Just started Mounjaro? Friendly chat and support right here!

My starting weight: 104kg
Would love to lose 30kg over time

Have just started the first dose - no side effects so far. Appetite has disappeared. Cautiously hopeful about the future!

Good luck to anyone else starting their weight-loss journey too. Would love to hear from you!

Well something is working - even if I wasn’t sure it was - just weighed myself (last weighed 8 days ago) and have lost almost 7 pounds and only started mj 4 days ago …water weight as everyone says (and I was on my period just over a week ago) but still v motivating - i have an under active thyroid and I don’t think I’ve ever lost that much in a week. Makes up - almost - for the dodgy tum

My injections are arriving today, so excited. Did anyone go mad with their food just before, like it was the last time of indulging etc. I've put on around half a stone just doing that. DH is sceptical about the whole thing and "what are you going to do if this doesn't work". Trying to remain positive.

Yes to going mad with food! I basically cleared out the house of any leftover Christmas goodies or other treats in the week or so before starting - all in the interests of removing temptation of course 😇. Unfortunately DH still has some treat stuff in but he tends more towards Haribo and biscuits whereas my weaknesses are chocolate and ice cream so I'm managing to be good...

Keep positive!

imdesperatedan · 10/02/2025 13:52

Work has been interesting today haha.

I’ve managed to eat a yoghurt, a handful of blueberries and grapes, about a 1/4 of a jacket potato if that, a bowl of fruit salad and then a bit of cheese with 1 slice salami and 4 breadsticks. Plus a protein shake and electrolyte drink.

It’s so weird, I’m not hungry at all for any more and have had to force myself to just eat that. Hot food tastes awful. My concentration’s a bit off - my normal meds are hitting me too much - and feel a bit sick at times, plus I’m constipated to hell but away to try senna tonight.

I also had the going mad on foods beforehand, I ate everything in sight up til the jab hahaha. Dessert at work, McDonald’s, all sorts!

@Dozycuntlaters thank you for reply which was very helpful.

I’ve looked at my own and the black plunger bit has moved up the barrel of the pen but it’s short of the first line so I wonder if I haven had a full dose ?

Not sure what to do now.

FatBottomGirlz · 10/02/2025 14:12

Third injection this morning for me, no side effects as such. I do have to be careful to get enough fibre and fluids or things slow down.

Starting weight 14st 2.5lb
Week 1 13st 12lb, lost 4.5lb
Week 2 13st 9.5lb lost 2.5lb total 7lb

Next pen seems really expensive without the new customer discount, so I've filled in a consult to switch providers.

MaddyM8 · 10/02/2025 14:24

Well done on your losses, mine still hasn't arrived. And the longer it takes to arrive the more and more horror stories I hear and see online so now I'm nervous haha!!

It should be back at zero when the full dose is administered. My first dose I had stopped short, so I just injected the remainder. Maybe ask your supplier if you're not sure.

Remember you hear more from people with issues. The most common issues like burps, heartburn, constipation etc are 1 in 10, so you could easily be one of the 9 without

MaddyM8 · 10/02/2025 15:21

Yes definitely, I don't mind some side effects as everything you take can cause side effects but just worried about something major. But I won't know I suppose until I try. Think I'm just anxious to get started ❤️

I havn't really had any side effects up to now x

Ilovelemonandsugarpancakes · 10/02/2025 16:03

Has anyone tried the Les Mills Bodypump? I know I need to start exercising I keep putting it off because I feel so big. Wondering if Bodypump would be good for burning fat and preventing muscle loss

Mounjaroday · 10/02/2025 16:07

I’ve done Les Kills before; it’s very good.

I am like this too, I have been so indecisive about this. Yesterday I was desperate for it to arrive, now I got the notification to say it will hopefully be here tomorrow, I am suddenly petrified and off the idea

But I am telling myself that if the side effects are really bad, I can just stop.

SongToTheSiren · 10/02/2025 16:23

Hi all, another newbie here. After dithering for the last couple of months I finally took the plunge last week and ordered. I've just done my first jab today which, as many people have said, wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I was nervous doing it as I'm not a fan of needles but felt pretty relieved afterwards - I think the first one is just a bit of a mental hurdle to get over.

Starting weight is 15 stone 3lbs / 96.8kg and height 5'7" I'm in my early forties and have struggled with my weight since I was a teenager, so hopefully the jabs will give me that bit of extra help I need with losing weight, fingers crossed Smile

@Febnewbie and @MaddyM8 - just to echo @FatBottomGirlz, most people in reality get mild or no side effects, they just don't bother to post about it! I felt a bit nauseous this morning after a fairly rich meal last night (Sunday roast...) and that's all I've had in terms of side effects since my first jab on 1 Feb. So now I know to avoid rich foods which is no bad thing tbh 😆

Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly for you both and all the other new posters!

PerditionCatchMySoul · 10/02/2025 16:45

If it makes anyone feel better, I injected on Friday and have had no side effects!

Probablyawake · 10/02/2025 17:51

I did my first jab today. Figured that I can amend to Sunday next week and then get it gradually to a Friday. Glad the first one is done.
I am heavier than most on this thread so don't think I will share SW!
Good luck everyone 😃

Burnserns · 10/02/2025 18:20

I thought I was having minimal side effects until yesterday when I went to SIL's for a roast. I ate a small portion but boy howdy do I regret it! Up all night with a very upset stomach and the runs....😧

Seems to be a few of us regretting their Sunday roast related life choices on here today 😅

I'm now half dreading next weekend as DH and I have a table booked at a really good (expensive!) steak restaurant for Valentines... hoping by going for just fillet with a lower fat sauce and undressed salad I'll be ok! I'm a bit gutted as it's a real treat to eat there and I know I'll be jealous of DH's peppercorn sauce and dauphinoise potatoes 😫

Febnewbie · 10/02/2025 18:33

What's weird is that I don't think of a Sunday roast as being especially rich? I guess it depends on how you do it and what sort of sides you have

No me neither! I did admittedly have some cauliflower cheese but only a spoonful - the rest was just lean roast meat, potato, veg etc, I don't add butter or goose fat or whatever so thought I'd have no issues! Ah well, it was only mild and my first side effect so can't really complain 😊

Can I join? Have just been approved. Currently 116kg with around 5 stone to lose.

Can anyone advise on what they do if scared of needles and the pain?

Hi! I'm not especially scared of needles etc but was really shaky and nervous when first injecting - but honestly, not only did it not hurt, I genuinely didn't feel it to the point I had to check the dose had actually been dispensed! If you have a DP or someone else that could do it for you I've seen some other people who are squeamish or scared do that, at least for the first jab? Then you can just look away until it's done. But it's really really nothing to be worried about! Good luck 😊
