’t help it but it’s written in his notes as an incident - told a colleague what he thinks of me. She did challenge it.

I stupidly hid in my office all day as I didn’t want to fuel the fire.

imdesperatedan · 12/02/2025 18:40

On the plus side, I’ve lost 6lb now.

Zazu44 · 12/02/2025 18:57

@Feb2025start thanks, it was weird with the cookies in the staff room, the old me would have eaten some and then prob put a couple in my bag for later.. my head was saying 1 won't hurt but my stomach was saying you don't need it.

Sarahyorks · 12/02/2025 19:02

Hi,
Just done my first injection, I'm now sat here waiting for side effects and worrying if I did it correctly. Thank god I didn't become a nurse haha. Seriously though, has anyone had any side effects?

Mash8586 · 12/02/2025 19:26

Hello,

I did my first injection on Sunday morning and I’ve ate all week. I know it isn’t a miracle overnight, but roughly when did people start finding it worked?

I’m hoping my second week will be more successful, I feel dreadful this week as is just hoped to be able to make healthier choices and feel better in myself.

thanks

Febnewbie · 12/02/2025 19:41

I think it is already kicking in for me. Only 6 hours since I injected but I feel a slight headache and I really don't fancy any dinner.

I will eat something small anyway

Mounjaroday · 12/02/2025 19:42

@Sarahyorks have a glance through the thread you’ll read loads of different experiences. I’ve had no side effects. Apart from I’m a bit bunged up these last couple of days.

@Mash8586 again lots of different experiences so give it time and be kind to yourself. I’m week 3 and people have already started to say how well I look.

Thanks everyone for good ideas! Tonight for me is this: https://realfood.tesco.com/recipes/chicken-and-sweet-potato-traybake.html

I’ll only have a little bit tbh, and the rest of the family have a fresh baguette with it.

7.5 hours since first injection and feeling slightly cold but otherwise great.

Feeling very full after a small baked potato with filling and salad which is unusual for me. I’ve usually got a big appetite.

AndCallMeNancy · 12/02/2025 19:47

I’ve done my first jab too this evening. Felt sick before doing it but it was fine. Took me right back to doing IVF. Felt exhilarated after but also been quite nervous to go to the loo! Really hope this works with as little side effects as possible.

Good luck everyone and thank you sharing your stories!

Mounjaroday · 12/02/2025 19:53

Um. Just on my last point re being a bit bunged up.

Any advice? This is quite new to me 😳

Herefordian · 12/02/2025 20:06

@Mounjaroday - first line of attack for me is oranges (with lots of the white pithy stuff), kiwi fruit (with skin on) or M&S seeded oatcakes. Others may have alternative cupboard remedies?
Second line would be OTC pharmacy meds eg, fybogel or lactulose.
My constipation coincided with not drinking as much water so you could try upping your h2o intake too.
Drinking lots of water does seem to be really key to this treatment on lots of different levels.

Dew131 · 12/02/2025 20:08

I’ve been snacking on popcorn if I need a bit of a sugar boost and that has a lot of fibre too. That might help?

MountainMama85 · 12/02/2025 20:40

@Itsbathtime I had it checked a few years ago and it was within normal levels, but I have been questioning whether I should test again?

I should probably get into a habit of measuring myself and not just looking at the scales too as I’m working really hard at the gym.

Fingers crossed for a loss this week! It’s funny, I was so nervous about my first jab and today I was like “GET IT IN ME” 😂
