Just started Mounjaro? Friendly chat and support right here!

My starting weight: 104kg
Would love to lose 30kg over time

Have just started the first dose - no side effects so far. Appetite has disappeared. Cautiously hopeful about the future!

Good luck to anyone else starting their weight-loss journey too. Would love to hear from you!

I think when I do start it'll give me flashbacks of IVF when I was injecting my stomach!

Choux · 10/02/2025 19:59

Dozycuntlaters · 10/02/2025 12:47

Due to take my 3rd jab tonight

Week 1 - 2.5 lbs off
Week 2 - 3lbs off

I'm pleased with that although I had had the most dreadful shits and haven't done a solid poo since I started it. However, not felt sick so I think I would rather it was this way round.

I am fretting already though about going up to the 5 - am I going to get even more explosive poohs? Right now I dont feel confident being away from home too long in case I need to go as you dont get that much warning for it lol. Undecided whether to stay on 2.5 or make the move up to 5.

Would you not be happy to lose 2-3 lbs a week for the next month? If so why would you risk going up to 5mg - which is double the dose that is currently giving you side effects - and potentially making yourself very ill?

If you are happy to keep losing at the current rate you don't need to increase the dose. Some people never go above 2.5mg as they can lose fast enough on that dose. And you may even find 2mg or less is your sweet spot where you don't have the loose bowels but still lose pretty well. Speak to your provider before you order another pen.

@Dozycuntlaters thank you for reply which was very helpful.

I’ve looked at my own and the black plunger bit has moved up the barrel of the pen but it’s short of the first line so I wonder if I haven had a full dose ?

Not sure what to do now.

This is what your pen should look like after each dose. Compare yours and see if it looks like it should.

@Feb2025start thanks! I’m going to get my fiancé to do it.

Question, would you recommend taking it in a Friday so all side effects are minimised over the weekend? I’m off next week anyway so a good time to start, but nervous of side effects

thislittlepiggyy · 10/02/2025 20:12

Please can I join and ask advice from you new starters?

I have started today!

Had the injection at 1.30pm but not feeling like my appetite has been reduced I'm starving!
I've eaten very healthy (a fraction of my usual calories) but not too little.

When will I not feel hungry?

I've drank loads of water too.

Thanks x

Choux · 10/02/2025 20:16

@Feb2025start why would you buy 0.3ml needles when each regular dose is 0.6ml and the bonus dose is generally 0.7-0.8ml? To use it all you will have to do 2 or even 3 injections per bonus dose. These needles are 1ml so can accommodate the entire bonus dose in one syringe.

Yeah I know, I was just starting to confuse myself and had been recommended the 32g ones rather than 30g (which UKMedi didn't seem to stock in 8mm). Ah well, I'm not massively bothered, they work out about the same price overall and I'm hoping the 'hard twist of the pen' method will work anyway!

That's what I did (jabbing on Friday). I didn't get any side effects but I would have felt really anxious without the couple of days and nights at home before going back into the office!

Hangryfastjo · 10/02/2025 20:39

Does anyone know how long Oushk take to issue the prescription.
I ordered yesterday, it's still processing today. I know yesterday was a Sunday so unlikely to have been looked at.
TIA

OgdensGoneNutFlake · 10/02/2025 20:39

OK I'm in!

Starting weight
121kg

No idea of target weight! Probably ought to think of this...

Just ordered my doses and a load of meal replacement shakes from superdrug.
I know what works for me and what "hunger" feels like when it's a blood sugar drop.

I did lighterlife years ago and lost 8 stone so for the first few months I'm intending to have the shakes for breakfast and dinner and see how I go.

I'm excited, I have never had an issue with looking overweight but I have 2 young kids and I want to be able to run around with them!

I ordered my first pen through Oushk, ordered on Wednesday and arrived on Friday. I think they say the date of delivery (assuming no problems) when you order, don't they?

Same and I then had GD during pregnancy so actually did inject insulin with very similar pens.

Weird question… has the tip of anyone else’s nose gone a bit numb?! Never happened before so not sure if it’s related. I’m at the end of week 2.

3lb down 😁😁😁

starting weight 22 stone 10, current weight 22 stone 7.

Absolutely beyond delighted so far.

Can’t say it has but I sometimes get that when I’m stressed or tired, never known why. Maybe it’s the reduced calories?

I haven't, but I do find that I'm over analysing every twinge etc at the moment... 😅 eg mild leg cramp... could it be the mj? Itchy ankle... could it be the mj? Slightly dry eyes... mj???

No idea if any of them are actually related/mj side effects but I suppose if so at least they're not terrible! I'll now be hyper vigilant about how the tip of my nose is feeling 🤣

Edited

I must be annoying my colleagues at this point 😂, it’s the nausea that’s the worst - mornings are hell. I’ve gone and bought ginger sweets just to try and stop dry heaving.

Mounjaroday · 11/02/2025 07:50

Nose seems to be ok today. Fair point: perfectly possible I am overanalysing!

Week 2 weigh in!
SW: 103.9kg (to be exact, as I rounded up to 104kg last time but now getting a bit obsessed by every detail 😂)
CW: 98.9kg!!

Absolutely thrilled with that. I didn’t have a great week last week - mainly because I went out twice and drank my calories 😳 - but overall so happy with progress!

@imdesperatedan i know what you mean - I am bored of feeling sick in the morning and having multiple trips to loo - I am going to try my thigh for next dose - apparently people feel like tummy upset when they don’t inject in stomach (but the appetite suppression also lessens) really hoping that as I get used to the medicine this side effect subsides…

I’m the opposite re toilet, I’m bunged up 😂 yeah dietician at work was saying to try my leg and see how that goes. I did my tummy this time as seemed easiest! I’ve packed my own lunch today (we get given at work for free instead of an actual lunch break). I’ve got salmon with light mayo to stick on a bakes potato from canteen plus fruit and skinny whip bar. Work Tuesdays are normally chips, beans and something frozen so not the best.

I’m finding my nose is a bit hypersensitive to smells, or at least on this bus it is..

ThrowingHands · 11/02/2025 08:25

I've just ordered my first dose. I'm due to go on a business trip next week so I think I'll start when I get home on the Thursday. Starting weight 97kg.

Having to take that full-length photo was an eye-opener. Not wearing baggy clothes and not breathing in! More motivated than ever now to get started. Smile

Rainbowstripes · 11/02/2025 09:44

Yesterday was my first full day - ate little and often throughout the day which worked well. Was having dinner with family and had a 'normal' portion (just chicken, sweet potato mash and veg) but it was really eye opening as I ate it without really listening to my body and then felt really gassy and nauseous all night. Lesson learned - little and often is the way forward 🙈

partyfoodpickingpiggy · 11/02/2025 09:50

Week 2 weigh in and I have lost a total of 8.6 pounds in two weeks. Happy with that. I could never lose that much without the jab.

No real side effects as such. A bit of queasiness here and there. Third jab going in today.

(Also - not sure if it's someone on here or not but thank you to whoever used my med express code yesterday evening. That was a nice surprise email to open. Smile)

Mounjaroday · 11/02/2025 09:59

Oh that’s fantastic @partyfoodpickingpiggy 🎉

Morning,

Can I join please.

I placed my order with Oushk yesterday for delivery on Thursday. It’s still processing at the moment.

My plan is to inject on Thursday evenings as I have Fridays off so long weekend to recover from any side effects. Hoping I don’t get them too badly.

My start weight is 16 stone 9lbs. I want to get to 12 stone.

I’ve budgeted to be on mounjaro until September and will re-assess once I get there and add further funds to the budget if needed.

Really pleased to see such supportive communities online both here and on social media.

Roll on Thursday!
