WEGOVY January starters thread...

katem98 · 10/01/2025 22:00

Hi!

Any interest in a Wegovy only thread? There are lots of threads but must of the posters seem to be on Mounjaro.

Be nice to have a smaller group of us who are on Wegovy so that the doses are more relevant?😊

So sorry you've had a tough start Anxious89. I've only been on it 5 days but from other threads it does seem as though symptoms ease once the body adapts to it. How are you feeling now? Your 16:8 fasting routine sounds interesting whereohwhere. How does that work?

tioabar · 17/01/2025 14:19

@Anxious89 Are you feeling any better today? Have you been able to eat anything?

katem98 · 17/01/2025 17:30

Is anyone having a cheat day on the jab? I feel like I need a bit of a pick me up after being so run down. I've been sticking to between 500-1000 calories a day and tonight I'm going to treat myself to a Chinese or a pizza. Hope it doesn't do too much damage!

Whereohwhereohwhere · 17/01/2025 17:34

A bit of a cheat day here.

Went out for lunch. Managed a full portion and half a dessert. It was actually really good and I feel no guilt! Plus it's jab day tomorrow so I guess the impact has definitely worn off a little x

Newyearnewmewoooop · 17/01/2025 17:40

I’m only on day 3 but I definitely could eat like normal if I wanted to, I definitely haven’t experienced any food aversion unfortunately 😆

I had half a glass of Prosecco and couldn’t finish it though 😖 That’s never happened before!

katem98 · 17/01/2025 17:42

@Whereohwhereohwhere That sounds lovely❤️ I think it's really important to still enjoy and keep a healthy relationship with food!

@Newyearnewmewoooop I think we're still all on the loading dose aren't we? I'm wondering if the proper food aversion symptoms will come with higher doses? Don't get me wrong I'm definitely not as hungry as before at all but I will definitely eat a full portion still if I wanted to!

Newyearnewmewoooop · 17/01/2025 18:30

Yes @katem98 thats what I’m hoping too 🤞

Catherine278 · 17/01/2025 19:27

I find this group so reassuring as we are still more or less in the first or second week, aren't we? Experiences are varied but all heading in the right direction. I was just thinking this morning how brave we are. It took quite a bit of courage - at least it did for me. I think going out for lunch, or having a prosecco, is just fine. It's not like it's happening every day. Also it's January - energies are so low. So enjoy that pizza or Chinese - I'll be interested to hear if you managed to eat it all!

katem98 · 17/01/2025 22:31

@Catherine278 I think so too, it's nice to have a smaller group 😊 I didn't manage it all at all, my eyes were definitely bigger than my belly for once. Was nice to have something and not feel awfully guilty for it though as I know I've been very good with food all week!

OP posts:
tioabar · 17/01/2025 23:56

@Catherine278 Yes it's reassuring to be part of a smaller group where we have all pretty much started at the same time isn't it? I also found it really scary to do that first injection, it was the fear of the unknown. It's interesting to see how we all reacting differently to it.

I don't feel I've had such a strong reaction to the second jab. I am feeling hungry again although strangely still not for the sugary foods. I'm trying to focus on eating protein and vegetables.

I've no idea how things will change over the coming weeks as the dosage increases.

Have you all told friends and family you're doing this?

thornbury · 18/01/2025 06:39

Hi, I just started - I did my first dose last night. I slept well and feel ok this morning. I am usually a daily weigher (although there's been little good news lately!) and I am wondering whether to continue to do that, or to wait until next Friday so it's a one week anniversary.

Looking forward to sharing the journey with you all, and no, I haven't told anyone else!

PinkCosYouAreSoVery · 18/01/2025 17:52

Injection no. 3 for me yesterday, so been on it for just over 2 weeks. After my 5lb loss on week 1, I only lost just over 1lb on week 2, so was disappointed as i had been so good food wise all week! I need to up my movement I think, as I have desk job and not much moving around at all (Apple Watch says I only use 1750 cals over a 24 hr period on a no-exercise day), so I rejoined the gym today with the aim of going 2 or 3 times a week as well as trying to do a 3 mile walk or two each week.

I allow myself one 'treat day' at the weekend where I have a bottle of wine and a non diet dinner (but I dont go mad on the dinner). I have always really looked forward to my weekend bottle of Prosecco but since being on the wegovy, I have found I dont look forward to it as much and dont finish the bottle, so think it is curbing the craving!

I am finding that I really have to force myself to eat and when I do, I cant eat very much.

Some of the losses on here are amazing, you must be doing something right!

Whereohwhereohwhere · 19/01/2025 10:19

Took my 2nd job last night. The reflux was awful again overnight. I think I'll need to either move my day as Saturday tea is usually our least healthy night of the week or try injecting earlier in the day rather than bedtime.

Well done all. Keep going x

Catherine278 · 19/01/2025 15:49

Good read where everyone is up to. It's so hard to gauge in the early days, isn't it? Good luck thornbury! I've just told my best friend but other than that no one. Sorry you had reflux Whereohwhereohwhere. I do my jab in the morning (my second was this morning). You have to still enjoy family life and meal times! I know what you mean about prosecco PinkCosYouAreSoVery. I am a gin and tonic gal, but I've not had any inclination for anything alcoholic since I started wegovy. I'm finding that wegovy is reducing my appetite for sure, but I'm still having to do a lot of planning. Because I'm eating less I'm trying to make sure that what I do eat is protein and veg. Just had some nice roast chicken for lunch. So a bit of organisation needed here and getting used to organisation. Hope everyone's having a good weekend!

thornbury · 19/01/2025 18:12

Here's my reflection on the first 48 hours after jab 1:

  • noticeable appetite reduction - if I think about eating, my next thought is similar to 'nah, can't be bothered' !
  • more burping than usual
  • getting full quicker than usual - put the Greek yogurt back in the fridge as I was too full after a small dinner to eat any, although I should have the protein
  • weight was a mere 0.6lbs lower this morning and body fat % barely changed

I've been using Wednesdays as an 'official' weigh day because Jan 1st was a Wednesday, but I had the jab on Friday night, so now I either pick one or have two 'official' weigh ins!

tioabar · 19/01/2025 18:20

@PinkCosYouAreSoVery I lost 4.5 lbs the first week and now I'm over halfway through the second week I don't seem to have lost anything. I've stayed within calorie target and I'm pretty active so I don't know what I could do differently. I've decided to wait and see how much I weigh after the second week is up. Perhaps it's the slow digestive transit at work

PinkCosYouAreSoVery · 19/01/2025 18:44

@tioabar we'll just have be patient I guess. I def do need to move more so I rejoined the gym yesterday snd went again today. Lets hope the next weigh day is more positive for us!

Whereohwhereohwhere · 20/01/2025 08:55

I've woken up with a sore tummy and a bit of diarrhoea today. It seemed to come on very quickly and I'm hoping it passes quickly. Plenty of fluids for me today I think. How's everyone else's side effects?

TeaAndTapas · 20/01/2025 09:55

Good morning everyone,
Today I took my first injection. No side effects yet but would love to join the thread for support 🤞🏻

katem98 · 20/01/2025 20:19

@TeaAndTapas Welcome, how are you getting on?

OP posts:
TeaAndTapas · 21/01/2025 08:47

Not bad, made sure my calorie intake was in the sensible range with plenty of protein. Bit of a headache today but so far so good!

Is everyone calorie counting? Any tips for lunchtimes? Dinner is easier but lunch I struggle!

Newyearnewmewoooop · 21/01/2025 10:45

I’m due second injection tonight, have had no symptoms but then this morning had diarrhoea!

weighing in tomorrow morning 🤞

Catherine278 · 21/01/2025 11:50

Good luck to all the new starters! I'm 2 days into injection 2, and (touch wood) no symptoms except reduced appetite. Sorry to those of us suffering from diarrhoea! Hope it passes! I'm not counting calories just making sure I'm eating enough protein and veg. I'm getting used to the absence of food noise now. Although still overweight, mentally I feel 'normal'. This is such a refreshing change!

That's interesting. My husband is a gym fanatic but struggles with weight on his stomach, although I wish my stomach was like his! He was speaking to me about protein so I may try this approach. I am not going to spend my whole life calorie counting so I think that sounds more realistic for me. Good luck for the week ahead!

thornbury · 21/01/2025 15:42

Is anyone else surprised that this actually works? It's literally like someone turned my brain off - the bit of it that goes ooh, chocolate, ooh, biscuits, ooh, cake, anyway.

Today I have had:
0% fat yogurt and raspberries for breakfast
No lunch break but grabbed a soya hot chocolate from Starbucks en route between sites
Ate my apple as I drove home as I'd chopped it already but spent the day ignoring it
Veg stir fry and tofu - skipped noodles and sweet and sour sauce as I knew I didn't want them and didn't want to waste food

The box of blueberries I took to work has gone back in the fridge for tomorrow.

I know written down it really isn't enough, but I don't want any more to eat. I stood in the pantry looking at the open packet of bourbons and just couldn't be bothered.
