Just started Mounjaro? Friendly chat and support right here!

My starting weight: 104kg
Would love to lose 30kg over time

Have just started the first dose - no side effects so far. Appetite has disappeared. Cautiously hopeful about the future!

Good luck to anyone else starting their weight-loss journey too. Would love to hear from you!

@PerditionCatchMySoul yes you ard actually meant to drink between 2-3 litres of water a day, and from everything I read that's key, in people's experiences. Some days I find that hard but am really trying to at least get 2.. i have one of those bottles that holds 2 litres and just fill that in the morning
I got the medicine via second nature as my friend recommended to start with. They give you a personal coach who I have an online chat with, and a group chat with people who started at same time. Also a wealth of info..I do find it helpful knowing I have this coach there to ask questions at amy time during week (she doesn't work at weekends!) X

Just need to have a little moan despite knowing this is a journey and everyones body is different and the loses will come.

End of first week, and despite losing 1kg overnight the first day, I’ve put it back on.

Suppression and lack of food noise has been good - so easy to stick to/below my TDEE cutting calories. Have prioritised protein and fibre and water intake.

3 spinning sessions and hybrid exercise classes.

Really proud of myself, and nothing off.
It’s a bit deflating 😢

ExplodingCarrots · 12/02/2025 08:52

4lb off for me this week . Really happy with that . I've never been someone to lose loads in a week so I'm happy for a 4lb loss in first week .

SW - 190lbs (I think I put 188 in my first post but that was wrong )
CW - 186lbs

Will be taking second jab this evening .

FunnyCrabDance · 12/02/2025 08:58

@MountainMama85 ah no, that does sound unfair. You'll hopefully have a super loss next week to make up for it.

Just checking, your scales are reliable? That you arent due on a period? Was your bmi borderline qualifying to start with? Are you constipated? If none of those apply just keep going, it will happen!

Hey thanks, it is a bit unfair isn’t it!!

  • Fairly new, fancy Renpho scales so should be accurate, Just ovulated so shouldn’t be period weight and bloat yet. There’s a good chance I’m a bit constipated, have gone but not well 😂and my BMI was 32 so not the highest but still classed at obese.

It was a similar story pre-MJ. Whenever I eat well and exercise regular my weight barely shifts, so I was hoping this was going to be a good helping hand.

Ive never been slim but I do know my body was comfortable and happy at about 25kg/4st less (pre kids weight!).

Will keep fingers crossed for a super loss week! ❤

LilacMoose · 12/02/2025 09:20

I injected Monday night. No side effects yet but also not feeling any difference in terms of appetite or fullness, so having to go on willpower for now. My period came on yesterday morning so I feel like I've started in hard mode 😣

Ke11 · 12/02/2025 09:29

Since I'm taking the 2nd dose tonight, I'm going to use weds am as my weekly weigh in to make it easy, so today is more like day 6

Start weight: technically 116 kg but as a result of the fat photos and trying to prevent side effects it was closer to 115kg
Current: 112.3kg
Week 1 Loss: 3.7kg

I've found it's had very subtle effects for me. The main benefit so far has been stabilising blood sugar, I've had very little sugar or craving for sweet stuff this week. Normally I have a pretty disgusting intake of sugar and past attempts to stop have been a disaster.

Going to take new fat photos tonight and hopefully each week to track also. Will measure soon too but my work gear is much more comfortable and I'm definitely less bloated.

sc0ttishlass · 12/02/2025 09:52

First weight in this am and kost 10lbs.. i appreciate it mostly water weight etc but I'm over the moon.

Starting weight 13 stone 5pb.
Current weight 12 stone 9lb

2nd dose this morning. Worried I don't do it correctly and can't wait to get the suppression feelings back as they had lessened yesterday..in the office so hoping no side effects continues x

MaddyM8 · 12/02/2025 09:57

My order is finally on its way, hopefully be here today! Amazing losses so far! Has anyone jabbed in the arm?

Housewife2010 · 12/02/2025 10:32

Week 1 completed. I've lost a few ounces short of 7lbs. I'm going to have the 2nd injection this afternoon. I'm really hoping to lose the next 4.5 lbs very soon so I can break through the next stone barrier.

Housewife2010 · 12/02/2025 10:34

I have found that I'm starting to get a little hungry again.

Febnewbie · 12/02/2025 10:37

Mine is out for delivery today so fingers crossed it arrives - RM can be a bit hit and miss here so I think next time I will go for DPD

Ideally I would have Tuesday as an injection day - will it cause any issues if I do Wednesday this week and move to Tuesday the following week?

Potentially really stupid question - those of you with large early losses, do you think that has come from eating a lot less or do you think it's done something to your metabolism?

Itsbathtime · 12/02/2025 11:39

@MountainMama85 have you had your thyroid checked? That sounds very familiar and I have an under active thyroid - which is now medicated and working well and I am losing (reasonably fast) at end of week 1 of mounjaro. But before my thyroid was managed well I literally couldn’t shift weight even starving myself and exercising non stop. Or if thyroid isn’t the issues - also could be that you are building muscle with all the gym going? Quite a lot of people don’t lose weight apparently until they increase to 5 - though I’m having such tummy issues - can’t imagine increasing at the mo!

Ke11 · 12/02/2025 11:42

@Febnewbie for me I have been eating a lot less this week, mostly chicken and veggies, porridge for breakfast. I'm sure loss will slow down as I adapt and get into a new way of eating. Also the effect on blood sugar I think has really helped stop a lot of cravings for sweet stuff. That is my biggest noticeable change this week. So 50/50 in answer to your question

OntheTrainX · 12/02/2025 12:20

Just took my first dose, ten minutes ago. Didn’t feel it go in, which was great (although I’m not nervous of needles anyway). I have a strange taste in my mouth but not sure if it’s the drug or psychosomatic. Am necking water!

Weight is 14st 10lbs (93.4kg) BMI 32.3

I want to lose 2 stone (12.7kg) and take it from there.

I’d like to thank everyone who started in early February and posted weight loss. It’s been inspiring and motivational.

SpiralSister · 12/02/2025 12:47

Morning! This is such a helpful thread. So many different experiences, it’s reassuring to hear - pretty much everything seems normal, because someone else has felt the same.

That sounds rubbish though, @MountainMama85 - could there be a lag with your body? The last time I lost a significant amount of weight on a managed plan, I would have weeks when I’d stuck to it religiously and lost nothing, followed by a more ‘relaxed’ week 😂 and lose 3lbs. I hope you have a better result next week..

It’s now day 3 and no side effects, food noise still roaring away in my head constantly, but interestingly, when I challenge that, I realise that I’m not really hungry. I want to eat, because it’s lovely and delicious and most of all comforting, but that feeling seems separate to actual hunger.

I’m not convinced that this is anything to with mounjaro, but it’s certainly making me think. I already have a really good diet, I just eat far too much of it. Plus the wine! Which I have not had in over a week, and do not miss yet..

According to the official Lilly/Mounjaro site it's fine to change your injection day so long as there's at least 3 days in between jabs (scroll down to 'Pick Your Day' in the pink text box):
How to Use, Dosing & Side Effects | Mounjaro® (tirzepatide)
So moving it to Tuesday should be fine.

On your other question, I really don't know! I'm definitely eating a lot less (and a lot more healthily!) but not such a difference that I'd have lost so much weight from calorie deficit alone. I do think in my case a lot was water weight/bloat as I've mainly visibly lost from my stomach and face. Hopefully something will have kickstarted my metabolism too but I think it's too early to tell at less than 2 weeks in!

Good luck 😊

Thank you!

I literally just took my first dose

I was a bit terrified of the injection - more somehow doing it wrong than pain - but it was fine

pinkcow123 · 12/02/2025 13:43

Can I get some thoughts please?

Week 2, jab day was Sunday evening.

Before jab, I felt a bit sniffly (got pre schoolers at home who constantly had runny noses and colds) and family have been unwell with cold like symptoms. Typically, if I'm unwell it goes to my sinuses.

Roll on Monday, felt like I had been hit by a bus, sinsues really painful on one side of face, headache on that side, blocked / runny nose.

I had attributed this to a cold (still sniffly today, but headache has gone!)

Also felt nauseous, but felt that last week after first jab - so put that down to the jab.

I'm trying to assess whether this was all the jab or a cold mixed with jab reactions.

I'm hoping both, as I can't go through that each week. I had to have a nap and could not function! What do you guys think?

Lola50 · 12/02/2025 14:07

@pinkcow123 I imagine you have cold/flu! Everyone in my house is sick and I definitely don’t have the energy I had in week 1. Keep the faith 👍

Housewife2010 · 12/02/2025 14:21

I've just had my week two injection. I had a blood test this morning and have just come back from a filling which involved two painful injections so four altogether!
For anyone still to take their first injection, don't worry, it doesn't hurt and I'd recommend this video.

@pinkcow123 sounds like a combination to me. I don't think cold type symptoms are a side effect associated with MJ - it's generally more gastric issues, so the nausea is probably the jab. Hope you feel better soon, that sounds rotten!

billysboy · 12/02/2025 15:22

Took my first Jab on Sunday , food noise has gone completely but a bit constipated

obsessedlex · 12/02/2025 15:30

2nd jab due tomorrow and I can't wait as the little food noise devil has been bloomin' shouting for the last couple of days!! I want to shut the f**r up! 😆

Zazu44 · 12/02/2025 15:57

I have 2 questions.
I did my 1st jab Saturday afternoon but would it be ok if I changed the day and now do it Fridays?
Also the food noises are coming back ( chocolate chip cookies in the staff room today!) but I will power through 😂.
Any advice?
