WEGOVY January starters thread...

katem98 · 10/01/2025 22:00

Hi!

Any interest in a Wegovy only thread? There are lots of threads but must of the posters seem to be on Mounjaro.

Be nice to have a smaller group of us who are on Wegovy so that the doses are more relevant?😊

@Newyearnewmewoooop Hope it went ok? Doing ok. Keep wanting a Papa Johns pizza which is very annoying 😂 I've held off and had a healthy dinner instead but that's the first time I REALLY wanted rubbish food since starting the jab.

How long does it take for appetite to go? I’m hoping to wake up tomorrow with little appetite 🤞😆

OhDearWhyAmIFatterly · 14/01/2025 21:00

I thought my appetite would have gone today, wishful thinking!
I felt queasy all day then hungry tonight!!!!

Newyearnewmewoooop · 15/01/2025 08:21

I took the first dose last night, felt sick throughout the night and woke up starving 😖

katem98 · 15/01/2025 10:22

@Newyearnewmewoooop Oh no 😢 I've found have a bowl of porridge at around 10am really helps?

Hi there, may I join this group? I started with Wegovy last Sunday and was so nervous about it. But what a revelation. My appetite seems to have switched off and I also relate to the absence of 'food noise' that others talk about. I didn't realise how much I thought about food until it stopped! I've been overweight for much of my life and finding it hard to adjust to the fact that this might actually work. Only on day 4 but already feeling much better.

Newyearnewmewoooop · 15/01/2025 10:54

Was it immediate @Catherine278 that your appetite went? My food noise is still very loud

katem98 · 15/01/2025 10:54

I think mine varies day to day depending on how determined I'm feeling!

I'm new to mumsnet so probably not replying properly but it did go quickly, I have to say. That said i think it varies very much from person to person - in fact all the different responses to the meds put me off for a long time. I think it takes a bit of getting used to - for the body to adapt - and I think it helped, too, that I've never liked pizza or that sort of food! If I did, it might have been more difficult for my body to withdraw, if that makes sense. Hang on in with it. If you're craving pizza, have a slice. It might well be that that would be enough! You might be surprised!

Whereohwhereohwhere · 15/01/2025 15:29

Four days since my first jab. Am so very tired. I can't complain really and hopefully it will pass but I'm really not getting much done at all.

katem98 · 15/01/2025 15:41

@Whereohwhereohwhere Isn't it funny how it affects everyone differently. I feel quite energetic really but not sure if that's just because I'm eating more sensibly.

I have had a few episodes of loose BMs today. Not had anything different than usual to eat so hoping this isn't a lasting side effect😬

Place marking for Monday. Thanks for starting the thread!

katem98 · 15/01/2025 16:04

@Ginflinger Most welcome. Thought it'd be nice to have a smaller group of us using the same injection!

Yes it's nice to be in a small group of January starters - we can encourage each other!

tioabar · 15/01/2025 16:42

My second jab is due this evening. This is the first time I have ever been freed from the compulsion to eat sugary foods. It started to creep back yesterday evening so I am hoping that this evening's jab will take it away again. It's like being unchained from a maniac.

katem98 · 15/01/2025 16:44

@Catherine278 Absolutely!

@tioabar I find that too the closer you get to injection day the want for the bad stuff comes back!

hi all, thought I’d report back now I’m a couple of days in. My hunger is definitely lower but hasn’t gone completely. Usually I’m thinking about lunch around 12 but today I didn’t even notice I was hungry until around 2pm and the one slice of Philadelphia on toast and a couple of satsuma’s was fine. Weirdly I’m now craving pancakes but feel I can also go without.

i was thinking of how to describe the feeling and it’s like the little devil on my shoulder is gone. So when I see the Christmas cake still on the side, I think oh Christmas cake and can walk past and not be fighting with myself not to have a piece if that makes sense? Whereas before I would be thinking well I shouldn’t have some and the other side of me would be going, well it’s only a small slice and it needs finishing, etc. it’s so nice not to be constantly having those conversations with myself!

Catherine278 · 15/01/2025 17:00

That's so interesting to hear about ignoring the Christmas cake. I work in a shop and the chocolate is always calling to me. The last couple of days I've forgotten it's there. My next injection is Sunday so it will be interesting to see if the chocolate starts calling on Saturday!

tioabar · 16/01/2025 10:57

Morning all. I had my second jab last night. I don't feel sick this morning, which I did this time last week. I was slightly hungry at breakfast time but the constant thinking about sweets, biscuits and cakes has gone away again. Such a relief. I'm using My Fitness Pal to make sure I am eating a balanced diet as if the day is busy I can forget to eat. I didn't expect I'd ever write that last sentence.

katem98 · 16/01/2025 12:00

What are everyone's losses so far?

Stepped on the scales this morning, day 9 on first dose and down 9lbs.

Catherine278 · 16/01/2025 12:05

Great news about the weight loss Kate! I am ignoring the scales as they can trigger eating disorders, but definitely feeling lighter after only 4 days. My whole body feels easier. Brilliant about that 9 pounds though - well done! And I know what you mean tioabar. I don't think I have ever forgotten to eat before. A weird experience, isn't it?

katem98 · 16/01/2025 12:10

@Catherine278 Completely get what you mean about the scales! Used to have an unhealthy obsession with weighing but now just use it with a better mindset 😊 I know what you mean about feeling 'lighter' in general - it's great!

Newyearnewmewoooop · 16/01/2025 14:19

I’m only on day 2, but still thinking about food a lot 😖

Whereohwhereohwhere · 16/01/2025 18:48

For the first time since by jab on Saturday I was tempted by a slab of Stilton today. Interesting to see maybe the first dose wearing off a little but I've definitely been able to stick to my 16:8 fasting routine much much easier. Though the reflux at nights has been pretty bad. I already take Omeprazole so will have to think about how to manage that symptom if it continues.

Anxious89 · 16/01/2025 23:20

Can I join ☺️ I took my first 0.25 dose last Friday evening. I was sick 4 times over the course of the weekend and felt nauseous until Monday, the only things I could stomach were dry toast and digestive biscuits. I actually felt more sick if I didn’t eat so I felt like I was snacking a lot to get rid of it.

Feeling nervous whether to continue as I don’t want to lose 2-3 days every week to feeling ill.

Has anyone else had bad side effects?
