Just started Mounjaro? Friendly chat and support right here!

My starting weight: 104kg
Would love to lose 30kg over time

Have just started the first dose - no side effects so far. Appetite has disappeared. Cautiously hopeful about the future!

Good luck to anyone else starting their weight-loss journey too. Would love to hear from you!

As an aside, for those waiting ages for approval, I ordered mine from IQ doctor, it was approved within 3 hours and I got my own the next day.

@OvertiredandConfused that's an amazing start! I hope my first weigh in will be as positive as that.

Stupid question, but what is "food noise" exactly? Blush

The suppression seems to be working fine - I really don't feel hungry! And was able to walk into Greggs with the DC yesterday to buy them a snack as we were out, and not get anything for myself despite the smells! A definite win.

I think the hardest thing for myself will be giving up takeaway coffees. I got quite used to getting a "nice" one after work as a pick-me-up, especially those winter ones with shit loads of cream and sweet syrups. Dread to think how many extra calories those are, but they've clearly got to go!

Hi just had to reply and say I'm hoping not to give up anything- I don't want to deny and then end up really craving it later on. Maybe have that coffee you love and enjoy less often or skip the cream/choose a lower sugar syrup. Just thought it might be an option

Sounds like you're doing great and I say this with compassion not judgement

OvertiredandConfused · 09/02/2025 09:00

Just done my first weigh-in and I’ve lost 7lbs. Not a huge loss like some first weeks, but still amazing! Suppression has been pretty strong and no side effects, yet.

SW 21st 5lb
CW 20st 12lb

Not sure on final target yet but would love to manage a stone by the end of the month.

I think that sounds like an amazing first loss!!

I googled

Food noise, on the other hand, refers to the persistent and often intrusive thoughts about food that occur even when you're not physically hungry. It's the mental chatter that urges you to grab a snack just because you saw a picture of a cookie or to keep eating even though you're full.

Anyone else finding/found it hard to decide if they are feeling anything/if its working on week one?
Im not very sensitive to medication in general i think, for example, i dont tend to get stomach upset from antibiotics and have managed to start, increase, decrease and stop antidepressants over the years without feeling any unwanted symptoms.
So far, thankfully i feel fine. But the thought of food isnt repulsive to me, I'm making a conscious deliberate effort to eat smaller amounts of healthy foods. Tbf I'm not actually craving cake, biscuits, ice cream, when normally i would be each evening...
But the effect seems so subtle and different from other peoples experiences of zero appetite, so i'm questioning if its even there or just in my imagination! Only time and more doses will tell i suppose.

Edited

@FunnyCrabDance this is 100% my experience so far. I'm on week 2 day 2, and I haven't had any side effects (thank god) but then I haven't had any food suppression either I don't think. It made me wonder if I'd actually properly injected the stuff into me, but I know I have. I'm following the WW plan and have been since new year so I'm eating healthy, not snacking etc but I don't feel all that much different. In my head I'm thinking, this is costing a fortune so Im definitely going to be doing everything I should to make it work as I don't have any other options after this. I have been plating up smaller portions than I ordinarily would have done but I'm sure this is because I'm expecting that I should be needing to eat less. It's messing with my head, I'm still hungry at meal and times and still very much enjoying the meals I make. I think I'm expecting too much too soon and that's just because I'm so so desperate to lose the weight.

Feb2025start · 09/02/2025 18:43

Ohhh I can totally identify with the judgmental mother thing too @Catmum100 @Mounjaroday! I love her but she excels at putting her foot in it re my weight/eating habits... eg will pipe up with 'you do REALISE you've put on weight, don't you?' (complete with concerned look) or 'oh gosh, I think you're the biggest I've ever seen you!'. Or worriedly pointing it out whenever I grab a yoghurt or something outside set meal times. Yet she's overweight too, and because she sticks to three (big) and typically 'British' homecooked meals a day always has stuff like pie/stew/roast/fish & chips followed by a massive slab of cake or apple crumble and custard etc, and again expresses concern at my 'disordered eating' if I'm eating at hers and don't manage the whole (huge!) portion she dishes up... suffice to say she is never going to know about me trying MJ, I'd never hear the end of it 😅

Overall though I don't think it's to be embarrassed about! It's definitely becoming more normalised, which is great IMO. I still haven't told DH (will do after my week 2 weigh-in I think, and encourage him to start too!) or anyone else - for me personally it's about not feeling scrutinised or under pressure for it to 'work' rather than embarrassment 😬

Feb2025start · 09/02/2025 18:49

@SansaClegane for me, food noise is where I know that I have eg a tub of ice cream or a pack of biscuits or sweets in the kitchen, and just having it constantly on my mind until I give in and have 'just a little'. Unfortunately it's never really just one lot of 'just a little'! I've always eaten pretty healthily other than that, so for me having the food noise cut out (as well as feeling full faster and for longer) is the miraculous thing about MJ! I still eat much the same in terms of meals but just less of it and with more veg than carbs, and have no desire really to snack/graze between meals other than maybe the odd bit of fruit.

@NikkiReader thank you! Yes that all sounds very relatable, this needs to work, its costing too much not to! So until it does kick in i'm just going to have to use pure willpower and motivation. 💪

It was meant to be delivered yesterday morning. It's on the way now apparently. Fingers crossed that it's still cold

My instructions were that it can be kept at room temperature before using, once open it needs to go in the fridge, then needs to be bought back to room temperature before injecting and then put back in the fridge

Mine said the opposite! Cold when unopened and then once opening it’s fine at room temp (not above 30 degrees)

Probablyawake · 09/02/2025 20:36

Mine was delivered Friday and it's in the fridge. I thought it was to be kept in the fridge unopened, then after the first dose it can be kept at room temp - as long as not above 30°. Confused now!

Itsbathtime · 09/02/2025 20:45

Recognise what others have said about not being 100% sure it’s working..I’ve had plenty of side effects and day 3 I felt quite sick first thing - so I guess it is - but food wise i haven’t been able to work out how I’m feeling! Had a piece of toast to try and settle tummy in morning (which helped), later took kids to a cafe for their lunch and didn’t feel like having anything - but then later in the day had a couple of snacks and a reasonable portion of dinner and didn’t feel particularly full… throughout the day feel like I ended up eating similarly to how I would have done - haven’t felt super full at all…but I have been having smaller portions / making myself extra veg - it’s like all is normal but I have a tiny bit more willpower…certainly not feeling completely transformed in terms of food and am definitely still hungry once tummy sorts itself out around midday…

SansaClegane · 09/02/2025 20:46

Thanks @mysparkleismissing that's actually what I did today... had an americano with a dash of oat milk and sugar free syrup, and it was just as much of a treat as the sugar laden creamy ones.

Also thanks for the explanations of food noise! Guess that has reduced for me as well, although maybe not as much as I keep watching myself / introspecting to see if I feel hungry and that leads to food noise, I guess? But I don't act on it.

TootieFrooties · 09/02/2025 20:53

I don't think that can be right as that's why there is such a hoo-haa about delivering it in a timely fashion as it has to go into the fridge so you can't collect it from the sorting office or have it delivered to a neighbour.

RememberDecember · 09/02/2025 21:33

Sadly I’m not going to be joining you as I got rejected by Zava. BMI of 27.2 with high cholesterol. Not sure whether to try again with another provider, any thoughts let me know. Im technically above their guidelines but not a straightforward >30 BMI.

Ohsoverytired11 · 09/02/2025 22:42

I feel like nothing has changed much. I ate a normal sized portion for dinner. I feel I could have ate more if someone put it in front of me but I didn't look for more... I've also ignored the chocolate that's in the fridge. Whether that's the mounjaro or me being more aware, I'm not sure

Rainbowstripes · 09/02/2025 23:15

I'm joining the club! Did my first jab this evening and was relieved that it didn't hurt at all and was straightforward to do.
Planning on weighing and jabbing every Sunday evening and am going to try and resist weighing inbetween 🙈

What evidence do you have of high cholesterol? It could be the guidelines released this week are making ZAVA wary of approving you as your BMI is only just above 27.

Hi all,

Loving reading about your experience

I will be joining on Friday - it's sat in the fridge but wary of any side effects so will do it after work in the evening.

Start weight- 104kg
Current weight - 88kg
Goal weight - 70kg
Dream weight - 62kg

I've been dieting over 6 months and have lost 17kg with personal training and diet but pretty exhausted by it and need extra help !!

CottonCandyLand · 10/02/2025 02:33

So after my previous post I did tell Dh but didn’t go into detail.
SW last Sunday 101.9 kg
CW 100.0 kg
so just over 4lb down.

PerditionCatchMySoul · 10/02/2025 06:01

Does anyone else find themselves thinking constantly about the fact they aren’t thinking of food constantly? 🤣

PerditionCatchMySoul · 10/02/2025 06:03

And I understand what others mean about not being sure it’s working. I had lunch at my parents yesterday as it was my mums birthday, but I only had a small (for me!) portion of mains, I was satisfied but I wanted seconds because it was nice. I didn’t have any though. I also turned down cake, and although it wasn’t easy, it was definitely easier than it would have been a week ago!
