WEGOVY January starters thread...

Hi!

Any interest in a Wegovy only thread? There are lots of threads but must of the posters seem to be on Mounjaro.

Be nice to have a smaller group of us who are on Wegovy so that the doses are more relevant?😊

Yes me! I'm on week 2 (started 0.5mg dose) and had 5lb loss at end of week 1.

I am 4.5 months in, Slow loser but working!

I'm on it too and doing OK, slow and steady. Not sure on actual amount lost, but clothes definitely looser.

Glad it's not just me! So many seem to have chosen Mounjaro instead. Was beginning to doubt my choice!

@PinkCosYouAreSoVery How did you manage to start on the 0.5 dose? I wanted to do that ideally but had to start on the 0.25. I'm end of week one now and just injected second dose this evening. 6lbs loss so far!

I'll join. First dose yesterday. Some horrible symptoms last night but all settled now.

9kg. But also managed a relaxed holiday and Christmas so lost an extra 2kg i dont count ha ha. I had hoped for quicker if I am honest but consistently losing 2kg each month is good

It really reduces my 'food noise' and I can genuinely reduce my food intake but I suffer with constipation loads and occasional weird burps!

@lostinabook 9KG is fab. Especially with Christmas and a holiday. Well done!

@Whereohwhereohwhere Welcome! Glad your symptoms have settled.

The food noise bit is fascinating as I realised without WG my brain is thinking about food in some way about 70% of the time, even though sometimes it is in the background and ai went OH I THINK I DO FOOD REALLY DIFFERENTLY FROM MOST NON OBESE PEOPLE and it is really eye opening. I have always being overweight or obese and had some success at various times with calorie counting type things but it requires so so much of my energy and brain power and I always feel deprived? But with WG I am not necessarily feeling that.

Also seeing what is emotional eating or practical (little time and need something quick) rather than actual hunger

@lostinabook This is exactly how I feel about it too! Such a weird feeling and one I'm definitely not used to.

Hi All, I’m going to join you if that’s ok. I just took my first 0.25 dose a couple of hours ago.
i’m also interested to see what happens with the food noise. I’ve realised that whenever I’ve dieted before the food noise is just all consuming, counting calories, working out what to eat, it’s just non-stop so I’m really hoping WG will be a revelation.

I also have no off switch and I have three weeks of business trips and a holiday coming up where usually I can’t resist the all day eating, really hoping that I can just ignore it from now on.

Can I join? I haven't actually injected yet - I had worked myself up to order and start in October and then (very long story short) my mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer and died just before Christmas, and as I was caring for her I couldn't risk taking anything that would make me ill. Obviously during acute grief is not the best time to start :) but I'm determined to get going now - however I'm also really nervous of injecting myself and keep deciding another day for it would be much better... so any tips much appreciated.

Been obese my whole life and like others am really curious about the food noise side of things - and good to see there are at least some others that chose wegovy!

FYI as a heads up for you gang down the line I am 3 days into Magnesium Citrate to try and ease the constipation issue more medium term!

Really sorry to hear about your Mum @speakingofart I hope you're doing ok. The minimal food noise for me is what's really helping!

@lostinabook When did your constipation kick in? I'm day 8 and no issues as such yet!

im due to start Wednesday! Do you all injections morning or night?

@Newyearnewmewoooop I personally inject on an evening (Sunday).

I do morning for.mine usually Fri or Sat (day has changed before due to delivery)

My 💩 issues started from week 2 or 3 I think but I am prone to it!

What side effects have people had? Does it literally make you not hungry?! I just can’t imagine not feeling hungry constantly

@lostinabook I will definitely watch out for the issue to start then. Hopefully it won't 😬

@Newyearnewmewoooop for me is a really weird sensation... my belly could rumble but it's like my brain is separate from my belly and won't compute that I'm hungry if that makes sense? Also if I had a nice Chinese in front of me I could definitely eat it but I won't be dying for a takeaway on a Friday or Saturday night like I used to be. Rubbish takeaway food was always my craving and I haven't craved it at all.

1st injection for me tonight too! I don't have alot to lose, but in stuck with an extra 1.5 stone that I cannot shift. I'm hoping 2 months will have it sorted and I'll have better eating habits too...

For anyone nervous about the actual injecting, don’t be. When I had fertility treatment i couldn’t do the injections myself and DH had to do it. For this, injection is absolutely minuscule and I didn’t feel it going in at all. Not sure if anyone else was similar?

to be honest, I don’t feel a lot different right now. Feel a bit hungry for breakfast… otherwise just the same! Will see how today goes.
